What made the experience even more memorable was the hospitality. The owner was there, took the time to chat with guests, and was incredibly kind. As a nice surprise, he even treated us to complimentary turon, which was such a thoughtful gesture and a perfect way to end the meal. It's little moments like that that make a restaurant stand out. Great food, warm hospitality, and a welcoming atmosphere make Ludi's an easy recommendation for anyone visiting downtown Seattle. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town.

We love the BLT salad, this time the shredded beat and carrot salad was excellent, and so was the butter lettuce salad w/ housemade Green Goddess dressing. The soups are insane, but this time we tried the smoked sablefish with an unreal horseradish cream and beets. For entrees, we ordered the pork w/ nectarines (out of this world), moussaka and halibut. For dessert, profiteroles and their galette of the day w/ housemade ice cream - wow. An absolutely delightful meal. Can't wait to return!

Server didn't ask how everything was or if we liked it, and I thought that was a bit odd. Our server was friendly but she was also busy with a lot of tables and our interactions felt more quick and business like. A couple times we needed something I had to make eye contact to get attention. Inside was quite nice. Simple. We had a booth by the window and it was just right. Overall a very nice time if you want this style of food.

Tempting pastry case with savory and sweet choices, the usual bevs, as well as, cocktails. Vibrant place to visit solo or meetups with others. The 16oz iced mokka (mocha) I had was well crafted. Both counter folks were personable and welcoming. I was able to sit at a two top and remain cool during my brief visit on that hot Tuesday early afternoon. They've been an indie (Cafe Hagen/Freya) that has expanded to many locations: here in SLU, two on Queen Anne, downtown on 5th, at Dexter, the Waterfront, Freya in Pike Place Market and Nordic Museum in Ballard, plus sites over in Bellevue and Kirkland. Never felt so discriminated in my life. This place is the absolute worst! Management you need to do better about your establishment! This place discriminates and for no reason We are visiting Seattle from SoCal. We are of Asian decent. Our family joining us were visiting Seattle for the first time. They are military and moving to Japan tomorrow. They are African American and they wanted to try Shaker + Spear as their last meal in America. We all walked in as you can see from outside that there were empty tables. We were a party of 6. The white hostess looked at us and basically said she doesn't have a table to accommodate us and that she won't have any for the rest of the night. My group consisted of 3 adults and 3 children. There was a table right in front of her that accommodated more than 6 people. She said I can recommend somewhere a bit more "casual". I didn't understand what she meant by that as we were just as casual as she was, along with other people in that restaurant. She then proceeds to call on another guy saying what's that one Mexican place that you recommend? The guy looked confused as he was like it's Italian. She then proceeds to name other places that we had no desire to eat at. We hear of this happening all the time to other people and today, this ignorant POS wanted to give us that experience. Does this establishment not accept kids? Is there a dress code to eat here? Do you have to be of a certain race to be allowed to eat here? Are we, as tourists, not allowed to dress casual in jeans, pea coats, and Nikes, to feel comfortable in the rainy Seattle weather as we are sightseeing? Is this attire just not acceptable to eat at this establishment? Do you just judge people as if we look like we can't afford to eat there? Whatever her ignorant reasons were, we all felt discriminated by this white chick. Then to top if off, as we were exiting, one of our kids was approached by another white ignorant idiot. My nephew had a boot on as he broke his leg in an accident. This idiot decides to ask my nephew hey kid what did you do to get that boot? Was it something stupid or smart? He's like there's only one right answer but I bet you that you did something stupid right? I was like wtf are you f-ing kidding me right now?! What kind of idiot talks like to this a child??!! From the moment we arrived, the service was warm and attentive without ever feeling rushed. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with just the right amount of energy for a memorable night out. The meal started off on a high note with their house bread--fresh, warm, and served with a perfectly whipped butter that made it hard to stop at just one piece. We shared the fingerling potatoes as a side, and they were incredible: crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and seasoned to perfection with just a touch of herb and salt that made them totally addictive. The wine selection was impressive--well-curated and thoughtful, with options to suit every palate. I don't typically indulge in seafood, but every bite tonight was a revelation. The cauliflower steak was simply delicious, and the roasted pepitas added a fantastic crunch that elevated the dish. Despite my usual preference for fully cooked salmon, I thoroughly enjoyed the medium rare preparation, which paired perfectly with the squash and pickled watermelon. Very good food. Slightly overpriced. It's inside of a hotel, so you're paying a "we have you captive" tax. We came here for brunch. I had the trout Spread and homemade crackers and my husband had the crab cake Benedict which features the cakes as the muffins. This is a great idea! Yum. He had a cappuccino which ran $6, and I had a $4 tea. Both were alright, but definitely not worth those costs. If you're charging $6 for coffee it better be something to write about and not in the way that I'm currently doing it. The trout was awesome. In a city with so many options, this was good, but not worth the rating it currently has. The service was great. Hosts and servers super accommodating. I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could. read more

Ah, my mouth is watering remembering last night! This place is def worth trying and returning and recommending and inviting. I went with a friend of mine who ordered the cheese sandwich (sorry if I don't remember exactly how it was on the menu. It comes with fries and white souse and it was delish. I went with the octopus and broccolini along with the brown rise chicken bowl with a lot of goodies. Delicious. Absolutely amazing food. I don't usually do dessert, but because I liked the food so much, I had to give it a try, and that was my best decision ever. We went to eat at the whiskey bar, but decided we wanted a little bit more food and came here what a delight! The atmosphere is wonderful. The sever was very kind and very friendly, and the food came quickly. I got the charred octopus which was divine. In addition, I go the steelhead, which was simply delicious. My husband got the scallops, which was very good too. Thank you so much for a wonderful time and great service. I can't say enough good things about the dishes. Fantastic fish!! I took my best friend out on a hot lady date here! We dressed up, had champagne, Mac and cheese, and the fresh fish option!! Oh mamma. This place is amazing! I didn't think you could find a fresher piece of fish that Matt's or Ivars, but with the way Shaker and Spear dresses up their entrees is pretty exquisite. We stopped in to the speakeasy as well while we were there. So for dinner I had the George Burger. I would give it a four out of five. It was nice and soft, and it had a really good flavor to it. They do cut it in half and put it on the plate with a sauce. I told them I didn't want the sauce; that's not my thing. They ended up giving it to me on the side, and I tasted it. It was a little too salty for me, but the big deal with the burger, honestly, the best part of it was the fries. The fries get a 5 out of 5. These are called the house smoky fries, and they truly had a strong, deep smoky flavor. I ate the entire bowl, definitely the best part of my meal. My wife had the warm Dungeness crab dip, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She said that it was a five out of five. She's not big on cheese, but the flavor was good, and it really paired well with the dish. The staff was really nice. My wife's birthday was the week before, and so they brought her out a really nice chocolate cake with a chocolate cover like a dome and a nice big sparkler. I did a video of it. I didn't take pictures of it. It was really good. So the next morning, I did get the Olympic breakfast. I looked at the French toast, but it really didn't speak to me at the price point. I went with the Olympic breakfast, which was definitely filling, with good flavor on the eggs, and great texture with the cheddar cheese. The pork sausage had a good flavor, and the potatoes were nice and filling. I really enjoyed the sourdough toast. There is a $2 up charge with the cheese, even though it says you get the eggs however you want them. You get the eggs; however, you're willing to pay for them. The key reason for us coming there was that we stayed at the hotel, and a part of the package that we actually received upon booking the room was some credits at the restaurant, so we went. They do provide really good service, and the food was pretty good. Overall, the drink that my wife got was actually in the Founders Club, which is not inside The George but is inside the hotel itself. She was amazed at those. They are pretty pricey, but she said that they were delicious.

I ordered the fish and chips and my sister ordered an A&A burger. My food was just okay-- it lacked flavor. My sister enjoyed her burger. I don't think I would return for dinner, but I had their breakfast buffet the next morning and it was very good, although pricey. I'd definitely go back for that. They offered lots of delicious fruit like watermelon and red grapes that I enjoyed very much. Good French toast, too.

The "Truffle Fries" were a letdown: not hand-cut, as you'd expect from an establishment like Charlotte, but ordinary frozen french fries with a dusting of parmesan on top. So not worth the calories...we ate about a quarter of them. Last time the burgers had a nice charcoal flavor and felt properly cooked. This time they felt rushed and messy. After spending $170+ we decided to mention it to the manager. Unfortunately the response was disappointing. Alex, the manager, simply said he would "let the kitchen know." No effort to address the situation, no curiosity, no service recovery. It felt like I was filing a report instead of giving feedback as a customer. For a place charging Four Seasons prices, you expect Four Seasons hospitality. Sarah did what she could, but management completely missed the moment. Between the food inconsistency, the weak response from management, and the odd layout of the space, I won't be returning. Overpriced and poorly handled.
