Good food and price for Omakase in NYC. In Chinatown! We arrived a little early for our meal, so they directed us downstairs to their sake bar where they mix drinks made with their own house-made sake. This is the same sake that they included with the Omakase selection upstairs. I had a small issue with our reservation, they thought that we had ordered a lesser option, so we ended up with one EXTRA serving of fish that was on the cheaper option, which I think I may have enjoyed MORE than its substitution. Both were excellent, but one just had a little different flavor. It is a small bar area, with room for around 4 reasonably sized reservations. And it's easy to forget that you're in the big city while enjoying dinner. I did find it funny when they added gold dust to some sushi, when they saw that I was taking a photo, they put some extra on for an extra "shiny" photo. Some unposted videos were taken that showed this better, but it was a great experience.

Very cool concept in that this is an Omakase place behind ice cream shop. I saw a TikTok. I wanted to try it out. There were only a few tables and the rest is mostly bar seating. We had a reservation around opening time and we're the only ones there. The Omakasa here is different and that they start with their fusion items before bringing out the sashimi. I'm personally not the biggest fan of this because you constantly need to cleanse your pallet from the salt and other toppings that they are adding. I also felt like the fish was a little bit Fisher than my preference for an Omakase. The black sesame ice cream at the end was very delicious though.

Great omakase in Chinatown that has goals to include a speakeasy in the basement and an ice cream parlor in the front! We came as a party of five and chose the 17 course menu for around 150. They have great fun atmosphere and unlimited free sake with very friendly service. It is different from other omakase places in that they offer a lot of small plates like oyster with ikura, snails, squid, clam. The fish is fresh and changes based on what gets shipped in so there are definitely more unique options here. We finished off with a great lychee ice cream. I'm glad I tried it. Definitely better than many other omakase places but Sushi Ishikawa is still my favorite as I feel that the pieces were more unique and had melt in your mouth as well as omg this is amazing feel.

I had my birthday dinner here a couple weeks ago and I couldn't have been happier. My partner and I got the higher tier omakase. Every piece was exceptional, creative, and absolutely delicious. Some of the pieces just melted in our mouths and we were in food heaven. We drove in from NJ and had omakase at other places before, but shhh stood out the most to us. The combination of fish and different, intrinsic flavors just adds so much depth to each plate. The black sesame soft service ice cream at the end was the perfect, refreshing dessert to end the meal. We left feeling very happy and full. The service was phenomenal and the owner treated us like family. They gave special attention to us and it was an intimate experience. We even stayed after our meal was over to have some more drinks. The interior is very cozy and beautiful ambiance. We will definitely be back! (D&D) I have more photos but I maxed out on the capacity I can upload here... still remembering the flavors and tastes as I'm looking at the photos again!

What makes this omakase unique is its diverse menu. From sea snails to conch to toasted black cod, each course is strong. An enjoyable experience, although it would have been nice if they could explain each dish a bit more clearly, sometimes I wasn't exactly sure what I was eating. The ambiance is also unique in that is trendy and modern.

Incredibly friendly, attentive, and informative service. The ambiance and vibes were perfect. Unlimited sake meant everything was fun and upbeat. The omakase itself was superb. One of the most unique and inventive omakase meals I have had, and the fact it was had at such a reasonable price is amazing. I will be coming back a lot, I can't wait to recommend this place to all my friends.

We went to shhh omakase for my friend's birthday. They promised unlimited sake, and they made sure our bottle was never empty. The staff was friendly, and it was overall a fun vibe fit for a birthday dinner. They also accommodated my shellfish allergy. The pieces that we got, although not mind-blowing, were good. I would recommend for birthday dinners on a Friday night!

Came here for a post Valentine's Day dinner and it did not disappoint! A speakeasy sushi spot that is hidden behind an ice cream shop. Space is tight and cozy and seats about 12 people. We opted for the 18 course omakase at $158 pp and it did not disappoint. Chef Jason was amazing in creating each course. Couldn't pick a favorite because they were all exceptional and delicious. The fish is flown in from Japan and the west coast. It is so fresh that it melts in your mouth. The unlimited sake was also a nice touch. Definitely will be back.

What a wonderful evening of Omakase with friends! Itamae Jason's omakase was absolutely enjoyable. Our server Kat was nice and attentive. She made sure our complimentary house sake was always flowing. It was hard to pick a favorite, as each omakase had a different texture and taste that I enjoyed. For example, the Hokkaido Scallop and Ikura. The scallops were sliced, what a difference in texture and taste. Delicate and not briny. The pickled ginger was cut in cubes vs the traditional slices. So much juicier to the bite, quite gratifying. The slicing, dicing, cutting techniques really does affect flavors and textures. I think I had tasted succulent, slimmy, crunchy, fresh, pickled, tender, velvety, smoky and balance of sweet, sour and salty. Would highly recommend to friends

IG: @mrtravelfoodie @shhhomakasenyc is a hot new spot that just opened up in LES! If you're looking for a great spot for date night or to enjoy a quality meal, you've found it. Shhh Omakase offers a 14 or 18 course omakase option for you to eat till your stomach is content. This place gave some speakeasy vibes as the front was a ice cream shop and when you go through the door inside, it takes you into a beautifully decorated and intimate chef's counter. A few of my favorites for the night: - Otoro w/ black truffle paste - Chutoro w/ sweet onion - Hotate w/ Ikura - Kumamoto Oyster w/ quail egg and ikura Honestly, every dish was crafted to perfection and tasted amazing! Thank you for having me as a guest. Chris, Jason, and Eason all made the experience incredible. Book your spot now so you can enjoy it for yourself!

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.

The katsu was very, very moist on the inside, with a crispy batter that was so light it was almost flavorless. I honestly couldn't really tell the difference between the tenderloin and pork loin. Overall the dish had a very light flavor and I added quite a bit of sauce and wasabi. Some of the less memorable dishes were the eggplant agebitashi and truffle rice. The eggplant agebitashi tasted like a cross between an eggplant parm and a bolognese. The truffle rice had a very strong truffle flavor that ended up overpowering everything else in the dish. I thought the slices of raw button mushrooms were a little strange. I really enjoyed the sabazushi. The pieces of mackerel were thick and carried a lot of that characteristic mackerel oily flavor, but the oiliness was cut by enough vinegar to balance everything out. The niku udon was also a surprise hit. The noodles were wide, flat, super slurpy, and the broth carried a deep umami flavor. Overall, I had a pretty solid experience here.
