Kilpatrick's is one of three businesses in this space. The restaurant itself is the smaller space with outdoor seating, and inside there are booths, high tops, and a bar area. On the same floor but separated by doors is Pour, the nightclub that does not open until later (11ish), and The Comedy Zone is upstairs. Our server was new and a bit overwhelmed keeping up with outside and in, but she did an okay job. Once she placed our order, runners brought out the food which helped. The menu is loaded with Irish favorites. My hub had the fish and chips, which he loved, and he said he could tell the fish was fresh. I tried the Kahiki, which is a teriyaki grilled chicken breast sandwich with fresh, not canned, slice of pineapple, provolone cheese and applewood bacon. So delicious and perfectly prepared. My side was the tater tots, which were perfectly browned and crispy and not oily. Comfort food, to say the least. Since it was a Friday night and downtown was crowded, yet we didn't have to wait long at all for our freshly made food, this made a great first impression. We'll definitely be back to try more of the Irish favorites, including the bread pudding that we were much too full to try on this visit. read more

My husband and I visit Greenville SC often. Recently we were in town for the day/night and decided to visit Kilpatrick's Public House. In all of our visits to Greenville we had never been there before. We stopped in for "one last drink" on a Saturday night before making our way back to our hotel for the night. Three hours later we finally left and promising ourselves this would be our new favorite spot to hit up every time we're in town. While the bar was a good vibe that we enjoyed, what made this bar stand out against all the others we've visited was JORDAN, the bartender. She was the best! We enjoyed talking to her. (She's a fascinating person!) To top it all off, she made me the best drink ever! My husband told her I am not a drinker and he is always trying to find something I'll like. She asked if she could make something for me to try. I told her yes, but not to get her feelings hurt when I didn't like it because I just don't like the taste of alcohol. (LOL) I ended up having FOUR of her drinks! (So, if you're ever in Greenville and want a drink, but don't love the taste of alcohol, stop in to see Jordan! She will hook you up!) I've been to Kilpatrick's a few times and had a mixed bag of experiences. I'll lay out the good and the bad and hopefully you can make an informed decision. My best experience there was for happy hour and that was awesome. They have a great happy hour with 1/2 off of hard liquor and discounted beer. The place isn't too loud and it wasn't too crowded (even on a Friday). The bartender was happy, knowledgeable and not a drag. A very nice way to spend an afternoon after work. My worst experience was going there to watch the SEC championship game. It was myself and 4 friends and we wanted a place with TVs that wouldn't be too crazy and was pretty nice. Kilpatrick's has two TVs behind the bar and I noticed this on a previous visit so that's why we decided to return. But there were a few issues. The first, and biggest, was that there is a policy that they can't/won't put the volume on for games. It should be explained that there was only one other guy in the bar at the time and he was there to watch the game too, so literally 100% of the customer base at the time wanted the volume for the game. No dice. Second, the bartender wasn't pleasant in the least. I'm not sure if she's had to deal with people asking about the volume on games before, just got up on the wrong side of the bed, or what the deal was. But she wasn't making any friends. So we all finished our drinks and headed down the street to City Tavern where we spent the next 3 hours watching the game. If I had to sum things up I'd say the moral of the story is that Kilpatrick's is good for happy hour but not good for watching sporting events. Choose wisely my friends. read more

A group of 6 of us walked in (26 years of age and up) and the bartender (a lady with long black hair) examines our cards for 10 minutes. I had to offer to give her my passport for her to accept me. Then she denied two of my friends because they were from out of state. I honestly believe she just didn't want to serve us. She even gave a guy in our group who is 32 about his ID. Love this place we come here every week. The food is great and sam and etta are the best

First time here. I only gave 4 stars because, at the time, the kitchen was being remodeled so there was very limited choices of small, appetizer-type dishes. Their previous menu looked great, which was the reason for our visit. But the happy hour prices were great! So we decided to stay for drinks and had a couple of appetizers. Our bartender, Etta, was absolutely amazing! Her knowledge of mixology, personality, interaction with customers and efficiency, demonstrated when the big rush of customers came through for the comedy show held in their upstairs room came in at what seemed like a stampede, was nothing short of impressive. We left in search of live music, but found none starting until very late. So we came back, had a few more drinks and enjoyed a very nice evening. I've been to Kilpatrick's Pub House in the past and it has changed since I last visited it. The menu is now limited but some favorites are still offered. The place was not crowded at all even though it was a Thursday night and downtown music was across the street at NOMA Plaza. I shared the fish and chips with a friend and it was more than enough with two pieces of fish each. The other friends also ordered fish and chips and it came with four pieces of fish but some of it was 'airy' batter. The regular portion is $10. They no longer offer tater tots or regular fries but offer waffle fries. Happy Hour is good with half-price Well drinks and discounts for beers. Greenville Comedy Club is upstairs and Pour is beyond the double doors so there are three business in one building. The hours are unusual for a Main Street restaurant. Kilpatrick's Pub House is only open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday but we were told if business improved they would consider opening more days. The food was okay but not as good as we remembered. The group decided we probably won't return to this location. I've had both good and bad experiences here, but you make your own decision. read more

This is a neighborhood bar / restaurant making an attempt an an Irish ambience, but it takes more than dark wood and Guiness. Service was fine. Just 2 beers on tap, Guiness and Smithwickes. Some food items claim to be Irish, others do not, so limiting the draft selection to these two seems ill conceived. There is a full bar, also. I love fish and chips so gave them a try here. I received two fish filets which, I am sure, just come frozen in a bag - no actual prep or hand battering. The "chips" were steak fries buried under a seasoning mix that was salty / sweet / peppery and way, way too much. There is not much here to bring me back. read more

Just went in to get out of the heat and have a drink. Bartender Tanya was welcoming and friendly. It was happy hour , great drink prices and snacks. We asked her to recommend places to eat, she told us her favorites and then got several of the customers involved in the discussion. The place was comfortable and had a local feel. We ended up talking to one gentleman for a little while before we left. Tanya suggested that we come back later for the comedy show or the dance club. After walking around and finally having dinner, we decided to go to a martini bar we had read about. It was a disappointment so we left and walked around the corner to Kilpatricks. Tanya welcomed us back and we sat at the bar. Found no reason to go anywhere else. Great drinks, the option of the dance club, and friendly people. Tanya made our night! read more

The food and service were ok. I had fish and chips. The fish was good, but the chips were not. They were steak fries buried in seasoning. There was a tent ad on the table for an Irish whiskey at $4. When the bill came, it was $6. The whiskey was good, but the taste left in my mouth was bad. There are plenty of places on main street. This one won't last if it doesn't improve. read more

Stopped in for drinks while in town for a conference. When we walked in it was quiet, i mean you could hear a cricket chirp, we were the only people and it was 8PM on a Wednesday. Now I'd like to chalk that up to it being a Wednesday night, but every other joint was busy. Not an encouraging sign. We elected to sit on the patio since we are smokers, the bartender (who was very friendly) immediately became neglectful after we went out to the patio. Maybe the walk was to much or just the fact that the only customers weren't in front of her, I don't know. They have about 20+ beers (95% in bottles) but no beer menu! So if you want a different eber you have to walk up to the bar and try to read whats on the bottles. Lame and piss poor job of management on that. If you make it easier on the patrons to figure out what they would like to drink they are more inclined to drink more and order faster. Business 101. read more

I liked it. I'm going to start with the sweet tea, and the fact that it was really good...this always predisposes me favorably toward a place I'm new to. So, it's me, my wife, and our two little kids and we found ourselves downtown on a lovely Saturday 11:00ish. The boy wanted to go to Chick-Fil-A, we had decided on finishing up our business and heading to CFA when my wife said "let's just find someplace good downtown." I quickly agreed. She suggested Grille 33 which we didn't realize had moved to a different location, so I said "why don't we go here." I had read about Kilpatrick's in a local publication a month or so ago and was interested, as I'm always happy to try an Irish (or Irish themed) place, so in we went. First impression "gosh, it's really, really dark in here." It's a good thing there was outdoor seating. I ordered a Carolina Burger along with pretzel dippers, teriyaki wings, and fried green tomatoes with pimiento cheese. My daughter really, really liked the bacon that came on the burger, the pimiento cheese was really nicely done with a hint of a kick at the finish. The wings were good, maybe a little overdone (but with chicken it's better overdone than underdone). The teriyaki was a little thick for my taste, but I don't generally eat Teriyaki, so what do I know. The pretzel bits were quite good, and I had tater tots with the burger. Frozen? Probably. Wonderful? Definitely. I didn't have a Guinness or any other alcoholic beverage for that matter...hmm, I'll have to save that for the next visit. I'm not sure how "Irish" this place is as opposed to being "Irish-Themed," but the food was good and the service was friendly and attentive. And while I've listed this at four, maybe it should be more of a 3.5-3.75. read more
