Our home is running on Control4, and while there's a bit of a learning curve at first once you start to understand what it can do it's an incredibly powerful system. Control4 essentially acts as the operating system for your home, allowing you to control lighting, audio, video, pool, climate, security, and more from one interface. So instead of juggling a dozen different random apps, Control4 integrates all of your devices and apps into a single platform so the whole house functions as one cohesive ecosystem. Ultimately, what really made the experience stand out, though, was absolutely the AHS team. Technology is only as good as the people who design and install it, and these guys were knowledgeable, patient, and clearly passionate about what they do. Install was clean, the training thorough, and they've held our hand every step of the way. Its notices went out on a landline via Spectrum. Spectrum was out so much lately, (actually constantly), our system kept notifying that it'd lost communication waking us every morning between 3 and 5 am. We did not know dropped communication was the error. ADT did not know what the error code was. We attempted to resolve the issue over a 2-3 week period with ADT, including a 45 troubleshooting time after pushing ADT's AI to get a human tech. The tech could not even find what our error code meant. He could not resolve the issue, but wanted to install a new system with all new equipment. A second ADT tech the next day had me show a pic of our control panel and she immediately looked up the error code and it was dropped communication. She too wanted to take everything out of our system and start over. The estimates for two ADT sources were off by several hundred dollars. I was told the less expensive one was not correct even though it had a price guarantee until August 28. I was fed up. I went to AI. It said pull the AC plug on the system, it tends to hang on to error cords. Thank you! That stopped the beeps. We went through one more episode with corporate ADT and ended more frustrated. I looked for top home security system installers in the Bastrop area and DT Security (Round Rock) was on top in Yelp. I called and instantly reached Danny. He took us through their whole process, including taking advantage of the well installed original sensors. We reviewed Danny's contract. Our system would still use ADT (DT Security is a licensed ADT installer). The very next afternoon DT Security's installer Angel, upgraded our system to cellular, attached all the trip circuits we had, added new equipment when necessary and was done in 3.35 hours with everything working perfectly. Angel first met with my wife Chris and I, explaining everything in detail he was going to do. He was very considerate of our time and kept us informed through out the install. This morning I had a question and sent Danny an email. He called me within an hour and walked me through something I'd missed. So no 30 minute holds on the phone, no AI to negotiate with, no being passed from tech to tech, just good solid "local" services. After dealing with ADT for weeks, this was certainly a breath of fresh air and excellent service. This was a strong reminder to deal locally.

He sent a tech and then came himself to see what the issue was. He spent well over an hour and did not charge me. In the end and after much more searching, he found the hard to get charger for our VOIP phone. Even though we had written a check for a phone, he gave us the check back and only charged us for a much cheaper charger. It was not about the money, it was about service. These guys will be the ones we call when we have any more VOIP or PC repair needs.

My video-gamer sons love being able to play games with Gigabit speeds! We have received excellent education and support along the way. They made it so that all lights, ceiling fans, and thermostats in our home could be run through Alexa, an app, or on preset schedules. This has made my life as a mom so much easier. On school days, I have our whole house scheduled to "wake-up" at a certain time so that I don't have to go to each of my four kids' rooms to wake them. "Wake-up" turns lights on, ceiling fans off, and the thermostat up a little. And a simple "Hey Alexa, turn on bedtime" turns off all lights and turns on all ceiling fans throughout the house. And when I leave my 2 story home each morning, I do not go room to room turning off the lights behind my kids. I say "Hey Alexa, turn everything off!", and she does! ACA Electronics has been great over the past few years to offer continued support, and they do a really good job of explaining things in a way that I can understand. They also wall-mounted all of our TVs. In our great room they installed a MantleMount above our fireplace. It can be lowered to a comfortable eye-level height when sitting, but raises to above the mantle when not in use. It's really tight on the wall and a very beautiful addition to our home. Throughout the whole process ACA has been great. They gave me an itemized estimate, then gave me options without overselling. During the installation they communicated well and the follow through was excellent. They kept the house clean while they were working and the final clean up was excellent too. When I say…read morefamily-owned, I mean that Mary, her husband, and their son will come to your house to install your new system. That level of family-owned. First and foremost, Mary has fantastic communication. When I initially sent my quote request, she responded quickly and thoroughly. Throughout the process, I had multiple questions (new to this), and she took the time to carefully reply to each question via email. This level of responsiveness is super important to me especially when it's a field I'm not knowledgeable in. There are a lot of moving parts when alarming a house and it was important that I understood exactly what we were getting. Her team did a great job installing our new security system. Everyone was very nice and professional. They took the time to explain everything and asked our input (regarding placement, etc.) whenever necessary. Mary carefully went through everything in the app to get me set up and familiar with the interface. They were also very respectful of our home -- offering to either remove shoes or put on their own shoe covers (we're a shoe-free household with small children so this is important to us). I also really appreciated how customizable everything was. There are so many different options that are offered with the security system (including a lot of automation like locking doors and controlling lights, etc. that we weren't actually interested in). If you're a newbie like me, I'll break down the basic security options. It helps to have some understanding of what's available before you get started. I was a little overwhelmed but Mary was helpful in answering my questions. Anyway, you've got a keypad that controls your alarm system (arm/disarm). You can do that via app (even if not home) or key fob. Then you've got your various sensors. Obviously, the door open sensors are a must. They'll trigger the alarm if someone opens the door (when armed) and is unable to enter the proper disarm code. Then you've got the option of installing window open sensors. There are also glass break sensors (generally, one per small room or two for large rooms) that will notify you if a glass break is detected (or if house is armed, set off the alarm). Finally, you've got motion sensors (these are automatically turned off when you arm your system in stay mode versus away). Assuming you'll wire the doors, you need to decide if you want glass breaks and if so, whether they will cover full home or just most vulnerable areas; if you want window sensors and if so, on all or some windows (might depend on your window type and vulnerability to window being manually opened and whether glass breaks might be sufficient); and whether you want motion sensors and which areas you want them to cover. I'd recommend doing some preliminary research/planning on how these tools might fit your home and what coverage is necessary versus overkill. It depends on your layout, etc. Next, you've got cameras. They offer WiFi-based cameras (operated through alarm.com) and standard wired cameras. Video doorbells too. We replaced our Ring with their doorbell cam to centralize our camera controls. You can have everything controlled through the alarm.com app for convenience. The app is great -- very user-friendly. Anyway, there are a lot of other options available as well that I didn't even delve into. Thought I'd share the basics to get you started. Don't hesitate to use this company! They offer free in-person consultations and fantastic service -- professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive. Oh and their rates seem reasonable and competitive. They walked us through how to operate and use the system and made sure we were comfortable with everything before they finished. We contacted them later about an issue we had with the system and they immediately helped us over the phone on what we needed to do to correct the problem. Their customer service is the worst! I had no problems whatsoever when it was FrontPoint but as…read moresoon as it changed to Alert360 things went down the hill. FrontPoint always provided the panel's battery replacement and new sensors for free, forget about it with Alert360. Whenever I tried to contact them to get assistance or to talk to a representative it took me about 30 minutes to be able to find a phone number to call them. Once I had them on the phone their assistance was of no help, some of the agents were even curt and didn't see to care about my issue. For financial reasons I had to cancel the service, last thing I remembered I was told with FrontPoint that there were no contracts and could cancel at any time without problems. Well, since moving to Alert360 it seems that one is under a contract since you have to give them 30 days notice to cancel or else you will be charged. Since I cancelled at the beginning of September they charged me for the month, ok that's fine, but I gave them my notification before October and guess what?! They went ahead and charged me for the month with no service! Ha! I called them twice to get the charge refunded (the woman that answered was pretty rude by the way), last agent I spoke to told me the refund should've been made right away on my first call! He said the refund would be posted in my back account within 5-7 days...it's already half month and no amount has been refunded so I had to dispute the charge which is still in process. Please don't trust this people and their business practices, they will screw you up any chance they get and you won't see a penny if you are asking for money back! **UPDATE: I received a call from one their representatives on October 29 telling me they had sent me a check on October 16 and I should get it shortly. Well, it is now November 7 and I still haven't received any check yet. I submitted a review at the ConsumerAffairs website and the BBB. My bank is also disputing and investigating this issue. I still don't recommend them and wouldn't go back to them even if their service was free... **UPDATE (11/22/24): The company called me to tell me that the check they had sent went back to them due to them missing to write down the apartment number (you would think they have the complete address since they're a security systems company! The irony!), fine, I gave the correct address and the agent says they'll resent the check. Next day, I received another call saying they couldn't send the check since they don't have the complete address! This company is just joking with me at this point! What type of training is the staff getting? They don't know how to write down notes in one's file??? It's ridiculous, a joke and a waste of time! My bank still dealing with the dispute (about two months ongoing now!) which they shouldn't have to...shm. I have updated every single complaint I put out there about this company (Google, Yahoo, BBB, Consumer Affairs, Yelp, etc.) so people will realize the kind of business this is and to PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AND FIND SOMETHING BETTER!

I meant to write a review the week of the install, but I wanted to see how things went before I…read moredid. So here I am now! So, this all started with a call to ADT. Yes, yes, I know they suck, but I wanted to get a baseline price from them before I started out on my own. I dont have a home phone, so I knew it would need to include the wireless portion. ADT sales people are high pressure and annoying. Besides the fact they dont know a thing about security systems. They only know sales. Anyway, they quoted me 65 a month and a required 2 years contract. I laughed.... I hung up. Next, I hit yelp and start asking around to friends. No friends had a security system installed but one and he is a DYI guy. So then I searched Yelp I found Central Security sitting quietly in the top 5 hits and figured I would give him a call. Brandon answered the phone. Nice guy. Laid back. And his website seemed to really convey his knowledge of security systems. He showed up the next day and got to work. My system was new, but the board wasn't compatible. No problem. He installed a new board for the system and updated the codes. Rerouted the system to call the monitoring company and I was done! I had some cat issues with the room sensor in the following days. Not his fault, they climb and such. Not only did he remove it and fill the wiring hole, but he also didn't charge me a thing. Only cost up front were the key fobs and wireless communication. Total per month, 30 bucks WITH wireless. No contract, just two months notice before cancelling. Great guy, excellent work. Glad to be supporting a local business instead of a mega crook like ADT. And for you girls out there, he is cute too :)
