My absolute favorite here is the Tijuana Wings! I would come to MV just to eat this, seriously. It's definitely a place where I have to stop by everytime I come here just so I can have that. The owner of this establishment is an example of a good citizen. The food here is solid. I have to comment that this the second time (April and tonight) where I found the wait staff behind the bar inattentive. I had to ask for a beer and a menu while three staff members discussed some internal issue. Cool place but TLC for you customers. read more

It was about 9:30 by the time we went to look for dinner and this was one of our few options. From the moment we were seated, the waiter started trying to push the most expensive drinks and food from the menu before asking if we knew what we wanted to drink. Since the marathon was the next day, we didn't try the Margarita but they looked amazing and people around us seemed to love them. The service was terrible. We were a party of 6, and they told us each person of our party must spend $25, yet most of their Entrees were priced around $12. When I asked how we would spend $25 when their meals were no where near that price range she simply said "order appetizers and drinks". They have some 3rd World H1 Visa wielding numbskulls on the grill in the back making peanuts and absolutely horrible food in this place. Go there for a drink and don't eat there. We ordered nachos and all we got were chips smothered in cheese and some tomatoes on it. The waiter asked us, "How is everything?" I said, "To be honest these nachos are a disappointment and we asked for our wings to be double-cooked, so we don't have pink flesh clinging to the bone." I am dead serious. The waiter said, "Really?" I said, "I don't know why you are acting surprised the guy across from us just sent back his nachos too and left, so obviously there an issue with the food." The jalapeño poppers ripped me a new one, and the sludge on the enchiladas was reminiscent of my visit to the toilet a mere three minutes after consumption. I barely made it to the outhouse style bathroom once the flood hit and consumed me. Every single person in my group (there were six of us) got major diarrhea after eating here. The food was disgusting, the drinks were mediocre, and the atmosphere was nothing like a real Mexican restaurant. DON'T go to Sharky's. The waiter first tried to up-sell my husband and I on the type of tequila for 5 minutes.. we both said several times the house tequila was fine. Somehow he won and we were charged extra for Patron. I feel 1 star for this place is actually too much but we don't get an option for 0. Let's start with the appetizers. We ordered the Super Nacho platter and chicken fajitas. We had less than 2 minutes to eat our appetizer before our main course arrived - this really pissed me off. I asked the waitress why she would bring everything out at the same time and she said ' that's just the way we do things here'. I had to ask to speak to the manager because at that point, just on principle, I wasn't going to eat the nachos and also wasn't going to pay for them. The manager did come over and after a brief discussion, took the nachos off of our bill. The chicken fajitas were some of the worst that I've ever had. I understand it's hard to find a decent Mexican place in MV, but how hard is it to just grill chicken so it's at least presentable. Tasteless, inedible, very disappointing overall. The owner, JB, is an amazing guy who is very active on social media, very responsive to comments, and a huge sports fan, resulting in lots of food specials for Patriots game days and Red Sox World Series nights. Pros: Friendly staff, fun ambience, good location. Cons: Really pretty gross. Sharky's is inauthentic Mexican food at its very worst. The decor is exactly what you'd expect - a busy collection of shark signs and beach paraphernalia. Wait staff were friendly, and we were seated fairly quickly for a busy night. The food took quite a while to arrive, and we had a chance to ponder the impressive collection of drinks - including the Watermelon Margarita. We were dismayed by the salsa and chips (which we should have taken as a warning). They were not complimentary, as is usually the case, and the pico de gallo salsa consisted of bland unripe chopped tomatoes and was utterly without flavor. The chips were room temperature, thick, and tasteless. The guacamole was equally distressing and tasted like it was made from over-ripe avocados. The entrees were similarly disheartening. Tacos were served on a plastic tray, on a bed of cold shredded cabbage (the most palatable part of the meal.) The refried beans were a tasteless fluid. Which is what I wish the enchilada sauce had been. The enchiladas themselves were languishing somewhere in the bottom of a deep puddle of dark brown sauce which tasted strong, bitter and was vaguely reminiscent of barbecue sauce. The chili relleno is a monstrous deep fried mountain of sadly abused poblano peppers. Everything was kind of icky, tasteless, and nothing like real Mexican food. For prices this expensive ($14.95 for an entree), the food really should be better. Maybe it's not so bad if you're just drinking. I will never know. read more

OK, actually, I kind of have to admit that I agree with Joe, and that this place almost doesn't deserve any stars, except that it is Martha's Vineyard, where one's taste generally goes straight out of the window if there is booze involved. You can't go to Sharkey's expecting to get Mexican food. Sure, it has names of cliche TexMex dishes on the menu, but that is pretty much where the similarity ends. The food is absolute crap, which is weird, because I know the guys who started the place have a fairly good idea of what food should taste like. I think that they just decided at some point that it was more important to them to sell a lot of drinks and throw around plastic sharks than to serve palatable food. So, three stars for the really very tasty mojito. No more because the mint was too gritty. The sodium levels are insane. Every time I call to put a pick up order or ether they don't understand or they give me different food, or they don't give me all my food and charged for it which is disappointing when you are pregnant and hungry . We had gaucomole, salsa, and chips (decent, needed more spice), cheese enchiladas (needed more flavor), pina colada (definitely didn't like it), and a margarita (pretty good).
