I think this place is great! The staff is extremely friendly. The place looks new inside--nice paint job, clean pedicure chairs/tubs--none of the equipment or furniture looks old, run down or dingy. And the price is extremely reasonable. I paid $50 for a pedicure and no chip manicure. I don't know what you're looking for in a place but it has everything I need. It's nothing fancy but its certainly not the worst nail salon I've ever been to. There is a private lot right in front of the store too so you don't have to pay to park. I don't understand why there are so many negative reviews but I had a great experience here. Jessica did my no chip and it stayed on for 3 weeks and it still looked great! The people here are friendly and actually made an effort to make conversation, not the half ass ones either. The place was clean and they had free parking in the plaza. This place is fairly new (5 months old to be exact)..... When I walked in I felt so welcomed! This is big for me because I have a thing about customer service and first impressions!! The young lady that did my nails was wonderful. I got the no-chip manicure in hot pink (and it was only $25.00) which is very reasonable for a no chip mani......... This place is new, clean and nice customer service..unfortunately the skills of some of the nail technicians is just average. Ive gone twice and both times received average pedicures. The first time my nails were not filed evenly and i had to fix it at home. The second time my technician did 4 layers of nailpolish and my nails just couldnt dry. Honestly they arent horrible, just nothing to write home about. Now I go to magic touch nails on broadway and bryn mawr. Theyre under new management and do a great job. read more

I made an appointment for a design, told them it was complicated they said ok. Got there and was told my idea was too complicated so I asked for a snowman and some dots to represent snow. She said it wouldn't be perfect but she could do it. She didn't say she had no idea at all how to do it. I ended up with a jagged line instead of a snowman. She wouldn't do anymore cuz by this point she admitted she had never done a design before. She put a top coat on and it was lumpy. Two women were rude as I told them I was disappointed and told me it was my fault. My nails are already damaged and I have been home fore 5 minutes. Will be calling to tell the manager. The ladies were polite, the color selection is fantastic, and the manicurist gave me the best manicure I've ever had. She was so careful and detailed! She took her time and did a beautiful job. I stumbled upon this place and have been going there for a couple of months. They all do a great job and are very friendly. They remember you and make you feel welcome when you return. Great winter prices: I've been getting the no chip for $25 (they do charge $3 to remove old no chip polish though), and they been lasting 2 weeks and a few more days! I truly enjoy the services I receive here. Uni, Tina and Hannah are great! However when I get a service like mani or pedi I want to relax and forget the day. Sadly, the management feels the need to post a sign kindly asking patrons to refrain from mobile conversations during service. I think this is AWESOME! Unfortunately the "hood rat" element that frequents this great place doesn't adhere to this policy. And don't even think of asking the Shaniquas that come here to respect the mobile phone policy. It will erupt in a near physical altercation. Again, the services and the ladies who work here are wonderful and do everything to make your experience enjoyable. However some of the patrons can and will ruin what would otherwise be a wonderful and relaxing few hours. read more

My regular place I get a pedicure at happens to be closed on Tuesdays and I needed to get one today before I leave town tomorrow. As I'm getting my pedicure, the girl asked me if I would like my toenails buffed, clear, or nothing. I simply told her I would like them buffed. She then proceeded to tell me it would be $5.00 extra. Umm, no. Since when do you charge for a nail buff? If I got clear, that's free? Needless to say, I will not be coming back. I WOULD NOTRECCOMEND Sexy nails, it is 3 blocks from my home and I was really exited to go to their grand opening a few years ago. The first year I was a regular and my daughter got her nails done their also. Something changed after the first year so I began going to Spa nails on Ridge and Grandville. Every three weeks my friend and I get a Mani/pedi done and because Spa Nails was busy we came to sexy nails. We initially were told to pick a color, as we were we were picking out color samples we were told to put the color samples back because we took out more than one. The pedicure was the worst pedicure I have ever had, it was about 15 minutes long, I told the young lady with the tattoo on her right are to scrub my feet well and she got a attitude. She began speaking in her language to her coworker then told me to check my feet. I received no massage and the scub was something I could have done at home. Her attitude was horrific. I could see if it was busy but their was no one there. I felt like these ladies need to have a much better attitude, or maybe they should work in another industry. I have been coming to Sexy Nails for about 4months now. I've had a no-chip, a regular manicure, and a full set of gel nails. Every one of the women who has worked on my nails has done a fabulous job, has been friendly and accommodating. I have had gel nails before from other salons, and within a week or 10 days they start coming unglued and falling off. Jessica did this last set for me, and it has lasted a month! I got them filled by another woman whose name I didn't learn, but she also did a great job, making them look very natural and lovely. I brought my 14yr old daughter in for a manicure for the holidays and Jasmine was so sweet to her, and made her nails look just right for her age. Oh and the prices are just right! This is now my home nail salon. I love this place! read more

I had a great experience here. The technicians were all very friendly from the beginning. They have a great selection of colors and the place is very stylish and clean. Unlike most nail places that are $40 for no chip, they only charge $30, and my nails are GREAT. I have been before and had Teressa who is great but had a different girl and OMG the worst my manicure did not last a day and my pedicure was awfulllllllllll. Uni would not stand behind her helps work which is not how I do business. As I walked in no one bothered to get up from a sitting position to greet me. A customer was walking out informing me that they were inattentive and rude. I asked the girl for specific things and was ignored. For the price I feel the nail tech should at least try to give a relaxing massage and even as I asked her, she still didn't care. I will never go back to this place again. Although it is conveniently located to my apartment (walking distance), the services they provided were not up to par. I decided to get an eyebrow wax and full set of "gel" nails. The woman who waxed my eyebrows was very aggressive and left burns on my face. The next woman, who was increasingly unfriendly, told me I was getting a full set of gel nails, but after further review, all she did was put acrylics on my nails and paint a little bit of gel on top. My nails did not look natural nor were they done well. I do not recommend this place as many more professional salons are just a short train ride away. read more

Was having another fabulous no chip manicure at this salon and about to have my eyebrows waxed when I observed a technician doing some facial waxing and double dipping a used wax applicator stick into the can of heated wax.. My jaw dropped when I saw her use the same wax stick on the next person. Ick! Asked to speak with the manager in private and informed her of what I saw. She acknowledge this shouldn't happen and then started back to her nail customer. I had to call her back and threaten to call the state board of cosmetology to report the shop unless I watched her threw the stick and contaminated wax away. She did do this but was obviously pissed off at me. Why? That small can of wax and a 500count bag of sticks do not cost retail at Sallys Beauty Supply what they charge for one eyebrow waxing. Massive profit in waxing. The wax and 500count bag of sticks are good for a couple hundred customers. They can transfer harmful bacteria like staph from one person to the next if they don't follow state guidelines of sanitation and cleanliness. I can't bring myself to ever go back here. What other shortcuts are they taking? The State of Illinois requires a license to do nails and wax to ensure teaching occurs about sanitation, etc to protect the public from harm. I KNOW these folks were taught this and are licensed to prove they know it.. Laziness? Squeezing every penny of profit at the risk of infection to clients? How do you feel about maybe a MRSA infection around your eyes or mouth from this slacker waxing practice? I'm a registered nurse and I'm thinking this would be like me using the same needle and syringe on more than one person. Those sticks are disposable one use items, just like the needle and syringe. If I stick a used needle into a bottle of flu vaccine, that bottle of flu vaccine is contaminated from the used needle. same theory with the can of wax and double dipping with the wax stick. EW!!! I get pedicures about once a month, and my regular place was all booked up so I decided to try something new. I just got back from a long vacation and needed a good foot massage along with my pedi. When I got there they said they do extra massages for $1 a minute, so I said ok I want a 20min foot massage extra. So my friend and I get our pedicures and when you get one you get a short massage with it. As she was massaging my Legs I told her I only wanted a 10min instead and she said oh I'm doing it now. I said no my feet, she said "this is the massage". I said ok well I want a 10min FOOT massage. So I look at the time and it's 7:03, she starts massaging them and I said OUCH, she said sorry it's to hard, I said no you scratched me with your fingernail. So she looks and she actually broke her glove and had to get up and go get new gloves, it's 7:04 and then she comes back at 7:06 (took an entire 2min to go change a glove? Ok whatever) she sits back down and then at 7:08 she gets up and gets the hot towel to go on my legs. Then wipes off my leg and finishes. So I was like ok guess I'm not getting the massage I wanted. Then I go to pay and she wants to charge me for it. I said oh no honey I didn't get the 10min foot massage I wanted, I'm not paying you $10 for a service I didn't get. She then yells and me and starts talking in a different language to the other girls there. Then said if I don't pay she calls the police. So I said please do beaches I'm not paying for this crap that I didn't get. She then tells ME not to talk like that it's not professional.....EXCUSE ME? I AM THE CUSTOMER, I don't need to be professional. So I then tried to pay for the pedicure and she said no you owe $37 not $27 we call police. So instead of just walking out I waited for the police. Turns out this is the 2nd time THIS WEEK they have done this and the police had to come. The police told me to give them the $27 and for them to change there policy or stop bothering them. So needless to say I will NEVER return and hope this place gets shut down for bad business and trying to rip people off!!!! read more

Was looking for a decent nail salon near my home in Uptown... On my first visit two weeks ago, Jasmine did my nails... The nail color started chipping off the day I had them done :(. I decided to try this salon again and got a good manicure from Jessica that lasted most of the week. At 1pm today, I called to make an appointment with Jessica. Jessica answered the phone and made the appointment for 1:30pm. I arrived 5-10 minutes early and told the woman in charge that I had a 1:30pm appointment with Jessica. She told me to have a seat. After waiting 10+ minutes, the woman in charge came over and told me Jessica wouldn't be available for another 15 minutes. Extremely poor customer service! If you want a decent manicure at a salon that values their customers, this is definitely NOT the place! read more

I am not sure how their nail services are but I was very disappointed with this customer service. I wanted to get my mom a no chip and a pedi gift certificate for her birthday. I checked their hours and they were open until 8 pm...I got there at 7:39pm. The lights were dim and an employee was inside on her cell phone. The doors were locked and she would not allow me in--store hours clearly printed on the door until 8pm. I spoke loudly through the glass that I just needed a gift certificate (I was not being an inconsiderate jerk and getting a full set of nails near closing time)...I was told "we take our last customer at 7:30" and "the register is closed." Perhaps, their business hours need to be adjusted... looks like we will be taking our business somewhere else. read more
