I ordered a $65 Bone in Ribeye. It was supposed to come with truffle fries. I told the waitress that I hate truffles. She didn't know that the steak was cooked with truffle butter. YUK! I could barely eat it and still paid. They never brought my sides. Also, my wife got shrimp scampi. zero garlic. Was tasteless till she asked for some garlic butter. Won't be going back. P.S. After a solid day of work; the family decided to take us somewhere nice for dinner. Browsing around, we decided to take a turn at the Sette Mezzo Ristorante! Going inside, we got in at the nick of time, and were seated immediately. For dinner, we ordered 1x Meatballs, 1x Caprese Tower, 1x Chicken Sette, and 1x Veal Parmesan. Moving on with my review, we had mixed feelings about the food this evening. For starters, I forgot to snap photos, but we were courteously served hot crusty bread with cold butter which was delicious and tasted fresh made! The meatballs were soft to the touch of my fork, also both savory and creamy - definitely order these! The caprese tower came with some kalamata vinaigrette which I thought added a nice salty unami touch and mozzarella was indeed fresh! As for the entrees; the Veal parmesan wasn't grisly, and nicely tender, but I do think the sauce here was to acidic for our liking and could be more balanced. The Chicken Sette was a huge letdown as it was very tough, and the "bechamel" (if you can even call it that) was very bland. Despite my criticism, our server, was very attentive and friendly! Overall, we think the food was above average, but could use some improvements. For this reason, my final review for now is 3/5 stars. read more

A tale of three eggplant parmigianas tonight. If I could only pick one, it would be this one. Chef Franco Filippone knew this wasn't our only stop tonight, but boy, he did his best to keep us there. Honestly, I will stay the whole evening next time. First, on Saturday night, the place was packed. We waited a bit and ended up at the chef's table directly behind the pass. This is where all the action is -- don't be afraid to take this one, especially if you are a foodie, because you will see all the great dishes going out. And Franco has an eyeball view of you there. While we waited, I ordered a negroni -- a 1:1:1 ratio of gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth -- I can't argue with it, and it sets the stage. Franco knew we were hungry, so he sent out a cannellini bean, baby shrimp, and arugula with Calabrian pepper (!!!) over crostini app in a garlic sauce, which was fabulous and had a kick -- my plate had the business end of the pepper on it so I took the seeds out and cut it up and redistributed it. If you were to pop that in your mouth whole without doing that you'd be in for a surprise. The eggplant. It's honestly hard to do a better job with this. Nice thin discs (rather than strips) of nicely seasoned and breaded fried eggplant, with a tangy, acidic sauce made with San Marzano tomatoes. Beautiful mozzarella with a nice cheese pull. Perfectly cooked spaghetti in a classic marinara with table parmigiano cheese grating service. This eggplant parm is a fusion of an Italian American version with nice Italian ingredients that is executed perfectly. Would order again and again. We were about ready to pack up, and head over the next victim, but he sent out a pistachio ricotta cheesecake that is to DIE for. I had a bite, asked Rachel to stop eating it and had it packed up with the rest of the eggplant. We're finishing it later. Sette Mezzo is a top Italian restaurant in a sea of Italian restaurants in west Broward. Don't underestimate the food there. read more

We really enjoy this restaurant and come here several times a month, but lately the bar seating situation has been frustrating. The last few visits there have been multiple empty bar seats that are being held for people who aren't there yet, which leaves guests standing and waiting even though seats are physically open. We mentioned it to the host tonight and ended up leaving because we couldn't get seats at the bar. Just wanted to share the feedback because we like the place and hope management can find a better way to handle bar seating for guests who are already there. read more

The calamari dish with mushroom and zucchini slices was absolutely amazing. I had the eggplant parm, which was also excellent, and my partner had the saccatini, which were delightful and just the right balance of pear to cheese. I hate to give a locally owned place so few stars but diners need to know. First, positives: very nice service. Yummy small sourdough loaf. I preface this understanding prices for everything are up - for everyone including diners, + especially restaurants - this was gouging. Two of us ordered a chopped salad. I had expected the ingredients listed on the menu with lettuce + lots of flavor. I added grilled chicken. Welp - There was lettuce - and the most minuscule representation of chickpeas, peppers, cabbage and whatever else was supposed to be in there. We were laughing, "Oh look I found a chickpea!". In contrast, for the same price this week I shared a grilled chicken Greek salad at D'Vash with a friend, brimming with all the elements of a Greek salad and the chicken. Most egregious was the side. I asked for a side of zucchini and a taste of their sauce. I received nicely seasoned green and yellow squash - about total size of half a zucchini - in a small dish. Zucchini is anywhere from .99 - 3.99 a pound retail. When I saw my bill - my head blew up. $12 for half a zucchini!! Again, I know prices are up but what???? The server said "all our sides are $12" - which I may have missed on the menu while chatting. So the small dish of sautéed spinach, similarly priced retail, would be $12??? I expressed my surprise because I really was surprised! Zero effort to reduce, and I didn't ask. My friends were waiting. read more

Damn... Damn.... The portions at this place are amazingly large and they fill you up. But the best is that everything is so fresh and so good. The flavors of real Italian is in all the dishes here. The specials are fabulous and filling. The pasta is always dead on and so good. We come here often with friends and every time we order 6 meals and split it up between us all cause the dishes here are so good. You will not be disappointed. Had a wonderful dinner here recently. We read that the chef was born in Sicily and raised in NY. I ordered veal piccata (capers and lemon sauce) with a side of rapini (broccoli rabe) while my wife had rigatoni alla Norma (breaded eggplant, pomodoro sauce, and ricotta salata with grilled shrimps as protein add-ons). I can't believe how many times I've driven by this restaurant and had no idea it was there. I heard about it on a an episode of the show Check Please and it looked good. We usually eat out on the weekends in Ft. Lauderdale or Delray, so it's not a place or in an area that we otherwise would have tried. We Finally got around to trying it tonight and it did not disappoint! The waitress was very friendly. All of the food is clearly made from scratch and to order. We had the baked brie wrapped in Italian bacon for an appetizer and it was outstanding. We then had the lobster pasta special and the lasagna and both were excellent. We had it with an inexpensive bottle of Italian wine and finished it all off with the tiramisu which was delicious. Not only would we eat here again, we are looking forward to it. read more

Best Veal Parm around. Chickens good but the Veal here is the real deal. Pounded thin but not so thing that it dries out when they cook it. And it's huge. I have invited friends from Québec Canada, to celebrate my wife's birthday. As an appetizer, we ordered the fritto misto, as an entree they trusted me to order, so I ordered the veal scallopini alla pizzaiola, with a side of spaghetti, the subtle taste of the garlic and the fresh tomatoes were amazing, the birthday girl ordered the pappardelle with shrimps, porcini mushrooms and truffles, without forgetting a nice bottiglia di vino rosso. For dessert, tiramisu and cannoli. The food was excellent and the ambiance was vibrant! Our server, miss Russo was attentive, knowledgeable, friendly and a true professional. We live in Lake Worth and our friends live in Hallandale Beach but the drive to Sette Mezzo was all worth it. Chef Franco runs his business like a well oiled machine. Unpretentious but nice Italian restaurant, the food was satisfactory. The menu had a decent selection of interesting choices and we each found something to our taste. I had the Sette chicken which was enjoyable and a nice change of pace (but I never received the pasta I ordered with it). The lasagna was tasty and the portion ample. My mom liked the Chicken piccata but said that it needed more sauce. Service was below subpar. We were seated in the side dining room. It was abundantly clear that they were having servers pick up tables in the side dining room in addition to their main sections and I'm pretty sure that was the problem. Out of sight, out of mind. We spent at least an extra hour waiting, multiple items were delayed or outright forgotten. Not sure why I didn't just ask for a new server because ours was a wreck. Lesson learned. This place is out of the way for us to begin with, if we return it would be because we're in the neighborhood. read more

My husband ordered a few speciality cocktails he was happy with and we started w the burrata as an app. Very good and the pomadoro tomatoes were perfection. Our main courses were delicious. This is our favorite Italian restaurant! I was just there on Friday night and brought a family member that was visiting from out if state. The dinner was last minute and we only had a very short time because we had purchased tickets for a comedy show in another city. We figured we were just getting a quick glass of wine and an appetizer, but they made it so that we were able to enjoy a full dinner in that short time. After reading mostly good reviews and having to be out west, I decided to go here and I ended up being very disappointed. However there were some positives such as a friendly staff and a welcoming casual environment. However the food was just not good. A Chicken Parm seemed to be thawed incorrectly or just wasn't fresh. The menu states that the Pappardelle with Pesto is made from the "chefs basil sauce" but it also didn't seem very fresh and the thin sauce was devoid of flavor. The only item that we tried that was okay was the pizza and that wasn't enough to compensate for the other poor dishes. read more

What a pleasure on believable I walked in, went to the bar to see if I can find a seat another customer sesame come on over here it will squeeze you win, and from that moment on, it was magic the server I was so pleasurable I ordered side salad. which came promptly it was so fresh I couldn't finish it off, followed by probably the best piece of veal milk fed cooked to perfection and the pasta out of this world. Wow! We stopped here truly by accident, and I am so glad we did. Our server John helped us pick our dishes, they were patient and accommodating to my family plus our 7 month old. We got there early 5:30 so it wasn't busy at all but by the time we left 6:45 there wasn't even a table available. Some of the best Italian we have had in a while. Not pictured but we got fresh bread to start and outstanding mussels (not on the menu) My husband got the veggie coal fired pizza, we got the chicken parm classic, the pear pocket and the salmon special of the night. Each of us were raving how good our meals were. Paired my meal with the Rose which was also delicious. I can't wait to come back! Very cute place, we keep trying to make it our spot! My husband gets the chicken parm and the appetizer meatballs, he loves it. I am pescatarian so I have been trying the shrimp dishes, and tonight, unfortunately like other nights, the shrimp continues to have a chlorine/lighter fluid taste. I thought it was the scampi, or the olive tomato pasta, but no, it seems to be the shrimp, all-around. We ordered to-go for my husband's birthday, so I threw mine out and let him enjoy his. This homey Italian restaurant is so cute inside and the food was very good! The staff was super accommodating and sweet. I called for a last minute reservation on a Saturday night for a party of 10 and was rejected everywhere I called but Sette Mezzo took our group. The menu is huge and full of amazing dishes from pasta to meat dishes, vegetarian friendly options to desserts. Everyone at our table tried something different and everyone agreed their choice was delicious. I started with a Siciliano Negroni drink and it was delightful. A very sweet light aperitivo. Then I had the fried calamari appetizer platter. I loved that it came with other items besides calamari. The mushrooms were fantastic! For a main dish, I got the clams with linguine in a white garlic butter sauce. The clams were done very well without sand and the pasta was al dente. It was super salty but flavorful. Went with a large group after a funeral. It was a Saturday afternoon so the place was only open for our group. The staff was welcoming and very attentive. The meal was prearranged so I didn't get to see their normal menu items. The meal was served at a nice pace and we were not rushed Bread, pasta, chicken, calamari, eggplant parm, salad and assortment of desserts were all delicious. Several at the table ordered cappuccino and said it was especially delicious.
