IMPORTANT! I agree with all of the other posts for this place and the owner exhibiting a "shameless abuse of trust." I went in to have my car diagnosed for an issue that I suspected was happening. The issue typically costs between $300-$400 to correct. After a suspiciously abrupt and quick diagnosis, I was informed that I was, indeed, experiencing the issue, and that my grand total would near $600, a BLATANT overcharge (again - see the other posts). I was shocked by the estimate and proceeded to call another local auto body repair shop, who assured me that the service could be performed for $300, which was in the realm of my initial expectation. I informed the owner that I would like to take my car elsewhere, at which point he responded that the car was now "dead" and needed to be "charged" and told me to wait 10 minutes while the battery charged. This was clearly a lie -- the car was NOT being charged and came out of the garage a short few minutes later. He rushed out before I left with a comparable piece of equipment for the "NEEDED REPAIR" and attempted to negotiate with me, clearly assuming that I am a major idiot because I am a woman and went to the shop alone to request the diagnostics and have STUPIDLY taken my car there twice in the past and been overcharged by his disreputable business. I went to the other shop, waited for the mechanic to receive the "necessary part" (you will see why I am using quotations shortly), and was informed within a brief period of time that the diagnostics revealed that the part was functioning 100% properly. I even went into the garage with the team and witnessed them performing the diagnostics. I was charged $30 for an inspection, $570 less than that SWINDLER's estimate for a repair that DID NOT NEED TO BE COMPLETED! Absolutely disgusted and despaired that this actually happens. I always have faith in others to be honest and forthright and to not rob an individual in distress. I now see that the shop owner was BUYING TIME with his "car's dead" explanation and his pathetic, desperate negotiations. How could the owner look me in the face and lie to me and expect me to not find out once I indicated that I was leaving to have the "service" performed at another shop? Not the most intelligent or cunning individual I've met, that's for sure, but he is a deceitful excuse for a mechanic. I get it - maybe you wanted a little extra money for the holidays but please be aware that I work hard for MY money and you will never see another dime of it. Fine, go here to get your tire patched up and receive a slight rip-off. DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANY OTHER REPAIRS unless you are looking to be screwed. read more

The Yelpies are right on! I brought my car in for service yesterday and the place was clean, the guy I'm assuming is the owner greeted me warmly, and my car was serviced quickly. I had a problem with a warning light coming back on about an hour after Ieft and I brought it right back and the problem was solved. The only complaint I have is that there is no itemized bill. The thing that put my mind at ease was that as I sat there, at least 4 people came to pick up cars. Don't do it! Sure, a friendly enough place. But don't believe you are dealing with a small-time, local family guy. Not anymore. Just be careful. Sevillas routinely quotes me a price over the phone, gets my car on the lift and then this: "We discovered you also needed x,y, and z. So we did that (without asking) and those (minor) repairs will cost you about $600 more. Sign here." Never to me, but always to my wife. Like her, most of their customers don't know much about car repair so "freebies" like replacing a burnt out bulb and fixing a short seem like you are getting a bargain. But you're not. After the first good will service comp, you should watch for routine overpriced charges for very minor service. I paid near $800 for a distributor cap and spark plug replacement and the engine light still came back on before I got home. He had me bring it back in, hooked up the computer and simply turned it off. I'm certain it will be back soon. I've done my own car repair for years, so I expected the cap and wire replacement. (I told him my guess over the phone before taking it in.) But I expected it to come to a couple of hundred dollars for both parts and labor. I ended up paying nearly four times as much. I went because my wife and I try to support small, local businesses. But If "using OEM parts" impresses you, and you're willing to pay way over cost for it, then I believe you are better off taking it to a dealership--and getting better service and a fully detailed or itemized receipt. read more

I have a 1999 Audi A4. I just picked up my Audi after having it serviced at Sevilla's Auto Service. They replaced my Thermostat,Water Pump,and Timing Belt. So far I'm very happy and my Audi is running better then ever. Francisco, was very nice and informative. ok, this situation makes me laugh a bit now that I look back on it but here we go... My car had a flat tire so I called Sevilla's. No question about it were they fast. The guy came within 10 minutes and had me follow him back to the shop. I went into the office to wait for them to diagnose whether they would patch it up or have to give me a "new" tire. The owner then came in after about 15 minutes and told me the tire was completely slashed and that I would have to replace it with one of theirs. I said ok, and he then proceeded to write the invoice for $50. I told him I'm not paying $50 for a one of their used tires because that's what a brand new tire costs for my vehicle...I ended paying $50 (he explained the service call was included etc) ok, here's the good part..I called my husband and he said to go back and get my old slashed tire..so I did. Strange thing was that when I asked the owner to give it to me, he scrambled for about 20 minutes(pretending to look for it) whch he then came back and said that he couldn't find it and the guy that serviced my car had gone home..He then gave me $25 back??? When my husband saw the tire, he said "No crap he couldn't find it..your'e looking at it now!" so basically theyr'e scammers..won't go back there unfortunately. read more

MUST READ! Prior to purchasing a new vehicle I had taken my old car to Sevillas for 3 years. My family continued to take their cars in for servicing. Repeat customers for a total of 4 and a half years... In February 2011 had the transmission go out on a 96 Buick Regal. Francisco (owner) quoted me over the phone 900 for the repair, which he claimed he could do in 24 hrs. 1060 dollars, and three days later I get called in to pick up the car. Rebuilt transmissions carry a standard warranty of 12 months or 12000 miles. April 23rd 2011 less than 3 months after the repair the transmission goes out AGAIN!!! Not totally concerned because of the warranty I return to Sevillas and the first thing he says to me is "I thought you were going to sell this thing" per a conversation we had during the initial repair. After he takes a look at the transmission he calls me with this crap. "We found the problem, its going to be 180 dollars to fix". When I mention the warranty (for the second time since dropping off the car) he says "ok fine"! but you have to bring me 8 bottles of transmission fluid, and I will not honor the warranty after this repair. ????? WHAT! His pricing and so called quotes, are as one person put it a coin toss. 8 bottles of transmission fluid cost me 27 dollars. When I asked him why he wanted to charge me 180 dollars. He offered no explanation. Instead insisted I no longer bring my car to him if the trans acts up again. I assured him he will see me again and again if I have any more problems with my car. Needless to say the trans seems fine, but freebies? I think business must be bad if he cant supply the fluid necessary for the repair. When people say nothing is ever free. Thats is exactly the case at Sevillas. He will cover his costs and then some in the other pricing and repairs he does to your vehicle. As a side note I got into the car to test drive it after the repair and found my turn signals and emergency lights were not working. They worked fine when I brought into to him. When I asked if they may have disconnected something on accident. He got real defensive and asked me if I were accusing him of purposely doing something to my car. After I pointed out it was merely a question he seemed to calm down a bit. But that didnt do anything for my suspicions. He then says he can fix it for 200 dollars. Hmmmmm? The parts needed for the repair were 100 dollars and I had a friend put them in for free. This time there really was no charge, see honest people do exists. read more

This is still my place after almost 10 years. The prices are about market, sometimes a little more and other times a little less. One thing to keep in mind is that when given a quote it will probably be without tax. I recommend them because of the integrity of the owners. They are not going to charge you for something that does not need repair. There prices are about the same as most places but he does use brand parts versus after market. You can ask him to use the cheaper after market stuff but that is your call. One time when I was short of cash he even held a check of mine for almost two weeks since I'm a regular. Been using Sevillas's for the past 2 year now. First went there to take my old car for some some cheap tires. Put a new tire on and even topped off my fluids in the car. Got rid of that car and got myself a minivan after my daughter was born. Went in to get my brakes fixed and they fixed my breaks, helped me put my license plates on, and checked the rest of the car and told me what needs fixing next and what could wait a while. Finding a great repair shop is super hard. Often in Chicago you may find a great one and then "something" happens, either the person who was doing a good job leaves or just the process changes or the workload changes. After finding pretty great reviews on Yelp I take my 2006 Prius to Sevilla's. The first time was to replace a fuel pump that was recently "fixed" or replaced by the Toyota dealer in some mid town. Sevilla's is a fully authorized Toyota repair shop and can get exactly the parts you need. In addition the service is outstanding. I've taken my car back 3 times and have had great service every time, today we had a tire inflation mystery, they looked and took care of the issue in minutes and sent us on our way. What can I say......Francisco was recommended to me by a co-worker. I had my own mechanic so never gave it a second thought UNTIL I got gas the other morning & poof my car wouldn't start. My mechanic couldn't get there for at least an hour. I called Sevilla's and they picked me & my car up in 10 minutes. They had a diagnosis in a couple of hours, called me before any work was done & it was ready to be picked up when I got off work. Ive had my car worked on there twice. same type of service both times .top notch. My mechanic of 15 years retired 5 years ago and i.have not been able to find one with great service and great work until i went to Sevillas. i have a older car that has many minor things wrong with it. that i already know about. francisco the owner never pressured me into getting something repaired i did not want repaired at the time. both times i was there i was taken care or right away. and my car was repaired while i waited. not that they were not busy theres always alot going on, a sign of great auto service. however they have six bays and even more mechanics. I have 2 bad experiences with this place happen in less than 3 months apart. For a long period, I took my car in for oil and filter changes and was somewhat satisfied with the work (even though the oil this place uses comes out of a big bucket and not individual bottles). However, my car (5 years old) needed the battery change and I trusted Sevilla's auto service would do the job fair and correctly. I took the car in and they did replace the battery with, what the owner said was the equivalent of the original battery. Charged me a good price for it, game me a written receipt, with no breakdown of labor and material, and sent me on my way home. However, before I left I opened up my hood and in my surprise the new battery was 3 inches smaller than the original. I asked what is this and the owner told me that unfortunately that is all they have in stock right now and that I need to come back in couple of days for them to put in a right size battery. When I asked him when you planned on telling me that, his response was he meant to tell me, he just got carried away with other costumers. I looked over that because he was taking care of multiple people at the same time. The next week they did put in the right size battery. However, only half a year later, I went in to Jiffy Lube to get the oil change and they run a battery life test there as part of their service. The result they got is that the battery is weak and approaching its end and needs to be replaced. Between the battery replacement and Jiffy Lube oil change, I had 2 flat tires on my other car happen only a week apart from each other. First flat, I took the car in to Sevilla's, and they took off the tire and patched it. I paid, went home and when I got in my garage realized the rim was scratched in a circular shape all around. I assumed it was caused by a machine that was used to separate the tire from the rim because the marks were perfectly circular, but I couldn't be sure since I didn't see it with my own eyes. Well, not even a week later, I get a nail in the other tire and I go again to Sevilla's. Again they repair it and I go home. In my garage I realize the rim of the tire that was just repaired is also scratched with exactly same marks as the previous rim. Now I am sure that the machine used at Sevilla's damaged my rims. I decide to call the owner and let him know what happened and nothing more. I had no intention to argue or blame him or ask to be reimbursed. All I wanted is for him to know, so this doesn't happen on someone's car whose rims are $3000 or something. He tells me that he can't believe it's him machine and asked me to bring the car in so he can see it. So I, being stupid and nice, on my own time drive back to his place. I showed him both rims and told him it has to be the machine because the marks are identical. Right away, he gets loud with me and starts blaming me for not saying anything the second time I came in with flat tire. I calm him down and explain that I could do that because I wasn't sure was it his machine or not the first time and I didn't come to argue with him but to help him out so this doesn't happen to someone else who won't be nice like me. After he calms down, he still doesn't believe it's his machine and asked if he can take of the tire and put it on his machine to prove me wrong. I agreed. Now we have me, he and 2 of his workers looking at this machine separating the tire form the rim, and sure enough his machine is scratching my rim which was confirmed by both his workers. His explanation was that his worker wasn't using the machine properly and when he tried to explain to him how to do it correctly, the owner managed to get the machine stuck and couldn't get my tire of. He and his worked then used crowbar to get it off and in this process damaged my rim even more right in front of my eyes. Here I realized that this place sucks because their knowledge of cars and car repair is low if something simple as tire patching was this complicated for them. Once they got the tire off of the machine and back on my car, the owner told me that he will call me in couple of days and let me know where to take my car to get my rims fixed/patched. It's been 3 months and I am still waiting for his phone call. read more

My Ford Focus is celebrating it's 10th birthday this spring, and obviously it needs repairs as it ages. I have brought my car into Sevilla's several times now, and great service is the cornerstone of their business. My experiences have always been positive for the following reasons: I receive a phone call within a few hours of dropping the car off and they quote a price over the phone. The estimate price doesn't change much, if AT ALL from price on the final bill, as can happen at some auto repair shops. They guarantee their parts and services, and only use new parts from the dealer of your particular car. This is key, because using refurbished parts, or parts that were not made specifically for your make, model, or from the car company's manufacturer, can cause problems later. I brought my car in recently and the experience was so outstanding I was compelled to write a review. I have told all of my family and friends this story because I still can't believe it. The last 2-3 years I have needed to get my emissions tested in January to renew my plate sticker. This year, I suspected the temperature gauge was going bad and I was concerned my car wouldn't pass the emissions test. I communicated all of the this when I dropped the car off at Sevilla's. When I went to pick up my car, I was told that it had passed the emissions test. I was shocked and confused. The manager explained that after the car was fixed he drove it personally to the emission site, waited it line, then had it tested to ensure it would pass and everything was fine. I couldn't believe someone would do that because as we all know, getting your emissions tested is a pain, and not a great way to spend a Saturday. I was blown away, and a sense of genuine happiness and gratitude washed over me. Not only was the cost of the repair under industry standard, but they took on the responsibility of my larger concern, and saved me a trip to the emissions facility.
