Recently, I bought a dress for my wedding and I took it to a bridal tailor who charged me a ridiculous amount and barely did anything. After much crying and pessimism about ethical businesses, I took it to Shermi who said "this is easy honey" and fixed it in 2 days. If something isn't perfect, she'll do her best to fix it. She is not only capable but kind, honest, and her hours are very flexible. In this crazy world it's very comforting to work with someone who is skilled and fair. BEST EVER!!!!! BEST PRICES EVER!!!!!!!! This is my first time going there. I needed a skirt fixed in Emerrgency. She got it fixed in literally 24 hours. Not to mention the skirt itself was silk with lace and the lace was on both sides, so just a tiny little wrong move, and the skirt would have been destroyed! Mind you ,the speed of the service (24h) the moment I went to pick it up and tried it on it was exceptional work done!!! I was completely shocked that I did not have to claim not even a tiny bit of adjustment more. She is pure talent and so easy to deal with ,so professional and so fast like I've never seen anywhere so far.! Not to mention the price is incredible! I am truly not one to write bad reviews but I left this shop extremely upset and disappointed and spoke to a few others who had this experience with Shermi and felt like I needed to share. From the first time I visited this shop Shermi was aggressive with me in her tone when I asked for a better price one time since I brought in about 5 items. She insisted I go other places about 10 times aggressively for no reason and I told her it was fine I was okay with working with her as I am on a time crunch and was open to giving it a try. I came back to pick up my clothes, one of them being an expensive dress that she didn't complete the job, I calmly voiced my concerns and she immediately started attacking me and making up 100 excuses blaming it on me. I am a paying customer and she was making me feel like a victim for asking to shorten the lining on the dress which she forgot to do after telling me she is a dress maker repeatedly during the first appointment. Aside from all this she was extremely unprofessional, she wouldn't let me speak, and she was trying to turn everything around on me. I truly couldn't believe it. I had a sari blouse from a trip to India 10 years ago that is now too small for me but I wanted to wear it to a friend's upcoming wedding. Absolutely Terrible - Stay Away! Shermi is hands down the worst tailor I have ever dealt with. For some reason, my wife, my mother, and I kept giving her chances, but every single time, she delivered terrible work. The stitching is sloppy, the alterations are never right, and the worst part? She never delivers on time. Every job comes with endless delays, broken promises, and unnecessary stress. But what really crossed the line was her disrespectful and disgusting attitude. While I was there, she had the nerve to talk badly about my wife, making a snide comment: "Good luck with your wife." That is beyond unprofessional--it's outright unacceptable. To make things even worse, when I went to pick up my wife's belongings, she tried to overcharge me. Instead of owning up to her mistakes, she attempted to squeeze more money out of me, as if I hadn't already dealt with enough stress from her incompetence. I strongly urge everyone in the community to stop supporting her business. She is unreliable, disrespectful, and completely unworthy of anyone's time or money. I'm reading the reviews and I'm shocked at the negativity. I've been going to Shermi for years and she's always killed the tailoring on some pretty hard jobs I must say. Gowns are her specialty and she's always done an amazing job with multiple tailoring jobs of mine. She's always been super nice and if she needs more time then she always apologizes and says so. Shermi does a decent job - nothing extraordinary - and charges relatively fair prices which is why I give her two stars and not one. She does sometimes inexplicably charge you more than others... after being a loyal customer for two years I stopped taking my clothes there, because she rarely completes the work in the time she says she will. She gets around any real commitment by telling you to call on the promised day (on her cell phone, not her listed number, which she apparently ignores). She has been using the pandemic as her excuse since it began, here we are over a year later. If she misses the initial date she will sometimes even miss the backup date, regardless of how important you tell her it is. Most irritating is that she is utterly unaccountable when you call her out on not delivery on time etc. She gets loud and argumentative, never apologizes for inconveniencing you. Shermi is clearly so busy she turns work away. I called her to tell her I'd be stopping by with pieces to alter, and she confirmed she'd be in her shop all day. I told her I'd be there in a couple of hours. When I arrived two hours after our call, she told me to just leave the pieces without trying them on. I explained that i couldn't do that and needed to show her something I was concerned about. She literally told me she was heating up her lunch and that I couldn't 'just show up.' WHAT? I spoke to you on the phone a very little while ago. I wish she had saved me the hassle of driving to her shop from Venice for literally nothing. She could have warned me she takes a very serious lunch break, rather than telling me she would be available and working all day. And for the record, Shermi did not refuse my job. Shermi is a perfect example where legality and ethics/good character traits are starkly contrasted. Yes, she did work for me and yes it was fine BUT she treated me and my friend with an absolute respect for myself and my body. If she is in tailoring she should know to be more respectful or at not lob insensitive and downright rude comments. Shermi you should know by now that especially in business if you have nothing nice to say... If your planning on getting alterations and need to go in for fittings just be aware that if there is another customer that is paying more even if you have been confirmed and scheduled and you drove a half hour I traffic it doesn't matter at all to Shermi. She did not even have the courtesy to call me and tell me that she took another job and will not have order ready. I had confirmed with her in the morning that we were on time for scheduling. Shermi tailoring is a great place to come and get your your clothes hemmed, they are very busy so building a rapport is essential. I would suggest bringing things in when you are not on a time schedule. The location near the studios puts Shermi at a great advantage as she gets a lot of brines from the stylist in the area.
