    B-5. Chicken Bowl
    Mike G.

Great food! My wife and I tried the. Bulgogi Bowl and Spicy Chicken bowl. Both were great with generous portions of protein. The spicy chicken definitely had a kick which we enjoyed. The service was quick and kind. The interior had a welcoming humble presence. We will be back!

Bulgogi Combo 1 and a side of Kimchi

One of my new favorites! I want to go back and try every sauce!! I was at a conference in the area that provided lunch but they had nothing I could eat so I quickly scrambled to find a place close by with vegan options. Shaking bowl did not disappoint! I had the veggie bowl with tofu and the sweet chili sauce and it was delicious! I loved how easy it was to order with a detailed explanation of the sauces. Staff was very friendly and helpful and the cafe itself was welcoming and cozy. Can't wait to visit again!

I used to go to U-City Grill to enjoy this kind of fare. They have disappeared during the building renovation. I would usually get the Bibimbap, which was basically the same dish as this Bulgogi bowl, plus a sunny side up egg on top. I had inquired about the Bulgogi bowl, and the Fire Chicken bowl. I decided with the Bulgogi bowl, with the Fire sauce (they have regular Fire, and super hot Fire sauce.) I decided with the regular Fire sauce to be added to my bowl. Delicious! The flavor was wonderful, the rice coiled perfectly, and a nice blend of veggies. $14 included tax, and I have about a third of it left for part of tonight's dinner. I will definitely be returning.

I was in the area around lunch time and decided to stop in. They have 4.5 and above ratings on Yelp and Google, so this place was a definite must try! They offer counter service at this spot. The menu is fairly self explanatory. Pick your protein, carb, and veggies. Don't know where to start or what to get?? There are several house selections to choose from as well. I love bulgogi, so that was a must for me. I added a side of kimchi and gyoza to round out my meal. I stopped in on a Wednesday afternoon, so they weren't too busy. My food was ready in about 15 minutes. The bowl was absolutely beautiful! Full of tender beef,a generous portion of rice, and packed full of veggies. The gyoza was crisp with a flavorful filling. The kimchi was pretty good. I do have a favorite kimchi here in St. Louis that is almost impossible to beat in my opinion. This kimchi fit the bill and balanced out the sweetness and richness of the bulgogi. I'm planning to stop back soon to try the teriyaki salmon bowl!

    Fried tofu on Veggie bowl

Arrived around 1:45 pm on Tuesday for our 1st visit -- we didn't notice until close to 1:30 pm that they close (take a break) at 2 pm. Lady owner who took our order was very pleasant. I ordered veggie bowl on default white rice and added fried tofu. I wish they would leave the egg on top when tofu is added (they didn't put egg on mine). I chose "Yummy" sauce -- it was ok but next time I'll get sesame soy to get a more authentic flavor. Son ordered bulgogi bowl on default white rice. We did not know that the bowl would be so dry and tasteless without their "spicy sauce". I had stepped back from the counter so I can't be sure if the lady asked my son if he wanted sauce or not, but my son doesn't like much spicy so if she did ask he probably said no. I checked their online ordering later and "Spicy sauce" is a free selection, so it should have been given by default, or include a soy or other free sauce. Customers would at least have the option to use it, which we didn't. Gojuchang is $1 additional cost. There was a sign on a wall of their restaurant explaining Bibimbap. We have eaten a LOT of Bibimbap at various restaurants, though we usually get DolSot Bibimbap. My son usually does not add Gojuchang, so that should not have been the cause for this bowl being tasteless. If this bowl was supposed to be Bibimbap, the only part that had the correct flavor was the bulgogi beef. I will give them credit for not being stingy with the proteins (tofu and beef). There was also alot of rice (base). We both saved half to add more ingredients for another meal.

I would recommend this place. The food is always fresh and delicious. I waited 10 minutes for my spicy fire bowl with an egg on top and didn't disappoint at all. The inside of the restaurant is very calm and clean and I always dine in.

Shaking bowl is the go-to for ridiculously fresh, filling, and fantastic food. I've ordered the Bulgogi steak bowl at least 5 times. You can taste how freshly picked the vegetables are. I custom order my steak bowl without cucumber, but you can make any accommodations you'd like! It's a small hole in the wall joint right off Telegraph. Every time I pick up my order, I'm greeted by the nice lady who works register and takes orders. She is always very kind! Highly recommend! The portion sizes are great too! There's plenty of options for vegetarians too :)

Love this hidden gem ! Love coming here with my daughter on Saturdays during dance season. The owners are great. It's def a family place...plenty of seating and tons of food options. Everything I've tried has been great and will continue to come here.

    B-3. Jaeyook Bowl
    Beck E.

The nicest employees and the freshest food! I was blown away by the quality of ingredients in my (B-3) Jaeyook bowl. I also had to try some chicken wings (yummy sauce), which came out hot and crispy. And of course it was all delicious. Portions were very good. I noticed they sell Korean corndogs (mozzarella filling only), which are difficult to come by in the STL area. There were a lot of other sides I wanted to try but didn't have room for. Plenty of seating available on a Friday afternoon around 12:30 pm. Very cute mom & pop shop-type vibes. I'm not ever really in Oakville, but if I ever find myself there again, I'll be grabbing a bite to eat at Shaking Bowl.

    B-5. Chicken Bowl

I got the sweet and sour chicken bowl and it was delicious!!! Service was quick and efficient, and the employees were very kind. Very chill setting inside, great for sitting down and doing work. Meal was fantastic, would recommend. 10/10

In a retail plaza next to the Post Office, easy parking right in front. The entry leads to a half wall that now indicates you should wait to be seated. I was greeted and seated upon entry. Serena was my server and she was really sweet. She brought me water and gave me time with the menu. The menu has quite a few different sections, but I focused on the Ramen! I decide to go with the Super Ichiro Ramen that has chicken and pork chashu, bamboo shoots, seasoned egg (two halves!) green onion, fish cake, spinach, and black garlic oil. The pork and chicken chashu were so good! There was lots of chicken and I loved it. I really enjoyed the broth. I asked for extra chili oil as I wanted more heat. I really, really want to try the Crab Rangoon but the only option is to order six and that is too many even counting leftovers. I wish they offered a smaller option. I enjoyed the different Ramen I ordered, and the wait staff was really friendly. If you want something other than Ramen, there is plenty to choose from! Lo Mein, Fried Rice, Udon, Korean chicken, Hibachi, Teriyaki, Chef's Specialties, Bowls, Donburi, and Stir Fry. Wow.

We lived in Japan for nine years, so admittedly, we can be a little picky when it comes to Japanese food. I started with the lychee martini, which was just okay. It's made with lychee juice rather than puree and didn't have any actual lychee in it, so it wasn't quite what I was hoping for. For appetizers, we ordered the shumai and shrimp tempura. Both were decent, although the shumai arrived a little cool and could have been served warmer. The highlight was definitely the Love Boat for Two, which was a HUGE assortment of sushi and sashimi. We really enjoyed it. The fish wasn't quite as fresh as some of the sushi and sashimi we've had elsewhere, and the sashimi was cut much thicker than I personally prefer. On the bright side, I guess that means we got more fish, so that's not exactly the worst complaint to have! One random thing I really appreciated was the temperature inside the restaurant. Missouri is pretty hot and humid, but I also hate walking into a restaurant where the AC is blasting so cold that I need a jacket. Miyabi had it just right. It was cool enough to be comfortable without being freezing, and I was able to sit and enjoy our meal without getting cold and wanting to leave early. It's a small thing, but it definitely added to the experience for me. Service was probably the weakest part of our visit. Our server was difficult for us to understand at times, which made communication a little challenging, and overall the service wasn't quite as attentive as I would have liked. They also had taiko drumming during our visit, which was a fun idea for the atmosphere. Having lived in Japan for so long, though, we couldn't help but notice that it seemed more like enthusiastic drum banging than actual taiko drumming. That's probably us being extremely nitpicky, but we definitely got a little laugh out of it. Overall, the food was good, the Love Boat was impressive, and we had an enjoyable dinner. There were a few things that could have been better, particularly the service and some of the food temperatures and freshness, but I'd still give Miyabi a solid four stars.

I'm in the process of moving to St. Louis and on my travel here this evening I saw this sign for this sushi place and I thought, it's been a while since I've had good sushi." Granted, my expectations for good sushi in farmland Missouri are not real high. But what I got in my interaction with the staff and what they gave me as an order was frankly embarrassing. I feel bad for those unfamiliar with sushi and Japanese culture who come to this place and think they're getting an authentic experience. I will tell you: they are not. It started when the server asked me whether I wanted to see the menu or I knew what I wanted. Generally, as a vegan, I have very few options, so they're pretty much the same wherever. Sometimes I might be able to get a good shiitake maki roll, but nine times out of ten, I'm limited to avocado and cucumber rolls. I asked if they had inarizushi. Blank stares. The server had no idea what I was talking about, none. I repeated it and she answered back with "unagi?," which is barbecued eel, definitely not vegan. We tried a third time and she asked about egg. I said no that's tamago. ‍ Frustrated, I broke down and looked up inarizushi on Wikipedia, which provided a picture. She exclaimed, "Oh! Tofu skin!" The itamae (sushi chef) nodded and said the same. Now I don't know about you, but even as a vegan who enjoys "tofu skin" in a variety of dishes, that sounds absolutely horrid. But there it is, listed on the menu as tofu skin. My heart actually started to hurt a little, because the Japanese words are descriptive in nature, not just of the ingredients that's contained with each roll or piece, but of the culture that goes into it. But then came the confusion of the pricing, where instead of sets where you get six pieces of a particular maki roll in one set or two pieces of 稲荷 in one order, every single piece you order was individually priced. I'm positive this is to maximize profits, because after ordering only two tofu skins and six avocados my bill was over $19. Seriously? For middle of the sticks Missouri sushi? There was no place to sit at the sushi bar while I waited, and I stood around uncomfortably feeling like I was in everyone's way while I waited for my sushi order. Eventually, I noticed there was a bench in the entrance alcoveand I sat there to wait on my sushi and immediately started a review on Yelp, knowing that I was going to write of my disappointment while giving a three star recommendation. When I got my order, the inari was the smallest I've ever seen. Seriously, I'd get bigger pieces at a Lawson's near the train station, and no doubt tastier and more filling. Worse was this abomination of avocado sushi prepared in nigirizushi style. I've been all over Japan and had never seen avocado served like this, especially when I was expecting a maki roll. I just sat in the car, and I immediately marched back in and said, "Look, I don't want this. I don't think you guys know what you're doing." I tried to explain to them how I was expecting a maki roll and they had no idea what was talking about. How can you have a sushi restaurant when you don't understand the basics of sushi? They were all confused about why I wanted my money back and why I wasn't happy. I didn't really want to get in a debate or a discussion of cultural misappropriation, but if you're looking for an authentic sushi-ya ... brother, this ain't it. I finally just looked at the chef and I said in Mandarin 我不买 "I won't buy it." And that seemed to end the discussion. The restaurant was packed. People seemed to be enjoying it, and the workers were very nice, but they don't know what they're doing. This is not Japanese sushi, it's just the Temu of version of Japanese cuisine bastardized for an American audience. Don't even get me started on putting hot mustard packs in my to go bag. Just really disappointing and inauthentic.
