We arrived at 7 pm and were served our entree after 8 pm, difficult to understand when there were two other tables already there being served. The food was disappointing, boring, and as you may have concluded, it was slow coming to the table. The oysters lacked flavor, seasoning and were oily. The pork chop, which was promised to be moist, turned out tough. Alan, who ordered a medium tenderloin, got it rare and enjoyed it. So at least one of us was delightedly surprised. We wouldn't return, but the waitresses were friendly and the dining room was peaceful. read more

Was here 20 or so years ago for my birthday so I was so looking forward having another great meal. Did not happen. Had to hunt down someone to seat me. I was alone and put in a corner in a very small table, place had plenty of empty tables. Ordered the three course dinner, had a very, very spicy steak, undercooked potatoes, asparagus, carrots. Steak was cooked perfectly! Too bad I could only eat half of it, my mouth was burning. Dessert was good but not exceptional as I expected, not enough ice cream for my cobbler. I was very disappointed in this almost $50 meal! Try The Depot, it was excellent!! read more

Lunch today in the Pub was delicious. Two of us shared the tomato soup, house salad and fried oysters. The salad was outstanding with a lovely vinaigrette, pickled cranberries, feta and candied nuts that were fantastic. The oysters arrived hot and crispy with a well balanced mayo on the side. I added the House pickles which elevated the oysters to perfect! The tomato soup was a little too acidic for us and could use a few croutons. A glass of Viognier paired well will this light lunch. On a sunny day you can enjoy lunch on the deck. On a cold rainy day you can play shuffleboard or billiards inside. On an earlier visit we had the chicken sandwich and jambalaya which were both very tasty. The kitchen here is definitely getting themselves together after the change in management. A walk through the garden is a perfect way to end your visit. read more

Stopped for a late lunch, Sunday afternoon after walking along the beach and exploring lighthouses. We were craving a crab-louie type meal, the chef graciously made us a crab-topped caesar that was perfect! Served with herbed bread and ice tea, it was perfect for our mid-day re-fuel. Good price, friendly service and a nice quantity of crab. We ate in the bar and felt like we were locals, not tourists. read more

We love this place. We visit every time we come to the area and have never had a bad meal. David, the owner, is a delightful guy who really cares about his guests. Our lunch yesterday was great. My Caesar had nice crumbles of good Parmesan, not the pre-grated stuff from a bag. I liked the mussel chowder. The kids split the elk burger and thought it was more flavorful than a normal burger. Our first visit to this establishment was great in 2013. We enjoyed the atmosphere and food. We had such a nice experience that we decided to take our relatives there for brunch yesterday. That was a mistake. We arrived before 10:30 and waited for about 20 minutes before being noticed. When we were noticed, the waitress asked if we had a reservation - which we didn't. They quickly got us a table and we were seated within a couple of minutes. The waitress we noticed was very flustered and between yelling in the kitchen or shouting demands at a fellow co-worker, we ordered our coffee and food. The co-worker was pleasant and hard working. She should have been the waitress. The food was not the excellent quality we have had previously. The "DDD" scramble was nothing more than a couple of eggs scrambled with cheese and a few flakes of smoked salmon put on top. It was supposed to come with roasted potatoes which was more like a small single red potato, diced and cooked. Other patrons were complaining about the quality of the scrambles as well. The other dishes we ordered were French toast and the Shellburne Standard (bacon and eggs). The French toast was mediocre. The Shelburne Standard was actually good. Bacon and eggs were tasty. After our meal was complete, the waitress brought the check and then when there were two mistakes on it, she fixed it, but blamed having so many patrons. Then she went into the kitchen exclaiming how busy it had been. For a Sunday brunch, I would have expected that restaurant to have served at least double that many people. If 100 patrons makes your restaurant that crazy busy, you should hire more employees or have the restaurant as "by reservation only". Just a simple sorry would have been sufficient. The waitress was very unprofessional and for that reason we will not return to this restaurant. Our money could have been better spent elsewhere. I was very disappointed because I was looking for the experience we had a couple of years ago. I must have been mistaken. read more

We started off ordering a bottle of Horse Heaven Hills- none to be found and the Mt Baker Oyster Wine was recommended as a replacement- not even close. We started with crab/ shrimp cakes and French onion soup. The cakes were good, more shrimp than crab and the fish roe added a crunchy briny bite. The soup was the star of the meal. While the onions could have caramelized more for my taste, it was good. Next hubby ordered a hamburger with blue cheese. I thought about the mushroom burger, but went with the shrimp melt. Hubby was served the mushroom burger and after three bites he asked where the meat was... Oops. My shrimp melt....Why does a chef think they need to pair delicate bay shrimp with jalapeños? I thought I would try....Desert and sea.. No, no, no! A lite jalapeño touch sent my lips burning...couldn't have been lite. What is wrong with tarragon, or other herb? Jalapeños just seems so wrong! The shelburne is a great restaurant and pub, with friendly service and inviting decor. looked to be the local hangout for a bit older than we are crowd, but everyone was really nice. the restaurant does have a very strong "sea" smell when you walk in and it was a little off putting for me at first. However, the service, the drinks, and the food were all so far above par and great, that i soon forgot the smell of the sea and was on my way to a great evening dinner with my husband. Jerry makes amazing jalapeno and pineapple margaritas! Chef Cedar was doing amazing work with some fresh caught Chinook and sea beans. the only thing i have to say i did not like was the creme brulee. It tasted too thick and not like custard but rather a vanilla pudding. ick. Other than that, Ian, our server was amazing and our view and table and the timing of the food coming out was perfect. I had high hopes for this restaurant just from reading other reviews. But, my husband and I dined here our last night in Longbeach and just thought it was ok. The place is awesome inside as far as history and ambience. The staff very friendly and attentive. But, the food was very mediocre for the price you pay. I had oysters , the french onion soup and crab ravioli. The oysters we baked with spinach and some type of white sauce. The sauce overpowered the beautiful oysters. The french onion soup was very good but came out SO hot it would take half an hour to cool down enough to eat it. And the crab ravioli were good but nothing special. My husband had the muscle app which was very good. The clam chowder which was also good and then the ciopioli? Seafood stew which he also liked. It's not bad food it's just not the upscale restaurant it tries to be. Maybe the pub fare would have been better. read more

We went there for valentines day. It had a good atmosphere and an excellent piano player that night for a great mood. The gold potato appetizer has real gold leaf on top. It was amazing! The French onion soup was equally as good. My filet was soft and flavorful- loved it. BUT my poor husbands dinner was awful. The seafood bouillabaisse was horrific. It had a way too smoky flavor and the sauce was terrible. It was pretty much inedible. They were pretty busy and so no one greeted us when we got there. The bartenders saw us and didn't acknowledge us or say anything like "can we help you? " Or "we are really busy and someone will be with you in a moment". They just ignored us and we had to walk around until we found someone to help us. If my husbands meal was good and they acknowledged you at the door I would have given it 5 stars. The wait staff was good but our server didn't know anything about the appetizers so we didn't order them as we didn't feel comfortable with what they were really going to be. Good place. Just needs a bit more work. Has a lot of potential to be amazing. read more

We went to dinner Thursday night. Great food, nice atmosphere, and awesome patrons. Only thing that was lacking was the service. We waited to receive menus for 30 minutes, even when we had asked them multiple times for them. Once the food and drink was ordered it came in a timely manor. But once we wanted to pay, I had to go up to the bar to get the check and pay the bill. The restaurant was not busy so I was very curious to why the service was so slow. read more

We really enjoyed this restaurant's food. Plus, they had outdoor seating on their deck overlooking a fantastic garden where they harvest their own herbs. We hard through our hotel that they allowed dogs as long as we sat on the deck, which was perfectly fine for us. The wait staff were super helpful and attentive. Unique restaurant in the oldest Inn in Washington. David, the owner and cook, gathers the local mushrooms himself. The omelets and breakfast food were delicious - the best we had in our 7 day trip in Washington. Highly recommended! One not to be missed. We had a good lunch with good service. The wine list is about as good as you can hope for in this area. The prices are a little high, in my opinion, but not outrageously so. We found a decent sauvignon blanc for a good price. It went with my clam linguine and my wife's chicken pot pie. They were both good though entrees ranged from $15-$22. We had a rhubarb crisp for dessert. It was a lunch with excellent food but a little spendy. Before tip we were at $75. We agreed that we were glad we chose to have lunch there. read more

Totally recommend having a meal (and spending a night here, IF you can afford it). Our lunch was delicious. We had the calamari with puttanesca sauce on linguini and the spinach hazelnut salad. We sat in the bar with all of the lovely stained glass windows and can imagine that the garden would be charming in warmer months. We had a fantastic meal at this restaurant inn. The atmosphere was great with a fantastic piano player and very nice wine. The food was superb. We had the razor clams, spinach salad, cauliflower and cioppino. The cioppino was the best we've ever had with great shellfish and nice spicy taste. Try this place. You'll love it. read more

Stumbled onto the Shelbourne on a quest for a nice meal and ended up having breakfast, lunch and a dinner. The eggs Benedict was perfectly cooked with a lovely wild mushroom sauce. For lunch, we ordered the fish and chips, one cod and the other halibut. We asked if they had onion rings instead of fries and the waiter said unfortunately not. Shortly after our order was taken, the chef appeared at our table and apologized that the halibut had not been delivered but he had fresh sea bass that he could substitute. When our order arrived, the chef surprised us with homemade onion rings as well as fries. The sea bass was the best fish and chips I've ever had and the sweet onion rings were in a light tempura batter that was devine. When we returned for dinner/happy hour, the tomato basil soup with blue cheese was the star of the meal. If it's on the menu, be sure to order it! read more

Quite by accident, while searching for a place to get a meal at 2pm on Sunday in Long Beach, WA, we discovered this relaxing, picturesque location. After trying two other places that we were referred to and found to be closed, we followed a recommendation to go to the Shelburne Pub and Restaurant. When I heard "pub" I expected your typical bar with bar food...fried or burgers. Much to my great surprise, the restaurant area was a lovely EuroAmerican style resplendent with white tablecloths and small romantic connecting rooms in which to dine. The "pub" section was also wonderful. Lovely wood carved high back chairs surround the 3 sided bar. Outside is a patio which was bathed in sunlight and several tables at which to dine, some had shade as well. My fiance requested the sole table in the adjoining garden set just down a few steps from the outdoor dining area...oh so romantic. We were greeted by the lovely pearl from an oyster, Teresa - a CA transplant who came to visit and then stayed. From the infused water - served readily, to the Bloody Mary complete with asparagus, olives and a rim trimmed in a celery salt, pepper and other tasty seasonings, to the crab Chile Relleno and the battered fish and chips, the meal was superb. Also, I have to note the savory and almost sweet Caesar salad. The greens tasted like they had been fresh picked and the dressing served on the side at our request was savory...Yum! Our server, Teresa, gave us just the right amount of attention and was lovely and professional. After we enjoyed this romantic surprise, and we were set to leave, we met the proprietor, David, and felt as if we had found another pearl in this oyster quite literally by the sea. David was warm and welcoming. We are seriously considering having a small and intimate commitment ceremony at this fantastic find. Without a doubt we will return to the Shelburne Pub and Restaurant each time we return to Long Beach, WA which may be more often now. read more
