Persian food is my favorite cuisine! I asked my Persian dentist for his favorite restaurant near Santa Monica, and he recommended this gem. It's newly renovated, and I was surprised to find no reviews on Yelp. The food was absolutely delicious! The space is bright, airy, and beautifully decorated with fresh flowers, creating an upscale atmosphere. The service is friendly, efficient and welcoming. My lunch started off with freshly baked bread and butter. The lentil soup, served with fresh lime, was both refreshing and satisfying. For the main course, I had the filet mignon. It was cooked medium-well to perfection--juicy, tender, and flavorful. It came with my favorite long-grain basmati rice infused with saffron, as well as grilled onions and tomatoes that complemented the dish perfectly. I will definitely be back--and especially when I'm in the mood for perfectly grilled meat. This place deserves to be on everyone's radar. I'll thank my dentist next time I see him.

Since it was my first time here I asked the person working at the front ( you have to order up front where they then give you a number) some questions regarding the menu. They were supper attentive and friendly. After I ordered I sat outside to people watch which was honestly really nice. Reminded me of Paris. My food came promptly thus after. The Tumeric braised chicken is amaaazzzinggg the chicken is so juicy and falls off the bone. The rice has some sort of crunchiness to it that compliments the entire flavor profile of the dish. The eggplant dip reminded me of the one my grandmother makes, dipped with the chicken made my meal feel really nostalgic. I've been back four times since and never regret it. One of those meals that just makes you feel really good after!

I'm so happy we tried this place - it's Westwood quality without having to drive all the way there. We tried their perfectly made kashkebaddmjoon, combo of chicken and beef shish kebab and chicken koobideh for my son. The food was chef's kiss. We parked in the front meter parking but there's valet available. The service was friendly - our waiter was a younger gentleman. The vibe is like a mixture of casual + fancy. I visited with my family to celebrate my birthday on a Tuesday evening, and we were seated promptly, with no wait time. Friendly people, cute little space, but it was the bursting flavors that really made this celebratory dinner unforgettable. We got the beef & lamb koobideh, chicken shish kabobs, and shrimp kabobs. My jaw was already on the floor when I saw the portions--but oh my goodness, everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The shrimp were so plump that even my picky choosy mom thoroughly enjoyed them! I actually get kabob cravings quite regularly. And to think all this time, I've been ordering underwhelming deliveries from the mid places when TehranRo Grill is just a short 10-minute drive from home? Damn. I've been missing out. I'll most certainly be returning and trying all of the different options. Can't wait.

Recently, we were curious if our old go-to, Javan, was still any good. So, my wife and I dined there. The beef and chicken koobideh entrees were both excellent- so tender and juicy. This weekend, we have some friends visiting from San Francisco. As SF is a fantastic food town in its own right, we suggested two different food options that are better in L.A. than what you'll find up there: Korean BBQ or Persian food. The wife pushed a return to Javan. Alex, the manager, recommended the All Javan Combo for our party of 5. It includes tzatziki, hummus, salad, and flatbread to start followed by beef and chicken koobideh, chicken kabob, filet, lamb, and choice of rice. We added an eggplant stew with lamb shank and an extra skewer of chicken koobideh. Finished the meal off with hot tea, a sublimely-delicious saffron ice cream (house-made by Alex himself), baklava, and little bites that were like honey churro nubs. After we finished this feast of a meal, my daughter looked up at me and said, "This was one of the best Persian meals I've ever had." I must agree. This was a meal greater than the sum of its parts- food was very, very good and the experience was elevated by the warmth of Alex and his staff. It's rare that a restaurant works this hard to make its guests feel welcome. Free street parking and a full-bar (Alex is happy to whip-up a special cocktail for you). I give Javan my highest recommendation. Please eat here if you're in the mood for Persian food. Bon Appétit!

It is better than their beef koobideh and barg, though those are still good. I have had better beef koobideh at other restaurants like Raffis or Shekarchi. Their bread is so fresh and is an elevated experience compared to the usual lavash bread that restaurants give. My friends had the salmon and they really liked it. The maast o khiar is really good too. The service is excellent - all the food came out quickly and the servers were nice. I will say I am Persian (and look very obviously so) and for some reason one lady only looked at/spoke to my husband and not me. I would say it's 4.5 stars because I was put off by this. Parking is tough right next to the restaurant but can be found metered down the street if you don't want to valet. Just until recently we have been experiencing changes in flavor and food presentation, still no excuse to serve people that have been supporting their business with tasteless and cold food. Last week I had enough and called over the manager. He did mention due to the high cost, they had to cut back and raise prices. Giving us the typical excuses to weasel their way out. Order 1 was tri stews that came out cold with small portion of rice. The stews were tasteless and meatless. Menu states chunks of beef but yet nothing in our dish. Maybe they gave us the veggie option for $28. I scream middle eastern from a mile away do you think I would go there for a veggie dish? I don't think so. Discrepancies can elevate a dish but unfortunately I don't think the new management in the kitchen has any clue on culinary arts. If you lack that part in your business at least serve a warm dish with decent size rice which is cheap to buy or add some side greens that can fill a normal size man so I don't have to stop by In N Out after. Order 2 was chicken barg that was cold as our stews, tasteless and strange color to it which manager claimed it was a new marinate and also agreed it was small. Small portion and cold but yet they charged $28 for it. No mention if their cuts are organic or not is very troubling as the chicken felt it was frozen with a chewing texture and a strange aftertaste. The icing on cake was a $5 premium charge for a small bottle of sparkling water that's normally at most at local gas stations for a $1.90. The manager had the nerve to tell us they have been cutting back including the small slice of lemon that they used to offer with a glass of water. This place is a joke and ran by people that just care for money as they have been opening new locations with our support. They have forgotten when you claim superiority over other restaurants you better deliver as presentation is key which this restaurant lacks as well. Manager claimed they focus on healthy marinates and oils and provide healthy meals which as if he was selling me on a gym membership! Maybe he should save all that talk and had refunded my money. I paid, even gave a healthy tip as the server had nothing to do with it and I would have ordered desserts but everything on it was unhealthy and store bought contradictory to his long speech. Save your money and don't go here.

Wow was this place incredible!!!!…read more I got the homemade yogurt drink, roasted eggplant dip, lamb kabob, and beef koobideh. The yogurt drink was savory, which I had never tried before but instantly fell in love with! It was nice and creamy and cold. When I asked the serve for a second one for my friend they were so friendly and accommodating. The dip. Oh. My. God. When I come back here I will just be getting every dip and eating it alongside the thin piece of bread. The roasted eggplant dip is warm, topped with yogurt, fried mint, and caramelized onion. Heaven in my mouth. The creaminess of the dip, the tang of the yogurt, the crunch of the mint, the sweetness of the onions. I could have ordered three right then and there. The lamb was delicious and juicy. It was a little bit on the salty side but I didn't mind at all, and definitely did not notice with a mouthful of steamy rice and roasted tomato. The beef was also juicy and had a hint of alluring spices in each bite. The roasted vegetables were simple, which is exactly what the meat needs. We were the only other group there beside one other. It was pretty empty for a Friday at 630 pm, so there were many tables to sit at. It's a somewhat small restaurant, but the food gives it big personality! Definitely reccomend!
