Sharky's is just okay. The food is pretty mediocre, not bad, but not outstanding either. I tried the entree with three different enchiladas - pork, chicken and cheese. There was so much cheese on top that I really couldn't taste anything else, except for the red sauce they put on them, and that wasn't very good. I love cheese though so I ate it all up, but I could have melted some cheese on some corn tortillas at home and saved a bunch of money. They have a really good selection of margaritas, but the couple flavors that I tried weren't that great. I tried a frozen blackberry margarita and a plain margarita. They are served in 12 oz glasses that look like pints, cute ones that say "lime disease", but the drink itself was sort of icy and flavorless really. I would still go back to Sharky's though because I really liked the atmosphere and the service. It has neat shark-themed decorations and is very family friendly. They gave each of my kids a little toy plastic shark which kept them engaged the entire time we were waiting for our meal. Also, the servers were extremely nice and attentive, which is a very important characteristic for a place to have if you're dining out with kids. Came to Martha's Vineyard for a little trip with my boyfriend and his friends. We were hungry and wanted to grab something quick so we went here. The atmosphere is really cute, a lot of older people playing their little Questionnaire game. I feel like it is more of a hometown restaurant, less of a tourist's. We ordered wings and ribs. Was slightly disappointed because it was not the great. Nothing much to say about this place. P.S I tried riding a moped with my boyfriend in the back, at first I almost hit a car, then I drove into a construction workers area, hitting a guy in the leg. Go for drinks, not food. Seven of us went for dinner, and there wasn't a good meal in the bunch. I had a burrito bowl with shrimp. Everything -- the beans, the guacamole, the shrimp -- was bland. The shrimp were tiny salad shrimp that had possibly been cooked in the microwave. Even the nacho trifecta appetizer was disappointing: velveeta queso, bland guac, canned diced tomatoes. Truly some of the worst tasting food I've ever had. Waiter upselled us on everything. Chips were greasy. Guacamole was prepackaged, queso tasted microwaved. Pico de gallo was prepackaged. Quesadillas were burnt and the steak tasted like soft steak flavored bread. Friends food was terrible also. The only positive was the corona, bottled far away from the cantina. it's hard to find really bad mexican food. at least, i've never really done it. how can you screw up tortillas, salsa, beans and cheese? still, it's also hard to do really special mexican food. sharky's, while good, was nothing special. good burritos (for the extra buck, i'd go with the sharky's super burrito which comes with guac, otherwise, be ready to lay out $4.95 for it), chimichangas and quesadillas. really cheesy. my steak burrito (also an extra buck) had a nice smokey chipotle flavor to it. the good news was, with 7 people (including a 3 year-old), on july 4th weekend, we were seated immediately. my niece was pleased with the kids menu and it seemed, from looking around the restaurant, she wasn't the only one. definitely a kid-friendly place as there were more sippy-cups than pints floating around. of course, we were there at 11:30 a.m., so probably a different scene at night. this seems to be a franchise as there was one in edgartown as well, though i did not go to that one. not a huge selection of beers, but this is a pretty small place with about 15 tables. all in all, pretty typical fare. i'd go back. read more

Some friends and I went here for lunch when we were on Martha's Vineyard. Overall, it was decent. The food was rather bland, and the margaritas were sub par. (My boyfriend insisted his tasted like "dirt.") The rice was not authentic and tasted frozen or something. I didn't particularly mind the food and they had a lot of vegetarian options, which we loved. It was somewhat overpriced for what it was, though. If I were in the area again, I would maybe give it another shot. read more

Sharky's was our go to place when we started our vacations, but the food has gone downhill in the past few years. We used to love the crispy chicken wings, which are now soggy... I would highly recommend this gem in the busy town of Aok Bluffs. The dishes are inventive and the food is scrumptious not to mention the service friendly and fast. The place is small, but the service makes it worthwhile and the menu boasts very tasty mexican dishes and a wide array of margarita flavors and concoctions. I would make this a must stop fr a quick bite for lunch or dinner. Plus they have locations in other areas around the island. I ordered the fish tacos and they were so good I wanted another! This is my favorite restaurant on the vineyard! Every time I get to the island I always have to make sure to come here to eat. It is so good. Best Mexican food I have had around New England. I always get the tacos, it tastes so fresh and so flavorful. The drinks are so tropical and tasty and the ambience is so fun. Also I have never gotten food so fast after ordering before. Love, love, love Sharky's. We looked forward to the El Scorpion bowl all year after going last year while on the island. It is sweet and not so strong you can't enjoy it. Also, the food is amazing. Try the the killa salsa with chips. Surprisingly, they make the worlds best hot wings. I could literally only have three from the spice that comes after the mango sweetness. Burritos here are out of this world. The brownie sundae for dessert is a great late nigh snack as well. read more

When you have a craving for Tex-Mexy comfort foods, and a solid mojito (done right, with a piece of sugar cane), this is the place for you!

There are two Sharky's locations. One in Edgartown, which is a larger restaurant with a lot of bar seating and one in Oak Bluffs, which is more like a cantina with less seating. The food seems pretty consistent at both locations. It's not authentic Mexican by any stretch, but it's always good enough to satisfy any late night nacho craving. They have a nice loaded nacho plate with choice of meat which is very good but too much for one person. The enchiladas with flank steak was nice enough with a watermelon margarita and they have a good Mexican beer selection as well. Given that it's one of the only places open with service till 1 am, it's Hobson's choice. Take it or leave it. So the food isn't bad and comes out hot and timely. They do ok there. The staff seems a bit clueless. I wouldn't recommend going there by yourself unless you want to be ignored. It takes a long time to get the bartenders attention or to get a drink or a menu. Ive had to ask for a menu every single time I've been there. It's funny. You'd think they would try to sell to you, but they act as though they don't even want you around. I find this happens a lot at the Oak Bluffs location. This latest time I was sitting at the bar for what seemed like 5 minutes, I left and got a burger down the street. Stopped in here for an early lunch a few weeks ago. Even though only one person was working he was able to serve all of us and knew we had to make it to our 1:15 ferry. Great service. We got coconut shrimp and wings to start which were both very good. Then I got a quesadilla with guacamole for lunch. Everything tasted really fresh. The portion sizes are very generous, but definitely manageable if you're hungry. Only thing I found odd was that the restrooms are not attached to the restaurant. If I'm ever on the island again I'll be sure to check out the drink menu as well because from what I hear it's excellent. read more

We were there earlier this month as a party of 7; 4 adults, and 3 kiddos. We had to use 2 tables to seat all of us because they don't have one table big enough. No biggie. We were still all seated together, and we all ordered together. The wait hadn't been very long, and here comes my parents' food, my food followed right behind, and so did my husband's. Then we waited. And waited. Still no food for our kiddos. As we are waiting, our crunchy tacos have fallen apart from the grease soaking through them. And then we waited some more. Alas, here comes some more food, but only 2 of my kids plates arrived, but nothing for my youngest. So we waited, and waited. Finally, here come the nachos that my youngest had seen in an advertisement on the bus; the whole reason he had asked if we could eat here. They brought the nachos out, put them in front of him; he was so excited. They looked just like the picture. As he's getting ready to dive in, the guy comes back, and said it's the wrong order. Then takes the nachos away, delivers them to a couple sitting at another table....that came in after us, and ordered after us. Are you kidding me???? So we are still waiting for the food for my youngest to arrive. A few more minutes, out come his nachos. This is no exaggeration, 10 minutes went by from when my plate was dropped off, and my 2 kiddos got their food. Then another 5 minutes before the next plate arrived. 15 minutes from first plate delivered to last plate delivered. Something is very wrong there. A quick side note here; we ordered straight off the menu. No special orders, no particular requests, nothing fancy, nothing to make some plates come out later than others. The food...meh. No chips, and salsa included with the meal. I've never been to a Mexican restaurant that didn't serve chips, and salsa with your meal. To be honest though, even if the food was the best Mexican food I had ever eaten (which it very much was not), I still would never come here again because of how our food was delivered. Huge, huge disappointment; and all of it done without any kind of apology or acknowledgement. If that's how they run a business, I don't care to give them any kind of support whatsoever. I usually get to the heart of the matter when I talk about a restaurant and to me, the heart of a great restaurant is the food. But in this case, I'm going to start with management and staff which, at Sharky's is first-rate. My husband and I have patronized Sharky's Cantina from day one, our initial attraction being that you truly get a sense you're in a great local joint in Playa del Carmen as opposed to a strip mall chain like Chipotle. Living on Martha's Vineyard presents numerous challenges for its year-round population when many restaurants close soon after Labor Day. Management at Sharky's (there are two locations, both excellent, but I am partial to Oak Bluffs) is totally on it keeping it's devoted clientele informed via text, Facebook and Twitter about last minute food deal's and special events, good for business and patron alike. The server's are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, making sure your food arrives promptly and properly prepared, yet not rushing you through it to get to the next party of four. Very much appreciated. For the longest time we were hard pressed not to order anything but Sharky's excellent Gaucho Steak, a wonderful combination of marinated skirt steak piled high with guacamole, salsa, a dollop of sour cream and served on a bed of rice with your choice of beans (black for me) Always delicious and almost impossible not to bring home an ample doggy bag of leftovers for the following days lunch, it's a winning combination of flavor. We have strayed of course, especially at lunchtime to order Nachos (a terrific starter, especially for a crowd), taco salad served with your choice of protein (beef, chicken, fish) wings, tortilla soup or my personal favorite, Sizzlin' Fajitas. Pair any of these wonderful dishes with a Corona with a lime stuff in its neck or one of Sharky's fabulous margarita's (check out the watermelon Sharkarita, trust me on this) and Ole'! Been to the island before, but never really thought about Mexican food. This place is such a great find off popular Curcut Ave. In Oak Bluffs. Sat at the bar for dinner on a Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. Small place, but they make it work well by putting focus on their food. Had a chicken quesadilla and my love got Chile and a burrito that came with chips and a side of sour cream and guac, my fav. Will definitely come back next time on the island. read more

I LOVED this place while I stayed in MV. Very fun place to hang out, this is where everyone seems to go. Our waitress the first night here was a sweetheart. I think the food is awesome (especially the nachos)! Can't say anything about the wait time- there was none. Getting a table can be challenging during high season; it's a rather small space and the place is more of a bar than restaurant; thus, ambiance is not the draw, here. Funny thing about this place is that in the summer it's on the main drag in OB and in the off-season it's one of the only places open. They could serve PB and J's and they would do business. I've been in either case so I will have to judge as though it lived in a vacuum. It is very good for nachos, tacos, wings, and margaritas. In fact, the tequila selection is terrific. It isn't a culinary dream but recommended for a quick bite, beer, or cocktail. Get a margarita and some nachos catch up on a game while your old lady is shopping for souvenirs and stuff you don't need. And, don't have too many because chances are you'll have to stop off at the fudgery with someone in your excursion party and Sharky's isn't s good prelude.
