Even though we are "local," (Clovis) we have not spent time up at Shaver. We rented a cabin for the 4th of July and happily stumbled upon Shaver Coffee and Deli. What a hard-working, kind team! Despite the overwhelming crowds, the team was hustling and turning out super high quality food at a reasonable price, giant and delicious milkshakes, and high quality coffee. We felt like we were treated like regulars from our first trip. The monkey break is ridiculously good and served still warm! The grill items were fantastic too. Hot tip: you can grab a menu and call your order in ahead, eliminate any wait, and get $1 off your order. Next time we will know ahead to make this our go to. Prices are very reasonable too! Went in today, it was weird walking in to a employee being berated by another coworker/ and then the same beautiful, brown haired bright eyed girl greeted us at the register. So talkative and sweet. but then she was quickly told not to take our order. The person that took our order was very serious, not friendly and just changed the whole tone of the environment. Good Americana type of food. We had a party of six for lunch and it was so good we went back for breakfast and it was equally as good. The owner remembered my name and that is how you run a business. This place has a little bit of everything. Like lots of jerky types, coffee drinks, and food and snacks. They also have some cute Shaver Lake souvenirs and some local canned goods. We always go for the ice cream and the service is always so great. They're always so patient with my crazy boys and we love to get out of the house and support local! read more

We went here for lunch. Our group tried each others orders and all of them were so good!!! The staff went out of there way brought us refills without us asking. We stopped by to pick up a birthday cake for my dad. We had selected to purchase a cheesecake they used in other dishes but Stephanie offered to make us a great chocolate mountain cake. Stephanie made the birthday mountain chocolate cake and we were able to pick up after they closed. This was a nice and generous offer to bake something on the same day. We keep trying this place hoping we would have a better experience, but unfortunately it just doesn't hit the spot. The women who worked the front counter(and also bakery) is super sweet and made it a better experience. But the food was no good, except the fries maybe. My husband got the fish and chips and the fish was over cooked in old oil. I got the Philly cheese steak sandwich, which was okay, but there wasn't a lot of meat, and it was just sub par. We got our daughter a children's grilled cheese and the bread was extremely stale and non edible. For the desserts, The monkey bread is just okay, don't really understand the rave. The brownies and lemon squares are also nothing special. I was really hoping to like it more. read more

Walked into Shaver Coffee and Grill and got hit with that sweet smell of cinnamon--instantly knew I was in the right place. Didn't snap any pics, but trust me, the smell alone will pull you in. The coffee? Eh, not the best. Probably a 3 out of 5, kind of just basic. But they were one of the few spots open early, so that was a plus. What stood out was the service--super friendly and welcoming. Place was very clean, and there was a decent amount of parking. Now the real star? That cinnamon thing. I have no idea what it's called, but it was like soft dough bites that smelled like graham crackers and cinnamon, kind of like a deconstructed roll. They give you this cream on the side, and man... fire. I'd go back just for that. read more

Came here as a recommendation for the chunky bread. We were welcomed as we came in. They only had full loaves left but were able to accommodate us and cut one in half for a half loaf. What a warm, sweet, cinnamon-y treat after a hike. Recommend trying! read more

Well great location. Spoke with a few locals and they said a good spot for a quick meal, not a full service meal. Got in and great menu. Ordered a hamburger , pastrami, French dip and fries. They all look great and from family tasted good. Now to be honest. Don't order the chili. It looked and tasted like Taco Bell meat. It was beanless. I watched them take it frozen and microwave it repeatedly to get to temperature. Having said that the staff were nice and for November busy. read more

Everything was nice about this place. We were on our way back to Clovis after a wedding at China Peak and decided to stop for lunch. It was busy so it took a bit of time to order at the counter, and the employee at the register warned that it would be a while with several orders ahead of us (lots of fire-fighting going on in the area, and fire crews were on site to have lunch). We ordered a Shaver Burger and onion rings to share--very tasty! Next time I'm going to have to get some "chunky bread"--it smelled and looked so good, and that cream cheese frosting to go with it HAS to be good! read more

After a day of fishing and foraging near Dinkey Creek, I wandered into Shaver Lake looking for a good meal. I stumbled across this humble, inviting little restaurant, but when I tried the door, it was locked. Just as I thought all hope was lost, the manager of the deli came to my rescue. She explained they were closed, but when I asked if there were any other options in town, she paused -- and then invited me in herself, saying she didn't want me settling for a bad meal somewhere else. She made me one of the best tri-tip sandwiches I've ever had. The bread was perfectly cheesy and toasted, the tri-tip tender and seasoned just right. Even the fries were simple but incredible -- crispy, perfectly seasoned, and clearly made with care. More than the food, though, it was the feeling she gave me. She made me feel welcomed, like I was one of her own. It truly brightened my day in a way I didn't expect, and it's an interaction I'll never forget. I can't recommend this place enough -- for the food, yes, but even more for the kindness and heart behind it. read more

We stop in here a few times, First time was for the pull apart bread it was heavenly still warm from the oven. Then last week coming from Wishon Lake was wanted an ice cream. As a new Shaver Lake resident, I came here after hearing so many amazing things! It is also my birthday today and I walked in and was greeted by the sweetest and warmest smile from Stephanie behind the ice cream/coffee bar! We gave Stephanie our coffee orders and she let us know that she makes them each one by one and it would take her some time but she makes them with love!! Once Stephanie learned it was my birthday, she made my coffee first, brought the staff to me and they sang me happy birthday with a candle in the straw holder! I felt SO SPECIAL!!! We took the coffees and brought them back to the house for everybody to enjoy and they all said the coffees were AMAZING! Stephanie, you are a gem. I was intrigued by the "World Famous chunky bread" there was much more then that deliciousness that made the visit special. The crew was so nice and recommended some great things. This review is solely based on one item that I seek out whenever my family and I go on our yearly camping at nearby Camp Edison: Monkey Bread. Although they do sell coffee, sandwiches, etc, I feel the popular item in the store is their Chunky Bread (aka Monkey Bread). Looks like mashed up pillsbury cinnamon rolls that you can pull apart for easy consumption. Bread will pair well with your favorite hot beverage. This place is a must visit when in the Shaver Lake area. read more

Thanks for the ongoing food and meals out of Norms deli in Shaver Lake. The employees are busy with orders and are ready to add your order. They have local treats and memories to buy here too. I always stop by this place when I'm in shaver whether it's to get some monkey bread (you have to warm it up but it's delicious when warm) or some food. I normally get a burger which is good but I finally tried the Ruben sandwich and I think that's my go to now. The Onion Rings are also an item that I can really recommend as they taste like they are freshly battered then fried. The people are also very kind here so it makes it easy to return and give them business. read more

I've had quite the build-up to my first visit to this place. Only took me 15+ years to actually stop and try this "chunky bread." I'm talking years and years and years of "OMG soooooo good" and "you HAVE to stop someday." Well the first part to my visit was my fault. There are two sets of doors that look like front doors. The left set is locked, but it's still marked like it's the front door. Save yourself the hassle and skip the porch on the left. It was good. Seemed very plain. Dough-y knots with some caramel/cinnamon gunk. Good enough to rave about? Maybe- if you can't bake... All I've heard about is this chunky bread for some time. Maybe next time I'll try something else. Covid-19 phase: Great place! My mom and went in. They had chunky cinnamon bread. She had them cut a large piece. They had no problem with that. We got that, gum, diet Colas and Baked chips.
