They have a small menu but it is a small café. No indoor seating, just outside. We got a breakfast wrap and avocado toast. Both yummy! We also got smoothies and a latte. Just as delicious! I have been coming to this place for years. The owner is the sweetest person. She works SO hard making the place lovely, comfortable & providing good food. It's such a lovely little oasis in the middle of the big city. She has beautiful plants all over, making the seating area a nice place to hang out. Her daughter does a fantastic job designing the beautiful holders for the coffee. She's always posting new things to try on the menu and keeping the yummy stuff on the regular everyday menu. It's one of my favorite places to hang out & get a break from the noisy city. I will say to any new potential customers, please respect her right to ever SO kindly ask you NOT to bring your dogs in the cafe. She has had to clean up after dogs urinating by the front door (witnessed that) as well as in the cafe on the chip stand, causing her to have to toss out ALL of it, which is quite costly. When dogs pee on the plant stands, by the door or anywhere around the area, her staff has to scrub everything down immediately which stops them from keeping the cafe running smoothly. She asks very kindly but customers yell at her, bully feeling quite righteous that they should have their dogs anywhere & everywhere including sitting in the chairs on the cushions for customers. Her goal is to keep the area, with food, clean & sanitary. As well as keeping other customers safe. PLEASE, consider her feelings as well as the rest of us. read more

I'm going to slam them in a minute, but first. Tucked away in the courtyard at Park LaBrea near the activities center. Small room to order & plenty of outdoor seating. Large Latte for $4.50 was great and the food was good. $8 for the breakfast croissant and $5.50 for oatmeal with fruit. Bagel was also good. While ordering I noticed the row of self-serve coffee servers and the $0.75 refills sign. Since we were up early with the grandchild, I was looking forward to a second cup since we were staying with friends in the complex. They brought us our food outside and when I finished the latte went back in and got a refill. The woman rang me up for a coffee. I pointed out the refill sign. She confirmed that I got a latte and not a coffee. I'd just spent $25 and looked at her with incredulity. I said "well a latte IS a coffee and I just bought it here." Undaunted she demanded nearly $3 pointing out that she was "ONLY"charging me for a small. Needless to say this ridiculous rule and incident which makes no sense has me writing them a review to warn others. I think this woman needs to change her policy since I spent MORE than a coffee and should be entitled to a refill not a new full purchase. The $2 means nothing to either of us but I'll just go over to the Grove next time because of this. Bad taste in my mouth after a nice breakfast. read more

This restaurant is located in the middle of PLB (Park La Brea). The scenery is really nice and relaxing. There's a good size park area with a lot of trees/ greenery, which is great for people watching. The breakfast burrito and breakfast burger is good but only sold on the weekends. The chicken panini is also pretty good but a little bland. The people working at the cafe are super nice but they tend to scrimp on sandwich portions (mostly bread) so I don't feel like it's worth what they charge. Two paninis, chips and a small salad will run you upwards of $30 dollars, which sounds decent if the sandwich actually was a sandwich. read more

The bad: I come here pretty often and I've eaten a few lunches here. My biggest complaint is the low level of freshness at this cafe. I got a chicken caesar salad once and the romaine was wilted, chicken was so hot and tasted gross and microwaved. The cheese was not great either, one of those cheap grade parmasan that is only a level higher from the powdered parmasan stuff you get in a green bottle. They really shouldn't cheap out on the ingredients when they charge 9.99 for a measly looking chicken caesar. Seriously this salad tasted so horrible. Also let's talk about their americano that tastes burned and stale ALL THE TIME. This also comes to me as a surprise because people get coffee here all the time!!! Go to the Burnside cafe.. the one that is in the middle circle place past fuller. Their americano is phenomenal and the bean is fresh. The better/good, and things they should work on: Their prosciutto panini on ciabatta (you can pick other kinds of bread but I think ciabatta is the best) is pretty good but again they skimp out on the freshness of the cantaloupe. The fruit salad that comes with it also lacked in its freshness..While this combo is not a bad price, their normal fruit salad (the one you get on its own) has berries and other fruits... and the discrepancy is rather disappointing! The fruit salad that comes with the food, is not fresh and usually sits there for a while. They need to work on keeping their ingredients fresh!!! read more

It's not a bad place to eat, but don't expect a true restaurant. This is a little bitty stand inside Park la Brea, right outside in the middle of a big common grassy courtyard area. I'll be honest, I had a good time watching the neighborhood kids run around playing outside together. But there were a LOT of kids and if that's not your thing, might be best to avoid. Parking was also a bit weird since we don't live in Park la Brea so we weren't sure what was assigned and what wasn't. No tickets or trouble though. I yelped breakfast spots near La Brea Tar Pits and came across this. The cafe has a huge outside patio and we had no problem getting a table. The service was great, cashier was super friendly and if you're eating in they'll bring your food out to your table. I was there very early so there was no wait time and our food was out in a few minutes. This cafe is about as good as it gets. You pay for the convenience and honestly, to walk downstairs in my pj's if I have to, just to grab a croissant or chips for my sandwich at lunch is very nice. We are fortunate Jessica serves really good food too which we've picked up on our way out. Just ask for them not to put salad in your breakfast burrito if you don't like salad and egg (which I'm not sure why they would make it that way anyway), the mushroom pesto panini is awesome and half sandwich and fruit is enough. The burgers on the weekends they make on an outside grill are really delicious too. I would be incredibly disappointed if this closed down. read more

This place has a bunch of... basically garden food? What's garden food? It's like, food you would eat at a garden: Sandwiches, coffee/tea, FroYo, fruit/salad, cookies, madelines... You see the trend here? So you can eat it here everything is +/-$10 so I suppose it's reasonable. But you don't want to eat here all the time. I go here most of the time for cookies they have and open aired WiFi. (Sure, it's comfy working in your home but you just need to get to the outdoors to work on something on your computer). I live ridiculously close to here so I frequent it. There could be a slaughter house here, and as long as they provided free WiFi and cookies I'd frequent it. Some of the best sandwiches ever, featuring ingredients you won't find at Subway: eggplant, roasted peppers, pesto sauce. Great veggie sandwiches as well as high-quality meat, and wonderful choices of bread. They press and heat the sandwiches, so maybe that makes them panini? Our friends had this place cater a party in the adjacent park, and the sandwiches were so good that we had to go back. Atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant, with clean metal tables and chairs. Today they had a separate outdoor cooking station serving a variety of grilled specials. If you don't live in Park LaBrea, you can still ask the guard at the gate to let you go to the "Curson Cafe." About $3 more than Subway, but the difference is like night and day. read more
