I started going to Sevy's in the 90s and visited last night for the first time in nearly two decades. Time has been good to this outstanding restaurant. It's a great spot for people watching with the crowd leaning strongly toward an HP/UP demographic. Service was fast and attentive, and the food was delicious across the board. The portion sizes are perfect. The completely unnecessary valet parking is silly and annoying but that's really just a Dallas thing. We will return for sure. read more

Had lunch there about 1 yr. ago, and it was not good. Sevy found out who wrote the review, and contacted me by phone and asked if I would try them again - incentive with gift card. Tonight, my wife and I celebrated our 61st anniversary with our son and wonderful daughter in law. IT WAS FANTASTIC. Service was great, the red fish outstanding. The food was perfect. Our waiter was very nice. My friend and I had gotten together after many months apart. We have known each other since 1st grade. We ordered a bottle of champagne to celebrate. I got tipsy and said I love you. A second or two later we heard the bar staff and waiter making fun of me. I was beyond hurt. Legend has it it's a Roger Staubach hangout and he knows a few things about food so it should be good. Pretty standard menu; well done but not exceptional. Interior design gives the whole place a much bigger feel than the 180 person room. Tables are set well apart so you can have those business discussions and do deals while not being overheard. Good fish, lamb and salads but there's better places for steak. read more

We dined at Sevy's Grill on a quiet Saturday night during the start of the Coronavirus epidemic. The staff at Sevy's was dedicated to providing a clean and hospitable atmosphere for an enjoyable dinner out. Our waiter Pedro was excellent and added to our enjoyment. We ordered steak, quail and the seafood special of the night. Each entree was custom made to our personal requests and absolutely delicious. Pedro brought us a slice of decadent chocolate cake. Had lunch here today and really enjoyed the service and the fresh food. Waiter suggested the Red Fish Special for $21 which was a grilled redfish and veggies. Sure - it isn't often I spend $21 for lunch ... I seriously splurged today. Really good choice. I ordered a small caesar salad and had the cajun blackened redfish over rice with shrimp for my entree. The food was great. Delicious food and wonderful service! We started with drinks and the deviled egg appetizer at the bar. The eggs were very good and a bit spicy, which I love. Whe. When we sat at the table we were served calamari which was a gift from the bartender. I had the special which was a grilled halibut, I subbed the mashed potatoes for brussel sprouts. I believe this is the first Yelp review I have ever written, but I felt compelled to comment on Sevy's. I have driven past this restaurant for years, but have never been. Tonight we ordered their Mother's Day special takeout. The process was perfect...I pulled up, they verified my name and brought the food out within minutes...with masks and gloves. All 4 of us got different entrees and all 4 of us were very impressed. My 9-year old loved his salmon and my 13-year old loved the shrimp! This may become our new favorite place...and they certainly have the takeout process down during these strange times. Thank you, Sevy's, for making Mother's Day dinner great! read more

Came in for dinner as a party of 6. We were seated at a nice round table in the middle of the dining area. Our servers name was Spencer and he did a great job the entire night. He seemed a little nervous at first but once he realized we were a nice bunch he loosened up a bit. He answered all questions thrown at him from the members in my party and even suggested certain plates. He went through the specials of the day as well. I ordered a bottle of wine from the list and he brought it to the table, opened it properly and let the ladies taste to make sure they liked it. Then he poured each glass correctly and refilled their glasses to the correct 5 to 6 ounces when deemed appropriate. He was very polite to the mother and ladies in our party. I ordered the Redfish and loved it!! It's topped with spinach so I was a little concerned it might be overpowering but I loved the spinach and I never say that. I cleaned my plate and with the wine Joel Gott 815 it was very enjoyable. I felt like maybe the menu is a bit overpriced but to be honest, the food was on point and the measure of service you are receiving makes it worth it. They have a cool bar area with flatscreens I was spying the Cowboys game everyonce and awhile. I would go back again and hopefully sit in Spencer's section. read more

Grabbed a quick lunch with a coworker and we sat at the bar. The place has been around for ages and never disappoints. We got the amazing Spicy Duck Flautas to share as an appetizer. Both of us ended up ordering the Griddled Cuban Sandwiches, which were a good sized portion. Topping off the whole meal was the delicious watermelon martini!! It comes with fresh muddled watermelon. My first review of Sevy's featured their quick seating of our party, a bit of a strange service experience and good food that was not quite up to snuff with Houston's across the street. Once again my update will fall into those categories. My wife and I recently went back to Sevy's under the exact same circumstances as before; Houston's was too crowded. We dejectedly crossed the street with at least one other couple who was making the same sad decision. My wife and I noted that positioning a restaurant to catch the wait list run-off from Houston's is probably a pretty good business model -- just keep your expenses a little lower (but your prices the same or higher) and project the same image of being a high end American restaurant. Unfortunately on this visit we realized that's all that Sevy's is -- a 2nd tier dining experience posing as something more. We were seated right away since the dining room was nearly empty (compared to the 40 minute wait at Houston's). This was the best part of the evening. Once we were seated a waiter came up to take our drink order. When he walked off, another waiter approached our table to take our drink order again. I casually mentioned that another server already helped us and I pointed him out. Our waiter kinda did an "Are you fucking kidding me?" sarcastic chuckle and started drumming his fingers on the table as he jutted out his lower jaw out and turned to face the other waiter. A muttering exchange of some sort occurred that amounted to the equivalent of "You son of a bitch. How you gon' play me like dat?" "I'm sorry, man, I'm sorry, OK?" said the first waiter who brushed past our current server on his way back to the kitchen. Then our guy turned back to our table as if to garner support for his turf war and said, "Yeah you bet you're sorry," like we were going to high five him and shout, "Yeah, table-snatching little bitch, I best not see your punk ass round here, homes!" I liked the movie "Waiting" because although Ryan Reynolds is probably the 2nd hugest douche next to Dane Cook, he's actually pretty funny. What's NOT funny is when you have to experience that movie in real life. It's just awkward and pretty much ruins the dinner experience. On to the food. I had yet another experience (the other time was at the new Park Restaurant) where I had trouble ordering anything that seemed like an obvious solid choice from the menu. Everything seemed a little to left of center when I just wanted a nice piece of meat with a potato. Every high end restaurant should be able to make that happen, I think. I decided to keep it simple and order the chicken. My wife ordered the stuffed pork loin at the waiter's recommendation. When the food came, we were both very surprised to see that the stuffed pork loin was, in fact, deep fried, though there was no indication of this on the menu. In fact, I just copied this off of their website: STUFFED PORK RIB CHOP tender chop with shaved proscuitto, fontina cheese, sautéed to a golden crust, porcini mushroom sauce and a grilled roma tomato I think that if you are gonna deep fry a dish, then say so -- CLEARLY. If something is fried, then that is a huge deal breaker for us. Rather than make issue, I just let my wife have my chicken, which came with some grits that were more like a bland custard and broccoli that was very pungent in a weird way. The pork loin was greasy and sat in a bed of brown, chunky gravy that lent it a visually unappealing quality the moment it was placed on the table. I realized that the quality of the food was just... not really that great. I felt that way before when I wrote that it didn't measure up to Houston's; the quality of the ingredients seems to just be lower. But I also imagine that this restaurant falls short of the owners' and chefs' visions as well because I can't imagine they would have enjoyed the meal we had last night. I'm afraid we won't be returning -- even if Houston's is crowded. read more

Been a regular here for ten years. Love Jimmy and Sevy. They do a fine Christmas party offsite too. The staff loves the fact my erstwhile friends speak Spanish. I love the fact that Brad at the bar still remembers what I drink, and shakes it until there are ice crystals galore. Can't have a cigar here anymore, but I love the accoutrement. Hope they never put a placard at my place at the bar. But I deserve one. Did I say I love this place? It is always predictable and consistent. Whether it is lunch in the private room for 15 or dinner in that corner with the special guy, (never been arrested there yet,) I always leave happy. The staff all read each other's minds and Jimmy keeps track of everything out front. Always looking forward to my next visit.. Try anything on the menu. You will not be disappointed, ever. read more

I can eat bellpeppers like an apple so that and a few zucc and squash...rock on. House salad is a garden in your mouth with jicama...get the ving as the topper. Stick with the beef dishes here...you will be glad you did. Veggies are a little over grilled but what did I care...the potatoes were the only thing on my mind! Open on Christmas for Dinner! Regular, order-from-the-menu dinner service. Hurray! Everything we had was delicious and service was friendly. The orzo side dish is basically orzo mac and cheese. And it's WONDERFUL. The corn chowder is great, perfect for a winter night. Tasty Caesar salad. The beef skewer appetizer was easy to share. The duo creme brulee was adorable and flavorful. The steaks are goooood. It's not as fancy or as intimate as Houston's across the street (or whatever its new name is now), but it's a good option. read more

My parents took me here for a nice dinner home from school. I loved my meal! I had the special that night Grilled sea bass with smoked salmon ON TOP! and -mouthwatering I want to eat these every day - mashed potatoes. I swear these potatoes were made of crack (not that I've ever had crack). I asked artichokes were mixed in to be utterly perfect. The decor was uber nifty too. If felt Japanese meets urban contemporary. It had a really amazing back wall made of stone and had to panoramic photos of amazing stones on it. Everything else was done in warm woods, the wall sconces (lights) were reds and oranges. The tables were perfectly lit so that you can actually see the menu and what your eating with out loosing the intimate feels of the whole place. I also loved the wall vases each holding a single red rose. Nice touch. The food was perfectly cooked. I am addicted to those mashed potatoes, I swear. It was also a HUGE portion. The sea bass was the size of my hand (which isn't huge but a normal woman sized hand). I had more food on my plate than I could eat, but I did eat it all like a fatty and loved every minute. The waitstaff was friendly and helpful. Our waiter was gone when we didn't need him and magically there when we were ready to order. Our food was prompt and hot. Also I never noticed my water being refilled. I hate it when the person reaches or is other wise annoying just refilling your water. If you want an amazing meal go here. Well, for lack of better words- this was not good. The staff wasn't too friendly, it was dark inside, and the food we ordered was not good. Shrimp cocktail- for 4 tiny shrimp it was $12 and not fresh. The deviled eggs were mayonnaise and sour cream based- Yuck. The wine list was sub par. We will not be back.
