The decor and ambiance is a divey bar. We were greeted upon entering. They have carry out and also have bar and table seating. They have window sitting as well. I have heard rave reviews about Shahar cafe from yelp elites so here I am.! I had the Classic Burger (vegan )on a brioche bun with a side of fries with house sauce and some crispy wings tossed in an Asian Sing sauce. My food was delicious! They have a neat drink menu and I had the LaRosita They also serve wine and draft beer and a variety of bottles and cans. They have an all day brunch menu, so you know what that means...mimosasteas, coffee, lattes, expresso, and matcha! My dining buddy had the Kicken Chicken with a side of garlic aioli fries. They reopened down here and my friend and I hadn't been since they were at their original location that closed. It wasn't busy. They have a good handful of tables but it seemed people like going in for takeout. You order at the bar then sit down. I got the double patty of the O style: pickles, cheese, onion, some kind of house sauce. It's not bad. Vegan junk food is all the rage. Definitely filling on its own. It's hefty! Impossible burger patties. My friend got the Chicky Sando and she ordered us half fries and half tots to share. She loved it! I'm glad they reopened! Thank goodness Shahar is back. There has been an unfortunate recent trend of my favorite plant-based restaurants closing, so when Shahar announced they had returned bigger and (hopefully) better I was cautiously optimistic. The hype is true. We had the great pleasure to enjoy the Chicky Sando (a generous slab of crispy vegan chicken complimented by pickles, served on a brioche bun) and the Loaded Stack (fries, slathered with house sauce, vegan cheese, and topped with vegan meat and grilled onions). I've been searching for a replacement for V-Grits' Animal Fries, and the Loaded Stack is absolutely a contender. The inside is cheerfully decorated, with both table and bar seating. Checked out the new location with a friend and a time was had! We specifically went back because my friend (who isn't even vegan) was craving their plant-based burger. The bartender was super friendly and helpful as we made a few choices. The Mango-go-go tequila cocktail was super yummy and a nice combo of rich, smooth sweetness with a hint of fruit from a fresh mango puree. We were so hungry, we forgot to let our camera eat first (iykyk), but the burger and fries really hit the spot. I love having an option for fast food that's plant-based. The mac and cheese was also yummy-gooey-goodness and their plant-based chocolate chip cookies are a dope lil' sweet snack at the end of a salty quick bite meal. The ambiance is bright, airy, and fun. Plus, they had some really good looking cafe drinks I want to go back and try. They also had a backroom for performances, and comedy was going on while we were there! It's vegan!!!! I was so excited to find an all vegan restaurant. This place is amazing! I happened to show up right when they opened without realizing what time they opened. And the person behind the bar was super friendly and accommodating. I ordered the breakfast burrito to go and they had it ready for me super quick. The burrito was delicious! I've had burgers from Shahar pop-ups before but a friend and I decided to try their Sunday brunch last week. So glad we did! They have a decent sized parking lot in back and seating up front and in the back room. You order at the bar and then take a seat. We got there around 1 pm and it was pretty packed. The single employee working the front end - taking orders, making drinks, and running food - was so nice but overwhelmed. I ordered the breaky burrito ($15), a jumbo pineapple mimosa ($6), and a side of tots ($6). My friend went with an order of Buffalo wings (everything is vegan). My burrito was stuffed with Just Egg, tots, vegan cheese, vegan sausage, guacamole, pico de gallo, and a delicious homemade hot sauce. My friend loved her very spicy but flavorful wings. We both enjoyed our mimosas. The tots were super crispy but more food than we needed. My meal was over $30 with tip, which is pretty typical for vegan food, but I didn't eat for the rest of the day. A guilty pleasure for vegans! All vegan restaurant with what I call a junk food menu- no salads here! There is a bar but you order food through a qr code and they bring it out to you. We walked in off the street. The menu did not say the food was VEGAN! I ordered chicken and waffles and scrambled eggs. I thought it was fatty gross thigh meat chicken. HAD I KNOWN IT WAS TOFU, I WOULD HAVE HAPPILY EATEN IT! Instead I thought it was weird meat. I thought the eggs tasted weird. Again, I LIKE TOFU! But instead of thinking wow this is great vegan food, I left there with my food uneaten. My daughter told me later it was vegan!!! How about labeling the menu.? Please know the entire menu is plant-based. We followed Shahar from their start in the Highlands (amazing blend of their Eastern European and American roots) to their pop ups around town and watched eagerly as they opened another storefront on Logan. The new location is spacious, clean and airy. The food is typical, heavy bar food (though Vegan) and lacks the unique, flavor-bomb of previous Shahar quality ingredients. Food service has been replaced with a QR code though the bar has a staffed bartender. Our food was delivered by a real person but dipping sauces were left off of the order and the wait staff incorrectly identified the two burger orders. Shahar is more costly than some other spots. Burger+Fries=$21+ We might come back but it will not be in our regular rotation even though it is an easy walking for us. read more
