Went to Shanes last night about 630pm, place was pretty empty there was about 6 people sitting at tables and no one else waiting in line. I had to wait for the Manger who was on the phone letting a member of staff know it was slow and not to come in. Once he finished the call I was greeted friendly. Started to make my order and mentioned the Groupon and was promptly told that the terms and conditions of the Groupon state no holidays. It was Valentines day. I asked when that became a holiday as the financial institutions and government employees all had to work. The Manager said Shanes sees this as a holiday as its on their calendar. To that I had a highlighted Groupon conditions thrust in my face. Well their terms and conditions state cannot be used on holidays. So I said it just says holidays and I asked again when did Valentines day become a holiday everyone had to work today. I cannot believe I was not the first this manager had to explain this today as he was clearly frustrated and replied with even less tact than before. Shanes see this as a holiday as it is on our calendar again thrusting the terms and conditions at me. No apology, no tact, just plain we dont want your business attitude. If any company hides behind terms and conditions rather than customer service that's a bad sign right there. At this point I said maybe Shanes should list the days it considers holidays on the terms and conditions so the rest of us understand. Seriously, my calendar lists St Patricks day, Bastile Day, Ramadan, Mexican Independence day, Kwanzaa, Passover, Channukah, Grandparents day there is always something listed on a calendar, not all are classified as 'holidays'. First time there to eat. The cashier was very nice. However, I was VERY, disappointed in my chicken sandwich. I thought it would be shredded chicken, but it was big clumps of it which was very dry and tasteless and hard to chew. I added a lot of extra bbq sauce just to get it down because I was so hungry. I had a salad as a side dish, it was okay, mainly lettuce, one tomatoe and two pieces of cucumber, a very little cheese. So many good things where do I begin. We had a reservation for 11 (they don't usually take reservations). We went in and checked early in the day to make sure all was well. When we returned the waitress recognized us and came outside to get us as we were in line. She sat us immediately. She took our order and got our drinks. When we ordered our food she explained and answered questions. The food came out quickly. The have a variety of flavors of sauces to choose from and everything was very tasty. Alejandra was our server and she did an amazing job from start to finish. She refilled drinks and cleared dishes immediately. She was super friendly and very personable. Good, quick BBQ Even though it's something of a BBQ fast food place, I like Shane's. The half-slab is a lot of food and two of their sauces are yummers. The meat doesn't have as much smoke favor, but is tasty and not fatty like some places. One cool aspect of Shane's is they have a number of options that appeal to our kiddos. They usually go for the breaded chicken tenders, but can also go for a simple cheeseburger or the Mac n' Cheese. Their pulled pork sandwich gets pretty good comments, as well. And my wife loves sweet tea, so it works that they have that. You can come across a person at the register who will not wow you. On balance though, service staff are usually cool. The ribs ... omg you have to try them. I went here for dinner looking for something filling. This did not disappoint. I ended up getting the sampler, which was delicious. The citrus chipotle bbq sauce had an amazing flavor and good kick to it. The sampler came with ribs, chicken tenders, pulled pork or chicken, and two sides, which I chose mac and cheese and sweet potato fries. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone good. Very tender and flavorful. The chicken tenders had an amazing crust to them that went well with the sauce. You can choose to have the tenders mixed with the sauce or on the side. The pulled chicken was just okay, could have been a little more flavored and not as doused in sauce. Overall, it was good. Over all: Good service Family atmosphere Tasty food I finally had the time to stand in Shane's ever-present line from outside. I was excited to see what all the hype was all about! I was friendly greeted by the cashier who was very helpful with giving my group recommendations on what to order. After just a few minutes wait, we took the food to go and eat outside. It was HOT to the touch and messy--everything you expect from barbecue. The portion sizes we're good and priced reasonably. SUMMARY - Crok-Pot tasting bbq, overpriced and more expensive if ordering online. I was in the mood for some bbq, specifically some brisket. I have been to Shane's many years ago and I could not remember what I had try and if I liked it(strange), most likely because it wasn't memorable. So I decided to give it a try. I tried the night before but it had a 1 hour wait on food so I assumed it must be worth it and came back the next day. I ordered using their online service unbeknownst to me that their prices are higher online. When I got there I mentioned to the manager that I was charged more and he didn't really care just told me online is more expensive. To summarize the brisket tasted as if someone had cooked it in a crockpot with bbq sauce. It was bad. Overcooked, lacked smoke and salt. Paid $9.91 for 1/2 LB of bad brisket and two slices of bread. By this time we were both irritated at the experience thus far. We got to-go boxes so we could heat it up at home. What I tasted was delicious but wanted to eat it hot. All in all I think this place has the potential to be awesome. I understand a place being busy and all that but greeting a customer shouldn't be a hard thing. This is my first ever review, I had to create an account because I was so incredibly upset with the customer service from this establishment. First, when trying to order online, their menu is missing multiple items and when trying to call this particular location, the people who answered the phone did not have any solution and would not take any orders over the phone Second, and my largest complaint, when going to order in store, upon the completion of my order they showed me the ticket and they had gotten my order wrong. I know I had ordered this specific item on their menu because this was the item not located on their online menu and I had specifically come into the store to order this item. When the lady who took my order came out, I informed her that she had got my order wrong. The worker replied with, "That's okay, we'll replace the order, but you DID order this." The implication being that I didn't know what I ordered. She then proceeded to mutter something under her breath and spun back around. Then multiple managers had to come to to fix the order on their machine. Not one of them came to apologize or ask if there was anything else they could do. The manager was a sweetheart but he needs to fire those useless servers. Theres one young lady with reddish pink hair and she frowns at everyone. Went here tonight for the first time, place was packed, figured it must be good. Absolutely inedible! Who taught these people how to do BBQ... I'll tell you who, NO ONE! The ribs, which were so overcooked the first bite cut the gums of my mouth, were also gross. The mac and cheese is just flavorless, the chicken is chopped chicken, not a whole piece and it taste like sugar. The original and spicy BBQ sauces were disgusting. The peach cobbler had 3 peaches, for the large size, and it had no flavor. There are these spices, called nutmeg, cinnamon, and something called brown sugar that you can use to make cobbler, ya outta try it sometime. Chicken tenders were burned. This wasn't a case of a bad batch, these folks truly cannot cook. Which once again, proves my theory that Arizonian's will eat anything and say it's good. Don't waste your time or money. I was attending an event close by and at the council of my associates we decided on this place. The experience started on the wrong foot as it took forever just to order the food. The woman at the register was kind and helpful, nonetheless. The food is where this place falls short. The half chicken was actually very good. That alone I would give a 4/5. The mac & cheese wasn't terrible but subpar. But the ultimate disappointment was the brisket. I ordered the 2 meat meal and even paid extra for it. It looked like pulled pork and was by far worst brisket I've had. To be honest, I had never had a bad brisket until this. Total Disaster - Avoid this place... I ordered on their app which crashed several times in the middle of a large order and each time I rebooted it and I had to start the order over. I ordered a large lunch ($243) for one of my clients (doctor's office). The order was for a 11:45am pick up so I could get it hot to my clients by 12:00pm lunch. I called 20 minutes ahead of time to confirm my arrival and pick up time. I was told they were out of the cookies I ordered and they would substitute them. I agreed as long as the substitute was individually packaged and the same number of deserts (Doctor's Offices do no allow shared dishes based on COVID). Once I got there the nice guy (young guy with two earrings told me he found the cookies and all was well, but they were running late and it would be 12:15. I explained it would be too late and politely asked if there was anything he could do to speed up the process. He went in back and the OWNER barked out that I should have added my phone number to the order.... Guess what genius - the app does not ask for a phone number and I called 20 minutes prior to arriving. He also yelled out that I could go to another restaurant... THE OWNER!!! I am sorry your ordering systems sucks and you cannot keep up, but I followed up on every process your restaurant dictates to ensure a smooth transaction and also called ahead. Since I found myself with some extra time standing around waiting for the late order, I asked the nice guy behind the counter to scan my receipt in to collect my earned points as their APP suggested. Guess what - my receipt did not have the required bar code printed on it and there was nothing they could do scan my receipts for the points either. The order was finally completed 25 minutes late and made me look like a fool. When we opened it up at the doctors office the cookies were missing for 6 people and instead they added 2 cobblers - which left 4 people without dessert. I called on way back to my office and they explained they gave the cookies to another order. I explained they told me that they told my my order would contain the cookies while I was standing there. They did not care... no apologies. Here is the the thing... I have several reps in the field and they take food to doctor's offices every day a part of marketing the office. Shane's Rib Shack made my company and me look like a fool with the late delivery and not listening to me regarding the requirement for the order's individual packaging requirements... and shorting me 4 deserts. I instructed my reps in the area to NEVER USE THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN!!!! If I see it on their expense report, I will not approve the expense!! I would have given them a second chance if it were not for the Owner being an unwarranted asshole to his customers ordering large orders!!!! Just okay - we got chicken tenders, 10 wings, pulled pork, and a chicken wrap and the total was over $50 for takeout. The pulled pork was alright, nothing special, the tenders were pretty good, the wings were not crispy (even though they were supposed to be), the chicken wrap was decent, the Mac and cheese was bland (but creamy), and the fries (both regular and sweet potato) were limp. They forgot the drinks that were supposed to come with the kids meal and the wrap combo. There was a line out the door and a full house inside, so maybe it was an off night, or maybe I'm just pickier about my bbq. The next bite I tried the Mustard BBQ sauce...that one had some good flavor to it and added to the meal, so I used it for the remainder of the meal. The Big Dad comes with Texas Toast as the bread for the Sandwich and it helped hold it together well. Overall, it was average. Generic chain "BBQ" that really doesn't deserve to be called that. It's not awful, just fails to be great in any particular way. Pretty much zero smoke flavor, and they doused it some sort of grease sauce before serving it to us. BBQ is served as-is, and the eater gets to choose what, if anything, to put on it. I have added this place to my 'NEVER EAT AGAIN' bookmark list. I have been here twice and I've had the exact same expense I am done! I ordered and paid online they gave me a time to be done and I arrive and have to wait 15 minutes for my burger to be cooked. Then it was $10 for a burger with no fries and they don't pay attention to customization (first visit) they added cheese even though I specified no cheese. I didn't care for the service. The staff was not very engaging. The burger was for my husband and he said it was okay, but Johnny Rockets is better and it come with fries and it's ready when they say it's ready. Came here because my FIL was set on coming here because of past visits here when he would come to AZ. We ordered to go so I don't have much to say about dining in. Right now because of COVID-19 protocols, there were a lot of tables unavailable, but people were dining inside as well as outside. The BBQ sample plate (my husband & FIL got) we really good! Ribs tasted great and so did the pulled pork. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich, eh good but not great. Too heavy on the seasoning. The service was mediocre. Hours after our meal my husband and I are still talking about Shane s bbq, and not for a good reason. The fried okra and beans were good, also the regular sweet tea. But it was down hill after that. The ribs tasted like they'd been made days before, but without anything resembling smoke flavor, or any other flavor for that matter.
