The service was good. They greeted me when I came in. Now I'm so upset . The ONLY Reason why I come to any of these establishments. They make their Cold Slaw with CARROTS............... I threw this in the trash can... I know the franchises have different owners. I thought that they keep the same recipe? Something told me to keep going but I had to stop. This place came as a recommendation from our rental car rep at the airport. We were ravenous after flying into Savannah and wanted to grab a hearty lunch before our drive an hour away. Located in a large shopping center, Shane's is situated in a corner with ample parking. We came in when they'd just opened for the afternoon and our cashier was so sweet and patient. We asked for her recommendations and ended up with a filling lunch. Our 3YO loved the Mac and Cheese & was treated by our food runner with some ice cream. The restaurant is a local favorite and family owned. They are very active in the community and known for fundraising opportunities. The food was delicious and I swear we gained 5 pounds each. We settled into loaded buffalo chicken fries and 2 plates. There was an assortment of hot sauces and homemade bbq sauces. I loved that they had a sink available to patrons (bbq gets messy) as well as a to-go station to pack up any extras you may need (utensils, sauces, wipes, & takeout boxes). The staff was great and super friendly. And we were presented with house made peach cobblers.... Probably the best I have ever had! We asked for 1 extra to go! I forgot how blah there food is and have been going here for years just to get the cobbler and now I remember why. Got the chicken and rib platter today and the chicken was tasteless and the ribs had no flavor. Their only saving grace is the bbq sauce which you can slather on anything and it will taste better and salvage your meal. Alright, so maybe I was just really hungry. Maybe it was because I got lucky and got them on a good day. But I really enjoyed my meal here. Granted, it's a business that runs along the same vein as a Dickey's; however, I can't stand Dickey's. My experiences with that chain here in S.A. a few years back is the reason why I refuse to return. So allow me to switch gears and come back to the review on Shane's. My family had told me they really enjoy Shane's and were determined to take me out here on my last visit. And that they did. Now my mom being the person that she is decided for me what I should get. From there, my only choice was my drink and whether or not I wanted chicken or pork. And of course, as I was trying to decide, she kept saying 'pork' in my ear. LOL I love that woman, I swear. I went against the grain and ordered chicken. She ordered the sampler for me which consisted of ribs, chicken strips, two sides, and pork or chicken (as I just mentioned). Oh and toast. I should have listened to her when she insisted on the pork because the chicken was a little dry. Everything else though was so good. The meat was fall-off-the-bone and seasoned well, the chicken strips were fried fresh and went well with their homemade sauces. As for the sides, I ordered green beans and fries. I enjoyed the green beans immensely. Granted, I have considered myself a Texan since I don't know when (California transplant though) and I am fully aware of 1. there are different regions and flavors of BBQ 2. I have always preferred Texas BBQ and 3. this is a chain. So I tried not to go in with any expectations and I suppose it worked for me. It was good for what it was - fast food BBQ. OK BBQ. Unfortunately is completely overshadowed by the deplorable SERVICE staff. Regardless of the time or day I have visited, the staff is always apathetic and often times has to be prodded to get the order to the table. They have NEVER checked back on the table and seem put out when you ask them to take your order if they're busy cleaning or just loitering in the kitchen - at least they're Cleaning I suppose. In fact, I'm sitting here now waiting for just an order of peach cobbler. I've sat here for 10 minutes for an item that has to simply be scooped up and placed in a styrofoam Container. There is one other guest dining and two people waiting to have their order taken while the hostess is shuffling boxes around behind the counter. On multiple Occasions I've placed a ToGo order at least 20 minutes before arriving just to get here and pay and have to wait at least another 20 minutes Management needs to take note of similar reviews and do some serious staff training. What is the point of giving a table a number if all parties in the group don't get their food at the same time? Only had three in our party for lunch today and my meal took over 42 mins to get. By then, my lunch mates were done with their meals. I didn't order the burger which We already know takes forever. I did order 4 chicken tenders, side salad, cobbler, and drink. And around ten customers that ordered after me received their food before me. And when I asked the food delivery guy why was mine so late he actually said they had to put the side salad together. A salad that just has to be assembled (not cooked) is the cause for the huge delay? How about just simply owning up to the mistake, apologizing, and moving on? To me it's more sincere when you say you screwed up and commit to doing better next time. And maybe even offer something to soften the blow. Lying to your face directly is just not acceptable. There are so many places to eat. In the meantime, there are other food establishments that will earn my business and I intend to share my personal Shane's experience with others when asked. read more

I'm a usual customer and just experienced my worst visit to Shane's in Pooler, Ga. I ordered a half rack with mac and cheese for takeout. Once at home and prepared to eat the Ribs were tough to chew and I had to apply man strength to pull apart. I very rarely return food; however, I was hungry, and this was a little too much bad service. At the restaurant I was informed that they do not have a refund or return policy. As a customer, how do I not have the option to get a refund for a bad product. I was offered replacement food, which I declined. Then I was convinced to get something else in replacement. I picked the smoked wings. As I waited, the frustration of the circumstances led me to leave without food or refund. I'm hungry, frustrated, disappointed, and done with Shane's. Everything was phenomenal. I actually had a few more drivers than I expected, so I called last minute to see if they could add more bbq to the order and Lisa hooked it up. I watched two tables receive their food before me that entered and ordered a good ten minutes before me. I ordered the regular half chicken with Brunswick stew and a side salad. We finally asked about my food and was told there was a mix up in the kitchen. Ummm I'm thinking no one bothered to make it. I am still waiting on a chicken while my mom and sister have finished their meal. We were comped a peach cobbler because they didn't make my food. A poor experience was turned into a great one. Long story short the owner of this location and the brand really value their customers and they want the experience to be a good one. Some of the associates at the store don't reflect that mission but their working on it. I've eaten there 3 times now and each time the food was excellent. What a disappointment. I LOVE good BBQ and spent the last 12 years eating a lot of Carolina BBQ. This is FAR from it. I had the sampler plate which included pulled pork, ribs, chicken strips, and 2 side (fries and baked beans). Where do I start? The pulled pork was beyond dry and most of it looked like ground jerky with the same texture. There was not enough sauce to moisten it up. The few pieces that were not dried out wasn't too bad, but still rather bland. And speaking of dry, how does one make "dry" deep fried chicken strips? Not sure, but they managed to do it. I will give them a little bit of credit and say that the ribs ,while small, were rather good for a fast food chain. On to the sides, certainly one cannot mess up fries right? Wrong; the fries were soggy and dripping cold oil. I assume the oil was not hot enough when they cooked them because the fries just soaked up the oil. Chalk that up to another loss. Now on to the baked beans. Those were actually the best part of the meal. They were pretty good and had chunks of peppers and onions to give them some flavor. I offer up 2 stars for the decent ribs and beans and because they serve Coke products. I can't stand Pepsi, but I will never lower a rating based on Coke vs Pepsi. The staff that was on the floor were of the fast food quality, with one doing the majority of the work and the other chatting with a customer at a booth. Was hoping for some good BBQ, but I will have to look elsewhere. Now on to grab some ice cream from Marble Slab to see if I can get the coating if oil out of my mouth from those fries. read more
