    Iced Americano
    Johnny N.

A hidden gem, almost speakeasy-esque! This little cart is located within the Nobel Executive Center, a non-descript office park near Nobel Drive and the 5 Freeway. It's near the back of the complex, and has a good amount of outdoor seating. I had the iced Americano and sweetened it. The espresso was made really well, which made this a great morning pick-me-up. The menu also has a number of non-coffee items as well, with pastries on display. The service was spectacular, with the staff making sure that we were happy with our drinks! Definitely try this place out, and don't let the location scare you

The definition of a hidden gem. This cute coffee shop is located behind a business building but it is worth the find! My mom and I stopped during our long drive home after seeing the reviews. It was really convenient for us because it is located right off of the freeway. The owner was kind and patient with us while we looked over the menu and even helped us find the drinks we were looking for. We ordered a strawberry smoothie and a cinnamon coconut latte. They were both really delicious and I was happy that the smoothie had some plant based protein in it as well. Overall an enjoyable experience and would recommend!

    Worth the detour!

Worth your detour! Great coffee! Very friendly barista & very knowledgeable when it comes to coffee! He's not making drinks to make drinks!

We almost didn't find this amazing breakfast stop! It's actually behind the office building at the SW side and there's plenty of seating with trees for shade. Yummy smoothies! Friendly service. Very reasonable prices! Worth the scavenger hunt to find it today

A truly hidden gem! Has great vibes and she is simply so sweet and pleasant! I will be visiting here a few times before leaving the area! The coffee was legit better than any of those big corps. Bold taste, smooth and hits the heart so good Thank you!!

This place is a hidden gem! I was staying at the nearby Hyatt and stopped here for a quick breakfast. I had an açaí bowl and carmel macchiato. Both were delicious! I highly recommend if you're in the area.

Such a hidden gem, Steven was the absolute sweetest! We were coming back from a conference and he made us lattes even though the shop was closed. The perfect afternoon pick me up

Açaí smoothie is so delicious !!

This hidden place is the best option for a quiet coffee or lunch in UTC. In the middle of many big grocery stores and chain restaurants in the area is a gem to find a place that you can sit outside and drink your coffee while speaking with the owner (Michelle - a sweet heart). Shaka Java has different types of coffee, açaí bowls, smoothies, sandwiches, salads, muffins.. it's actually hard to decide what you wanna eat. The tables are all outside and the free WiFi makes it a nice work place!

A place with good coffee, service, and scenery. Try the bowls or shakes. You cannot go wrong with them.

The staff is friendly, anything you buy looks gorgeous and the inside is immaculate. Ambience 9/10 Lunar New Year Croissant Described as a croissant filled with sesame and almond paste, this is a good but not great croissant. It has the layers, it has the chew, but it's no better than a croissant you would get at a number of other bakeries in the area. But those other bakeries are charging $4-7 instead of $10! The almond and sesame flavors were both very subtle and make me believe there is just a very minimal amount used in the recipe. Would not recommend even as a chewy over crispy croissant guy. 5/10 Creme brûlée latte Pretty much what I wanted without description. Creamy, noticeable but not overpowering vanilla flavor, and a lovely burnt topping for bitter balance. The coffee still comes through meaning this is a well crafted latte, not a dessert. This one actually comes at a pretty decent price too. 8/10 Yuzu & lime tart Their take on meringue pie is composed of a graham crust, yuzu mousse, and a meringue topper with a circle of lemon curd gel. To my taste, there is too much sweet on this plate, needing some balance of tart. But the textures of each component were on point: fluffy meringue, thick lemon gel, dense crust, and substantial yet airy mousse. Torching the meringue at home added a bitter element which I think made the sweetness more palatable. Would have liked the citrus to be more present. 5/10. All in all I would choose other sweets shops at most shopping centers than return here but for drinks this is a pretty good option.

Outstanding customer service from genuinely kind, caring, & invested individuals makes such a HUGE impact! The burrito & coffee were both absolutely delicious! I get automation as it's something I do, I've done and will do as times change. However, I had questions and ended up just ordering something else as there was no human interaction to answer me. Place is deceivingly small - there are a bunch of seating - I wouldn't go in with a large group but definitely places to sit, chat or work on your laptop (saw several students? hammering away on their laptop keyboard). Not sure, but maybe they also offer WIFI.? Drinks seems watered down in my opinion. And I've ordered the same drinks at other locations and either the ingredients were off or it was prepared differently that didn't quite align to my expectations and taste. However, place was busy so maybe it's just how it's served as business was steady and I saw a few order the same as what I got. He suggested getting 100% but said that I could try 75% and then see if I liked it. It was SO SAFFRONY and full of spice, with a bitter aftertaste, I really wish I liked it. It was so unique because the drink doesn't rely on sugar to give it taste, unlike so many drink places in SD. The flavor wasn't up my alley, so he replaced my drink with an iced Signature Karak Chai (which he'd given me a sample before). :) And before he left his shift, he even asked me if I wanted any adjustments to my chai!
