Ambiance is fine. Was outside seating and there was shade. The tables have little red ticks so be careful with those. I paid $8 not including tax for the smallest HAMBURGER, not cheeseburger.. the fries were good in my opinion because they are real potatoes not frozen and i like "soggy" fries. If you dont like them then you will be disappointed however the service was decent. Nobody brings you food, you order it at the window pick it up at separate window. When i was picking up my food the gentleman who asked if i wanted any condiments seemed a little grumpy but today was a hot day and i dont know if he was struggling or just kind of a grump. Their website is outdated, prices have gone up so keep that in mind. Other than that I would've rather gone to the allsups across the street for a burrito.. i could've gotten two for the price of that one sad hamburger. I don't remember the food being so bad. We have eaten here before, about 3 years ago, but came to have lunch here yesterday again. The menu says they have grilled cheese but no grilled cheese yesterday. They had cheese, because they were still making cheeseburgers... not sure why they ran out of grilled cheese. We ordered a couple of cheese burgers and fries. Everything was soooooo greasy. The Chile cheese burger tasted nothing like Chile. The fries were just soggy potatoes dripping grease. Last time I had the fried oyster sandwich, which I seemed to remember it was ok but I am so glad I didn't get it this time because I can't think of what a dripping grease oyster would taste like. I just can't understand why you would get a meal here when Lotaburger exists- shake foundation does literally nothing that exceeds Lotaburger standards, but does it at a multiple of the price. This wouldn't be worthy of a one star IF they had ambiance or politeness. But it's topped off with rude, disrespectful employees who clearly don't care about the customer. This place is cool, but the name should be "Malt Foundation". I was told about this place from a coworker and decided to give it a try. The outdoor seating is great and the vintage 50s walk-up theme is great. I loved the music selection! They played all the classics. The service was also very friendly. I ordered the ginger lemonade, a chocolate "shake", small order of fries, and a double Foundation burger (cheese and green chile). The lemonade was really good. Like really good. The fries weren't bad either. The burger needed seasoning. I tasted no salt or pepper in that meat, which is upsetting. Just because you add green chile to a burger doesn't mean that the meat doesn't need to be seasoned. It needs seasoning, folks. If it weren't for that infraction, this burger would have been the bomb dot com. As for my "shake"... That was not a shake. It was a malt. I hate malts. It was also practically frozen when I received it, which was no bueno. Although I received it with my food, I couldn't start drinking it until after the meal was finished. When my family member said let's check out this place I was skeptical because, I am gluten-free and a vegetarian. I was so happy to see that they had a beyond meat burger and that instead of a bun I could get my patty wrapped in lettuce. The noise inside, where the employees all were, was so loud that the cashier just kept saying "what??" The $8 shake was very small too. We received our burgers only to notice a black hair in the bag with one of the burgers. Ok, these things happen- so I went up to the window to have it remade. I tell the girl and her first response was "were really busy". I'm like "but there's a hair in it..." so she take the burger and hands it to the guy, who I watch simply try to rebag the burger. I then ask them again to remake it and they finally agree. She then tells me to that they'll bring it out to me. While I'm sitting with my husband the girl proceeds to yell ma'am at me and I realize that she has my burger at the window. I go up to make it and she makes some snide remark about how there wasn't a hair (even though I showed her and the cook acknowledged the hair in it) but ok here's my burger. This place is pretty damn good. I had been craving a coffee ice cream and knew this spot had it. We couldn't resist and ordered a double foundation green chile cheeseburger and a single fry to share. The burger was great, meat had a super good flavor, it was a bit greasy, good bun and Chile was not hot at all. Fry's were crispy and delicious. Served with a side of mayo and ketchup. We will each get our own double burger & fry next time! The ice cream is very creamy and yummy and the 1 scoop was very generous. Lots of flavors to choose from. Next time I want to try the peach and coconut! My only complaint is the staff. The girl at the counter is unfriendly, and was sitting on the floor on her phone when we walked up and it was obvious that she thinks that was more important than us, the customers. The guy serving up the food lacked basic communication skills, which is needed when asking for a cup for water (they were out) and straws. It was not my choice to come here because I am overall not a fan but my friend likes it here so I obliged. The parking lot was full on both sides and although there were more people there than I had ever seen before, it still seems like too many cars for the amount of people. I saw one employee very angrily address a couple who parked in the lot but was about to walk somewhere else. I get it, they need the spots for actual customers but she was incredibly rude and loud. The woman who took my order seemed like she did not enjoy working there. Definitely no customer service skills. I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich ($6.50) and a Shake Caesar "salad" ($3.95). The salad was the only healthy option on the menu, except for possibly the portobello mushroom burger, but I hate mushrooms. I asked if I could add chicken to the salad but was told that was not an option. When my buzzer went off I was handed someone else's order along with my salad but assumed that fries had come with the chicken sandwich. The staff didn't realize their error until after I had added catchup to the plate. I did not see what happened to that plate once I handed it back to them and received the sandwich I actually ordered. Now for the salad. It was a bundle of Romain lettuce in a plastic cup with about an inch of Caesar salad dressing on the bottom. That's it. It was very difficult to eat. I had to take each leaf of lettuce out of the cup and dip it into the dressing. If I wanted something so simple I could have gone to the grocery store and spent under a dollar. This was probably my sixth or seventh time here. The fries are hit or miss and so is the amount of chicken on the chicken sandwich. The burgers are super bland. This is a decent place to get a burger. The fries are okay. The ice cream is, well, you can't go wrong with ice cream. Sandwiches are small so you will probably get two. Not cheap either. My biggest gripe is they're not seasoning the burgers at all. Just a little bit of salt will go a long way. That's why some reviews may say they're bland, which I agree with. I've been here a couple times. Customer service is really bad. I've heard them on the phone refusing to take someone's order because "they were busy" and asked them to physically come to the restaurant to take their order (!?! Why?!?) The burgers are okay, on the small side. They, for some reason, will not put ketchup and mustard on the burger which I don't understand... Also, they don't do refills on soda which kind of irks me. I mean I'd understand if they'd charge a small fee for a refill, but they won't even do that -- you have to buy a whole new $2-3 soda. Makes no sense since they have a soda fountain. Incredibly rude customer service. We parked in the very large empty lot and we're going to the establishment next store to grab and drink and then planned on having lunch here. We were followed by an employee sweeping snow off the tables and she told us we had to leave the parking lot. We offered to purchase our items before we went to the store next door and she literally said we had to order a full meal per person to park in their parking lot. It was a semi small sized burger. You could see the melty cheese, the green chiles, and the juicy grilled meat. All of this was placed between a soft potato style bun. I took a bite and was semi impressed. The cheese was nice and melty, the green chiles were hot, and the beef was decent. The beef reminded me of Smashburger (I'm not a big fan of Smashburger). It was a bit oily? A tad too greasy and not "beefy" enough. This burger was also piping hot. Almost too hot to eat! It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't amazing. This review is for the milkshakes only - however even though we didn't order any of the other fare, it sure looked tempting as folks brought it out to the communal picnic tables for consumption. I wish I would have poached a french fry or two, but that might be deemed socially unacceptable by folks who might not know that I am essentially harmless despite appearances. After reading a lot of the reviews for this place and actually going to it I have to say there are some whiny people out there that have irrational and, for lack of a better word, stupid expectations for food establishments. Some of the bad reviews complained about "my fries being to thin and crunchy" when they're shoestring style or "my salad was horrible" when it's a burger place. These people sound like they would complain about their free trance vegan tofu bean burger tasting horrible at Texas Steakhouse or any steakhouse, for that matter. Who orders a free range vegan tofu bean burger at a steakhouse: people that need to complain for no reason. So for my actual review. This place is a really burger place! The burgers are juicy and the shoestring fries are very crunchy! I got the double lamb burger and would recommend it if you want to try something different than a beef or bison burger. They also have an impossible burger option for people that want a non meat option. The shakes are very thick and amazing! I got the pistachio shake and it was really good and had about 20 or 30 real pistachio in it. The seating area is outside and the place is designed more for quick pickup as to go. You also can order for pick up. The seating area is nice but not well shaded. That's probably the only bad thing about this place. The parking situation also isn't that great but most restaurants in Santa Fe don't have parking or you have to pay for parking. This place has their own parking lot which doesn't seem to be too filled since a lot of people either order to go or pick up. Overall I would recommend this place if you want to grab a quick burger and hang with some friends in their seating area. The place has music playing and has a relaxed outdoor feeling to it. I was going to give it two stars, but I have been dwelling on the below issues for DAYS, so I think that warrants another drop in star rating. Three star food. I got a junior foundation and the weirdest feeling was that it was "missing" something. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, and realized that maybe it was because they put the patty on top of the extras (lettuce, tomatoes, etc) which means the meatiness doesn't spend as much time on your taste buds. So I flipped the burger over and it helped...but it was still missing something. As I'm writing this, I think it was missing fat (grease, etc), so flavor/umami was not coming through. Great fries though. Like a slightly fancier gold standard that is the McDonald's fry (which is a huge compliment). The one star is this: (And I'm sure because Santa Fe is it's own special location, so various restaurants get this a lot, but this was egregious) They close at 7p. We arrived at around 6:25p. I also got a phone call as I was stepping up to the window so when they asked us what I wanted, I excused myself (because I didn't want to be one of those people on the phone at the register) and the cashier told the picky eater that their kitchen was going to close soon and we needed to order now. And we can't order shakes. As I was trying to take my call, picky eater bugs me to tell me I need to hang up and order now. And in my mind I thought maybe they think I'm going to be on the phone for a long time and she wanted to close the kitchen 15 min before closing time, but I had plenty of time before that moment. No. No. They are closing now. Order now. ?!?!?! Fine. I apologized with my call, hung up to order my burger, and waited. While we were waiting they turned away three other people within a span of no more than five min! The first time I thought I heard wrong. We JUST ordered...how are you closed now if it's not even close to 7p? That potential costumer was upset and left. Another gentleman came by and no one was at the register so we told him "I think they're closed." And he was a little thrown off too: "they're supposed to close at 7." We shrugged and told him about the previous interaction. He shook his head and left. The third one came, lady with rollers in her hair. The cashier came back and told her they were closed. And she was like, I just want ice cream. Can't I just get ice cream? No. No she could not. Clearly this lady left her house in a hurry wanting ice cream, can you really not just scoop her some? Listen I've worked in costumer service too, and I get wanting to close and go home, but also, show some compassion. She clearly looked like she was going through something and rushed to get here before your posted closing time. Why can you not just quickly ring up and scoop her a ball of ice cream? So I thought, okay maybe they changed their hours and they weren't properly reflected on Yelp yet, which happens, and I would never blame a restaurant for that. On the way home though, I checked the website and it clearly showed 7p for closing. I get closing early on a slow night. But turning away these customers clearly means it was not a slow night. The burger was barely worth it. The lying to costumers and mistreatment is clearly not. A cute outdoor walk up an order burger place with interesting hipster branding. It's only outdoor seating with no umbrellas but there are some trees for shade. Just as a note none of the workers including cooks were wearing masks or gloves. I ordered the homemade ginger lemonade regular size, fries regular, and the double green chili cheeseburger. The lemonade was tasty but there wasn't much ginger flavor if any. The regular size seems very small in comparison to A regular cup at other burger joints. Especially for almost 4 dollars. The fries were great. Absolutely no complaints about the fries thin crunchy fresh a nice sprinkling of flaky salt- I know they're super fresh because I saw two people in the back hand peeling buckets of potatoes getting taken away right away for fresh orders. And the burger honestly was just OK. It had green chilies but It didn't really have any spice and to be honest it was extremely wet and soggy. Soggy to the point that a person with a more picky or discerning pallet may not have been able to eat it. I mean it made the bread completely soaked and parts were no longer bread but a PASTE. The liquid is most likely from the green chili sauce scenario that was added to the burger. It turned the bread to paste, it was weird. In short I won't be trying their burgers again and I most likely won't be back anytime soon. The green chili burger had good flavor but it was slightly over cooked. I did have the double foundation. Fries are shoestring cut- $3.25 for a small- also over cooked and very over priced. But the milk shake- the 3rd star is all about the milk shake- delicious- I ordered a chocolate and coconut- flakes of coconut all the way through- worth the downfall of the rest of the meal. read more
