As we were walking inside the restaurant I actually was picking a fight with my husband for no apparent reason... possibly because I was hungry but after I took my first bite, I forgot about the argument haha. I told him he needs to bring me here ALL THE TIME. I am yet to come back a 2nd time and I already anticipate loving it the 2nd time. We drove by one day hoping to have a 2nd try here and it was really busy so we didn't make the stop. I look forward to coming back and the next time around I will not hesitate to order a full size waffle order. We also had their cafe de olla cold brew (since it was a hot summer heat wave), and it was good - classic with their cafe de olla spices - but I'm sure their classic hot cafe de olla is even better. I believe I've gotten their other regular brunch items, but wish I just opted for their Mexican favorites since that's their bread and butter here. Great business. Great service. Love to support!

This is one of my all time favorite casual breakfast joints and it is high time I let the Internet know! Everything about this place is great. The waffles and perfect, the eggs are always cooked exactly right, the fresh lemonade selection is wonderful, and the staff is always friendly, smiling, and engaging. Which is particularly endearing for a place I'm usually at quite early in the morning. Some people are thrown off by the waffles here because of their size (small) and the rock sugar crystals inside... Well this is actually how real traditional Belgian Waffles are made! They're a crispy, sugary treat. On the menu here there are tons of savory option as well to satisfy everyone's breakfast craving: sweet AND savory. Is this the spot to hit if you want one of those LA power breakfasts packed with protein and relieved of calories... Nope this isn't the spot. i think most people that reviewed this place and gave it more than 1 star are ignorant! maybe that's how most people are in LA! am new to LA, my international classmate from school, told me to check this place out, since i'm from europe, and i've had eaten a lot of waffles, including my mother's. anyway, my first impression...pretentious, unfriendly staff, the manager or owner seemed so arrogant and stuck up! i'm not sure he may be gay because he kept starring at me, haha, just kidding! anyway, so i ordered a waffle plain, since this type of waffles are made already sweetened! so it was so small, but pricey, and it took a long time! so much waist of space, i think i didn't finish my meal, because there was flies and insects everywhere, and i saw a cockroach on the floor. I actually didn't like any of the combinations of waffles on the menu so I asked if I could build my own waffle plate. They were nice and met my needs! I was so happy to build my own, you have no idea! I live for waffles! I ordered a regular waffles with cinnamon sprinkled on top and then strawberries and on top of that powdered sugar! I wanted to love this place as there isn't a cute small coffee house in the neighborhood. I live 4 blocks away. I was very hopeful! But I couldn't get past the extremely rude owner. A girl in front of me was asking about a job and he completely dismissed her, scoffed and said he was fully staffed and then immediately turned his back on her. I will never go in again. So sad. I've been coming here for nearly 4 years now and it doesn't get old! Their coffee is the best in LA and the waffles are mouth watering! Our fav's are the ham n cheese savory waffle with the famous hot sauce or if you want something sweet, go for the creamy speculoos with strawberry's! It does get busy on weekends, but be patient! The service is also friendly:) The only drawback, in my opinion, is that ever since that place moved from its former larger location on Sunset to a smaller place on West 3rd St, the interior has gotten a lot more cramped. Substituting it without informing the customer isn't providing a "superior" option; it's misleading. A simple "We're out of drip -- would an Americano work?" would be appreciated and honest. Regarding the coffee quality, the cups I've received late in the day have repeatedly tasted stale and bitter, which is consistent with coffee that's been sitting for hours. I'm glad to hear you don't reuse day-old batches, but freshness still matters. As for staff interactions, a calm explanation goes much further than confrontation. Transparency and basic customer service would make a big difference instead of dismissing valid feedback as "keyboard warrior" behavior. Simon, one more point since you mentioned not wanting to "waste" a full batch late in the day: That choice appears to be about saving money and product rather than providing the coffee customers actually order. Repeatedly substituting an Americano without telling people (even after they've specifically requested no Americano) or serving coffee that's been sitting so long it's bitter isn't good service -- it's cutting corners. You could easily instruct your two workers to simply tell customers "We're out of fresh drip after 3:30/4 pm" instead of quietly swapping or serving old coffee. That small change would prevent the frustration and health reactions (agitation from the strong/bitter brew) that multiple people have experienced. Transparency costs nothing. Respecting customer requests shouldn't be optional. Hoping for improvements.
