FABULOUS butcher with pristine poultry that's about as good as it gets. The chicken breasts, stuffed chicken breasts with Asiago and asparagus, 4 cheese stuffed chicken breasts, Cornish hens, the carrot soup, oh my! The selection is tremendous and the temptations go on for miles. My only reason for 4 and not 5 stars is the absence of an option for organic, free range meats and poultry. That said, prices are very fair and competitive, while the quality is great. The deli is now part of the butcher shop by separation of rooms, so the aroma of shrimp po boy wraps filled the air. YUM! Warm, succulent shrimp with a sauce with a slight kick and fresh veggies Had to have 1 to go with the pasta salad with a hint of gardenara and curry and cucumber that was just delightful! read more

I'm new to the area, just moved here from NYC. I like to buy from butchers instead of the grocery store you get a better quality of meat most of the time. When I went in I was impressed by the selection, but not by the prices. Most of the meat is 50-80% more then buying at the Jewel. I expected for the price they were asking for the items to be organic, grass feed free roaming, but I was told it was not. Do not know how they justify the price for regular meat. read more

It's been said already but seriously, a review of Shannon's wouldn't be complete without mentioning the marinated hanger steak so let me just get that out of the way right now - it's flat out awesome but is best, in my opinion, grilled so we might not be purchasing it as much in the coming winter months. OK, moving on.... I've easily been here at least 7-8 times since they re-opened for business in May '11 and haven't made a bad purchase yet. The cranberry chicken sausage "brats" are a favorite here - they're not too sweet and always very moist inside, even after sitting out on the grill just a little too long one evening. The twice baked stuffed potatoes make an amazing (and indulgent) side to any of their beef cuts - highly recommend them with the blue cheese or jalapeno & cheese burgers. The staff is pretty great too! They're really good at making suggestions about how to cook or prep the meats and have even provided me with a recipe or too. They occasionally throw in an extra little something something when I place a big order or a cookie when I brought my friend's 4 year old daughter with me one time. It doesn't hurt that they also support Magnificent Mutt's, a local animal shelter where I adopted my dog. It's that kind of service, kindness and focus on the community along with the quality meats that will keep me coming back vs going to any of the area grocers. read more

Ohmygod-ohmygod-ohmygod! I'm so excited! Clancy's is wonderful! They have a seriously great selection of freshly cut meats, from big thick steaks to specialty burgers to stuffed chicken breasts. So far we've tried the chopped salad, tortilla crusted tilapia, and several burgers. All are simply fantastic. I was especially impressed by the chopped salad. I'm not at all a fan of lettuce, but this salad was chock full of tastiness and the delicious was delicious. And it's CHEAP! Not Aldi cheap or anything, but cheap for the excellent quality. The gigantic 1/3-lb. jalapeno salsa burger is $1.40. The chopped salad, which is generous for two people and reasonable for three, is $5.99. Clancy's is like Mike's Meat Market's practical nephew. I will be spending a lot of money here, especially if they decide to add more side dishes. It can be hard to snag one of the parking spaces on Park Ave - don't worry though, there's plenty of spaces within a block if you go west along the tracks or just park on St. Charles. read more

Great meats and super helpful owners/employees. Bonus points for the following: My dad had bought me a gift certificate a while back, and I finally went to use it. I brought the gift certificate with me, and I brought my dog in the car as well. On the way to Shannon's, I stopped for gas. In the short time I was in the gas station and pumping the gas, my little boston terrier got hold of the gift certificate and ripped it all up. Just had an awesome brat there. They apparently make them in house. The brat had a thin casing, not fatty at all, the sauerkraut was light and a touch sweet, and tied together with a subtle but tasty german mustard. Out Standing! Thanks. read more

My husband and I are SO EXCITED to have this place within walking distance - we've been going for several years now. The sandwiches at the deli are amazing (favorites are the Tuna Salad and The Smoked), but honestly? We've never had a bad sandwich. The portions are large, so we usually split a sandwich and soup (which is also excellent). If the orzo salad is available for the side, give that a try. It's DELICIOUS. The butcher shop is great too. LOVE the hangar steak. Loved it more when it first started out and was dirt cheap, but it's still well worth the price. I personally wish they had more locally farmed options so that I could ensure that the animals are humanely raised. That's a big deal for me, otherwise I am sure I would purchase more meats here, because the quality is great. Happy that they are in the process of expanding the dining room because they are ALWAY crowded. Give it a try - you really can't go wrong. If you've never seen the documentary "Food, Inc." watch it, and then when you feel the urge to buy meat locally, go here. They have fresh steaks, ground beef, chicken, etc. and then they have specialty stuff like stuffed chicken breasts, specialty burgers, sausages, and on and on. The people here are always friendly, their meat is from local sources and, well, it just tastes better. read more

I am a more regular customer at the Deli but decided to give the Butcher Shoppe a try a month or so ago and was very happy with the friendly and helpful service. I was planning on making Pork Carnitas and called ahead to ask what meat they recommended. I also was making Asian Pepper Steak that weekend and asked their recommendation for that too. They were very helpful, quoted me a price per pound, and were even willing to cut it up for me to make it easier- that was such a help to me! The meat was great quality and I appreciated that I could call ahead, tell them when I planned to pick it up, and it would be ready for me. While I was there I saw them making their stuffed jalapenos and so I ordered some of those too- you bake them at home- my husband LOVED them- he thought they had great flavor and kick and wants to have them again. Nice local butcher. The place is geared towards people who want to grab something for dinner the same night. Lots of marinated, stuffed and premade items. They are always ready with cooking tips on the meats. Super nice staff. The twice baked potatoes are fantastic. Stuffed chicken breasts are very good and ready to just pop in the oven for a nice supper that looks like you spend serious time in the kitchen. I also like the beef welingtons and stuffed red peppers. After a long work day it is nice to have a place to get quality prepared meats for a great dinner with little work. read more

Many times I have gotten off the train and stopped at Shannon's. Great large selection of sandwiches and every soup I have tried is wonderful. My absolute favorite is their chicken salad. My kids love all their desserts after making it a point to try each and every one. Deli type sandwiches or burgers and fantastic fries. Plus friendly staff who always remembers your name or maybe I just visit too often? You can even do wine or beer. Lent season rings fish fry to the Friday specials. Order in or call ahead. Try both to see what works best but do visit often! read more

Consistent quality meat. However, I occasionally arrive to find that nobody is manning the butcher shop. I guess I am supposed to walk through to the deli and find somebody to help me, but that's pretty irritating from a customer's point of view. I don't care to chase somebody down just to pay them. The hanger steak is amazing along with all of the other steaks. The stuffed chicken parm and twice baked potatoes make a great dinner.

I went by there and got some hanger steaks to cook on the grill. It was AMAZING!!!! The lady working there was super nice as well! I blundered into Shannon's a few days ago for lunch with a friend and we thought that we would try it. Best decision of the day (maybe of the year). We got lunch at Shannon's and it was marvelous. In fact, it was so good that I got dinner to go home as well. Very tasty and hearty and the portions are quite large for most things. I've had the Italian salad (lunch) and the chopped salad and meat loaf (to go for dinner). The salads and sandwiches are very tasty, good sized and hearty. My friend had soup and a 1/2 sandwich which he said were great. He was so happy that he bought both of us a delicious cannoli for desert. I don't know where I put it, but I ate it! The dining area is a bit on the noisy side. There is nothing soft to muffle voices (carpeting, drapes, etc). There was a large group chatting up a storm in the main dining area though. One person commented negatively on parking. While it is true that it's on a tight one block long street without a dedicated parking lot, there is ample parking within up to 1 or 2 blocks (Doesn't anyone walk any more? Come on you soft suburbanites). and parking turns over fairly quickly on the block that it is on. read more

Shannon's is great. I have extensive meat related needs because I am a slob. I recently bought a smoker and this has expanded my meaty needs. I used to go to a FANTASTIC German butcher in the NW suburbs, but the pricing there is outrageous. Shannon's is my goto butcher for briskets, pork shoulders, etc. the stores never have brisket and the pork shoulders are just sad looking at jewel. Shannon's has hugetastic briskets that just make me happy :) Bonus points: I need to pick an order on Monday (the only day they're closed) and they will still have my order available at the deli they also own right down the street. Shannon's is great! It's so nice to have a local butcher in downtown Lombard, right next to the train station. I ordered our Xmas dinner pork roast here - was two large cuts, and they did a super job. Friendly service, everything prepped and ready to go right on time and best of all, a great cut of meat. I read a review that the meat was the same quality as Jewel. I'm not sure that's true, but even if it is I still think this place should get some good marks. First, their selection is far superior. Second, the staff was super helpful. I needed some beef brisket, they were out and were able to get it to me in a day. My one issue was the parking. While there isn't much the shop can do about that, it is annoying to have to try and find a spot to park. Overall though if you are looking for a wide selection of quality meat perhaps even something they don't have in stock, this is a good place to go. read more

Everything here is excellent, right down to the double baked spuds and potato salad. The meat is exceptional and the prices are very reasonable. It's really convenient for me at least. I've been able to shop there after church on Sundays to gather what I need for a meal I can fix myself without anyone else's help. That's saying something. read more

This place was great when it opened, but it sucks now. The meat case is nearly always empty, the freezer case is gone, the owner is never there (the previous owners were there all the time), and the "help" isn't very helpful. I was so excited when this opened, and it was great for the 1st year, but since then it has progressively gotten worse. Mikes might be more expensive, but the quality they offer blows away what Clancy's has, and their selection is SO much better. The potential is there, the execution is poor. read more

The reviews on Clancy's Corner Butcher aren't exaggerating. We're just down the road in Glen Ellyn and yet didn't know about this little gem two months ago. We're going to be regulars now. Several things stood out- I'll mention just one. We were excited to learn there was a highly rated little butcher shop nearby (Wheaton Meats isn't comparable quality). We picked up a couple things and the owners wife threw in a strip of the hanging tenders. I'll remember that for a long time. Not only was the meat ridiculously delicious, but it is priced very reasonably (my family is on a tight budget). And on top of that we felt the friendliness of an old time neighborhood shop. My dad worked as a butcher as a young man on Chicago's North Side in the 50's- this place feels to me like the old time mom and pop shops. And on top of it you get a superior product at a price that an average family can afford. The hanging tenders are a must. The Black Forest Top Sirloin is very very good. The Parmesan Chicken is delicious as well. This place is worth the drive if you're in the Western Suburbs. read more

Being new to the area, my boyfriend and I have tried a few new places downtown and Shannon's is the only place we've been to several times. We're in love with the food. Everything always seems SO fresh and everything we've tried has been delicious. The italian beef sandwich, the club sandwich, meatball sub, italian sub, pasta salad, etc etc have all been so great! AND it's extremely reasonably priced, you can get a HUGE sub sandwich, chips/fries and a drink all under $10, and you'd be extremely full if you ate it all (you can order half sandwiches if you're not starving, which is still very filling!). The owners are always very nice and welcoming and they change up the menu with the seasons so there's always something new to try! They have pre-prepared meals that you can buy/take home and put in the oven that look delicious--haven't tried these yet but I absolutely will! This place is fantastic and I have recommended it to several people already and will continue to do so and to frequent it myself! read more
