Just wow. The donuts, or, bombaloni, are incredible. They are beautiful, stuffed with a generous amount of filling and with so much love. Best donuts I've ever had. The shortbread checkered cookies were amazing and fresh--even close to their closing time. And this is coming from someone who isn't a big cookie fan, but I would go back to Williamsburg in a heartbeat just for them. If you're expecting a bakery with the regular assortment of cupcakes/cookies/cakes, you're going to be disappointed. It's an Italian bakery, so most of the desserts reflect that. Went here last night and it was pretty good. Only gave 1 star less because of ambiance. The food and the service was super nice. Almond biscotti Chocolate Mousse Biscotti was crunch and the toasted almonds were great. The chocolate mousse was my absolute favorite. I'm a dark chocolate lover so it was the right balance of cacao and not overly sweet or milky. The mousse texture was fantastic. The Rainbowpannetone sample was also a nice surprise. They let us try and it was moist and the tangy jam balanced the sweetness from the cake. read more

This spot has felt like a second home to me always since my youth.In how warm and welcoming the staff are.When they have moments of a busy rush the staff makes sure to ask "Coffee while you wait? Or cookie to snack on" The energy just expresses home the smell and smiles are always welcoming. I would have included a picture of what I purchased but as always it never makes it home its in my tum tum. This place and its food are a part of my past and when I moved back to Brooklyn so glad to see the fantastic flavors are the same and some new groundbreaking treats. I was invited to dinner by some friends of mine, and I decided to bring some desserts from this Italian bakery in Brooklyn. I was surprised by their amazing quality and delicious taste of their fruits tarts and gluten-free chocolate cake. One of my friends, present at the dinner, actually is celiac so she cannot have gluten at all. Nino, the Settepani owner told me "don't worry at all, we are very detail-oriented when it comes serving glute free dessert. Your friend will be fine". He was right. She loved so much that cake and she was asking me where to go to get it. So I thought that if there are other ppl with the same problem looking for suggestions, well Settepani is definitely your place. Grabbed a birthday cake for my boyfriend's father. One of the few bakeries around that was still open at 7pm on a Sunday and was selling whole cakes. Alas, my review is limited to that one cake we purchased: the strawberry shortcake. The cake itself was more than enough for the five of us. It was moist and soft; it had no qualities of stale-ness nor any indication that it had been sitting there for too long. There were strawberries of a copious amount. On top and within the layers and they weren't soggy. Our only complaint actually was the syrup or compote. It was very viscous and made the cake more sweet than necessary in our opinion. However, the cake as a whole was not diabetes in baked-good form. I've an inkling that we are just used to Asian cakes which are less dense and border between 'sweetness nonexistent' to 'barely sweet'. Oh, and the price was agreeable: $15. Pleasantly surprised and money well spent! We will be coming back to try the cookies! (I hope my bf reads this! *hint hint*). Please note: I believe it is tailored to the to-go and to-order customers as the seating is limited to one table. This does not take from their selection or the quality of goods however. I have gotten birthday cakes at Settepani many times, and they have been good. Last night I needed another. I checked the hours...they are listed here as open till 11 PM on Friday. I was co-hosting a birthday party that started at 6. I didn't have time to get a cake before the party started, but it was only a few doors away from Settepani. I showed up at 9 PM for the cake; and found Settepani closed tight. I then had to run all over Williamsburg looking for a last-minute cake. This caused me to miss an hour of the party I was co-hosting, not be present to host my guests, etc. What happened??? This listing error needs to be corrected. People rely on hours being given accurately. read more

I am so glad they are close to my home. I love going to independent businesses, especially for the holidays, and spend what little bit I have. My plan this year is to pick up some goodies. Everything on display is stale all of the time. I wish it were good, but its not. I've walked by twice a day for over 5 years wishing it was a good bakery. I imagine they make their business in wholesale bread (trucks roll through every night) and custom cake orders (lots of pos reviews here for those) but they should really just get rid of their pastry case since everything in there is gross and just makes their business look bad. I live in the neighborhood and bought sugar cookies once before that were ok. I recently purchased the Mocha Cake from them to celebrate my mother's birthday. It was one of the worst cakes we've ever had. It was dry and the cake layers had zero mocha flavor, it was just dry white cake layers. The frosting was plastic-y and not real butter and also did not taste like anything. the canned grocery store frosting tastes a million times better than this stuff. Everyone just pushed the frosting off the cake. We couldn't even wash this gross frosting off the dishes. Why would they even sell this low quality cake? I like to support local businesses so it's just too bad. Definitely one of those places where looks prevail over the taste. Overpriced too, will stick to Fortunato, Blue Stove, Bakeri and Whole foods when I need quality baked goods. I'm disappointed I came back here. The first time I came I had a normal experience here with buying a loaf of mediocre bread and getting some cookies that I was overall very unimpressed with. But I walk by this place every day and it has good reviews so I decided to go back. The meringue cookies were inedible. The giant M&M cookie was horribly dry and crumbled in my hands. Yeah, one of the most basic cookies out there. I'm being nice and giving this place two stars because I haven't had the coffee or the tarts or cakes which they might have done better. But as far as I can tell, after my experience with three separate products, something is really wrong with here. I don't understand how these people make any money. I have a tendency to go in there, buy a few fruit tarts, a chocolate macaroon or two, an apple turnover, a couple cookies or homemade chocolates - basically piles and piles of sweets and cakes and pies and breads, and it never comes to over ten dollars. I suspect the majority of their profits come from their business of selling their desserts to local restaurants. They also do fresh gelato in the summertime.....mmmmmm. And the staff is always friendly and helpful. I wish they'd get more than one table in there, tho! It's just for takeout, which is too bad. read more

A friend of ours sent us on a mission while visiting New York. "Bring me back Rainbow Cookies!" Clear enough. Apparently, she had looked high and low for Rainbow Cookies in the DC area and came up empty-handed. So while staying with my sister in Williamsburg, a quick Yelp search revealed this little bakery just over a mile away. We stopped by the little shop on our way back home, and found the owners in a spirited discussion with a customer about Turkey sandwiches. It seemed like a very comfortable, neighborhood atmosphere. After ogling the display of confectionary treats for a couple of minutes, one of them left the turkey sandwich discussion to help us. I had never ordered (or had) Rainbow Cookies before, so I wasn't sure the exact protocol. The staff was very helpful and friendly, and gave us a nice little package of a half-pound of Rainbow Cookies to take with us. We dipped into the stash on the way home to try a couple, and they were indeed very delicious, although perhaps poorly named since they are much more cake-like. Their quality was confirmed by our friend, who said they were very good even compared to other Rainbow Cookies she had had. I suggest people go to Settepani for all their Rainbow Cookie related out-of-town missions. read more

A cafe latte and a cinnamon roll cost $3.00 total. Gelato is $2 for one scoop or $3.50 for two. A gorgeous fruit tart to share is either $14 or $22. It'd be impressive to take to a dinner party. YUM. Sometimes it's a terrible thing that a bakery is on your way home from work...sometimes, not so much. I stop in everyone once in a while for a few cookies (crazy enough, I have restraint...and i'm not crazy into sweets, so I does just hit the spot occassionally). However, when I have people over, I like to grab their black forest cake, which is awesome. They also have great iced coffee in the summer and gelato. They offer a variety of cookies and a few pastries. They're good too, so I'm definitely a repeat customer. read more

For several weeks I was without a coffee maker. Because it was so ridiculously close, I purchased breakfast at Settepani everyday. I had became a regular by circumstance, greeting the same sweet ladies every morning. They were always a delight and anticipated my needs before I could conjure up the words forming in my fuzzy brain. Then, the inevitable happened. I replaced my coffee machine. I grew up in the south and would eagerly await when family members would come down from Brooklyn to bring all the treats from the italian bakeries in Bensonhurst. So, when I recently moved to Williamsburg, I set out to find a bakery that would satisfy my long unfulfilled cravings. I found Settepani. Appearance wise, it's a beautiful bakery. I found the staff to be helpful and pleasant. When I went in just before christmas eve, I believe I met the owner who was very pleasant and struck up friendly conversation about my family when I mentioned that I hadn't seen Struffoli since my grandmother passed away. I took home the struffoli, cannoli, Christmas cookies, a baguette, and almondine tarts. Everything was wonderful... and reasonable. Wheelchair bound customers note... there is a slight 1-2 inch lip at the front door... depending on your chair you should be able to get over it easily enough. I'm going to talk to them next time about maybe smoothing it out. read more

Desserts are: old and dry Service is: unwelcoming I live near here so I've given this place two tries. Each time the service was terrible and I never felt welcomed. I've gotten cake and a brownie and a croissant. The food has been terrible each time. Specifically, the cake tasted a few days old. The brownie had this weird crusty bottom and the croissant was rather unflaky. Each of my desserts smelled like the place. Or like the refrigerant that they use, which is kind of disgusting unless you like eaten old, crusty freezer burned pastries. Never coming back here. Stop selling old ass food! read more

I used to live across the street from Settepani and there was nothing greater than walking out the front door to the smell of their delicious baked goods. The staff are really nice and patient, there are free samples crumbled on the counter, and their little dessert cakes are fairly priced and tasty. My bf and I brought them to a family gathering for dessert and the fam was largely impressed. The loaves of bread are awesome and cheap. I haven't had their coffee, but there's always a small line when I pass by on my way to the subway in the morning, so I assume it's as respectable as their desserts. The only downside is, as others have noted, that there is limited seating. read more

I came to Settepani super last minute and without ever having had used them before. The day before the party to be exact and Antonio took my order. Even though it was so last minute he was able to create a design that I wanted and the cake looked like the picture I sent him with just a few tweaks that we discussed. The cake was ready in time and was packaged carefully for our pickup. All my guests were impressed at how beautiful it was while on display and then at how delicious it was when it was served. I'm so happy there was just enough left to take home so we're able to enjoy it today. I'm looking forward to the next time we will need a "wow" cake. Thank you so much! read more

this bakery has one of the best Cinnamon buns I've ever had. it was so moist and almost flaky that brought me back to my childhood immediately. And it was only about $1.50. All other pastry seems to be pricier considering the location. For instance very small Panettonne is about $10. I just got Panettone made in Italy,( it was very fresh ) from Trader Joe's and paid about $5~ $6, The panettone was at least 3 times bigger than the small one from Settepani Bakery priced at $10. I also had sfogliata from the Settepani, which was pretty bad. I am not comparing to the ones that I had Italy. In general sense, the textrure of the shell was a way off. It was just too hard to chew on, and the filling was too pasty almost like eating glue. read more
