Horrible service you guys :( I have actually been here twice and really like the price and quantity of items. However, If you say you open at 11:00 open at 11:00! Not at 1:30! Especially when we called ahead and there were about 10 cars of people waiting. When we called you said you would be there at 11:30 so benefit of the doubt we waited.....even though officially your hours are 11-7. I get it your business your hours but then an hour passes....and the next....if I wasn't coming all the way from SD county I would not have waited at all. Really nice that you decided to ignore all phone calls after an hour passed as well. Also, please post that you only take cash under a 50.00 purcahse. A lot of your items are under 50.00 so I noticed even though we had cash you lost a lot of customers that were un aware of this policy. Your shop has more potential then your staff reflects. I ordered a wheelset from them online and was charged twice for the same transaction! The second charge lead to me getting an overdraft fee from my bank! I called the owner and explained that I was charged twice for the same transaction in an effort to resolve the problem. Right off the bat he was extremely rude and told me that I must have ordered two sets of wheels instead of one. But I explained that I only ordered one set and gave him the invoice number to prove it. He then continued his rudeness and claimed that his automated system is never wrong and it must be my fault! He claims that I tried to order the same set of wheels three times, so there were three orders in my name. However this makes no sense what so ever as I only received an email receipt for one of these orders and was charged for two ( the same order twice)! He even admitted that only one order was actualky processed and the other two were incomplete. So how is it that I wa charged twice? He still insisted that it was my fault! He shows absolutely no remorse for this mistake and infact actually never ended up admitting fault for this error, which cost me 25 dollars in bank fees and I was charged twice for the same order leaving me short of 120 dollars in my account that I couldn't use for about a week! Absolutely horrible experience, the product was decent but the customer service was absolutely appalling, they should be very ashamed of how they treat their customers. They must experience this problem a lot to because as soon as I called he jumped down my throat about how his automated service never makes mistakes and that it must have been my fault and was extremely rude! Basically No appreciation for customers at all. No respect for customers, and low quality products. Worst buying experience ever, one of the rudest companies I have ever came across. And I do a lot of online shopping. Avoid at all costs. Or you might end up being charges twice for the same transaction, not being able to use those funds for a week and being treated like a piece of excrement. You have been warned. read more

Today i went in to buy some pedals for my cousins fixie, and a seat + tubes for my fixie hybrid. First off, sucks you have to leave your bikes outside... Kk, back to my review.. they didn't have the colour my cousin wanted, she had to choose one that didn't match his bike too well. Got my bike seat, paid.. forgot how much the seat was and walking away i asked how much was the seat?.. she Rudely answered.. 20 dollars. Left, biked home and installed his pedals. Opened my seat and was about to install it when i saw a small tear on the under part of the seat, biked back to return it for another and THE LADY... was fucking rude as fuck, telling me i must of damaged it on my way home. She talked to her brother and he was nice and said exchange it, she kept looking at the tear and ripping it more saying it must be my fault, i tore it.. then kept saying.. be truthfully with me and kept nagging at me like it was my fault. I really wanted to like SGV bikes but it was an epic fail. They have this arrogance about them as if they are the only bike shop in the area and they treat customers like we are bugging them. I went in for the first time because I wanted to form my own opinion of this place and the gentleman in the back office was screaming and being condescending to a customer on the phone even though sgv double charged him on "accident". The lady in the front was screaming at the kids to take their bikes outside, it's just rude and in this economy I want to spend my money where it's appreciated. There's a bike shop on amar and hacienda where the man is way more knowledgable and he treats you with respect plus it's a large store with quality items. I don't ever write reviews for anything (at all) but seeing this awesome bike shop only have 2 stars makes me sad because they seriously deserve 5. Everytime I've gone in, which has been quite a few times since I've been completely rebuilding a bike that I bought on Craigslist, everyone who works there has been more than accommodating to me. They don't give me shit for hardly knowing anything about bikes, and they're always so nice and helpful. Most of their product prices are super affordable and the best you can find. Anytime I've needed parts installed, they do it on the spot for a more than reasonable labor fee-- if they have other bikes that need to be worked on, they'll still work on it same day and stay after closing to complete it. No one wants to work after their business has closed, so I give them props for not just saying they'd complete it the next morning, because that's what I would expect anywhere else. They're very kind and helpful people, be courteous and I'm sure they will treat you just fine. Anyway, bottom line is I will continue to support SGV bikes: cheap prices, nice people, convenient location, lots of product-- I'm forever sold. This place is great! It is a home business so if you do go its going to be at a home. They usually don't e-mail with many details and just want you to call instead, but they answer most of the time. If they don't then they call back if there is a number to call back. The lady is really nice and informative, the guy didn't say much but it was probably because he was getting the parts and stuff ready for me. When I went right away, I was greeted warmly and right away asked what i wanted. Once i told her what i was looking for she went in brought out a bike to measure my size. She went in and brought about three bikes in different size for me to try out. You get to choose color of the deep v's if you get the retrospec bicycles, I'm not sure about the Sole ones though. They assembled the bike in literally 30 minutes, brought it out had me ride around and i loved it! the next day i took it for a ride 11 miles and man it was fun. smooth. Go to them if your a beginner/ intermediate biker that wants a fixed or single gear. read more

Contrary to a previous reviewer, I had THE greatest service at SGV. The man was busy constructing a bicycle for another customer and from what I could tell, they seemed like they were satisfied and were returning customers. The woman help me and a friend out because we were trying to pick out a bike as a birthday present for my cousin. We took close at an hour trying to pick out the perfect bike for her because it was supposed to be a surprise. I must say, the lady was very patient with us as well as helpful. We ended up getting a dark blue retro single speed with white grips, white read wheel, and lavender front wheel. I think they're mainly known for their fixie/single speeds that you customize to what you like, and I think that's the best part about this place. At most the other bike shops we went to that day everything was a cookie cutter bike. The price was very affordable. They only accept cash, but if you have a phone that gets on the internet, you can easily set up an account with them and pay for the bike while they are assembling it for you. It only took 30 minutes for them to assemble. They sell out of their home, but with rising rent prices these days, who wouldn't? read more

I purchased a set of Cranks from SGV, and when I received them I realized the blue anodizing did not really match the rest of my components on my bike build. I sent an email asking what the return policy was and explained my situation. The response was "If the cranks have not been mounted, package them well and return for exchange " I had a piece of aluminum that was anodized the same as my components and I sent it in for them to try and match to a set of cranks and they did perfectly! It was not their fault that I ordered in error, but they stood behind their customer service and went far and beyond my expectations. I purchased another set of cranks from them and will continue to do business with them as I was treated with great respect.!!!! read more

Wow, reading some of the reviews makes me feel like some of these other people went to a different shop and/or have outlandish expectations of a bike shop in general. My experiences with SGV have always come out beyond expectations. I live in New Orleans and I order online for just about everything for custom bikes I build. if there were concerns I would simply reach out to them, as I would expect any intelligent problem solving person to do, and every time SGV has gone out of their way to make sure that have the easiest and cheapest route to obtaining the parts I need. I can't attest for any experiences in the shop itself but I would totally urge you to order from them online and if you run into any concerns ask to speak to zoe(zo-wee), shes super sweet and turbo helpful... and if you get any attitude from her, you probably deserved it and should be more polite... read more

I was having issue with PayPal so I could not get the frame immediately. No Problem as they held the frame for me. I took my 11 year old twins to SGV Bicycles for their birthday gifts. They were the only shop I could find that said they had plenty of stock, many color options for mixing and matching AND would put the bikes together while we waited. It was all true! Truly a one stop shop. They made it such a fun, ONE ON ONE, experience - helping my kids customize their bikes. We went to dinner and came back to the best birthday gifts ever! We were in and out with TWO custom bikes in under TWO hours. I live in Philadelphia and I was very excited to discover SGV! I ordered the 6KU Odessa Womens 8-Speed City Bike off of the SGV website. They have a policy that someone must be there to sign for the bike so I had it redirected to a Fedex office. Zoe from SGV was so helpful with the whole process - she ended up helping me by shipping a bike to me at my work address instead and had the first bike sent back to them in California since there was an issue with Fedex after I changed the delivery location. My advice is just make sure you order it to a location that someone will be there to sign and the whole process will be extremely smooth. Once Zoe sent me the second bike, I had it 4 days later! this company/business is complete fraud. I was on the phone with Henry for 2 hours talking about my frame size, brand and even my frame serial number. After that he recommended me some rims that he had and stated that they would fit my frame. My package takes 2 weeks to ship out and I had to constantly call them to see if they had shipped out the product. Once the product arrived it of course didn't fit my frame, and on top of that I had missing parts on the other products I bought from them. I sent them back the rims to exchange them for the other ones(took another week for them to simply send a shipping label) once they received the product they told me they were going to start making the other rims and then ship the rims to me along with the missing parts. I kept calling them every week for 3 weeks to see if my rims were ready and they kept saying that the "manufacturer" was still making them and that he hasn't sent anything. Finally this week SGV bicycles decided to block my number and none of my calls or texts go through to them. I literally have no other option but to file a claim with my bank and waste my TIME trying to fix an issue that another company created. Do not buy from this company unless if you want to spend 1 month and a half dealing with them back and forth, and eventually get fraud done to you read more

One star is as low as I can go unfortunately one star is too high of a rating. On 11/26/15 I placed an order for a bicycle online paying with PayPal. The payment was deducted from my credit account the following day. I received 2 emails from them 1 confirmed the order the other a status update of " complete " a week goes by and no bicycle. I sent 2 emails asking when I could expect the bike and no response. After leaving a message I did receive a call back telling me I had to verify my account. All of the times I've used PayPal I've never heard of this. So I call PayPal they don't even understand what the problem is. Finally I get another email from SGV bicycles stating that PayPal is holding the money and they can't process the order. After I call PayPal and ask them to please assist in straightening this out ( thank God for PayPal with businesses like these guys you really need a third party ) They send me an email canceling my order. Today is 12/9/15 so for 2 weeks they had my money and deny it then cancel the order. I've noticed that mostly all of the unsatisfactory reviews on these guys are from online orders most people who walk through the doors are very happy however I am one of the unfortunates who ordered online and it's been a horrible experience!!! They had the exact bikes I read about online. Henry took the time to answer all my questions. He had the 26" Cult in chrome still in the box & the Raw version displayed, I had to see the chrome. I just went today to get a bike, not knowing much and the guy there was super nice and helpful! I showed him the bike that I wanted and I wasn't expecting that I would be able to change out the wheel colors from the one that was seen on a site, but he did it for me no problem. He even showed me what it would look like with the wheel color that I wanted before I made my final decision. I was even given the option to change the color of my handle bars as well. The fact that I was given some room to customize my bike a little before purchasing it, definitely made my day, because I was about to purchase one from online with the wheel colors that I wasn't completely satisfied with. I went to SGV looking for an affordable bike for my girlfriend and was very pleasantly surprised. Having checked reviews beforehand I was skeptical but figured I'd give it a shot anyway. Glad I did. While I can't attest to the online experience, my in-store experience was excellent. Upon arriving, I was greeted by the friendly family which runs the shop and began looking around while they helped other customers. They take time and care with each customer, providing any information for any questions you may have. Soon after they took my order and immediately began building my order, finishing it within the hour for me to take home that day. The guy that helped me was super friendly and easy going. If you go in informed and know what quality you're getting for the price then I don't see how one could be displeased with this shop. I got a complete bike, aesthetics fully customized, brake installed for $270 flat, they paid the sales tax for me. A price you can't beat elsewhere for a new bike. They even threw in FREE white tires and a few brake line clamps for my friend. Overall, I was extremely pleased by my experience and my be visiting them again soon for a bike of my own. My girlfriend loves her bike. Not a bad thing to say. If you are weary of this store check the filtered reviews rather than the few that Yelp displays. Many, many of those are 5 star ratings. Okay...boyfriend and I were looking for good bikes...as well as decently priced...SGV Bicycles had it all...small local shop in SGV with very friendly and helpful owners...we walked in, the woman in the front, Zoe, completely educated us on the bikes we wanted and even offered to size us. We never had a shop size us to customize our bikes. Her brother, Henry, went to their 2nd warehouse and brought us the frame colors we wanted with extra wheel colors to make sure they were the colors we wanted..they assembled it, gave us advice for color schemes and the bikes look amazing...they take care of their customers and are really friendly and inviting.
