    Fantastic pasta

Everytime Perbacco serves a single plate of pasta to perfection, an Olive Garden in suburbia hell dies a slow death. Love love love this place. The manager, our off the boat server and authentic owner were all amazing to talk to and learn from. True cordial professionals. Great Italian spot. True Italian food served by Italians, right out of central casting for Italian restaurant crew.

Came here with no reservation on a Wednesday evening for dinner. We were seated right away by the booth. This restaurant was participating in sf restaurant week so we ordered from that menu. It's $60 for a 3 course meal. The total with 20% tip came to $88. The service was great and our waiter was super friendly and attentive. However, I didn't love the food. I got the zuckerman farms asparagus with prosciutto for appetizer. My friend got the spring soup and it was the better choice! The asparagus was not flavorful and kind of hard. The second dish, I got the langaroli. This was pretty heavy but flavorful. I couldn't really taste the truffle or shortrib. For the final dish, I got the pork tenderloin as this was the recommended dish. I also thought this was pretty heavy. The spinach was really salty. I'd probably order something else if I were to come here again.

The staff at Perbacco sure do know how to make a girl feel like a princess! What an outstanding time I had here for my solo dinner in the city. Made a reservation for 6:15pm and was running late (darn traffic) so I called up and they were so nice and accommodating to my tardiness. When I arrived, they had a nice table waiting for me. I was eyeing the bar since normally I'm a girl who loves a bar seat, but it was nearly full and TBH this was one of those rare circumstances that the table was the best option. I noticed a few other solo diners this night, so clearly they do a great job at catering to us. To start, I had the Saturn's Moon cocktail. Super tasty! If you're into a smokey Mezcal drink, this one is it. I paired this with my starting dish of the Arancini and they made a perfect pair. The Arancini was crispy, delicious and sat on a dollop of a delicious sauce. Next, I had the citrus salad. Also very good! Juicy orange slices, arugula, nuts, pickled onions, and fennel. This was the perfect little palate cleanser after the arancini and before my main course. I asked my server, Edward, what drink he'd recommend to pair with this salad and he sent out a Perbacco cocktail. Citrusy and refreshing, so these together were great! For my main, I had their delicious short rib! This was incredible and so so tender. The maître d' offered me a steak knife for this that I most definitely didn't need, it was so fork tender! So yummy, with a few carrots and onions on the side. I asked Edward (again) for the beefiest red they had and he gave me a few options. The one I picked went perfect with the shortrib! To finish, I had a great little glass of port! Absolutely perfect ending to a great meal! Super wonderful night over at Perbacco! From the time I walked in, The maître d', to the hostess, my server, Edward all treated me like royalty. One thing about me is I'm a customer service lover and this place from start to finish was an incredible experience. I had such a great time and since I'm always in San Fran for work, this will be one of my go-to spots for a nice dinner!

    Caesar

My coworkers and I always have a great experience at Perbacco! This visit, we really enjoyed everything we ordered. We started with the caesar and arancini, and both were delicious. The caesar was well balanced (looks less dressed than it was), and the arancini were a standout--the sauce was creamy, addicting, and something we couldn't stop dipping into. For mains, we ordered the pappardelle, tajarin, and langaroli, and each dish impressed in its own way. *The pappardelle was excellent, though we recommend getting the horseradish cream on the side. The horseradish flavor is mild, but it could easily become overpowering depending on your preference. *The tajarin had the perfect balance of meat and noodles and was surprisingly very filling. *The langaroli were like little pasta pillows--soft, rich, and comforting. The truffle butter was absolutely heavenly and well balanced that it didn't become overwhelming after a few bites. This was hands down my favorite pasta dish of the ones we ordered. They offer Parmesan at the table, and while it may seem like a lot at first, trust them--they know what they're doing. You'll definitely find yourself wanting more cheese. Overall, this is a solid spot with great food and service, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 Noise Level: moderately loud Just about everything was perfect for this dinner. Our server Jamie was personable and efficient. The Italian 75 and Mamma Mia cocktails were great. The Acme bread and parmigiano butter were delicious. The butter was nice and soft, yay. The Little Gem Salad was great, delicate and not overly dressed. Our Tajarin and Agnolotti dishes were perfectly delicious, seasoned well. The fingerling potatoes were also great. Loved the duck fat making the potatoes very tasty. Roasted perfectly. The Butternut Squash Budino was great. Nice sweetness from the squash. The Brutti Ma Buoni was also very good. Very light. Can make a mess and shatter if you don't cut it right! The atmosphere was lively, and also elegant. We had a great time here and would love to come back.

This spot, located near the edge of FiDi and North Beach, features modern Italian food. The atmosphere and decor present an up-scale vibe, with a clear focus on sophistication and elevated service. The food itself is solid, with rich creamy pastas such as the tajarin, however, for the price you could probably get some tastier options in North Beach by paying slightly more. As a whole, this is a great spot for team gatherings or other events where you're looking to host large parties, while also having pretty good food. Worth checking out if you haven't been.

    BRUTTI MA BUONI

This was my first time at Perbacco. All ingredients are fresh and high quality. After receiving the Fritto Misto and the brussels sprouts as appetizers, it took a while (close to 40 minutes as an estimate) for our entrees to arrive. The brussels sprouts and Fritto Misto were both quite dry and not too flavorful, though the entrees made up for it. The Agnolotti was very much an elevated classic comfort food that had the perfect level of savory flavors. While it was good, I do think visual presentation of the entrees could be improved with extra garnish on top. For dessert, we ordered the Brutti Ma Buoni which was excellent - the powdered sugar exterior was lightly crunchy but tends to melt in your mouth while the inside was chewier and sticks to the roof of your mouth. This is definitely a common corporate dinner spot since it's in the Embarcadero and has higher prices as a result. Otherwise, this was a decent dinner overall and I'd recommend it to my coworkers when planning a celebratory team dinner.

Date of Visit: 9/5/2025 Visited Perbacco with our friends on a Friday evening. Perbacco is an Italian word for pleasure and surprises, which is how the restaurant wants to present to all the customers. Perbacco introduces Italian flavors in a modern way, with a great selection of food and wine. The owner Umberto Gibin shared his passion for Italian food and wine with Americans' ways of preparation. He opened many of California's finest Italian restaurants, including Chianti, and Poggio, and Perbacco and Gibin. Saturn's Moon $17 Husband got the Saturn's Moon made with Mezcal, lemon, orgeat, and passion fruit. The mixture of Mezcal with citrus fruits was amazing. Passione Tropicale $8 I ordered the passion fruit mocktail that mixes lemon, orange juice and passion fruit. A little bit on the sweeter side. Piastra Roasted Octopus $22 We ordered the roasted octopus for appetizer, with olive oil crushed potatoes, fennel, radish, and pickled onions on the side. There are a total of 4 pieces of octopus with salsa verde. Tajarin $29 We got one spaghetti, made with the hand cut thin tagliatelle, and 5 hour pork and porcini mushroom sugo. Risotto $34 We ordered the risotto which was very yummy. Risotto mixed with golden chanterelle mushrooms, yellow corn, pancetta, and parmigiano Reggiano. Love the way that yellow corn makes the risotto stand out with texture and complexity. Liberty Farm Duck Breast $40 And for the secondi, we ordered the liberty farm duck breast with stone fruit panzanella, arugula, frisee and duck jus. The duck breast was a little too thick so was not as tender and juicy. Overall it was ok.

One of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. The food was incredibly fresh and full of flavor, the drinks were excellent, and the service was easily one of the highlights of the night. My friend and I were treated like queens. The place was busy, so it was a bit lively, but nothing overwhelming. I can't wait to come back!

A bit more communication or accommodation would've been appreciated especially for a restaurant at this price point. that being said the standout crudo was the halibut aguachile. I think this was so fresh and the flavor combination is so unique with the sweetness of the stone fruit and the textures from the avocado and the hominy. the amberjack was also delicious too! it had a brightness from the citrus with the watermelon that stepped the dish up to the next level. the pastas were amazing! every pasta was cooked amazingly well and had an incredible bite you'd really only have with freshly made pasta. the orecchiette pesto was bright, not too oily and definitely surprised me as my favorite. the mafaldine cacio e pepe was a close second. the richness from the egg and spiciness of the fresh cracked black pepper was super, not to mention the pasta shape was so whimsical overall the food was spectacular. the dining experience leaves some to be desired. maybe not the best for large parties but for a date night or small party, this place could be a great choice

Amelia recommended one pasta dish per person in the party, to share family style (which ended up working well for us, since we also got three appetizers, and finished the meal with a small amount of yummy leftovers for tomorrow) so that's what we did, along with the starters... We got the "big juicy meatballs with tomato and pancetta," which were incredible; the bread was delicious and certainly is not just a side to the amazing (definitely juicy) herbed tender meatballs. I'd definitely get this again, along with the grilled zucchini with worm salt and mint, which was so flavorful and tasty. We also got the smokey romano beans with fire roasted tomato, which was also really good but just keep in mind the emphasis on the smokey flavor! It wasn't my cup of tea but that's for sure a personal thing. For pastas, I'd rank them in this order: 1. our favorite was today's lasagna du jour, which was mushroom! So delicious, with a crispy cheesy crust, soft tender interior, and an almost caramelized tomato sauce accompanying. 2. Reginette with pork sugo (meat sauce) and spicy turnip greens was next, which had wonderful flavor with the tomato-based sauce and pieces of pork but if you like it slightly softer texture it might not be for you (same with the fusilli; the go-to preparation is aldente!). 3. Fusilli alla vodka with tomato, calabrian chili, cream, basil, and added garlic butter shrimps; this one's sauce felt a little underwhelming and more watery than creamy, and I'm just now realizing that although the menu said four garlic butter shrimp (an extra $7), we only got three. I think I'd come back for the lasagna and/or to buy the pasta from their expansive stock, cook it a bit longer, and serve it covered in a decadent creamy sauce.

He even replaced my water and apologized after realizing he poured it to the brim, which really wasn't an issue but I appreciated his correction anyway. We ordered the side of wood grilled corn to start, I ordered the malfadine al limone pasta and my boyfriend ordered the spaghetti pomodoro. The wood grilled corn had a nice char to it and we enjoyed the accompanying sauce and cheese on top; however, based on the menu description I was expecting a little more of a Calabrian chili flavor / kick. The pomodoro was good but nothing to write home about, and the malfadine was a bit of a surprise / the highlight! I enjoyed the curly pasta texture and loved the lightness of the sauce paired with the salt flavor and complexity of the salmon roe on top. We love a good dessert but nothing caught our eye on the menu this time, as we don't prefer the soft, creamy desserts like panna cotta (as opposed to something more tangible like a cannoli). Lastly, we also had the following glasses of wine: Verdecchio, Verdeca, Montepulciano, and the Carignan Blend. As someone that loves crisp white wines with high acidity and minerality, I loved the Verdecchio. The Verdeca was refreshing but too light and not fruit forward enough for my preference. We both liked the Carignan, as we like deeper berry flavors, and the Montepulciano was OK (didn't love but didn't dislike). Would definitely love to come back and try some of the other wine varieties and menu options!

You get perks as a thank-you for doing your part in making the City a cleaner place. We had just had a lovely time at another participating business (Beehive) and planned on Arcana being our final stop. Thankfully I was able to use the restroom without a fee, with my gear held up outside by the security team. While waiting in the restroom line, I told a staff member about all this, and the worker seemingly went up to the front to find out what's going on. The line took a few minutes, my friends also bumped into me, and I told them I'd likely wait for them outside the business post-restroom while they finished their wine. Already reported to the Mayor's Office. Maybe I'll add BBB. Should be honest and equitable! Four out of 200+ reviews by me have been one star, so I rarely share negativity. It's all rather unfortunate as other visits here went off without an issue. I warned a group of four about all this while I waited out front, and after talking to the front door folks, they left and thanked me for the advice. Please be careful if you visit here. . . .
