We passed a small pop up tent with signs advertising Oxtail along the side of the road. My eyes lit up when I saw oxtail mentioned as I went without breakfast this morning..take a chance on this sidewalk vendor, or eat trash food at the airport before our flight? The choice was easy! Thankfully, a generous portion of food piled high presented itself, at fair prices too ($21 for the Oxtail plate with can soda.) Not only visually welcoming, the smell was enticing and the taste was outstanding! Plastic fork tender oxtails, the fat was rendered well and the yellow rice was drenched in the delicious Oxtail Stew. Collard Greens with plenty of vinegar tang accompanied along with a solid Mac n Cheese shell. Chef reps Louisiana heritage and it shows. He only serves Oxtail on Sunday's, so save the date if your local or visiting like us on a Sunday....might just be the highlight of your trip ;) On the corner of North 22nd & East Emma Street. Enjoy!

It's a classic casserole of garlicky oil sauce and seafood or crab over pasta. Name is believed to be a short form of "enchilado", not enchilada, but ENCHILADO, a spicy sauce with chilis. It's a traditional Tampa dish like cuban sandiwches and deviled crabs but I can't seem to get my hands on any. Next week he told me..

Joe the owner of this outside HD emprium has over thirty years experience in the food industry, but is a new comer in the hot dog business. Joe serves Sahlens natural casing hot dogs which I had never tried, but they are now on my favorites list. Sahlens are made in Buffalo NY, and Joe also introduced me to another Buffalo favorite, Loganberry drink, a blackberry-raspberry hybred, which I found very refreshing. When your in the Clearwater area stop by say hi to Joe purchase some dogs from him, you'll be glad you did, and tell him the 1999 Nation's hotdog world champion Steve "The Hotdogterminator" sent you.

Three choices of mustard? Ketchup? All three? Bring it! He also has a homemade sauce but I apparently arrived after his planned closing so he didn't have any more. Next time! He still graciously cranked the grill back on and made us the dogs! They are great! Nice char! Great flavor! Huge snap! We've never had Sahlen's hot dogs before but they originate from Buffalo apparently! I just checked and they are available in Publix as well as mail order or made to order at Thunder Dogs! Don't forget the loganberry drinks! They are tasty and originate in northern New York as well! Life is good with a tasty hot dog.

I have had the privilege to order from them a few times recently. First I experienced their famous Nattiez Pattiez. These are basically like "hot pockets for adults". They are garlic butter infused dough that is stuffed with pasta, sauce, vegan cheese and lentil crumbles. These have to be shipped overnight, so I set up a delivery time instead of paying the overnight shipping cost. It was easy to arrange a time and they were delivered right on schedule by one of the owners. Taste wise.... incredible! I loved each and ever one of the ten I ate. My next order came through the mail and featured four of their cakes in a jar. I ordered a pumpkin, carrot, Oreo and Snickerdoodle. I was blown away by the carrot and pumpkin. The others were really good too but I preferred the veggie cakes. Through their website, Vegg'd Out also offers other sweets, cookies and specials based on the season. Like right now you can get a tin of holiday cookies. All their items are vegan and some, if not all, come with the option of being infused. Looking for some great vegan items made locally by Black entrepreneurs? Give Vegg'd Out a chance.

Try the Ziondilla and you will know the truth. Lucky to have found them at a vegan food truck rally and I have happily followed them ever since. The hibiscus ginger tea is tasty, truly refreshing and pure flavor. They are honest with the ingredients list and use locally sourced organic when possible. The garlic butter mac n cheese is not what you expect it to be if you can try it DO! I have had every variation of Nattiez Pattiez and loved them all. Chef can eek out so much intense flavor! Do yourself a favor and also get a cupcake while you have the chance.
