This is my 2nd bad review in about 5 years. I'm sorry for the business owner but I feel it is important for you to know. 1) wait times are a little ridiculous when you have open tables. Yesterday's wait time was about 40 min. 2) your host the female takes her job way to seriously. Wanted us to space ourselves like 12ft apart. I was asked to keep my mask on after being seated and wait until after she brought us water to remove my mask???? 8 months prego btw. Ummm what? 3) food is beyond greasy. Ordered the fried pickles, chicken sandwich, and fish and chips. Pickles had a pool of grease at the bottom. Chicken sandwich had no chicken and all breading, and my husband couldn't eat the fish due to the ungodly grease. 4)server seemed overwhelmed and therefore we never got silverware or napkins. Half way through our meal we flagged someone down for napkins. Once we got our meal which was about 35-40 min, we didn't see our server u til the end of our meal almost. I felt the patrons were treated like children at the line. People being told to put their masks up higher when we are in open space, outdoors, and well beyond 6feet. First time at this establishment. Staff is super friendly and accommodating. Although, we had to tell them we wanted menus. Live music on a Saturday is a plus. The food was pretty good and the price was reasonable. However, the men and women share a bathroom not a single bathroom for all that's one person at a time, but an open area. This place needs to be on Bar rescue. I asked 4 different employees if they had happy hour and no one knew. Finally our server comes to our table to take our order and I asked him about happy hour, he told me they do but he thinks it's at a later time. How is it that I asked 5 people a simple question and no one knew the answer to it. We ordered Irish nachos and got chili cheese fries. Slow service and it wasn't even that busy. The bathroom is DISGUSTING! Smells like urine and was extremely dirty. Given the current state the world is in you would think they would keep the bathrooms clean. Especially if it's not even that busy. No excuse. I've given this place one too many chances. Moving forward I'd rather wait the extra hour or so to be seated at the Yard house or Tequila Jacks. I love this place. The bouncer is chill and a friend of mine. The live music here is always great. The bartenders are really friendly too, especially Ashley! I have been coming here religiously every Friday night for the past 6 months. I enjoy this place and have recommended it to tons of international travelers. My one star goes for the fact that not once but twice we have been charged for drinks we did not have. Last night I argued with the girl that I only had 3 beers and my husband had 4. She charged us for 4 rounds. I insisted that I only had 3 drinks as we were keeping track due to the last time we were overcharged. She said the following "I'm the sober one here, you had 4 beers" I didn't think that was very nice as I definitely was not drunk after 3 beers. I guess I'll just have to pay after each round in-stead of keeping my tab open. read more

Food is hit and miss. If it's good it's on, if it's a bad day in the kitchen it shows on the plate. I love the Costello weap but a week ago, the plate was greasey, chiken was not siced and it wrap fell apart. I've had it a few times and know it cam be much better. I used to hold Shenanigans in such a high rating in the past, but they have fallen so far from the top as of last night. While ordering a Crown Royal on the rocks we were charged $2 extra for the ice!!!! Really?!?!? I can see if I had ordered an extra glass of ice, but this is a cocktail request!! My family and I were walking by the beach and decided to stop by this restaurant because we saw people eating their fish and chips and it looked so delicious. As we walked in, I went to see the hostess and they told me that we could just sit anywhere. We sat at the outside seating. Someone gave us the menu right away and took our drink orders. After a short while, our server came to our table and took our orders. My husband and I ordered the fish and chips, my son ordered the chicken nuggets, and my other son ordered the shepherds pie. I also ordered a bowl of clam chowder. Our order came after 15 minutes. The spoon that came with the shepherds pie was so dirty. I had to ask the waiter to exchange the spoon for us. The spoon that came with the soup was extremely dirty. There were traces of food from the last person who used it. I had to stand up and ask them for another spoon. We had to ask for napkins from our waiter because we did not have any on our table. As soon as I saw the dirty spoons, I was just so disgusted and lost my appetite. The food was fair. Temperature was good. But if you ask me, I will not come back to this restaurant anymore. It is very dirty. read more

A big disapointment this place is as far as food goes. I ordered the corned beef and potatoes with eggs and a side of garlic fries. The fries are extremely dried tossed in chopped garlic. No seasoning either. The corned beef is a very small portion and its very bland. The only good part of my meal was the egg. But seriously who can messed up eggs.... Definitely not worth the price. My friend ordered the portabello mushroom burger and she said it was also dry. Very flavorless and stale bread. No sauce at all. The service is ok. Seems like they take care more of their regulars than others... I guess that's natural everywhere. The place is good if you're here to drink with lots of friends. We've found our new favorite Brunch place! We were searching for bottomless mimosas & came across this place. On Saturday, they offered $12 bottomless mimosas (plus $5 Bloody Mary's if champs is not your thing) until 1pm with a food order. We were worried about the food due to other Yelp reviews but the breakfast menu (breakfast is until noon) has tons of yummy offerings PLUS everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The service was amazing! Our server, Scott, did a great job. He kept our mimosas flowing & was supper nice, friendly, and knowledgeable. The front patio had fans, so even though it was such a hot day, we remained cool outdoors. Dogs are permitted on the patio & if you love doggies, there will be an amazing amount of cute dogs hanging around being adorable. If dogs aren't your thing (how is that even possible?!), Shenanigans has a list of "dog rules" and insists on well-behaved pups. All the dogs that were there, were very sweet & stayed close to their owners without bothering any other guests. This place is a gem & a great hangout for Saturday brunch. read more

It had 6 little itty bitty soggy, very plain tasting calamaris. Would guess that it was microwave calamari. 2 buffalo wings, a bbq wing. Very nasty chicken must I add.2 slices of chicken strips that also tasted like it was microwave made and preped and 1 little ball that was a fried mashed potatoes. 3 dried up carrots strips and 3 celery sticks. My boyfriend and I are from out of town, and we were visiting Long Beach. We wanted to eat at a local place and stopped here because we were getting a bit hangry. It was seat yourself seating, which is fine but can be tricky sometimes because the waitstaff doesn't always see you. Our waitress did see us sit down and basically slapped down the menus in front of us before walking away. She came back a few minutes later to take our drink order, and she took a bit to come back with those. Not once during the meal did she ask if we wanted refills. After our drink order, she walked away for a few minutes and then came again to take our food order. We waited quite a bit of time to get our food delivered to us by a different person (who I would guess is the cook). It took forever for the waitress to take the bill even though she delivered it before we were even done eating. She was kind of unfriendly and inattentive throughout the meal. The food was mediocre especially for the price. My boyfriend had the grilled cheese and it was just okay; not the worst or the best. I had the chicken sandwich which was also okay and had too much avocado in my opinion. We both unfortunately would not recommend this restaurant to visitors due to this experience. read more

How this is rated at 3 stars blows my mind. No free water unless you order alcohol is ridiculous. Only sells bottled water. The food is plain but I expected it. Needless to say I didn't consume all of the fries. Overpriced for the quality of the burger. Fries were blah. I was sitting with 4 friends and they charge a 18% gratuity to split the bill with is crazy. I ordered one burger and the total ended up at $18 because of gratuity. Did I forget to mention service was bad? I feel like the waiter never checked on the table and we had to go grab them to get the bill. I will most definitely never return. My experience here was extremely poor when I expected average at best. Pretty glad I didn't give them more money by ordering alcohol although maybe it would've made me enjoy the plain food more. read more

We've been here a couple of times now - once during football season when they were really busy and once when the place was pretty much empty. Both times, service was good. On our most recent visit, we ordered a fish sandwich and fish and chips. The sandwich was good but average. The fish that came with the fish and chips was huge! And I was told that it was delicious. The fries (or chips) were cooked perfectly and just how we like them. The location of this place is right on the water in Shoreline Village...can't beat it. I'm not a yelp reviewer but today I ordered take out from Shenanigans and it was amazing! Even after driving home 20 minutes later, the fish and chips and fries were so tasty and seasoned perfectly. I didn't even care it was cold. I also loved there tartar sauce... it must be home-made or something because it was sooo yummy and didn't just taste like normal tartar sauce. We also ordered fried calamari and zucchini which was also great and to top it off we ordered 2 - 32 oz mojitos to go and it was on point with ratio of alcohol, mint and favor. Definitely blown away with this place. I really wish I could have actually sat down and had it fresh but it's a new world so take out will do. read more

I'm a disabled veteran with PTSD and mobility issues. I have a TRAINED service dog who accompanies me to help mitigate my disabilities. I came in just to sit at the bar and have a drink. I was told by the bartender I needed to sit outside with my dog. I asked if bar seating was available, told yes, but that I couldn't sit at the bar because of my dog. I was told by the bartender I needed to sit outside with my dog. I explained he is my service dog who's tasked trained to help with my disabilities and the ADA laws protect us to sit anywhere in the restaurant that's available to the public. She told me it didn't matter because of the health code. Again, I tried to explain that he is not considered a pet, but my service dog, and she can't discriminate on where I sit because if it. The Restaurant Health Codes do not trump federal law when it comes to trained service dogs. I REALLY wish management would understand this and properly train their employees over this matter. She obviously had zero tolerance to even listen to reason and automatically treated me as a nuisance, to which I got extremely upset by her lack of empathy and straight up "I don't give a shit" attitude. I was tired, in pain, and just wanted to sit, relax with a drink while listening to the band. She told me to leave, to which I refused. She then got security to try and escort me out. Again, I refused to leave and was obviously visibly upset. It turned into a power struggle with security as I progressively got more upset, as were they. I then left and asked security if we can just have a conversation about it all. He said it was over now, he didn't care and there's nothing to discuss. Those words upset me even more, so out of response, I cried again, yelled at him saying they're discriminating against a disabled vet. I was then practically laughed at as he told me he was a veteran too and I was being ridiculous (or something to that affect) "pulling that card." Just FYI, I was not looking to pull any card or act like a Karen, but rather just felt like my rights really were violated and was again just visibly upset by how mean the staff was. When people are unfamiliar with the laws, and don't want to even listen to reason because they think they know better, it's very heavy, disheartening, upsetting, and kicks the disabled when they're already down, especially because it happens WAY more than it should. I'm not trying to pull any cards or looking for special treatment or sympathy, it's just really sad when business don't know the ADA laws or what this type of treatment does to someone's mental health when we're already struggling. It happens way more than it should. Take time to listen, to be kind and to educate your employees on the laws regarding the disabled, service dogs and the ADA. Yeah, I'll NEVER come here again. EVER. I'd been here several times when it was 33 Degrees. Now it's Shenanigans. My buddy Eric and I walked in, no one greeted us, we found a seat and eventually our server came over. She NEVER smiled upon reaching the table and the ONE time she did smile was after we had ordered a couple beers and I asked her if she wanted my card to keep the tab open, she said, "Honey, I can run faster than you.". Wow. How offensive is that? I may be overweight, but at least I don't treat people like Sh!t. Overall, my server had a horrible attitude. Rolled her eyes when I asked for a list of their beers. Really? I like to try new beers and want time to "shop". We ordered one beer each and got the hell out of there. It was the WORST service I've EVER received. I'll NEVER go back. read more

I came here for brunch on January 31, 2016. I was joined by at least twenty other people. They continued to accommodate the party as it grew and grew, in honor of one of my good friends who had been having a tough time lately. We all had the bottomless mimosas, which were very good and very strong. We all ordered breakfast as well. I had the corned beef hash and eggs and we ordered the potato pancakes with the two dipping sauces (one was apple sauce, and I think the other sour cream?) It was a seemingly strange mix, but it was so good! The service was polite, prompt, and efficient, even with the growing number of our party. We had been there for two hours and were finishing breakfast and the mimosas had really started to set in. At noon, I had the pleasure of watching as my best friend's boyfriend proposed to her on the dock outside the back of the restaurant! It was a beautiful scene of which I have many pictures. I found out later the restaurant had been given notice a week before so that they knew. They were very helpful and very excited. Because it was her dream to elope, the restaurant did not kick us out when we took the bathroom hostage to get her ready for her wedding which was in less than an hour! It was a super cool experience and I will remember the hospitality of this place always. I am sure they were glad to have been a part of it. I certainly was. read more

We are periodically required to come here for a variety of reasons. Without fail, the food arrives and it always looks utterly disgusting. Today they served the following items: Chicken wings - these were sort of an odd, pale red color. Taste was alright. Corned Beef Sliders - uninspired. Canned corned beef on pre-packaged mini slider buns. Waffle Fries "Irish Style" - served with beans and chili and jalepenos?! That, combined with the smell of dead fish, and flies buzzing around the door to the kitchen, means that I will never again take a bite of food from here. read more

I sent this email September 28,2019 and no response. Theresa Rosczewski, My Wife, Sister, Best Friend, his wife, and I met at your establishment last night for a few drinks. Our night at your bar started out great with Sue and Steve your doorman and we enjoyed the atmosphere your establishment had to offer. Towards the end of the night we ordered a few drinks for us to make our way through. When last call came about we spoke to Sue and paid up our order. That's when things got a little awkward between us and your night manager Denise. She told us we had to be out in 10 mins after last call had been made at 0130. My Sister and I tried to ask her if the law had changed and why we being asked to leave so soon. Most bars do not serve alcohol after 2 am under the current law instituted in 1935. We had intended to sit there quietly, as we had all night and talk amongst ourselves as we finished our drinks. I was upset as I work for our military in the United Kingdom and only get a few days a year to have a chance to visit my family. My wife and I flew back to California early this year as my Great Grandmother was diagnosed with cancer. If I had known that at the end of the night after we had already paid for alcohol we were going to be asked to leave 20 minutes before the law required we would have chosen another establishment. Denise did not like being challenged on whether she was following the law or not. I was not challenging her out of spite, she would not see reason or hear our story. At 1:46 after she had enough, she proceeded to dump our drinks (4 drinks ordered at last call). She grabbed my drink from my hand forcibly and dumped it in the sink. While speaking to her she became easily upset by the fact we were asking her legitimate questions. We were not challenging her right as the manager just our time to hang out and further enjoy Shenanigans the cute little pub atmosphere in Long Beach. We spoke to Steve and he was extremely sympathetic. As our drinks had now been tossed I asked the young manager her name. She firmly told me,"Denise". I thanked Sue for her service that evening and told Denise we would be in contact with the bar. The only thing of value to me is my time and when people try to take that from me it does upset me. I get 30 days a year to see family and this year I had even less due to work. I have had 15 days this year to spend with my family and 1 of those 15 nights to drink with my baby sister. She just finished joining the military as well and this was my chance to spend some time with her. If this is how Shenanigans chooses to treat the military and their family members then we will make sure others know to not expect a welcome atmosphere at Shenanigans. I'm sure this doesn't normally happen but I wanted to give you the opportunity to fix the situation and prevent future occurrences.
