I love the redesigned Settepani. The space is inviting, clean, and modern. I love that they serve two roles in the neighborhood: a cafe by day and a vibrant restaurant and event space by night. There's always something happening here, and I love to see that. The food is also pretty good, but with a few caveats. The dinner food is good! But it's also on the expensive end of casual dining for very small entrees. And what really needs work is the cafe side of things. The espresso is decent but I was so disappointed with the pastries. I got a croissant and it was hard and bland as tasted like a bad grocery store 24-pack. There are so many amazing bakeries to source from around here, too. Overall, it's a nice place to go on a date. If I could give zero stars I would. Got there on a Sunday night, there was barely anyone in the restaurant - THERES A REASON FOR THIS. Ordered the mango mojito and a regular mojito - they were served to us as a rum tonic with a singular piece of mint and a lime in the drink. Tasted horrible and sent it back and opted for wine instead. They got our dinner order wrong and took the food back - my seafood spaghetti tasted absolutely disgusting - the seafood was chewy and there wasn't even salt added to the dish. The "sauce" just seemed to be the pasta water it was cooked in. I paid almost 40 dollars for this. My friend got the lobster roll and it came cold, on hard bread, with rice that was crunchy. We barely touched the plates and asked for the check. We were one of two parties in the restaurant - there's no excuse for such horrible service and terrible food. I threw up on the way home. Brunch was good. Steak was pretty bland however the kale shrimp salad was very salty. Sadly service during Brunch was very disorganized, no steak knife given with steak, our salad came before our drinks- regular coffee- our brunch main came before our cocktails. Worst service I've had in a while. Got there about 7:35pm. My wife went in and was told to wait outside someone will be with her shortly. The person who said that (tall, fair skinned gentlemen) never came back out to us or even acknowledged us with eye contact. Fifteen minutes later we had to hail down someone. By this time all 4 servers had walked past us without acknowledgement and had seated and bought water to two parties that came AFTER us. When we finally were able to hail someone he said he "thought" we were here for Uber eats or a delivery service. How do you presume someone standing outside for 15 mins is doing anything without talking to them or other staff. After hearing this we left. It was 7:53. This is a cute little restaurant we happened to stumble upon! We ordered the duck and waffle and crab cake Benedict. Both were very delicious! i would definitely order both again honestly. the duck was slightly crispy and very fresh and tender. the crab cake was very creamy and flaky at the same time. it was a delight! we went during brunch hours so i got the carafe of mimosa to share so it was perfect portions for two people **the servers were very friendly but a tad bit slow. the food took awhile to come out and the server wasn't too attentive but always had a smile on. read more

Service- specifically Emma- needs improvement. If she'd been more pleasant and attentive during service, then I could've overlooked the basic, kiddie meal-portioned food. I only ate the shrimp/kale salad, which was fine, but very small and underwhelming. My friends said their pastas were tasty, but they were still hungry after- and that's rare for Italian fare. My friend took the visiting me to this place up in Harlem, since it was close to where he is living (can I say - I LOVE Harlem?!). This place was really pleasant.. we went in without reservations so had to wait a little bit, but the staff was accommodating. I ordered the rabbit dish.. first they had it, then they didnt, and then they came back to dispel the awful rumor of nonexistent rabbit. It was quite fun bantering with the waiter and owner on those points. We finished off our meal with the blood orange panna cotta. It was the perfect finish to a "heavier" meal. A friend and I came for brunch which includes an entree and one carafe of a brunch cocktail of your choice for $25 or unlimited drinks and an entree for $35 which isn't too bad. I ordered the cornbread waffles and duck leg with jalapeño maple syrup. The duck was AMAZING. Crispy, perfectly seasoned, moist. This restaurant has a great ambiance. It's a nice place to take your mom out to dinner or for brunch. As for me, I was unhappy with my choices. My cousins ordered the stuffed chicken, they loved it. I got the shrimp and asparagus pappardelle. It tasted very shrimpy, I'm not big on foods that have a high shrimp flavor. We ordered the dinner for 2, it came with sautéed potatoes (so good) two whole branzino fish (good but needed salt) string beans(so good), and a flourless chocolate cake(wasn't good). This place is perfect for the business lunch, group date, mid afternoon or after work drink. Very classic interior that's non pretentious but far from a "dive." There's outdoor seating as well so you can enjoy people watching on the most popular avenue in Harlem. They try pretty hard to keep the menu interesting and the owner is almost always on property. While I am not a big fan of the food, I continue to support the establishment because of the atmosphere. Its also perfect for dining alone if you chose. First, the venue is tight. Very small and the decor is outdated. We came here to celebrate a birthday with brunch on a Saturday-BIG MISTAKE. The busboys where the only attentive employees. He had an iPad for taking orders but he seemed to get annoyed with it and just started relying on his memory-BIG MISTAKE #2 the kitchen was not informed about two of our orders. By this point I was ready to go. Nevertheless we stayed and tried to enjoy ourselves. The music was soul shockingly loud which resulted in us yelling over it in order to make conversation. The waiter(he never gave us his name but he had dreads) returned and informed us the restaurant was out of Bellinis. Unfortunately the person in our party who ordered this was allergic to the other "prefix brunch" drink offerings. She asked if they could make something without a specific ingredient and substitute it. They ended up making her a cranberry juice and champagne "mimosa" which left a lot to be desired. The drink finally came 30 minutes into the meal AFTER everyone began eating. Our food came and it was mediocre at best. Microwaved bacon and soggy avocado toast! We're huge social media users and no one out of the party of 5 took pictures of the sad food. I had high hopes for this place. This place is so special to me. I went here a few times this summer and it became my spot. The bartenders are experienced, the outdoor seating is comfortable they created a dinner entrée for me that was not even on the menu and that REALLY made me feel special and fancy! Visited Settepani for the second time since its recent redesign, this past weekend. The redesign has made the space a bit more of a shocking white and little cold in comparison to the warmer hues it had before. But with that said, I was excited to support a business I have always had a fond spot for. But I was sorely disappointed in the food and the ambience. I went during brunch hours on Sunday and was struck that the service was inconsistent, though I suspect this is not on the fault of the servers - who were trying incredibly hard to be attentive - and more on the kitchen, which seemed remarkably slow. One waiter provided the table next to us bread and olive oil to nibble on, but we had to make the request for it, in order for us to get any. The table to left of us also noted the bread and similarly had to make a request. Both my companion and I ordered the cacio de pepe. Though the pasta was fresh, it was also very watery and had very little flavor of cheese; it is my impression that this dish is supposed to be far stronger in flavor. And the food took quite some time to come out. I guess the restaurant now is exhibiting art work and working with some artist coop nearby. I think that's a fantastic idea and I am in huge support of giving opportunities to local artists. With that said though, I guess management didn't have foresight that perhaps it would be better for the coop to set up BEFORE service, and as a result there were people nailing frames into the walls and taking photographs over our heads at things hanging behind me during the meal. It was disruptive and distracting. I commend the waiter for being extremely attentive and responsive to my feedback, but I generally don't understand why there wasn't better planning around this. And while my companion and I were admiring the work, we got a slightly defensive inquiry from the woman hanging the work as if she were offended we were watching. Sorry to say but it was hard to not when the nailing was as loud and distracting as it was. All in all, not a great experience. read more
