Quite decent. I was there for happy hour. Had a prosciutto flatbread and Bellini for $11 and didn't need dinner!! My flatbread was excellent and so was my drink. Good service at the bar. Will definitely do happy hour more often. read more

Sette Osteria has pretty good food, a nice vibe, and an interesting wine list. Food is freshly prepared and comes out quickly. Ingredients are generally pretty high quality. D.C. doesn't have truly great casual Italian food anywhere and this place doesn't change it. Still, it's good enough. The problem--and it's a pretty big one--is that the service is sub-par across the board. Stick with the pizzas, they're almost all good, and check out the wine list. Deserts, particularly the molten chocolate cake, are surprisingly excellent for a place like this. But expect slow, forgetful service. read more

Was here on Friday evening and sat out front on the patio. A bit chaotic at the hostess stand but eventually got a table. Service was good and food very good. BUT - patio is overrun with huge cockroaches- five crawling up the wall and on the ground near our table- told the hostess but she was completely unfazed. I like this place but this is a huge problem that needs to be addressed immediately. Needless to say, all our diners were completely freaked out. read more

I went here last night with my boyfriend. We had every intention of trying Barcelona, but it was packed (unbelievable on a Wednesday night), so we just went here instead because it looked cute and was not crowded at all. Overall, I was impressed. Great ambiance and service. With that being said, neither of us liked our entrees. He had Chicken Parm and I had Penne in spicy sauce. They were both very underwhelming. I came here for dinner with a group of girlfriends. The service was mediocre as we had to wait forever tor our waiter to come over and take our orders. When he finally did I tried to order both my drink and food and he said "no I'm only taking drink orders now." WTH? But I'm ready now, too bad he said no. Then someone else at the table also tried to order food and then the waiter said "is everyone ready to order"....ahhh yeah we've been sitting here awhile. Only then was he willing to take our food orders, so strange. I got the margarita pizza which tasted very bland, it had no seasoning. When the bill came it looked slightly like our bill but wasn't completely so we told him he brought the wrong bill to us. He brought it back still missing some drinks and we just gave up and paid it. I realize now why this place is always empty when every other restaurant on 14th street is full and has waiting lists. They have two single bathrooms but put up a sign W and M on each door. So you had 3 women waiting in line for the woman's room while no one used the mens rooms. The bathrooms really should be unisex. read more

Came into this restaurant with my wife at 12:30 pm on on 10/16. Within 10 minutes we had ordered and received drinks and ordered our lunch entrees. A meatball sandwich and a burger. Easy. What then happened was almost indescribable. We received no attention at all for 40 minutes until I finally flagged down a waiter. He then proceeded to stand at the main door of the restaurant and yell across the patio to see what we needed. Couldn't even walk over to the table? We asked where our food was. Shouldn't take 40 minutes for two sandwiches. He went to check. Someone else then came to our table and told us that our food would be out in just a second. We asked what had happened and were told that "maybe the cook forgot or something." Another ten minutes goes by. We ask again about our food. Waiter again says "It will be out any second." and walked away. When our food finally arrives, it is over 1 hour and 20 minutes form when we ordered it. Completely unacceptable. Worst part - NO ONE GAVE A DAMN. No apology. No attempt make the situation right. On top of all this, my meatball sandwich was loaded with cheese and deeply lacking in meatballs. Wife's cheeseburger was supposed to come with cheddar cheese. Clearly had American on it and when we asked if it was cheddar, the waiter went to the back and came out with two raw pieces of American cheese, stated that it was cheddar, and suggested that my wife scrape off the cooked cheese and replace it with the raw. HA! All for $70! WHAT A DEAL! Won't ever be coming back to this place. Wouldn't waste your time either. read more

We were walking around DC on a Saturday night around 7pm and we were looking for a spot to grab a bite before going out. We came across this place and were immediately seated outside for 4. We went here for brunch on Saturday. The place was busy but not full, so we were seated immediately. As mentioned by others some of the tables nearby were loud, so much so that it was difficult to hear our own conversation. Our service was good. Not great, not bad just regular. Friendly enough and attentive to a point. Our drinks were so-so. My Bloody Mary was ok but my cappuccino was flat and cool. Not cold but it felt and looked like it had been made a while before reaching the table. Man Who Pays ordered a Mimosa but it was flat. One suspects the ratio of sparkling wine to OJ may not have been in favor of the former! I thought the menu looked good but ordered the Italian Toast and it was a bad choice. Very greasy and the eggs were solid. Man Who Pays ordered the brunch burger and it was ok. Mind you it was undercooked for "medium" and so was the egg. Both underwhelming. I don't think we would go back- certainly not for breakfast. The outside patio looked inviting and the prices were reasonable. read more

I wish I could give 0 starts. This was the most disgusting experience I've ever had in the States. It was around 8 when we were sitting outside the restaurant and we ordered our meals. We sat for around 15-20 mins and our food came perfectly. BUT THINGS GOT MESSED UP. I noticed a black shadow move around the edge of the table and then go back under the table. When I bent down over to check what it was I has a tremendous shock to see that there were tens of COCKROACHES crawling around the wall and the table and under the table around our feet. We jumped of the table waiting for help when we found out that the manager of the restaurant immediately brought the check for us to pay, a meal with COCKROACHES EVERYWHERE. She kept on saying that it was the city's problem, and that the restaurant had nothing to do with it, and tried to move us inside when COCKROACHES were still on the table. She said that she was going to call the POLICE if we didn't pay, and we told her to call the police. But apprently she realised how terrible the situation was and let us go. She was rude and she forced us to pay the bill and threatened us. Terrible place. Don't jeopardize your health by entering this place. Disgusting. read more

We dined here for Father's Day, as another reviewer posted, the AC was off. The restaurant was so warm some in our party had to wipe their faces with their napkin. Music was too loud. We were the only ones in dining room and one person at the bar, no need to blast the music. We wanted to talk without shouting and enjoy our meal. The music could have been turned down. I should not have to ask you to turn on the AC and turn down the music. We had to request bread and now that I see others post say that they were charged for bread, I wonder if we were charged. Food is delicious but with such high prices, they should turn the AC on to keep it comfortable for guests. read more

I wasn't familiar with the restaurant but decided to give it chance since it was chosen as one of the best, and lets just say I was happy with my choice. The Crab Cake Benedict was divine. Dined here for the second time on August 1. Came with a party of seven. Our experience is both good and bad. I'll get to the food quality first since that's what most people are initially interested in. It was excellent. Six out of our group were delighted with their choices that ranged from spaghetti and meat balls to carbonara to swordfish, the exception being the veal dish which was just okay. We opted for wines by the glass and were pleased with the nero d'avola and montepulciano. Our service was hit and miss. The restaurant was busy so it is possible the staff was over-stretched. However, no sooner had the waiter brought our drinks than he was off somewhere else. We had to maintain a watchful eye to snatch him in passing to place additional drink orders. We also asked for more bread: our first request was ignored, but after a second request to another staff member, it finally came. And the small pieces of bread at Sette are excellent, even without olive oil. But sadly, I have to say that the noise level in this restaurant was actually painful. We were all leaning across the table and screaming so that we could try at holding a dinner conversation. I think this level of noise is dangerous and only wonder that the entire staff is not hearing impaired. When the dinner was over, we could not exit the restaurant quickly enough. I note that two members of our party were under 25, so the noise issue is multi-generational. Dining with friends should be pleasant, anticipated; a chance to smile, catch-up, have a glass of something good--be an extension of home for an hour or two. We shouldn't be subjected to decibel levels rivaling a rock concert. So why haven't restaurant owners and designers of restaurant spaces caught onto this? I hope someone can hear me on this because I'm shouting! By the way, I would have given the restaurant 5 Stars but for the noise. read more

Just went for the first time on Sunday, and I really enjoyed the experience. The had flavorful food, great service and the prices were right for the quality! The only issue is it's a bit loud. While there weren't many diners, there were two parties and they were extremely loud!! I would not consider the noise level average with a bunch of brunch-goers who have been drinking for many hours!! Maybe Sette might consider some sound proofing in the future. read more

I do think I could have found a better option on the menu, so I would come back and give this place another try. Having spent 4 days in DC, this is the only restaurant we dined at twice. The Ravioli Della Nonna was amazing with the sauce it was served in. Another dish with meatballs in a red sauce was equally delicious. We enjoyed the freshness of the two salads we ate. Today Anouar was our server. Anouar is on point with his knowledge of cuisine, his attentiveness to us and all other customers. He goes extra with his service which adds to the enjoyment of the meal. The young man, who bused the tables also took great care to attend to all the customers. From the staff to the food and drinks, this was a 5 star experience! read more

I would like to start this review by sharing this is my firs time in DC and stopped at this restaurant by Yelp chances. It had lower stars than the original Italian restaurant that I wanted to try but they had more options that sounded more appetizing to my picky self. Pros My meal The sangria And the bread basket Cons The service The ridiculous heat in the restaurant So we were greeted by someone walking by asking us to hold on, my mom and I were taken to a table right next to a sliding door. I was very confused at to why the sliding door was wide open on a night where it was easily still 90 degrees at 9pm. It was the most uncomfortable dinner I've ever had to sit through. Imagine trying to enjoy a really well cooked pasta in the heat. I'm still asking myself whose bright idea it was to have the door open instead of the AC! Next the service really was not impressive at all. The waiter did not show any interest in making sure my mom and I enjoyed our meal; he didn't even come by to ask how the food was once we were served by someone else. I asked for a straw 4x to 4 different people in a span of 15-20 mins. My mom expressed that her eggplant tasted as if it was reheated and burnt. She was not a happy camper. Me on the other hand- I was satisfied with my pasta and sangria. To be honest if ever in DC Again I wouldn't come back unless I ordered out and was able to sit in a nice air conditioned room where I could serve myself because it didn't seem like the waiter wanted to wait on us at all. read more

Restaurant week review: Apparently after I was already at the place. They informed me that "at this time we don't have lunch" I was pretty upset upset about that since they advertised it. It took forever for the waiter to come out to take our order, and apparently you get bread, but didn't receive it until I was half way done with my entree. Just worst experience either And I can't forget about this lady who apparently doesn't know how to talk. She just looked at our glass that was too far away, and when my partner finally grabbed the glass and brought it closer, she poured and walked away. read more
