My wife and I are grateful to have this authentic gem of a restaurant in our neighborhood. Sham, the owner is such a kind man and as soon as we walk in the door, his staff makes us feel incredibly welcome. Every time we dine here, the service is attentive, the food is consistently delicious, the prices are more than fair. We always end our meal with the same reaction of "I'm glad we came here, that was delicious!" The best Indian restaurant in West LA. The food quality is top notch, it's delicious and the service is friendly. We ordered the chicken tikka masala medium spice and it was spicy in a good way. We also ordered the half chicken tandoori which was very moist and flavorful. Lastly, the prawn biryani was exceptional. They give you 4 jumbo prawns and the rice was aromatic and flavorful. I think this tops my list of Indian food so far. I ordered delivery of the non-vegetarian Thali. It's a lot of food and it's good. I was concerned because it was a little more than I'm used to spending on a Thali elsewhere, but I have to say - they make up for it with generous portions. The samosas are spicier than I can handle, but the chicken makhani and saag paneer were mild as requested, and still flavorful and rich. I prefer plain rice, but it came with vegetable biryani which was yummy. Naan was good too. I have absolutely no complaints here. Worth a try! read more

I am so happy I live within walking distance of here. Whenever we don't have an easy lunch on hand (ie we've run out of leftovers) we opt for the lunch special. My favorite is the saag and I love that you get rice AND naan amongst the other items in the box. This is an authentic Indian restaurant in Brentwood, located on the second floor, so you get somewhat of a view if you sit by the window. Their papadum was delicious, and their onion bhaji was even better. Amazingly seasoned, crunchy batter on the outside and soft on the inside. They're served with tamarind sauce. I recommend the garlic naan and chicken tikka masala: white tender pieces of chicken in a creamy tomato sauce. Only downside is you have to order a side of rice - it seems no dish comes with a side of rice anymore. The atmosphere was great, they played Indiana music to set the vibes. Delicious Masalas (we had chicken and paneer), lamb vindaloo, and chicken biryani. All of them were packed with earthy flavors that does wonders to your taste buds. First time here at Sham's India's Oven. My friend works in this medical building and recommended having dinner here. The restaurant validates parking if you park in the building. Entrance to the parking is from Barry, just north of Wilshire. It is a bit tricky to find. We shared the Onion Bhaji as an appetizer as well as Spinach Naan. We enjoyed these! We all enjoyed our food, Chicken Korma, Chicken Tikka Masala and a vegetarian dinner set! The staff tonight did not wear a uniform, so I wasn't sure who was staff or a guest ( thus the 4 stars) . I saw a few Take Out orders, which was good, because on a Tuesday evening, it wasn't busy. I always like to support local small businesses. View from the restaurant is of Wilshire. Ladies and gentleman, my I present to you the worst Indian restaurant in westside as these Yelp reviews were a totally unreliable predictor of what actually came to the table. The naan? A sad, defrosted frisbee impersonating actual bread. The paneer? Store-bought chewy chunks dunked in tepid, passata-like bong water masquerading as a meal. The fish? Over-charred chunks furiously slapped with neon turmeric like a NYPD crime scene cover-up. The vibe? Dreary views of Wilshire's burgeoning real-time crack deliveries at the 7-Eleven across the way. The half-arsed experience with their ruinous sides and chutneys was so, So, SO abysmal that we slipped out midway through this whitewashed charade of "Indian" cuisine. Eating the food was neither not meditative or compelling. It's just disappointing. The staff isn't the problem. There are real, Indian folks running lazily between the kitchen and tables. But they had zero-wattage passion for presentation or cooking skills. Just how they managed to mess up the basics of curry that any 82-year-old Punjabi Aunty could serve up on the fly was beyond the understanding our entire party. A second-class railway carriage in Old Delhi would serve better food than this place. This is the sort of failure that makes us now doubt any Indian place over the hill. #NeverAgain read more

Shams India Oven was extremely hard to find we walked around for 7 minutes trying to find. It's inside the building on the second story. The inside was gorgeous there plenty of seating and you have a small view that comes with it. The service was good and they made you feel welcomed. The lamb curry was really good. Had tons of flavor and great texture. The lamb was really good and it had a decent amount of it in there. It really well in top of the rice. And had great consistency. This is by far the best Indian food in West LA. The Daal and Saag made here are so much better than the ones at other places. I find myself having them two days in a row often.
