The shroom burger is mediocre at best but you shouldn't be ordering something vegetarian here anyway I've yet to try their chicken sandwich--it's served on a GMO free potato bun and the chicken is antibiotic, cage free and growth hormone free I love how they partner with local small businesses to feature some of their items on the shake shack menu!! This is not a complaint about the food, but about the service and attitude that occurred during my visit on Sunday afternoon March 6. After finishing shopping at TJ's across the street I decided to have lunch at Shake Shack. There was no line at all and the cashier was very nice as I ordered a burger and chocolate concrete to go. I was told to wait outside and my name would be called to come to the outside window. With no visible activity, I was surprised that 10-15 minutes went by without my order being ready. As it was an inordinately warm day, though windy, I was not uncomfortable waiting outside. Until all Hell broke loose. A gust of wind blew over their very heavy metal sidewalk sandwich board. It landed on my right foot and the pain was severe. I approached the window to report the issue and expected an apology, a "what can we do?" a "Do you need some ice.?" Instead I was offered a free hamburger which I refused as I was still waiting for my order - about 20 minutes from placing it by now. I was then told it was not their fault that a gust of wind blew over THEIR sign onto my foot. I asked for the manager, who arrived to tell me I should show more respect (I had retrieved part of their sign that had blown down the sidewalk and tossed it into their area so it would not get lost). At that point I was still in pain and limping. She offered to reverse the charge on my order, but at that point I only wanted my lunch - which magically was now finally ready. I asked for her name and number (Tanya), and gave her mine. When I got home - over an hour's drive away, my wife helped me take off my ankle sock and sneaker. My ankle was cut and bleeding and the right side of my foot had swelled and turning black and blue. We applied ice. I sent Tanya a photo and told her that I would need an x-ray if there was no improvement by Monday (today). My wife said that I would never hear from Tanya or anyone from Shake Shack. She was right!!! Luckily the scar is healing, the swelling has subsided, and most of my limp has gone away. I have owned a few food establishments in the past and would always be sure that any incidents that were our fault or not ( over 20+ years there were plenty) would be properly handled, and the customer taken seriously. In this case, Shake Shack failed to properly train their store manager on proper customer care. I have visited many Shake Shacks in the past - even one in Istanbul - and used to buy my 100 year old mother-in-law chocolate shakes at the Chestnut Hill location. I was in the area for a meetup and decided I wanted some food. Also it was a follow up visit relating to my visit to the Shake Shack on Newbury St. a couple weeks ago. Having gone to the one in Chestnut Hill, I know that this is going to be a more expensive than average affair, but they have good food too. That being said, I ordered the same thing I usually do, which was Bacon Cheese Fries and a Chick'n Shack burger. It came out to around $12, which is a little high, considering the portions they give. (Imagine a softball and 3 packs of cigarettes and that's what you have.) The fries were crinkly and crisp and the bacon was a little dry but it tasted like bacon, so that's good. They put on a little more cheese than I wanted, and I had a glob of it left in my container afterwards. The sandwich was still crispy and tasted the same, but the chicken was noticeably saltier than the Newbury St. location. I didn't get sick after the meal, so that's a good thing. Food *Shack Burger - I think every time I duke it out with people about In-N-Out, Five Guys, just stop... This burger is like a party in your mouth and everyone's invited. The burger literally melts in your mouth and explosions of flavor bursting nonstop. Not too cheesy, but you definitely notice it, and not messy either. Smoke Shack - So maybe it was me, but I wasn't a fan. I like to try new/different things at a place, and the description of this burger sounded great! It's weird, it states this burger and the Shack Burger had ShackSauce. While the Shack Burger had all the ingredients balanced and in perfect harmony, I didn't think that was the case here. It might be the combination of the ShackSauce coupled with this Niman ranch bacon, but I found this burger to be too zesty flavored, ultimately taking away from the amazingly cooked burger. Huge shout out to all the hard working people here. What a team. Super hot day in Boston when we went for lunch and it was mobbed. We were able to get a table because the staff was constantly clearing and wiping down everything. The kitchen must have been hotter than outside but our food came out faster than we than expected, hot and was just as ordered. The girl that delivered the food was smiling the whole time, in spite of the lunch rush, and offered me a box to take one of the burgers to go when we were leaving. I wait, looking at the top of their heads for 5 minutes. And heaven help me if anything out of the ordinary happens. Condiments low? I'm screwed. I Had an order take 25 minutes and noticed people ordered after us were getting their orders first. I finally asked for a refund. The gentleman who ran the front of the house I think his name was Rob, saved the day. Came over to us, apologized, gave us coupons and proceeded to talk to us, insisting that we left on good terms. We went to go here to eat and it should have been open at 11am.... You can see through the whole store and there were a bunch of workers sitting at tables but kept the doors locked. We waited till about 11:15 and one person came to let 2 people in and then looked at us and said they wasn't open and then proceeded to shut the door after only letting them in. Exceptional service and food. I came in right when they were closing but was welcomed and encouraged to stay and order. "Big Ed" and crew were outstanding. They stayed open late and made sure I had something to eat. The crew was very friendly and delivered outstanding food. Everyone went above and beyond to make sure I was happy and had enough to eat. Shake shack was good enough to hook me up with a $10 coupon after my burned burger experience last week. Today I followed up with a ShackStack which is their standard shack burger topped with an awesomely crispy battered-and-fried portobello mushroom patty. The breading was tempura-like without being super flaky. I'd give 5 stars if the meat patty wasn't quite so well done again but overall delicious meal. Love this Shake Shack! Parking can be difficult if you don't live or work in the area. I've ordered from here several times. I have to admit I always get the same thing; the chicken sandwich and fries. My son once ordered chocolate ice cream and he liked it. I love their crinkle cut fries. Try it, you might like it! Disappointing. My husband, son and I wandered around the Seaport District and they wanted shakes or smoothies and we found this place. When we walked in, there was a pretty long line. That really didn't make a lot of sense given the burgers, hot dogs and fries. There was only one cashier. It looked pretty inefficient and insufficient.
