My husband bought my engagement ring at Shane Co in Novato in 2004, we bought my wedding ring at Shane Co San Mateo in 2005 and along the way I've been lucky enough to receive some other lovely S.C. pieces! I've had some repairs done on the rings and each experience has been fantastic. The rings come back more beautiful than before (cleaned! polished!). On this last repair and inspection visit, I decided to upgrade my engagement band to something with a little more bling. I had a very disappointing experience at this location due to the behavior of a salesperson. I did not get his name, but he was a buzz cut blonde hair man who was assisting me. I found his attitude to be rude and unprofessional. While I don't remember his exact words, he questioned me in a dismissive tone about why I wanted to look at diamonds, apparently because he needed to retrieve them from the office. I was surprised by this interaction. As a customer, I don't believe I should be made to justify my interest in viewing merchandise. There is a significant difference between politely asking how you can assist a customer and questioning their intentions in a way that feels confrontational. He also set away to help other clients while he is assisting me. He didn't ask me if additional service is needed before he left. I have never had an experience like this before. I have visited other Shane Co. locations in the past and have always received exceptional customer service. Unfortunately, this experience fell far below those standards and left a very negative impression. Because of this interaction, I do not plan to return to this location. read more

I came in looking for a wedding band and initially asked for Alex, but he was in a meeting. A sales associate with tattoos helped me instead and was very patient while assisting me in choosing my wedding band. It took a bit of time to locate my preferences in my file, but she eventually found the perfect match for me. I was so happy to try it on and ended up purchasing it right away. The lady helping us didn't want me to try on anything because "it was bad luck" and didn't bring out other shape diamonds because "if you know what you want the others won't look good". We were in and out in like 30 mins. BUT today, my bf and I decided to go see what I would like because I had no idea. We were greeted immediately by Kelsey, even though she was helping another customer. Kelsey is very knowledgeable in the work she does. I've made multiple purchases at Shane Co and I really appreciate their in-store jewelry selection as well as their service. It's great to be able to see the pieces in person because that's really important for fine jewelry, and they've always been very nice about returns, changes, and customization. I really appreciate their policy where you can bring your jewelry in for regular cleaning for free and as long as there's regular cleaning and upkeep, they'll replace any lost stones. This helps me wear my jewelry everywhere without worrying about it. This time, Amanda in particular was super helpful with my buying a piece for my mom's 70th birthday. I looked at a bunch of different items, several that had to be shipped from elsewhere. Highly recommended to us by close friends, we decided to do our searches with the company for a ring that would be suitable. The website was easy to peruse through and organize the type of ring and gemstone settings that we were interested in. I liked the pictures and videos of the different gemstones that you can pick which helped us narrow things down mid way. The overall process was over a few months, but we were able to outline things really well from beginning through to purchase. The assistance and service was probably the most important piece. Malik answered general questions for availability and assisted in getting me in touch with one of their jewelers Alex. Alex answered any of the questions I had whether via phone or email and helped to finalize some of the decisions we had regarding settings, deco crowns, and the thickness of the ring. This helped fine tune everything. Lastly, Mandy one of the managers in the area assisted with questions on layaway, putting things on hold, hold at locations, and guiding the purchase to pick up and final check. I came here with my now Wife to get our wedding bands. We needed something in the next 10 days for our wedding ceremony at city hall. The team was able to find us options within our budget that would be ready in time. We really appreciated the team working with us. They told us it would only take 3 days and we came in on a Tuesday, so we would have more than enough time. We came back to pick it up on a Saturday about an hour and a half before closing. The store seemed busy and we felt like we were being rushed towards the end of our experience when we returned. We had a different person helping us vs the first time so maybe that was the reason... They have an upgrade policy where you can use the value of the ring as credit to get another ring that is at least 2x the value of your purchase. 4/28/24 Zach and I came to Shane Co. to look for his wedding band. On this day, we came for a second look because when we came two weeks ago, there was a lady who tried helping us but we could tell she was new since she was all over the place. This time, we were helped by Bianca and she was great. Zach got his finger resized again to be sure we were getting the correct ring size. At the previous appointment, Zach already knew which one he wanted, but he felt like he needed to try that same one on a final time. We checked other jewelry stores prior to that but he didn't like the other ones he tried. His ring is really unique to what we saw at other places. The wedding band has 14K gold all around and the shading of it made me think it was wood, but Bianca said it's gold. The grey metal is called Tantalum which I had never heard of. Apparently, it's used in the production of electronic products. Everyone there was really nice and pleasant. The displays of the jewelry were clean and very well lit. At the front, they even have a drink and small snacks at the counter. Price wise, his ring wasn't crazy expensive. The checking out process was very easy as well. They also text you a reminder for jewelry pick up which is nice. Would definitely return. read more

I love Shane Co. I got my engagement ring from the Cupertino location and have always been so happy with it. Naturally, when it came time to choose a wedding band, we went back to Shane Co. While wedding dress shopping nearby, we decided to check out the San Mateo location. I didn't find anything in-store, but the consultant helped me order two identical rings online (out of the last four left company-wide) and had them shipped to San Mateo. The rings arrived a few days later and we purchased them. That's when the rollercoaster began. We wanted the wedding bands turned into a ring guard for my engagement ring, so I left my engagement ring with them. When we came back a week later, all three rings had been soldered together. My heart dropped. To their credit, the staff and manager immediately apologized and offered to create the guard free of charge. They also promised it would be ready the next day. From there, communication was rocky. I never received text updates and had to call in myself. When we picked up the rings, they weren't soldered anymore, but the guards weren't aligned and there was a new ding on my engagement ring. The team reassured me it would be fixed under warranty. They asked me to come back on Saturday, promising a quick 20-minute fix, this was on Wednesday. But, when I returned on Saturday I was told it would take a week... After some back-and-forth, it was suddenly "30 minutes." We left for lunch, came back, and sure enough the ring was done, except now there was a ding on the prongs that hadn't been there before. Even the consultant noticed the fitment wasn't right. The jeweler finally confirmed the fit wasn't correctly made originally. At the end of it all, the rings are now perfect, and I'm thrilled with how they turned out. But it took a lot of stress, patience, and follow-up to get here. I do appreciate that Shane Co. stood by their warranty, and ultimately delivered a beautiful result. I just wish the process had been smoother from the start. read more

Shane co was recommended to me by a friend who got her wedding band here - after pregnancy she had to resize and had a great experience getting that done. The location was very spacious and not too busy on a weekend afternoon, so we didn't feel rushed or stressed at all throughout the process. We were helped by Kataneh, who was very patient and helpful for my wedding band needs since I had a lot of requirements based on my engagement ring. She brought out a bunch of different bands that would go with my ring. In the end, they were able to customize a thin spacer band attached to the wedding band for me that fit perfectly with my engagement ring. We only had to wait one week for pickup too! I also easily found some nice pearl earrings for Mother's Day, and Kataneh was very thorough with explaining the recommended cleaning schedule for them too. The prices are extremely reasonable, especially considering their lifetime warranty and free cleanings! The foyer also has nespresso and water to sip on. I was a halo pear lab diamond 1 carat and he liked the sapphire white gold ring. We looked at 2-3 other places and nobody was willing to resize for us in a short amount of time. For the longest time, I've been looking for a piece of tri-colored gold jewelry, but haven't been successful in finding something I like at my usual places. So when I heard the Shane Co. ad on the radio for the 50th time, I felt compelled to check out their website. To my surprise, they carry a ton of rose gold items in a variety of jewelry styles. And when the hubby offered to get me something for Xmas, we decided to stop by Shane's. During Covid they limit capacity so I had to wait a little before they would let us in. Upon entering, they take your temperature, ask you to sanitize your hands and offer gloves. They also have plexiglass dividers everywhere to really enforce distancing. Two thumbs up for that! Joumana was our sales associate. I instantly liked her personality and felt like I was shopping with a friend and not a sales associate who was trying to sell me on things I didn't want. We managed to find 3 separate rings that worked all together as a set or as separate items. They offer complimentary resizing, and I was able to get my babies about 1 week later (very reasonable). We walked into the Shane Co. in San Mateo on New Year's Eve and were immediately greeted with a warm smile from Amanda. I really felt like I made a ton of progress narrowing down on the ring I want. I have a specific timeline so I was very glad to have made this much progress. Amanda was also lovely. She was very patient with letting me try on different sizes for both the diamond and the band. This is something I couldn't rly do in other stores because 1. The other stores didnt have a wide selection and 2. I did not feel comfortable enough with the rep in other stores. We spent 3 hours here and felt this was a great experience.
