Really nice place, parking was okay but the street parking definitely gets filled up so come early. I had the deluxe pedicure and it was really relaxing. Only 4 stars since I wanted a certain cat eye but was told it's only for Dip Powder/Gel-X extension customers only? While they do have a lot of regular gel polish selections, I would have rather gotten a cat eye done on my toes. Probably wouldn't come back just for that reason alone. But if you're getting gel-x or dip powder then they have a good variety of options read more

Just moved back to the area and needed a mani/pedi/ brow wax to relax and treat myself after the move. Shade is close and easy to book online. I got the Rose combo (la vie en rose I think it was called). All the masks, lotions, etc smelled SO deliciously rosey. The massage chair was just what I needed. The technicians were friendly and efficient, and I liked the manager as well. They were busy for a rainy Sunday with a constant stream of appointments and some walk-ins. Pretty decent selection of colors as well. My brow wax was perfect. I left reinvigorated, and I can't wait to go back. read more

I treated my girlfriend to an appointment expecting quality service. She booked a regular pedicure and gel manicure. The color she liked was unavailable and scheduled to ship which was understandable, but everything went downhill from there. We tried our best to match the gel and regular color ourselves. We picked something that looked good and she proceeded to sit down in the chair. The gel manicure was messy. Nail polish was left all over her skin with a visible lump. She had never once experienced such poor service. She didn't want to disappoint me and only after did she tell me that she rushed to the bathroom to fix nails herself. Her toes were unfortunately worse. My girlfriend is fairly small with picturesque feet. She always gets compliments. Somehow, the pedicurists trimmed her nails at such awful angles, making her feet look unrecognizable. In addition, there was nail polish stains left all over her toes. After arriving home, the nail polish peeled due to layers inadequately drying. Clearly it was overpacked to the point where the workers were rushing. After two hours at the service, she simply wanted to go home. Worst of all, our scheduled vacation is in the coming week and we are utterly disappointed. I am requesting a full refund. read more

Love this nail salon! It's spacious, clean, and gives a relaxing vibe. They also offer a large variety of colors. Another thing I love about this nail salon is that there's no chemical smell from acrylics. I was able to bring my mother and my baby there without having to worry about them breathing in any fumes or dust. My mother got the Shade signature pedi with french mani, and I got the regular mani/pedi. The staff was gentle with us and everything they provided was sterile and clean. This place gets pretty busy even for a Monday. While we were getting our nails done, someone from out of town walked in with a nail emergency asking if they could fix her nail before a meeting and they were quick to assist! The person didn't have to wait long to get help and she sounded really grateful to have found a place that would get her in and out on their merry way. I highly recommend this nail salon, especially to anyone who's pregnant, has a baby, or anyone who is sensitive to fumes to come here to get their nails done. They even offer kids mani/pedi! Parking can be hit or miss because this salon is located in the haight/ashbury area, but if you're looking to get your nails done and need to get an outfit for a rave at Piedmont, then this is your spot. :) read more

Well...the first time was solid so I gave it another try because I live so close by however today I showed up 5 minutes late for a 3pm appointment. I then waited for 10 minutes which was completely fine however it went downhill from there. I had an okay pedicure but an unacceptable manicure. Photos attached. They were open to fixing it however why I won't return is because instead of simply taking accountability for a novice nail technician, I was kind of blamed for not placing my hand in the right position? In addition, my cuticles were obliterated by the tech. I am bleeding on two fingers and had to stop her from buffing more. I really wanted to like this place but for $110 no tip, I won't return. read more

I've been getting my nails done in the City for 17 years; this place is exactly what I've been waiting for. I went with the La Rose Pedicure and Express Manicure with the Paraffin wax add-on - I left feeling so relaxed and refreshed. Really good focus on the cuticles, callus, ample massage and hot stones!! Okay, I've been to shade twice. The first time was Heaven, very relaxing. They took their time with the hot stone massage (which costs extra). Today I went with a friend, paid for the pedicure which includes the hot stone massage, and the lady spent exactly 10 seconds with the hot stones. Sorry, but this seems unfair and careless. I was charged for a service I didn't really receive. I think the owner can address this with the employees and do better. While the rest of the experience was fine, I don't think it's acceptable to do this :-( I'd like to come back, but paying 70$ for a gel pedicure etc is ALOT of money. Can shade do better? read more

Linhsy in particular is so meticulous and careful with my nails, she always does an amazing job. I also notice that each of the technicians I have had are great about checking in and asking if you are happy with a particular shape or color before doing all of your nails. Went there for the first time a few days after they opened. Before that, I used to go to various nail salons, as there were very few and far between the ones that had good services. The two that are on upper Haight Street are dirty and unprofessional, so we desperately needed a good high-end nail salon. As they opened, I stopped by without an appointment for a New Year mani-pedi. Besides being spacious and clean (always sterile instruments and gloves) with a relaxing vibe, they were so welcoming, and the service was amazing. I got the Shade signature Mani-Pedi spa, and it blew my mind. The long foot and hand massage, the hot wax, the salt scrub, and the hot stones were so amazingly relaxing. Since then, I have been going back regularly, and I have tried all the spa treatments on their menu. Consistently great service. I love this place! They also offer a large variety of colors if you're into gels and stuff. When I look at the very few bad comments ... girl, grow up! read more

Have been twice now, and I think it is my new go-to place. The shop is clean and inviting. The high ceilings provide good ventilation - a detail I never thought about until a friend I was with pointed it out. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Gives good massages with mani/pedi, which is the most important part to me. I got gel on my nails, and went over two weeks without chipping. I'm a very active person, AND a picker. I've never been able to go that long without chipping/picking, so I typically just don't paint my nails. Friends nails are over 3 weeks old and still look great if you ignore the natural growth. Beautiful new salon on my street. Had to try it out. Got a gel pedi & eyebrow wax, first off the space is WONDERFUL. Modern, sleek, clean and calm. Eyebrow wax was superb, she was very detailed and communitive. Pedicure was beautiful with the largest color selection I've ever seen. The owner/manager is attentive and very kind. Only thing that would make this place better is if they served tea or juice like some other salons. Love love love. Prices are slightly higher than other salons but I think the admispher makes up for it. 5 or so more dollars to feel like you are in a spa. read more

I was excited to try this salon because of the location and was ok paying $130 for a regular pedicure and dip manicure if it was stellar, but it wasn't unfortunately. The ambiance and salon were super pleasant to be in and the services themselves were very enjoyable, but my pedicure chipped after a few days (they usually stay on me for months). I also got really bad athlete's foot after my visit there and itchy feet which I never get. For the amount of money, I expected the pedicure to last a while and the cleanliness levels to be superior. Finally found my fav nail salon in SF. I did the ROSE pedi last week and I really liked it!!!! They can do nail design and not expensive. I think I will come back next time for my nail. The only one suggestion is If they can provide some drink,like tea or water would be better. read more

However, this place overbooks, and does not seem to honor appointment times. In fact, I've had to wait over 15 minutes after my appointment time for each of my visits. I think I may be hard on my nails but it's only been a day and several of my nails are already chipped.
