AVOID at all COSTS Sean with "Shanko Moving/House Cleaning/junk removal" In my personal opinion and experience with this move, I find him incompetent, rude, and conniving aspects to avoid when you look for someone to do business with 55 yrs old, lived a long life and never have experienced such a poor service.. I should have did my due diligence and checked reviews before I hired "Shanko Moving/House Cleaning/junk removal" I am sure Sean will back track, argue and negate all the points I'm going to make in this review, but Im the customer and my experience I was a CSR for over 30 years and believe in paying it forward when appropriate when I receive good service making it known to others of my positive experience and being an "Empath" I believe in putting myself in others' shoes and worry they will have the same experience or WORSE and experience the horrid treatment as I had with this company I take the blame for not asking for a quote for this move and didn't have a timeline, that is my fault and take the blame for that and I believe and again, in my opinion, I find Sean took advantage of this oversight and took advantage of it to his advantage, I find him a very intelligent person It took 7 hours for 3 movers (Sean inclusive) to move a 650 sqft apartment 95% of the items packed, only big items were a sofa, loveseat, and queen size bed and frame, due to being severely disabled and no one to help me, Sean did offer to help, but at a price, that I will mention later. Yes, the elevator was about 125ft away from the apartment that is no excuse (I'm sure Sean will comment on, maybe over-dramatize it, based on previous reviews) I feel the movers "dragged their feet" by HEAVILY wrapping my items, which the majority were junk ie an 80s loveseat that did not need to be wrapped, the sofa and lift chair, and the TV is understandable, TV being the only valid item to use care with They also disassembled my Queen size frame, instead of moving it out as a whole.. This move took over 7 hours to complete, with Sean leaving for 2 hours during the move Received quotes of around $650 informing the length of travel from my apartment to the elevator as well as a video of all the items to be moved, one I wish I performed with Shanko Moving/House Cleaning/junk removal to avoid this charge of $1200.00 after Sean gave me a discount of $200.00 leaving me with $85.00 in the bank, forgot to mention I am disabled on a fixed income.In my apartment i noticed shelving was not installed in the laundry room, before Sean asked Sean (Verbally, again a mistake) if he could add installing shelving, in part of the money im paying you, he said "sure" after a month of excuses "i lost my phone" etc he never perfomred this job as he promised. Based on this experince, and not performing the shevling ( eneded up doing myself being disabled took me 3 days and contracted the Flu-A, almost landing me in the hospital) I tried to resove this whole matter by asking for a partial refund of $150.00 to cover the cost of installing the shevles as it would have cost me more than $200 i thought asking $150 would be fair to resolve this matter, but didnt I just received a long tirade text that was laced with anger and theats of legal action This review is based solely on my personal experience with Shanko Moving/House Cleaning/junk removal. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!PLEASE READ QUOTE: 5 hours (8AM-1PM) In total in took 3 movers 10 hours to load up a 2 bedroom apartment and move in 40% of the stuff into the new apartment and would need to come back two days later to finish the job. (QUOTE WAS 5 HOURS) It then took them 3 and half hours on Sunday to finish the job. In total it took them 13.5 hours to complete a move from a 2 bedroom apartment to a new 2 bedroom apartment in the SAME COMPLEX. Amateur company. Will smile to your face, under quote you so it sounds affordable, take lots of break and then take your money. Again stay away. In depth summary below: Sean and his company were helping my neighbor move and I noticed they had arrived at 8AM, so I went about my work day and around 2PM I texted my neighbor to ask how far along the movers were to see if I could help (assuming that there would not be much work left) and they had just finished loading up around 1:30!!! So over five hours for the load up which would be understandable for a 4 bedroom house but for a 2 bedroom apartment that is a little excessive. After hearing that from her I offered my help since it was a slow day at work for me. When I got there I introduced my self to Sean and his two other movers (can't remember their names). They were grateful for the help and I started to move stuff along with them. I was able to help for about an hour or so before I had to go take a work call. Left for the call and returned about an hour later and they had stopped moving stuff into the apartment and were putting it into a garage on the first floor rather than in the apartment in the third floor because the move was taking them longer than expected so they were going to return on Sunday (two days later) to finish the job. During the move one of the other guys had assembled my neighbors dining room table and tightened the screws way to hard causing the screw to breach the top part of the table in a few different spots and ruined the table. My neighbor brought this up and talked with Sean about it and he said he would bring his furniture guy over on Sunday when they returned to finish the move to repair it. THE NAIL IN THE COFFIN. When my neighbor texts me telling me that Sean is now denying that it was his guy that damaged the table by over tightening the screws and is instead blaming me or the other neighbor that was helping out because they were taking so long. He swears that he could take a lie detector and it was not his guys. I was helping my neighbor out not being paid like the movers were so why would I be assembling furniture and for him to just flat out deny it and blame it on me or the other neighbor that helped is insane. Sean and his crew were extremely slow and took many breaks and had no sense of team work which also contributed to it taking 13.5 hours. read more

DO NOT USE. The service promised versus what was delivered was night and day. These guys are a joke and a nightmare. My first clue should have been when they showed up in a Penske rental truck and not their own branded truck. They began my move from a 2-bedroom apartment to another 2 bedroom in the same complex at 8am on Friday and at 6pm, they still were not finished. They were tired and would need to come back on Sunday to finish. My neighbors and son had to come help as they were so slow. They could not carry up some of my furniture because it was too heavy. They were on their phones the whole time and took multiple smoke breaks. They ruined my dining table and are trying to blame my neighbors for their mistake. While he was still at my place, Sean said he would send his furniture guy and make it right and that he would haul off all their trash. The furniture guy never came and now Sean is blaming me for his crew's mistakes. He does not take responsibility for his mistakes and is trying to take advantage of me as a female. He is a con man and a liar, and I do not use these terms lightly. I will be reporting to the BBB. I have never written a bad review, but I cannot in good conscience not share my HORRIBLE experience with Sean and Shanko movers. I wish i had read Joe Q's review before I hired them as my experience was very similar to his. DO NOT USE. I'd give these guys 100 star rating if I could, Sean and his crew were unbelievable! They were hard at it ALL day long, and smiling to the very end. Super careful with all of our stuff, every one of his guys truly cared and were jovial and conversational the whole time. I couldn't be happier with the quality and efficiency of our move. Incredible attention to detail and the first time that I have successfully moved without any damages due to lack of care.
