I've been to Kilpatrick's a few times and had a mixed bag of experiences. I'll lay out the good and the bad and hopefully you can make an informed decision. My best experience there was for happy hour and that was awesome. They have a great happy hour with 1/2 off of hard liquor and discounted beer. The place isn't too loud and it wasn't too crowded (even on a Friday). The bartender was happy, knowledgeable and not a drag. A very nice way to spend an afternoon after work. My worst experience was going there to watch the SEC championship game. It was myself and 4 friends and we wanted a place with TVs that wouldn't be too crazy and was pretty nice. Kilpatrick's has two TVs behind the bar and I noticed this on a previous visit so that's why we decided to return. But there were a few issues. The first, and biggest, was that there is a policy that they can't/won't put the volume on for games. It should be explained that there was only one other guy in the bar at the time and he was there to watch the game too, so literally 100% of the customer base at the time wanted the volume for the game. No dice. Second, the bartender wasn't pleasant in the least. I'm not sure if she's had to deal with people asking about the volume on games before, just got up on the wrong side of the bed, or what the deal was. But she wasn't making any friends. So we all finished our drinks and headed down the street to City Tavern where we spent the next 3 hours watching the game. If I had to sum things up I'd say the moral of the story is that Kilpatrick's is good for happy hour but not good for watching sporting events. Choose wisely my friends.

Surprisingly amazing food! This place has a great lunch menu. I had the tacos and was overwhelmed with the delicious flavors. It's definitely a small place but great atmosphere.

Nice little pub. Had a beer and food before heading upstairs to the comedy show. Great service

Nice little pub with a few surprises... there is a comedy club upstairs and a dance club behind. 3-in-1. Three separate places in one great location. Something for everyone.

Sat outside on a Saturday and it took 20 minutes to put in our drink order. The hostess put in our appetizer order. We never got our drinks.

I really like the food and the comedy show up stairs. I have only been once but I really think Greenville is ready for this type of place.

Dennis & Logan are two of the dopest bartenders out there who also know how to make a killer drink. I love coming here for Dennis' expert take on an old fashioned, which he has spent a lot of time and effort refining. And I don't kid when I say that this is Greenville's best old fashioned. The attitude behind the bar is very laidback, which will likely offput people expecting a pretentious, posh atmosphere. But if you want a drink made by people who care about what goes in your glass, trust me, pay Rey's a visit.

One bartender (with a nose piercing) yelled at my brother-in-law for placing a small piece of paper behind the bar because there was no trash can near the dart area. When my brother asked if he would have preferred it be thrown on the floor, the bartender replied, "Actually, yes." It was a clear no-win situation. The overall tone from the staff felt aggressive and confrontational. Another bartender (with longer hair) made a comment to our group saying, "If that bitch blows her whistle again," using derogatory language toward women in our party. That level of disrespect is unacceptable. Because of the staff's behavior, we took our entire group, and our business, elsewhere and will not be returning. This experience left a very bad impression, and management should be aware of how their bartenders are representing the establishment.

Honestly, all of the staff we encountered were so helpful, I was very impressed. The bar area is first come, first served. The oysters were fresh and I was given the choice for the sizes of them. The mignonettes were absolutely delicious. We also ordered a burger to share so they cut it in half for us and split the side of fries as well. That was the nicest gesture! The burger is made of two smashed patties with American cheese, garlic confit aioli, and diced caramelized onions. Absolutely delicious! The patty was seasoned and tender. The aoili and onions paired so well together. I can't wait to return for this and dinner service. Fries were fresh and crispy. My only complaint is the excess grease was sitting in the bottom of the metal container, so maybe a piece of paper or something at the bottom could help. Coconut espresso martini was also delicious. I don't like coconut, but the flavor of it was very subtle. Definitely will be returning!

The menu tends to rotate, so what I had may not be there when you get there. I went with the beef roast (not roast beef) sandwich, which was good, if not the best roast I've had. The au jus was real thick, almost a gravy; it really was a stellar idea. I normally think au jus makes sandwiches a bit soggy, but this just stayed on the surface. The side of Hasselback potatoes was good, but it was real small. Price-wise, this is cheap for its exclusivity, location, and fare. The most expensive thing on the menu was just over $20. Worth also mentioning is the peach compote over vanilla ice cream. That compote was about as Christmas-flavored as you could get and was fantastic. The ice cream wasn't bad either. Service-wise, it is a little slow, but I think that's the point. If you're here, you can't exit the theater between supper and the show, so they try to get you finished up by about 7-7:15, no matter when you came in. Also, even though we didn't use this, they will prep dessert for you to have during intermission. The river and outdoor stage views from this place are also great, and the high ceilings and lighting make it feel like fancy like a meal before a play should.
