My MIL took my daughter so I am not able to comment on the customer service but I am extremely upset about the poor quality of work. All I can say about Sharkey's is... Praise GOD, HALLELUJAH, and thank you Lord JESUS for the miracle workers at Sharkey's! My 1.5 year old son hates getting his hair cut. Hell, he hates when I even brush his hair! He's brought weaker, less skilled hairstylists to their knees with his explosive tantrums... but not Sharonda. Sharonda is a veteran hair stylist, a warrior sent from Christ Himself, to come and tame my devil child's wild mane. Seriously though, she's an absolute angel. When my boy is having a full out cry-fest, Sharonda is not phased one bit. She's calm, collected, super fast, and gives a bad ass cut (even when my boy is spinning his head around like he's possessed). It also helps that Sharkey's has every trick up its sleeve to try and appease/distract your crying wiggle worm: fun car-shaped seats, TVs at every station showing everything from baby shark to Cocomelon, balloons, lollipops, and little giveaways. Though none of these were enough to stop my sweet little burden from screaming his head off, by the end of our last visit he was actually fighting me to stay after the cut was all done. Progress! Make sure to make an appointment before you show up. Their online schedule is super easy and convenient. Also, adults must be masked and they do temperature checks at the door. Upon arrival there's a sign on the door that says to text/call them before entering, but normally someone just unlocks the door if they're not busy. read more

Took our daughter here for her first haircut. I showed Alma photos but she quickly cut the bangs at least half an inch too short, and choppy/uneven. It looks terrible. Like a bowl cut across my daughters face (no attempt at face-framing, etc). To make things worse, we didn't even get the keepsake piece of hair or 1st haircut certificate. I was so upset over the bad haircut in the moment that I didn't realize her hair had already been thrown away. When I booked the appointment I said it would be her first haircut & I wanted the special 1st haircut package. I said this AGAIN when we came in the morning of the appointment. This review is for the Heights location Saturday 12/7/24 in the afternoon. My son's haircut was great. However, the lady who cut my daughter's hair was rude and did a terrible, rushed job. Don't know her name because she never introduced herself, but she was the only lady wearing glasses. It seems she had an appointment that arrived while she had already started with my daughter's hair, so she was particularly rude and just wanted us out. She argued with me on how much to cut off, to add soft layers or frame her face. She literally cut my daughter's bangs straight across, as opposed to tapered like most hair dressers know and are trained yo do. She was just so unfriendly, even toward my 5 year old daughter. She said she didn't have time to paint her nails with the cut (though it comes with it) because her appointment was waiting. So, if you're the owner or supervisor and know who was on shift yesterday around 1 pm, with glasses, older lady, then I do think she should be written up. Maybe suggest to her to find another profession as she's really not good with kids and bad at cutting hair. read more

The manager Adriana would just watch and not do anything about it Unfortunately there was a lot of racism from the hair stylist Yesika which absolutely disgusted me! I cannot give enough credit to Alma! My son is autistic and is extremely sensitive around his ears and neck and Alma talked him through the process, let him pick which car he wanted although it wasn't her station she accommodated and didn't fuss. Once it came to the part where she had to use a machine around his neck and ears she even let him hold the end of the machine to make it seem as if he was cutting his own hair so the experience would be cool and exciting for him. I have gone to a specific haircut place before where their stylist are trained to deal with autistic kids but the last two times I took my son one stylist rolled her eyes telling him "it's just a haircut to relax" and the second time a different location, different stylist told him "if you stay still I wouldn't take so long son." My son is 18 months old. He has a full head of hair. It should not be a challenge to cut. He was glued to the TV screen the entire session and moved in the chair no more than adult. However, he received a totally uneven haircut. I asked for a trim they cut it extremely close. The bangs are shorter than the sides. The bangs are totally uneven. There are random long strips of hair on the sides that were not cut at all. And they cut the back extremely high. It looks like he cut his hair himself. I cannot imagine it going much worse, and with no excuse. This was an unchallenging haircut to give with a perfectly Still child with a fully grown head of hair. Absolute disaster. My son has been growing his hair out for a few months and finally wanted it cut. We went to Sharkey's for the first time, hoping they could do a better job than I do at home. The stylist made a show of asking what we wanted, and I explained that I wanted it left long on top with long bangs at least down to his eyebrows. When it came time to cut the top the stylist started to cut the bangs very short. I stopped her and told her no, we want it long on top. She combed his hair, cut the bangs long to make me happy, then swooped up the hair on top and cut it all short, bangs and all. He walked out with the exact same hair cut as the two kids who walked out as we were walking in. Look, if you only do one haircut don't bother asking what we want. This location is a location is suppoused to have a leading stylist for austistic children. Brought my special needs son for a hair cut. But will no longer take after this vist. My son being Speacial needs has issues with communication as he is non verbal. Often throws tantrums due to not being able express his feelings. So as usual. he throws a fit. Won't be coming back. I've been taking my son for a few years now and continued to drive back even though we moved from the heights. First offense- a new lady butchered his hair right before my sisters wedding (he was the ring bearer). She had no clue what she was doing. I tried a few times to correct her and showed her what a mess she was making. In her broken English she blamed it on his hair. I was furious but figured there was nothing we could do as i didn't want his hair any shorter. We returned for his next haircut and had one of the more experienced ladies do it. She took a look at his hair and asked who cut his hair last and glanced towards the new lady- i said yep it was her. She understood (she knew what a butcher she was) and thankfully fixed it. I returned once more for his haircut and my 2.5 year old daughters FIRST haircut. They did a fine job cutting both- they even set aside a little lock of her hair for me to take home. As i was paying i asked where her hair was...she acted confused and sure enough it was all vacuumed up...just like another poster said. She was the only one who could really work with my kiddo's crazy hair. But then she left. Since we have a membership, we were locked into the Yale location, so decided to give Amy, the new stylist, a try. We booked online. We arrived for our appointment, but she had left for the day. Irma ended up cutting his hair. It was uneven. The next time he needed a cut, I made an appt online with Amy, and again, she left and wasn't available. Irma cut his hair again. Because of his cowlick (which i mentioned to her), it looked like he had a chunk missing in the front. It was extremely unprofessional for Amy to skip out on our appts twice. The next month, I booked with Irma and talked more about how to treat the cowlick. She did better, but it still wasn't a great cut. I feel locked in because of the membership, so I tried to Irma again for this week. She wasn't available, so I booked with Amy. The shop wasn't open at 10 (our appt time) and I had to call so she'd know we were there. She was cleaning in the back and didn't know anyone was at the door. I mentioned his cowlick and how to work around it, but the cut looks awful. We tried for 4 months to make it work there since we have a membership, but I just can't continue to take my son there to get poor cuts. We only come here because my kids like to sit in the fun cars. The ladies are rude and their system is a mess. If you sign in that you have an appointment they'll call you before everyone else, even if you don't actually have an appointment. Lucia butchered my son's hair, then proceeded to get an attitude and left his chair in the middle of the appointment. Adriana refused to give me the owner's contact information and said there was nothing she could do even though she was in charge.
