One of my new favorite spots after just one visit. Great atmosphere, great selection of food and cocktails. It's rare that I look at a menu and have 7 or 8 things I want to try, but this defiantly hit that note. Ultimately we ordered Devils on horseback (bacon warped dates) which were my favorite of the evening, butternut squash, the white fish, and the short rib (my second favorite dish of the evening). I've been coming to 76 since they first opened back in 2017. I've enjoyed their farm to table menu and seasonal treats throughout the year. While a more expensive restaurant for the Holland area it does not have to break the bank on date night. They have a plethora of reasonably priced wines by the bottle and servers with extensive knowledge to aid you in your choice. Definitely a place you want to get reservations ahead of time for if you're going later in the week or at prime dinner time. Their really good lemon chicken is a staple that has lived up to its name though I favor the mozzarella chicken cutlet. You have to try the devils on horse back, ask your server about them! Very friendly staff, and if you have any issues never hesitate to get the manager. They'll always be sure you leave on a good note! read more

We had the best short rib grilled cheese on English muffin toasted bread and cream of tomato soup. As well the garden salad was well assembled and dressed with arugula, heirloom tomatoes and shaved Parmesan. The Corzo tequila was the best I've had. Kelly tended the bar like a samurai winged Angel. Seventy-Six is a super cute restaurant in downtown Holland. They have plenty of free public parking options around on both sides of the restaurant. Upon arriving, we noticed they have a small outdoor seating area as well. I'm sure once the construction near them finishes, there will be more tables on the sidewalk. We got right in around 6pm and were promptly greeted by our cheerful server. She ran us through the menu and specials while taking our appetizer and drink order. We ordered the mussels that were the appetizer on special (without chorizo as we are avoiding pork and beef- sad face). The saffron cream they had them in was pretty tasty and it came with 3 garlic toasts - which were so good! Our drinks were cucumber mojitos and they were very refreshing - had quite a bit of garnish on such a small rimmed glass but that wasn't an issue - just took it off and made our empty mussel shells look good again! For main courses, we ordered the Really Good Lemon Chicken and the Crab Crusted Whitefish. I would give both of the entrees a 3.5/5 - they were tasty but could have really been broken down better - the fish came with just that - no vegetable or starch. The lemon chicken came fried and had an exorbitant amount of the thick lemon rice - which is good in moderation, but could have done with less. Overall, a nice experience but I think the food could be a bit more refined for the price. I would definitely be back to try some of the other entrees! read more

The food is eclectic and awesome! I recommend starting with the smashed avocado. The chip to guacamole ratio is perfect so don't hold back when scooping those first chips. Our last dinner in the area, we dined at Seventy Six. Great ambiance and spacing in the restaurant. We started with the goat cheese and wild mushroom queso. Normally, this isn't my jam, but it was so rich and creamy, it was well worth it. For entrees I split the 36 hour braised beef short ribs and the crispy Lake Michigan perch platter. The perch platter didn't wow me, just normal fried pieces of fish. But the braised beef short ribs, were excellent. Super tender and paired so well with the smoked gouda mashed potatoes. The food here was knocked out of the park. If you're in the Holland area, I highly recommend Seventy Six. read more

This was one of the highlights of my anniversary trip to Holland / Saugatuck. We went partly based on Yelp reviews, because we wanted something unique that also encouraged us to dress up a bit. We were greeted by a delightful host, questioned by a server who had a lot to say about their cocktails, treated to cocktails that exceeded our high expectations, and then he was conversant about the menu. Since we were out-of-towners, we oscillated between the specials and the regular menu (with two little kids, it will be a while before I can find myself at a nice place in Holland again). The waiter convinced me to try the chicken, since I had seafood several times already that weekend. It was excellent. My companion's meal was excellent. Service was great the whole way through. We even splurged on dessert (tiramisu creme brulee). We met a couple on the way out who were planning their daughter's rehearsal dinner and we told them they couldn't go wrong with this place. :) read more

It was kind of bizarre that when we drove by on Friday evening there was a line out the door to get in, and we were expecting the same since we're going during prime dinner time on Saturday night around but there were maybe 5 tables? The decor was modern/rustic, the service was great. We started off sharing the gumbo. Honestly, I would've been perfectly happy ordering 2-3 orders of that and call it my dinner. I would almost dare say this gumbo was better than some of the ones I've had down south. I was worried the gumbo was going to be better than my entree. The venison loin was on the special menu. If cooked incorrectly, venison can be very tough. He was smart to cook it rare and no warmer than that. It was, hands down, the best venison I've ever had. It was so tender. I spoke to a group in their private room last night. We had a limited menu but it was amazing! I had the tomato soup, salmon and dessert was a butterscotch bread pudding. I love their tomato soup and often get it for lunch with their grilled cheese! The absolute best take on this wholesome combo. The salmon was cooked perfectly.. not over cooked. It was placed over mashed potatoes but there was something different about the potatoes. The consistency was so creamy and there was a hint of horseradish! Yum. The roasted veggies were beautiful and perfectly cooked. The service was spot on and the guy (I wish I could remember his name) took care of 15 of us and never missed a beat. Ate here on a suggestion from a realtor friend and am still speechless 2 weeks later. The place exceeded our expectations in every way shape and form. The staff couldn't be more pleasant or upbeat. The food was off the charts. Deciding what to order from the menu was the worst part of the entire evening because there were so many great looking items to choose from. The goat cheese and mushroom app was out of this world. The short rib grilled cheese and tomato soup was out of this world. The lobster rangoons were out of this world. The short rib entree was out of this world. Wine was paired excellent and very affordable. Could not recommend this place enough. Now that's how you start a vacation. We were in Holland for our annual summer vacation. Chose this restaurant based on other's reviews. The wait was going to be an hour when we arrived. I quickly sent my daughter to see if there were any seats at the bar so at least we could sit and have a drink. There were 5, the number in our party. We took them, then was asked by Kate the bartender if we were going to eat there. Yes, yes we are. We had drinks, the lemon drop martini was wonderful, and ordered 2 appetizers, the devils on horseback and the mushroom/goat cheese queso with ciabatta. Both were so flavorful and delicious. Our entrees' did not disappoint. The burrata and beet salad, the crab cake encrusted white fish, the gumbo, everything was so fresh and tasty. Kate was attentive and talkative. Delicious meal! This place is almost a hidden gem, since it's a half block beyond the end of the Main Street. It was surprisingly not busy even during Tulip Time. But the food was fantastic. We had the lobster rangoons, pear and blue cheese salad, and fish tacos. The rangoons had a lovely balance of flavors between the savory crispy shell, creamy lobster filling (with lots of chunks of lobster), and sweet/tangy orange sauce on the outside. The pear and bleu cheese salad was also a great balance of sweet, savory, and creamy. Our favorite part of the fish tacos is that they were light and airy even though the fish was fried (usually not my fav way for it to be prepared). Loved them! For dessert, we got the espresso creme brûlé and the butterscotch bread pudding. The bread pudding was the definite winner because it was so rich. However, we both loved the creme brûlé too because it was packed with espresso flavor and had a thin sugar shell that wasn't overwhelming. T would have even been a little better with a strawberry or something that could have given it a fresh burst. Great experience! read more

Went in for a family Night with my wife and 2 sons, asked for a table and we're told to wait a few minutes. One of the waiter guys with long hair to his ears whisper something to the hostess and the she told us there was no more tables for the night. There was 2 hours left until closed and was told there was plus not a big line waiting. They suggest we eat down the street at poquito a Spanish restaurant. Not sure if they tried to assumed because I'm hispanic that I would be better off eating Spanish food. Will never go back for sure. read more

My bride and I went here for our 15th anniversary and it was great!! We started with the lobster appetizer and it was perfect!! The sauce was amazing. Then for the main course I had a flank steak with blue cheese, rice,and broccolini, two thumbs up!! My wife has the crab crusted whitefish, it was awesome. The only thing thats holding back from 5 stars is the need for a side of a starch with the fish and the creme brûlée was cold. Maybe that's the style, that's cool, just not what we were expecting. You know when you go to a restaurant with great reviews you'll most likely love the food but there may be a thing or two you didn't care for as much? Not here. Everything we ordered was phenomenal. My husband is a burger fan - he is tough to please (critical of bun to meat ratio, cheese, meat grind and flavor etc.). He said as soon as he saw the meat proportion and that it was a double patty he knew it'd be good. And it was. This is saying a lot. One slight drawback was that there was no changing table in the restroom; however, our server helped us find a comfy and private alternative which I so appreciated. Great, fresh, local in a very nice restaurant. The space has a great vibe. There's a wood wall in a chevron pattern made of reclaimed wood that just sets the tone. The tables are big butcher block and the chairs are mismatched in a cool way. And the food, ok wow! The vibe in the restaurant is just a hint at how good the food will be! I ordered the very good lemon chicken based on yelp reviews, it is Very very good! I would describe it as a delicious lemon chicken with a fantastic crust! And the creamy lemon rice that it comes on top of is a great balance of creamy and tart lemon. There is also just a hint of sweet, I think it's in the crust, plus peppery arugula along with toasted pine nuts. It's a great dish! I was deciding between the Meyer lemon drop drink and a glass of Prosecco, our waiter suggested the Prosecco which was totally the right choice. Hubby had the miso glazed scallops with roasted Brussel sprouts, this dish was also well balanced, perfectly seasoned. And both dishes came to the table steaming hot which was also nice. Kevin was helpful and very well informed about the weather, the menu and the foot traffic in town. Gorgeous setting and layout of the restaurant was upscale and unique. We didn't have a reservation but had no problem sitting at the bar for dinner. Menu looks incredible and it was difficult to choose! We ended with two fish dinners: brown sugar salmon and whitefish. The wine list was extensive and broad. But. The food runner held plates with a thumb from each hand very clearly IN the dish to be served. The server staff congregated at the end of the bar where we were eating, doing shots and drinking beer. The salmon sat in a puddle of some spicy sauce which was a moat around a pile of rice. The whitefish. Ugh. Topped with a thick layer of crab meat, which was then literally smothered in horseradish cream sauce. Every inch of the plate was drowning in sauce. It didn't compliment the flavor of fresh whitefish. It sort of covered it up. None of us finished our meals. It was just overall a disappointing $150 to spend. We won't be back. read more

From reading the reviews, perusing the website and talking with our server, Seventy Six is a new addition to the downtown Holland dining scene. I predict if I come back months from now my rating would be higher, but for now... It's a small place and in warmer weather months am sure waiting outside will be fine but on a snowy cold night, you're either packed together in a line near the entrance or huddled around the small bar area, in the way of their hustling workers the entire time. Food wise, it's interesting, with some good appetizers, such as lobster rangoons, while the crab cake had good texture and crab taste, but little else. The bacon wrapped dates have potential, if cooked a little less and with maybe some goat cheese included in the mix. Entrees were interesting-my wife's whitefish with crab stuffing was tasty and had good sauce. My tomahawk pork chop was just o.k. with the side being a mound of hash browns with crushed hazelnuts could have used some sauce to lighten things up. Great server-didn't catch his name-was very conversational and helpful. I recommend giving Seventy Six a try and will if back in the area again in the future. read more
