Most dim sum spots around me were closed by 2:30 PM, and it was already close to 2, so my buddy and I decided to try Mr. Siumai. Walking in, I noticed they have two self-order kiosks, which is a plus. The place is remodeled and has a more modern, contemporary feel compared to before. Same location, different name. Then I saw the prices. $6 for 3 pieces of siumai! That's $2 per piece, which is honestly wild for a mom-and-pop dim sum spot. We ordered duck, fried rice, siumai, shrimp rice rolls, chicken feet, and a few other items. The siumai was just okay, nothing special and definitely not worth the price. The fried rice was good. The chicken feet were solid. The shrimp rice roll came out without the usual sauce it's always served with. When we asked, the staff just pointed to the soy sauce on the table. If you eat dim sum regularly, you know that's not the same sauce. Overall, the food was hit or miss, and the pricing doesn't match the quality. The remodel looks nice, but higher prices alone don't justify average dim sum.

I am so pleased with this little dim sum spot. It's a fresh take on takeout dim sum. Quite affordable too - about $55 for enough food to feed 3. There are a handful of tables but a lot of folks did takeout. They have all your favorite dim sum dishes, including chinese donut cheung fun. My favorites were their siumai which was so flavorful and meaty, and the chinese donut cheung fun that's best when it's fresh. Next time I'll try their har gow and egg tarts!

    So cute!

My friend wanted dim sum, so we searched around for a new place to try after a hike. We ended up at Mr. SiuMai because of the pictures. When we got here, it wasn't what I had imagined - unlike usual dimsum places, we ordered at a kiosk in front (or with a staff), sat down, and then waited for our order to come out. There's some space for dine-in, but it seems most people came in to either order to go or to just pick up. We came on a Wednesday mid afternoon, so it wasn't too packed, but I could imagine the wait during normal lunch/dinner hours. There was a good variety to choose from and we ended up ordering about 11-12 different items. All of them looked good and we wanted to try a bunch of different things. We got our own water, small plate and napkins, but staff brought out a pot of tea for us after asking if we wanted some. Our order came out pretty quickly and everything was great. I especially liked the piggie custard buns! Of course, we ended up taking a good amount to go. I would like probably come back here just to pick up some dimsum to go next time I'm around.

Came here to get a quick bite without dining in for dim sum. This place has different variation of siu mai that makes me excited to try. Curry siu mai (5/5): Imagine Japanese curry flavor with siu mai. I loved how juicy it was and how I could taste the juice with curry. Overall I hope to come back again

    Chicken Feet were pretty tasty

I have frequented Mr. Siu Mai a handful of times now. When the craving hits for some quick dim sum, I don't hesitate to come here. Usually I try to arrive before noon on the weekend as the parking lot can be pretty crazy. The ladies working here are efficient, and if there is nobody else in the store you can just order directly in front of the steamed dim sum and fried dim sum areas. Otherwise the kiosk shows all their offerings My favorite dim sum dish is their spicy siu mai. Once I got to try a piece of curry siu mai since they were out of the third piece of spicy and that was not bad too. I also like their chicken feet and turnip cake. With each visit we try to get something else aside from the 3 mainstays but haven't been impressed with the fried items. The rice roll when I tried it was just okay as well and not the texture I prefer. I did like their mochi and the bbq pork puffs but don't crave those regularly. I haven't had a chance to try any of their noodles or bbq dishes yet so will update when I get an opportunity to have those as well.

Came for lunch as a group. The parking is in a lot shared with Pho Kim Long, so think in terms of small compact spaces and limited parking. There are a few tables inside and for party of 6 we managed to get a combined table near the fridge. There are 2 more small tables near the entrance and a long table for outdoor seating. I have not been back for awhile, and this time we tired a variety of dim sum. We felt that the quality has come down a bit, my judgement is: OK: Chicken feet, spare ribs, siu mai, beef chow fun Meh: sticky rice in lotus leaf, beef rice noodle roll (the house made soy sauce did not elevate any flavor), congee with pork and century egg (no seasoning) Will not order again: Shanghai dumplings XLB (thick skin and breaks at the bottom when trying to scoop it out from the tin foil. They do have soup inside. My all time favorite is their taro cake, which is sold in a whole 8" tin. It's a fridge item; I like to slice it and pan fry at home. Service is minimal other than delivering the food to the table. We got our own extra bowls, spoons and napkins, etc. So expect self service. When talking to the staff, they are friendly.

We stopped in here for dim sum since I was craving for a quick bite. We ordered lots of dim sum dishes at the screen. You can order it to go too. We saw lots of people taking out dim sum. I also have door dashed some food from here too. lol...turnip cakes, bao zi, dumplings of all sorts, xiao jiao, and shumai. We enjoyed it all. The mustard sauce was a little watery , but the food was still good. Yum!

    Peaceful morning dim sum vibes.

We always come and leave here with a great impression of the place. Good employees and great foods. It's a casual and small dim sum spot, but it's filled with colorful items and buns. Love it. Credit cards accepted at both kiosk machines for dine-in or takeout. Plenty of tables and chairs indoors and outdoors here. Nice. Menu items are generous and around $5.99 per dish, it's still legit for Cantonese dim sims and affordable in the area. Yes, crowded public parking lot shared with the smoke shop, Pho Kim Long restaurant, and others. However, if you arrive on weekdays during 9am/10am or so, you'll get good VIP parking with lesser foot traffic. Downside is always this ghetto parking lot which has narrow aisles. Mr. SiuMai is worth it though. They have a cute takeout bag too. Must love. Got my order very fast. Staff was friendly and experienced. Bao buns and sweet buns are all very good in presentation over the display counter. Spare ribs, salted egg yolk buns, regular shrimp siumai, leek & shrimp dumplings, small chow mein noodles, hot tea from a pot, etc. I'll definitely come back for spare ribs again because they add the yellow pumpkin squash that I love in it. Quality foods. No complaints. All were tasty and delicious. Poured my own soy sauce & hot chili sauce that was on my table. Good vibes. $5.99 per dish was well worth it. They have plenty of foods to choose from. It's like eating in Chinatowns. I like ordering at the kiosks too, but note that they do get lots of customers ordering takeouts throughout the day, so don't take too long at the kiosks. Great impression so far. I will be revisiting again. The iced lemon beverage was definitely for my tastebuds. Refreshing. I also purchased a BBQ pork & roasted duck rice plate to go. Looks great! Comes with veggies. I added a sponge cake for takeout and wow, it was huge!

I ordered the wonton noodles, fish porridge, and Chive dumplings. The wonton noodles and chive dumplings were standard and okay, but the fish porridge was phenomenal. The service was meh with inside seating but no line for indoor seating, but first to grab a table gets it. The ambiance seemed to be a largely takeout place with seating.

We found this dimsum place online and wanted to try it. Parking was tough as there was a very popular pho place next door. We walked in to kiosk stations to order our food. There were tables and chairs to eat in but it seemed like most people were ordering to go. It took over 30 minutes to get our order. We brought our food home and was disappointed. The soup was lukewarm and not very flavorful. The wontons were hard and chewy. But we did enjoy the shrimp and chives and the red bean sesame balls.

    Boba is not really boba
    Yu-pei H.

Skip ordering the boba! It's not what you would think! I ordered a thai milk tea with boba for the first time (which I thought would be the regular black pearls), but instead got a...well see the picture...crushed...crystal jelly??? I'm not sure how how else to describe. My friend and I went to double check with the workers since we thought they may have mixed up our order but they said that is how their boba is and that it was more of pearls not boba (their ordering says boba btw and aren't they the same thing?) Additionally they said since it was an add on of only 50 cents there was only a little bit. I mean...50 cents for an add on is pretty regular...for a regular amount but the issue was more like this is not what regular boba is or what you'd expect lol. Otherwise, been here a couple times (mostly for their red bean balls which r super crispy on the outside and I would say are worth). However, the first time I came here some of their dishes ...tasted kinda ...doughy (we ordered things like many diff siu mai) and gave me an upset stomach. Things are also pricey for a takeout dimsum place.

    Khanh N.

Best dim sum and service here! The room is small but clean. Really enjoy the quality here. Despite other negative feedback about this place..you must come and try it yourself to know how good it can be.

Hmm...I don't remember adding -roach- to my order

Half way through my chow mein and there I spotted a little critter. Hmm, but I don't recall adding roach to my chow mein. How thoughtful of them.

We knew to go early, since they don't take reservations and we often see lines outside. We arrived at 10:30am and the front manager said if we can be done my 12:30, that they had a table for us. Party of 12, since we got there early, we agreed. The side room had the biggest round table for us. They ask you what kind of tea you want, we like chrysanthemum tea. You order the items on the paper menu and it comes to your table. So we got going on the orders and TBH, we must be hungry, because we did a lot of orders (we had plenty of left overs). Tried some favorites and a few new items that we thought were unique to their restaurant. My dad has to order crispy noodle and chow fun, and we also ordered chicken fried rice. The service was prompt and attentive, with enough servers to take care of the side room. Since it was the "sun room", the sun was shining through the windows and it was bright. Review from my parents: it was just meh, they prefer the other place near our house. I think the food is good, but probably won't come back again with a big group of us, since they don't have many big round tables. And personally, I prefer the whole experience of the ladies coming around with their carts. Perhaps their dinner menu is also worth trying. Bonus for us is that we can literally walk to this restaurant. Parking could be an issue if you come later.

We stopped by for dinner with a large group of friends and family for a celebration on Friday. We had specified to our waiter that toddler is allergic to eggs and had asked him which dish does not contain any egg. He seemed flippant about my concerns, but eventually suggested beef chow fun and that it did not contain egg. Great - let's order that for my kid. When the dish came out, I served my son first so there's no cross-contamination from our other guests and had only fed my son from his plate with his set of utensils that I brought from home. Mid-way through our meal, his face had turned red and splotchy, which was a sign that he was having a reaction (we recognize it from previous visits with the doctor). We quickly stopped feeding his meal and observed his symptoms to see if would escalate. Our toddler ended up feeling very sick soon after and we left promptly. His reaction escalated and he proceeded to projectile vomit everywhere moments after leaving. Such a terrible and frightening experience. I hope this review just changes how the restaurant handles food allergies as they could have potentially been life threatening.

Doesn't look customers in the eye, provides minimal service, hell, we had to ask the support staff to bring us chopsticks for food we had delivered to us 10 minutes ago, which grew cold. He never checked in on us, and we were charged 20% gratuity since we were 12 people. I don't mind auto-gratuity, but when the service is nonexistent, it really doesn't sit well. Overall it was a good experience, but the service is the deciding factor of anyone one of us 12 returning. Really unfortunate service from our waiter, other support staff seemed really nice, but he wasn't in charge of taking care of us, sadly. We were thoroughly ignored. Again, food was good, but service was so poor that this review is mainly negative. Steamed Shrimp Dumpling (6 pcs, $16.99) - Yay for Pearl Bay offering these dim sum dumplings for dinner. These are HUGE har gow because there are two shrimp inside. Double yay!! Sweet Corn & Minced Chicken Soup ($18.99) - Velvety smooth and the perfect balance of savoury and sweet from the corn. Sweet & Sour Chicken - I didn't see this in the menu, but I requested for a plate of crispy chicken with a sweet glaze. Our waitress suggested this and said that she ask the kitchen to fry the chicken to a crisp. Although I would have preferred a little more crisp, I was happy with the flavour. Special Deep Fried Tofu ($13.99) - These looked a lot crisper than they were, but I still enjoyed the little cubes of fried tofu. Crispy Spring Rolls (6 pcs, $14.99) - These fried egg rolls were crispy, indeed. The side of sweet and sour dipping sauce were a good complement. Wok Fried Minced Chicken, Diced Fish & Pine Nuts with Lettuce Cup wraps ($23.99) - I heard our waitress ask if we wanted it with chicken, and I didn't taste any fish in the yummy mix. Very nice. Pan Fried Beef & Vegetable Egg Noodle - This was another special order that I requested. Very good. Dad really liked it, too. Deep Fried Sesame Ball - Yummy, but, again, I was looking for more crisp. Service was stellar again. Now that Ho Chow has permanently shuttered, Pearl Bay Restaurant is looking to become my new favourite Chinese restaurant in Fremont.

The 9 of us had the prefix $688 menu. There was a lot of food. Many other people had the same dinner. The food was fresh and piping hot. I liked the combination fried rice. It was loaded and had some crunchy tidbits on top. They was also a steak dish that came with shrimp that was delicious. It was also nice to be able to shop after dinner as there is a TJ Maxx Home goods right next door.

The dim sum carts have large variety and are fresh and fast, but the set menu helps alleviate the chaos and the decision of having to pick what to get haha. The food gets delivered fast and is fresh. The set menu has a large variety of different foods, from meat like duck and sweet / sour chicken, to veggies like mushroom and snap peas, to seafood like fish and lobster and scallops, as well as soup and fried rice. The food is served in waves, so there's always a new dish on the table every 5-10 minutes. The portions are massive! We always have plenty of leftovers to last us the rest of the weekend. Everything is tasty and seasoned well. My personal favs are the fried pumpkin, lobster noodles, and scallops, although all dishes were hits. Will definitely be back for the next group gathering!

Plenty of private rooms to dine in, 2 humongous TV, and plenty to space esp for a wedding. Well, we reserved for a party of 24. Placed our order, but the food took a while to come out. It did not seem so busy for a Friday night around 7:30pm. There were plenty of tables available. When our first dish came out, it was the fish maw soup. Which is usually eaten with red vinegar and white pepper, but there was none on our table. We asked for white pepper 3x and no one brought it to us. The soup ended up being ao bland, the only bland dish for the night, because everything else we ordered are SALTY!!!!! SALTY! SALTY! SALTY! We ordered 2 of everything bc we had to 2 tables. Thefried shrimp, SALTY! Honey walnut shrimp, SALTY! Expensive lobster with noodle, SALTY! A few tofu dishes, SALTY! Clams were okay. I forgot what else we ordered, but it was SALTY! And I wasn't the only one who felt this way. Service was HORRIBLE!! I had to ask for water for 3 different people, I order in English and Chinese, and still nothing. The white pepper we asked showed up around the end of meal. I'm not sure if all the staff were new, but it was horrible service. Especially for a $1,000 meal, we want better service, just asking for the bare minimum. Will not be attending again.
