Experience: With a party of two before closing, we were able to order and receive our food fairly quickly. Parking: Being that this Shake Shack is technically part of the Oakbrook Mall, there is plenty of parking. So no worries about that. However, I am unsure how it is during the weekend. Like everything else, it may be difficult but not impossible. Worth: I gave this specific Shake Shack 5 stars mostly because of their staff. Even though we came 15 minutes before closing, they were still professional and friendly. On top of that, we even dined in. Of course we finished our food fairly quickly, they did not rush us at all. Stopped by this location for the first time. We have had meals at Shake Shack elsewhere and looked forward to our meal. The chicken sandwich was good as expected. Never had Shake Shack before and was looking forward to it since many people proclaim it to be the best. It's not. It was Steak and Shake patties, burned and too salty. Shake Shack is one of the few restaurants that has outdoor seating I have been here a few times. The first time I came here I had ordered the Shack burger (single patty) don't waste your time. This is a tough review for me.. We've been to Shake Shack a handful of times. They take gluten allergies seriously and we appreciate that so much. Their gluten free buns are the unicorn of buns, so soft. If you have celiac or gluten issues, you know good buns are so hard to find. And their cheese fries are amazing. Here's where my lost star comes in.. I decided to cut some carbs today and order my burger lettuce wrapped. Our order took so long, that the people who had ordered before us received their order, ate, and had left before we got ours. My lettuce was wilted and soggy, probably from sitting so long, and the burger was missing the bacon. I tried to pick it up to eat it, but it completely fell apart. Even the paper bag it came in shredded from being so soggy. I ended up just taking off the lettuce and eating it with a fork and knife. Visited this location a few times since my last review. Consistently better than the visit I reviewed! I highly, highly recommend using the phone app to order during busy hours! The app is super simple to use - Prices and options are all listed very visibly and everything is sorted into easy categories (Burgers, Chicken, Sides, Drinks). You choose a pickup time, and they will text you and the app will also notify you when your order is ready. All of my orders through the app so far have been ready before the selected times by a few minutes, never late! Then I just, as the app says, skip the line and just pick up my food. In my previous review, my complaint was good being warm at best, but every visit after has had the burgers and fries fresh and hot! So definitely a bump up in rating! Here is couple reasons to explain why: 1: we walked in around 11:05am, cashier didn't even say hi. 2: The hand sanitizer was empty, the store was opened for just 5mins. 3: We waited for another 10mins for the online order which doesn't have any tissues in the package. 4: The patio was a MESS. Y'know what really gives me a case of the red ass? Longing to go to a legendary joint and discovering the place has a level of suck I had not anticipated. Like the Memphis mistake "Charlie Vergo's Rendezvous". Couldn't WAIT to get there, and when I did (even finding a great parking space on the street), I was presented with a bone-dry flavorless slab of cardboard-style ribs. Ug. Now this joint here "Shake Shack" has all the NYC swagger, and fables of 2 hour queues to get an ambrosial burger, killer fries, and the milkshake of the gods. There are a few outposts here in Chicagoland, and the closest to me was still a haul from our homebase, Stately Breakwind Manor. Lady Wife had bizness in Oakbrook, and when the question of "Where we gonna eat?" came up, I suggested "Shake Shack" and she said she could go for a fine burger. FINALLY, we'd get to try the fabled "Shake Shack"-the epitome of New York Burgers! It was mid-afternoon, and the place was all but deserted. OK by us. Social distancing, don't you know. We gave our order to the droid at the counter, who had a hard time taking it, it appeared. Although he was apparently humanesque, there was something eerily robotic about him. We found a seat. Oh yeah, the bill was over $30 for 2 burgers, 2 fries, a diet coke, and an iced tea. And an order of bacon for $1.79. We sat and sat, with no sign of food. Remember, the place was near totally empty. Finally, I got up and went to the counter in search of our food. There was a large "to-go" bag with my name on it. I had seen it from afar, but could not see my name. It was sitting there for a while. I took the bag back to our table. The burgers were smaller than I thought they'd be. Wife opened hers to find it was half-raw. I had asked for a slice of raw onion on mine, and there were 2 empty rings of onion that looked like fender skirts on the burger, meaning I'd get a taste of onion on the perimiter only, and nowhere else. The cheese was only half-melted. There was no sign of the "Shake Sauce" promised on the menu. There was also no sign of the $1.79 bacon Wife ordered; prompting a visit back to the counter. I asked for the "Shake Sauce" and the Bacon. They gave me a pre-filled tiny cup of about a teaspoon of the "Shake Sauce", and a similar cup of cold bacon crumbles, the waitron got out of a container in front of the kitchen pass. Nowhere near the "Nueske Bacon" the wall menu bragged of. The $3.75 order of every-day crinkle cut fries were ok, but just. Wife was put off her feed, and did not finish her burger. Mine was ok, but not the knockout I had anticipated. The Diet Coke and Iced tea were the highlight of the meal. We didn't complain, 'cos...why? So they could give us coupons for another shitty meal? We knew mid-meal we weren't coming back to this place for any reason. My Mrs. is from New York, and I thought going to a NY based chain would be cool. It wasn't. On the way home, we stopped at a Local called "Scoobys" (q.v.) so Wife could get something to eat, seeing as how her burger went into the trash at the Shake Shake. The Scooby's Burger was great. Go figure. And as far as the phony "response" from Shake Shack below- EXACTLY the same wording as a number of other ones from similarly dissatisfied customers below. I completed a customer survey while I was there, and they sent me a $30 gift certificate which immediately went sailing into the "circular file". I can see if this was a Mom and Pop just getting on their feet and making rookie mistakes--I'd give them another chance. This is big NYC money in action. They should know how to run a restaurant. I was really excited to hear Shake Shack was opening a location in the western suburbs. I still am excited that I do not have to go all the way to downtown to get a Shake Shack burger. Came here for early dinner on a Friday and there was no wait. The girl took my order and I was a little surprised to see my order of two burgers, one drink and one fries was almost $30. The wait for the food was not long. I ordered the smoke shack. The burger had good burger to bun ratio topped off with the right amount of sauce and peppers. One thing I really like about the burgers is that the buns at not completely sliced through. It's almost like a little pocket holding your burger in place. Stopped in here for a late lunch. First time having their burger and it was pretty good. I had the shake shack double cheeseburger. The meat quality seemed very good, and the cheese on the burger was amazing. It actually tasted like cheese and it was melted to perfection. Many times you get a cheeseburger and can't even tell you had cheese on it, and this was not the case. The staff was extremely friendly the entire time there. We asked for some of the shake shack sauce which is not only great for the burger but also to dip the fries. Speaking of the fries, they were nice and crispy and salted well. Crinkle cut. The pricing here is high. You will definitely spend more here than other places for a burger and fries. I actually just wished the burger itself was a bit bigger for the price. To start off, the line inside is set up wrong. People are tripping over people just to get up an order. Then you have to wait till the person in front of you orders and walks back past you to go up and order. On to the food. What you see in the picture, a double cheeseburger with bacon, cheese fries and a large drink was almost $20. The burger was good, but wasy greasy. The fries were good, but not $3.50 good. I tries to order 2 different shakes but was told were out of that right now. The place was clean and easy to find. The dining room and the line as mentioned before can not accommodate the amout of people that want to come here. Be prepared to wait, both in line and for your food. Took almost 10 min to get my order. If there is more than one in your party have to others claim a table.
