I've heard good things about this location and I wanted to give them a try. Decided to stop by on a weekend to try their lunch special. We were the only ones in there so the service was quick. I think my favorite has to be the Pappri Chaat . I refer to them as Indian nachos. The different chutneys on top go so well together, especially the tamarind one. I would honestly come back here just for that. The lunch platter is quite large. You really get your money's worths with this. It's also a great way to try a bunch of their different offerings. I wish more places offered something like this so you could try a little bit of everything. I felt like the butter chicken had a hint of maple syrup taste to it. It wasn't bad just not what I was use to. Inside the restaurant certainly leaves a little to be desired. You can tell that they added new seats inside but some of the ceiling tiles need to be replaced and the AC makes a terrible noise every 10 minutes. Am I in India or Avalon Park? Ok, it's absolutely nothing like being in India (I presume, as I haven't been). This took over the former Yuma Asian in the Walmart plaza and they serve Indian and Chinese. They're slinging out some good dishes like Gobi Manchurian (Cauliflower), great Paneer, and a few awesome meat platters (the chicken one was loaded and the Chicken Tikka was so good, although the ground chicken one was not). The best thing is the Naan is so cheap. I think it's $2.49 for plain and $2.99 for garlic. This is typically 5-6 bucks at other Indian establishments. It's good naan too, and so far I've only had the garlic. To that note, their Chinese menu is super expensive. I love fried rice, and would love to try theirs, but OMG $16 for the House Fried Rice is total insanity. I didn't see the portion size or quality of ingredients, but c'mon man! Most places have house fried rice topping out at $12-13. I'll be back as it's so close and they have some good options. Like any place, they do some dishes well and some different than you might expect. But the service is good and it's usually not too busy inside for dining in. They could do some work to soften it up a bit so it's not like dining in a lab cafeteria, but the food is worth the stop. read more

Shahi Cuisine- Indian & Chinese opened in the spot where Yumi Asian was. It's next to the new Italian place, Tratto. It's a small place but I think I counted 8 tables. Appetizer: chicken Tikka Entrees: Butter chicken served with basmati rice. House special fried rice. Butter Naan. The service is welcoming and attentive. Advised us popular dishes & recommended some others, like the goat dishes and the lamb Tikka. The chicken Tikka comes out sizzling with beautiful charred chicken with onions and peppers. The butter chicken is very good. It's flavorful, creamy & mildly spicy. The basmati rice is perfectly cooked. The house fried rice is tasty. Doesn't lean heavily on soy sauce. The flavor is just right. The only complain was the butter naan, it had no flavor. It was just fried dough, barely any butter. Everything else was really good. The service is on point. The small space is properly divided. We were happy to see that people were coming in to dine in and also pick up. I hope this place is around for a long time. read more

Been to this place for lunch. It was not clean and the food was terrible. The buffet trays were more than half empty and we had to request them to have adequate amounts in the trays. The food was cold and had no taste. The lady that was waiting on us (only one server with no help) was very nice but was helpless. read more

Was looking for something different with my daughter. We found this place clean and the server helpful and polite, making many suggestions and spice level recommendations. My daughter had the Butter chicken which was served with rice on the side and the topping separate rice was fresh and tasty. I had chicken biryani, which is prepared with the rice, vegetable, spices, and chicken altogether a nice change from what I normally have the just hot all the way down to the last bite in the bowl. I was a loyal fan of the Yumi restaurant that was in this location before Shahi, and was admittedly skeptical when I heard about the new Chinese-Indian place, but it's hard to find good Indian in the area, so gave it a try. SO GLAD that I did. Channa masala has become my go-to, but I'm also obsessed with dipping my garlic naan in my husband's saucy Butter Chicken dish. The price is reasonable, and the flavor is SO GOOD. We've ordered quite a few times and every time we are still surprised at how delicious and flavorful the food is. I hope the word spreads so we can keep this place around. read more

We went for lunch, and were impressed by this restaurant. Lunch prices seemed high, but the portions were so large that we each made 2 meals out of it. This justified the $14.99 per meal price. The interesting thing was you order your main course and then choose four additional items. We had to wait for our food, but that was probably because it was made fresh. It would have been nice if the menu described each item, but the waiter was very helpful in this matter. read more

This place just opened by our house and me and the wife + kids who love Indian food decided to try it. We were hopeful it would be good but it turned out to be great! It was a soft opening and though they didn't offer everything on the menu tonight the 3 different Indian meals we had wee fantastic. This might become an issue knowing they are so close to home as we're attempting to cook more at home lol. I was so excited when I found a new Indian restaurant that had such a high rating. I was sad with the closing of Tamarind on E. Colonial. I ordered the Paneer butter masala. It was the worst Indian meal I have ever had and I am from India. There were barely any spices and the gravy tasted basically like pure tomato sauce. There was so much acidity. The naan and rice were fine but the actual meal was gross. There are so many better Indian restaurants in Orlando. Never ever going back. read more

Their food is fantastic! I've had the lamb in every sauce by now, and while vindaloo is my personal favorite, they are all excellent! For those who are very sensitive to spice- be aware that they marinate all their meat overnight, so even mild has some tang to it. But the good news is, their Chinese menu ain't bad either! My husband and I finally went to try this place out during lunch. The food was amazing and we tried one Indian and one Chinese option. I highly recommend the lunch platter. We got it with the Mango drink that was incredible. Be prepared to wait a bit as it may be understaffed for a lunch crowd. However that will not keep us from returning back with friends and family. The Garlic nan was amazing. I like having tamarind sauce or dipping sauces with mine and not sure if they have that on hand per the waiter. Look forward to going back! read more
