MY husband and I were out monday night..... not to mention we visit here weekly for music and karaoke...I needed to finally use the bathroom.... never liked the bathrooms here..... but I needed to go.... i'm wearing my brand new birkenstocks.... I can tell someone has vomited all over the hallway as I come back from bathroom.... I put my hands on the walls and still slip and fall in this VOMIT........ I hurry to my husband to please help me clean my pants and hands before I lose it... and the bartender Chaumsee accuses me of throwing up because I'm a heavyset dark haired girl......... he literally accuses me of the VOMIT, literally having chunks from my pants........ my brand new pants and birks ruint!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was my first stop with a friend to get the night started. Divey for sure and it looked full of regulars who were hit and miss in the conversation . I was pretty turned off by the bar staff. Drinks were served and of the two bartenders working the counter, neither of them acknowledged us, even passing by us a few times. At one point the one guy did say he'd be right with us but he wasn't really moving with any urgency and he was plenty chatty with some of the other folks in there. The best part was the DJ putting on some nice 90's throwbacks and there was some dancing going on so the setting was cool, but the bartenders were just not doing it. We decided after one drink this wasn't gonna be the spot to hang any longer, it took long even for the guy to close us out. It wasn't even close to as busy as the other spots on the strip, a fair amount of other people sure, but not like say "Reys" down the block which was the busiest we went to. Maybe this was an off night here, but it didn't leave me with a good impression and can say it was probably the worst stop of the night. read more

DIVE BAR BABY! This is a great no judgment bar right on Main Street. But. Buuuut... If you're looking for the most ducked up bathroom in all of Greenville you've found it. Be prepared to hover shit! Instead of door knobs you have stuffed toilet paper in to resemble the knob. The duck tape in the knob into the men's bathroom should have been a dead give away but I needed to use the facilities to much to care. I rip open the door as a drunk patron pats me on the back commenting "that beard is too much!" I brush him off with a "thanks dude! I really gotta shit!" I reach for the door knob that is a role of toilet paper. Instead I'm forced to claw the door open like a drunk crab groping a clam. I see the toilet, covered in another mans pee. I went by around 5:15pm today and the place was locked up. Their Facebook page says they open at 2:00pm on Saturdays. After going to another establishment that WAS open as advertised, I walked past Sharkey's at 6:20, and they were open. You would think that they would have wanted as much of this NCAA Tournament business as possible today. read more

As already noted, this is a dive bar. The upside of this place was the friendly bartender. They were out of almost ALL food choices. The only thing they had left was chicken wings and French fries - they were out of everything else, but the bartender acted like that was just the norm. As it turned out, they were out of wings too. So the choice was fries or fries with cheese (they were out of bacon, chili, etc). The fries were ok but there was a handful of cold cheese just thrown on them, not even melted. The server met my husband in the hall on the way to the bathroom and apologized for the condition of the bathrooms yet no one was making any attempt to clean them despite the place being dead. He spared me the details on the bathroom but said if I didn't HAVE to go, wait until the next place. I hate to rate places down like this, but no one there seemed to take any pride in what they were doing. The place has a good location but someone needs to realize the potential and take action to make it better. read more

Wow. What a joke. Stopped in for a quick bite and beer for the first time in Greenville. Bartender says the owner is out of town and the only food they have is chicken strips and fries. Pretty weird your owner can't take a trip without the whole place turning upside down but alright, I'm always game for some chicken. So I ordered chicken strips and fries and man... I've had better meals from dirty fast food restaurants. Tenders were obviously old as hell and complete garbage, fries were the same thing. To top it off, I get my bill that was over $20..... One of my favorite spots in downtown Miceville (aka Greenville). Great bar food, drinks, and fun chill personality. 4.5 stars Eve award: best fried appetizer with a vegetable in it Highlights: - Atmosphere: mellow but lively spots with lots of tvs (over 20) for sports, music video, or in tonight's case even presidential debates. Perfect hang out spot. - Bar food: great selection -- Shark bites: my fave fried ap ever. Cheese and broccoli mixed together and breaded in an almost donuty exterior. Even non-broccoli people are fans of these. I almost agree to go back and visit the hub's friends for these. ;-) -- Cheesesteaks: all meat marvel covered with your choice of American or cheez wiz. Soft roll to hold it all in accompanied by seasoned thick fries. - Live entertainment: some weekend nights you can catch talented solo artists playing cover songs coffee shop style with more umph to make it in an alcoholic drinking establishment. Tonight our solo guitarist Chris Williamson played everything from tool to barenaked ladies to the who to tom petty to u2 to stp with mellow sidetracks to radiohead, snow patrol and even george michael. Awesome! - Service: excellent. Always around when we needed another drink and super friendly. On football Sunday our waitress not only made sure we were ok drink wise, but she checked to see how our teams were doing which was nice. Lowlights (my flip side to highlights): - Not everyone is up for this kind of a night. I love it but some prefer more of a scene. - Even though it's a great place to be on NFL Sunday cause they carry every game, most tvs are pretty small. - We don't have one of these at home in the bay area. First and last visit. Went with some coworkers last Friday. We were in search of a karaoke bar, and for whatever reason, this bar is the first one listed in Greenville. We showed up, and there was no karaoke. So we decided to get a drink while we figured out where else to find karaoke. To make a very long story short: the bartender was seriously drunk. I didn't even stay so I feel unable to accurately put a star rating on them. I walk in yesterday, Saturday evening, about 6:45. Only about 5 ppl at the bar. I sat closer to the end of the bar. Bartender (female, dark hair) well aware that I sat down, yet continues to talk to a couple while taking a few glances in my direction... never attempting to come over and take my drink order. I waited about 4 or 5 minutes before I simply decided to walk out. I took my business to the Hyatt where I gladly paid $5 a piece for MichUltra's. It may have started when our server presented me with the moldy menu...okay, I can look past that...we all carry hand sanitizer these days...but c'mon, you actually paid your staff to update the beer menu by crossing out things in pen? So we get that you don't have High Life, but yet you carry Natural Light... Moving on...our food was salty to say the least...I had the grilled cheese sandwich and french fries and my husband chose a chicken sandwich of some kind...while we were in the throws of consuming our food we actually commented, "This might not be that bad", oh...to bad after fifteen minutes and a post-dinner beer we had that "I should not have eaten this" feeling...you know, the one that gives you that feeling you and the bathroom might be spending some time together in the near future and that you hope you stashed that bottle of Pepto Bismol in your purse before you left...yeah, that one... Which leads me to the bathrooms...are they seriously in Siberia? The temperature differs drastically from outside and my absolute favorite decoration was the sign on one of the two stalls that stated "Out of order soon"...that was a new one... It can be difficult to find Premier League matches when visiting Greenville, SC for a wedding. I met up with some friends at Sharkey's with limited expectations for watching some soccer. On a whim, I decided to ask the bartender if I could watch a match on the big screen. He was very friendly about it and made it happen! All the other screens were on college football, so everything worked out. Also, the beers are cheap and cold. read more

First Manager was WASTED, stumbling around and slurring his words. Had fun though till management called last call around 1:40. Immediately following last call the bouncer walks in and yells for everyone to "get the fuck out". when a group acknowledges what he said saying they were gonna finish their drinks (Which were almost gone) he pulls out his taser and presses the button making the taser go off and says " I said get the fuck out" . I flagged down the bartender and asked What the deal was and he told me that by law everyone needed to be out by 2. Which is cool i understand that. I said to him well its 145, we will finish our beers we were drinking and be out before then no problem. I notice a few seconds later the bouncer is at a table behind us clearing his throat and trying to intimidate us. Another customer walks up to the bar and pulls out his wallet and one of the other bartenders gets an attitude with him saying lights are on we have obviously already called last call. Guy rolls his eyes and says im just trying to pay my tab..... I have never.... never... seen crap like that before in my life. I will never go back. I wouldn't have been as shocked by that kind of behavior if people were still in the bar after 2 am but to call last call and then be told to get the fuck out is ridiculous. read more

Love this pub! It's always a great time! They usually have a live band during the week/weekend. The staff is great especially Shawn D and Eddie! Love them!! Also, their food is amazing! This is a horrible place, I used to be a regular there and found out that the owner did not pay his employees. That's right he decided they didn't deserve their 2 dollars an hour but should live off their tips. I started going after one of his bartenders applied for my company and I went there to see how he was with customer service. About six months later I was talking to a waitress who had been there over a month and never received a paycheck so I offered her a job, she was great with her customer and had a family she was supporting. The next week the owner told me to never come back.... If only he knew that if he paid his people they might be loyal. read more

Classic sports bar/restaurant located in every city's downtown core - if you're going watch the Sunday game lineup and your are in downtown Greenville, this is your place! Plenty of beer options, and standard bar food...I really enjoyed my burger; not only was it good on its own, they offer a big list of toppings to make it your own. All that said, you are not going to find any foodies or healthy options here - it is what it is. I'm a big fan of people watching, so their outdoor street presence (one of very few) allowed me to keep one eye on the game, and another on the holiday goings on. read more

Ok I'm going to be a little forgiving on this review. First of all the service is fantastic! Me n my crew decided to try this out yesterday for lunch for the first time. The waitress explained that this was the cooks first day. We started with the chili cheese tots...fantastic....not soggy nor greasy. Fried pickles good but prefer them to be sliced thinner. This place appears to need a good cleaning. Food is mediocre. The reuben sandwiches used to be very good, but now they are not grilled and when a friend asked for them to be grilled, she was told they didn't have any butter. The bread was almost like it was taken from the package and very, very lightly toasted. Live music is entirely too loud for that venue. This used to be a good place for groups during football season, but even that has changed a bit. Staff has been hot and cold - sometimes friendly and sometimes not. With so many eating choices downtown now, Sharkeys Pub needs to deep clean the entire pub, change the decor, and make the place more inviting. read more

We stopped here for an early lunch, before heading out to the Framer's Mart on Main St., We stopped here for a Wrap and a BLT. Good service, waitress was great! Food was good, quick and good quality. We were having a great time, till a cock roach ran across the bench right next to my wife. It was almost two inches long, maybe a quarter pounded. I got up and swashed it ! Sharks is basically your college pub bar. Personally 25 years ago I would have fit in much better with the locals that frequent this pub. But it has one really cool thing that keeps me coming back...differerent flavored ice es they pour into what I guess is grain alcohol cus they will get you lit up like a Christmas tree that's for sure. Also the atmosphere is really laid back and people pretty much are either very friendly or keep to themselves. It has more of a sports bar vibe to it but it does have one man bands play their on weekends from time to time that I've enjoyed in the past as well! read more

Greenville has a lot of nice places but Sharkey's is not one of them. The overall experience is subpar. A handful of sticky tables and beat up booths make up the inside. The menu is extremely limited and the food is far from good. I suppose I would say the good is tolerable if you are drunk and need a snack. The service was terrible. It wasn't really crowded especially when compared to other places we walked by so I would have thought customers would have been welcomed but it felt like we were more of a nuisance. The bathrooms are also straight out of a third world country and disgusting. read more

I was in Greenville over the weekend and needed a late lunch on Saturday afternoon. Alot of places were crowded and I didn't feel like waiting when all I wanted was a beer and a snack. I saw the bar in Sharkey's was just about empty, so I thought I could get a quick bite. They didn't seem thrilled that i wanted to be a customer. The service was less than enthusiastic and my Guinness was at least 40% foam. The chicken bites were what i expected, but the service and the whole vibe made this a poor lunch experience. The place may be good for a late night beer, but there are much better options on Main Street if you want a meal. read more

My visit only lasted 3 minutes so take it for what it's worth. I had 30 minutes to kill before meeting up with friends so I thought to start the night off early with a beer and whatever followed. It was Sunday so the place was pretty empty. I made a beeline for the bar, which was full. Seated at the bar from one end to the other was a line of young, white males. The only reason I mention this is because I'm a young, black female so I'm assuming when I sat down at one end of the bar, the bartender might notice he had a new patron. Alas, that did not happen. What followed was this: The bartender walks from the farthest end of the bar to my end to grab a bottle of something. I'm just sitting, looking at him as he makes his way towards me. Apparently, he didn't notice me until he was right in front of me, because he makes eye contact with me for about 2 full seconds, then turns his head and walks past me as if I wasn't even there. I was somewhat disconcerted, to say the least, because I'm use to a service person at least saying hi or something to acknowledge my presence. He said nothing. He pours whatever he needs to pour and walks back pass me to the other end of the bar, this time without looking my way. By this time I feel somewhat shunned but maybe not, maybe it's just me. So the bartender starts walking back towards me and I'm like ok, maybe I perceived the entire 2 second moment wrong. But as he's walking towards me, he suddenly does a left face and stops at the register to do whatever. By this time, I've had enough and I leave the bar. I head to City Tavern where I sit down, the bartender tells me she'll be right with me, and all is right with the world. Maybe it was my perception, but I've never had a bartender look me in the eyes and turn away without so much as a hi, be right with you, or something. If I wanted to be treated as if I'm invisible, I would spend time with my significant other. I don't know what his problem was, if he even had a problem, maybe that's how he treats people, but I won't go back there alone, for any reason, ever again. read more
