Came here for a coffee and a waffle, stopped inside since I didn't know how the restaurant was set up and they told me I could sit anywhere since the restaurant was completely empty, so I sat outside. Immediately after being seated our drink orders were taken and they came out promptly. Another server came out and took our order. 20 minutes pass and another server comes out to see if we need our order taken, and we let him know we already our order. Another 10 minutes pass and we notice the restaurant now has another 5 tables with patrons who are eating and we still haven't received our single waffle we ordered. I finish my large cup of coffee before I go in and ask to just pay for my beverages since I obviously wasn't getting my waffle and they said they were just finishing it. The food was decent but the service was awful. I waited 35 minutes for a single waffle with bananas on it. Looking for a quick bite? You'll have better luck at a walk up window or an ihop. read more

We live nearby and try to eat here once a month. It's a small menu, focusing on liege waffles and their toppings, so make sure you're in the mood for that and not eggs and hash browns. I never thought of putting hot sauce on waffles but the Trappey's hot sauce they serve is a perfect compliment to some of the waffle combinations. The coffee here is outstanding as well. My fiance loves their chai latte and when we're in the mood for coffee this is where we walk to. The owner, RJ, and his staff have always been courteous and friendly every time we've been there. This is my favorite place to get breakfast. The restaurant is small, but there is plenty of seating options and it is decorated beautifully. The customer service is always great, the menu is outstanding, and the pricing is affordable. If you go, you HAVE to try the waffles! They have sweet and savory Liège waffles. I love both, so usually I get a friend to come with me-- they order the sweet and I order savory... so we get to split them. Best of both worlds. ;) PS- Bring cash for tips here. What a RIP! $8.50 for one slice of French toast with two toppings!? Jesus Christ! I mean, the waffle was good and all, and so were the chocolate hazelnut toppings. But you DEFINITELY don't get VALUE for your hard-earned dough! A very interesting coffee bar that specializes in "Liege" waffles. Normal Belgium waffles are what you get at breakfast restaurants. "Liege" waffles are special yeast dough made waffles that are chewier and heavier than normal breakfast waffles. At Shaky Alibi they actually make the waffles from scratch in front of you. When you order, they take a lump of dough, work in the pearlized sugar lumps and them put the dough in the waffle iron. After a few minutes you get a piping hot and crispy Liege waffle. They have a variety of spreads from "Specaloo" (ginger cookie) to chocolate, caramel and Nutella. Shaky Alibi is located on Beverly Blvd. in Hollywood near the Farmer's Market and the Grove. Although the service was great (a little slow) I wasn't to thrilled to see my eggs being nuked in the microwave. I ordered the savory special which came with maple syrup but the server added that it was already sweet so no point of adding it. So I'm thinking to myself why serve it then? First time visitor. Got a regular iced coffee ($3) instead of the cold brew ($4.50) and I was happy. The alternative milks they used are special barista quality, so you won't run into the iced coffee-almond milk separation issues. Will definitely be back when I'm in the area. read more

i tried the waffles -- they are FANTAULOUS! crunch outside, topped with sweet powder sugar. definitely order it with homemade whipped cream -- so fluffy and delish. my only complaint is flies flying all over the shop and landing on the food. rj - you need to do something about that. my recommendation is get a portable ac and keep the door closed. i'll be back for savory waffles though... i agree with kimberly h., although syrup dessert opens until late and has free wifi, this place definitely has better quality waffles fo' sho'. read more

If you are thinking about hunkering down for a breakfast and if you are hungry, this IS NOT the place to be. The waffles were very small and somewhat pricey. I mean the plate is small and there is this small waffle just sitting there. We thought we woul split the waffle and poached egg platter. It was two over cooked poached eggs on a thin slice of ham and a banana cut into slices. Two waffles, poached eggs drinks for $31. Really? I stopped in here today around 5 pm. The service was excellent. They were so friendly and offered samples of the different spreads for the waffles. Their coffee is really delicious and is from a local roaster so the beans are incredibly fresh. The waffle was seriously amazing. It looked like a big ball of dough (not batter) was just dropped onto the waffle iron. The waffle was crisp and slightly sweet. A great snack on the go or for dessert. I am a big fan of waffles in general so this place is kinda a dream come true. The decor is also pretty cool. Nice bar/counter to sit and an a bench in the back. Looks as is there is more seating to come. I look forward to returning many times in the near future! read more
