I stopped in for a solo brunch as I often do at different places. I was seated very quickly and ordered a mimosa. The waitress was friendly and didn't linger as she saw that I was reading. The omelette I ordered looks mediocre BUT the flavor was EXCELLENT!!! They did so well on both the omelette and the French toast. I was very impressed. Amazing French toast combos! Normally, I don't finish the sweet portion but today was a different day with this place. I stuffed myself it was THAT GOOD! The coffee was good as well. Assorted creamers are placed at the table for selection choices. Now the Gym Bro was definitely packed! The only thing it lacked was seasoned potatoes. It's a healthier option so my guess is they didn't want to season it too much but a little more pizzaz and that bowl would be 10/10. I'll definitely be back to sample to rest of the menu ! read more

Went on a Sunday for brunch with friends and this place was great! The extensive menu meant everyone could get something they liked and the generous portion sizes meant everyone left very full and very happy. I got the gym bro bowl and it was really delicious. Although I will say that the potatoes were a bit oily and some were a bit over-fried to the point where they were a little dry/burnt. That being said, I'll definitely be going back and next time I'll be trying some different menu items too! read more

One of the better breakfast spots that's super lowkey- a step above a diner for sure but also gives coney vibes. Their breakfast offerings are HUGE and easily shareable which you'll want to do try some of everything! Their sweet offerings like loaded French toast or pancakes are great to share! First there were the Breakfast Clubs. Then I found Recipes and First Watch, all great breakfast spots. The Shine Cafe may outshine them all. Tucked away in an unassuming strip mall on Rochester Toad and Square Lake, this is an amazing place for breakfast or lunch. I have been here three times and enjoyed it immensely. The Pancakes and French Toasts are the star of the show. The Berry Bliss is my favorite with the pancakes covered in vanilla buttercream. The Cookie Dough French toast is also wonderful. The Omelettes are tender and over filled. Even the salads for lunch are large portions and delicious. They are open until 3 which is great for a breakfast/lunch place. Haven't been here since this place was the Square Lake Diner, and don't need to go back. With a group of 6 (including 2 kids). I ordered the country omelette, which is sausage, cheese, veggies, omelette topped with sausage gravy and coffee. Husband had western omelette (sausage instead of ham) and soda. Before I review my omelette please understand that I'm from the Midwest--i LOVE LOVE LOVE gravy and dairy! Ok: the food: the gravy they put on my omelette was flavorless, and the cook put so much on top that it was actually gross. I literally scraped about 1/8-1/4 cup off. The omelette barely had any sausage or veggies, but was stuffed instead with cheese, to the point that every bite was egg wrapped over ropes of cheese; eggs themselves were over-cooked. I'd ordered whole wheat bread and was given white bread; ordered sliced tomatoes in lieu of the potatoes and was given potatoes. (Btw their potatoes are those cubed frozen potatoes and we're not cooked through). Husband stated that his food was, "ok, it just didn't taste like anything." I will own up: i should have complained and given them a chance to either fix our food, or take things off our bill, but we were exhausted--having driven all night and were running on little sleep. Sans the chorizo, the breakfast menu selection is very similar to Wildberry Pancakes and Cafe in Chicago. The Berry French Toast was amazing with lots of fresh strawberries and blueberries. The Country Breakfast Bowl was very good and hearty but I might get the gravy on the side next time as I felt my arteries clog after each delicious bite. Service was fast and friendly and my coffee cup was attentively refreshed during my meal. Price is about $9-$12 for most of the menu options and I would say their breakfast bowls is enough for two. read more

I've had great omelettes at many places and fair ones too. This was by far the worst ever ! A thin greasy pancake with a few spinach leaves and a few crumbs of feta cheese. The potatoes were cubes deep fried , Not grilled ( I asked ) At almost 15.00 not worth it ! I think McDonald's would have been a better bet . And I never eat there ! I won't go back again .... I don't want to be mean, but I was disappointed after reading good things. First, good stuff: service good, atmosphere and decor good, all the general whatsis was just fine. The noise level was perfect with a packed place, many people talking, but you could hear your own conversation. Now the two stars lost: bad coffee and unpleasant avocado toast. The coffee was very weak. The avocado toast was ice cold. That means it was stuck in the fridge or the avocado was at least. I did not enjoy that icy mouthful at breakfast. The avocado was more pressed flatish than mashed and swimming in balsamic "glaze". The balsamic glaze is not good on avocado. I don't use much salt, but I tasted none on this and avocados need a small amount of salt. It was a nice morning ahead of a nice day and my wife liked her eggs, so three stars and we'll just agree to let bygones be bygones. I wouldn't tell anyone to avoid it but then I don't eat a lot of what is on the menu. read more

Sadly this place didn't meet my expectations. Took my 2 boys here. Ordered breakfast. Nothing great. My middle son ordered Oreo pancakes and loved them; but the issue was the price of the kid's breakfast. 10.00 for kid's pancakes and sausage but the kicker was the kids drink was 4.00!! So 14.00 for the kid's breakfast?!! Ridiculous. It was only about 4-5 oz drink! So absurd! Just for us 3 was 50.00 for breakfast. I had just eggs and bacon! We were excited to try this place because of the menu and pictures. Large portions. Now the crux - the food was kinda nasty - well not kind of, it was. Very overly processed and very expensive. My son did enjoy his standard breakfast. The coffee was awful. My waffle tasted like old grease or lard /Crisco in it. The toppings tasted like they were bought at GFS. How hard is it to make fresh whip cream and/or fried potatoes. Processed cheese and not real cheese on bowls. I tasted my husband and it was nasty also. My sons rewarmed potatoes were cold. $60 bill for 3 breakfasts and 2 of us didn't eat it. I ate the strawberries off the top, that was it. Those were fresh and not frozen. read more

When I checked the menu on here it was from two years ago. So the price has changed a lot. I gave it three stars for the service. This place is absolutely amazing. The menu is huge so I definitely gotta go back and try more dishes but so far it is amazing!! The price is very affordable and both the quality and the quantity of the food are crazy good. Definitely a great brunch and lunch place for groups that can't decide on a place to go because this place has everything!! Their fries are very delicious and so is their breakfast and dessert. Nobody was able to finish all their entrees plus the cookie dough french toast we ordered for the table. This place is definitely a must go. read more

The best French toast I have ever had! Ordered the chunkamunka French toast and a side of bacon. The French toast was super thick and fluffy. Loads of toppings, they definitely don't skimp on that! I would love to try the French toast plain as well, I'm sure it wouldn't disappoint. The bacon was unfortunately not my favorite, it was thick and cooked really well, not too crispy, not too chewy, but I didn't love the flavor itself but maybe it just wasn't for me.
