An absolute best in town! The staff is Always friendly a nice to chat with. Drinks are just perfectly great. Not too hot, not too cold, just on spot. Baked goods are to die for! Freshly made every day. By now I tried a dozen of them and still don't have a favorite. They are all so good! I would say the best pastries in town. And I tried all the bakeries in Bellingham! Perfect little shop in a nice location and great offerings.

Lemon blueberry danish. It's good but better if warm

I found this place on Yelp and wanted to try the baked goods. It was a pity we already ate before coming over as the smell when you opened the door was mouthwatering. I did not know what was being made, but the aroma was tantalizing and made me want to eat again. So next time, I must drop by for food instead. As we were already full, we just had a lemon blueberry danish to go. We did not warm it up but it was delicious. The taste of fresh blueberry and lemon curd was perfect. It was not overly sweet and it would be excellent with a cup of tea. Everything just looked so good in the display case.

The coziness, the ambiance, everything about this place shouts Bellingham in the best way possible. The service was quick, even though there was just one girl working! My friends and I got a variety of their sandwiches and wraps and it was amazing. Each one had so much flavor, and the portion of these foods were more than enough, especially for the price! I'll definitely be stopping by here again if I'm ever in the area, and I'll make sure to try a pastry because it looked absolutely delicious.

Innovative and delicious. Did I mention, fast, funky and more fun than you'd think a sandwich could be?? The Hamskee is by far the beat panini to cross my lips and the presentation... THAT is where the innovation comes in. Amazing bakery, awesome coffee and Shirlee herself, a PNW gem.

Ambiance is great, the food is amazing, and they have kombucha on tap. What more could you want? I got the croissant, which was Didn't get a chance to try any of the pastries, but they all looked absolutely divine! I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a nice quick breakfast option. Oh and the service is also amazing!!! I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town for work!

Really cool little cafe. Great espresso and the food was delish - staff were super friendly - it was well worth the detour. This is now our go to place when we are heading South or North

Monte Cristo on Sourdough - return worthy!

Tiny spot, a one woman show. Wonderful coffee and sandwiches! Pastries looked great too. Didn't have to wait long despite the fact that Shirlee was taking orders, making drinks and sandwiches as well as serving them. We tried the Monte Cristo, one on Sourdough, the other on waffles. My daughter and her boyfriend had amazing and unique Waffelini with mango chutney and a curry and cheese sandwich with celery. Amazing!!!

We enjoyed this spot located in a building from the 1800s. Plenty of street parking so it wasn't too difficult. Walking in the shop itself is small and a bit crowded, with a little seating nook to the right. But there was plenty of tables outside in the indoor courtyard on the other entrance. We ordered the Monte Cristo on a waffle, a breakfast burrito with bacon, a latte, and a hot chocolate. All for about $30 after tip. We enjoyed our breakfast (which is served all day). Very unique coffee spot. Will be back!

Shirlee said she opened the café because she loves cooking lots of delectable pastries and her friends and family can't eat them all.

Type of cuisine: Bread. All things freshly baked: bread edition. And all things on freshly baked bread. Sandwiches, pastries, coffees and more. Ambiance: Cozy, and vast, the space is equal parts grandma's country house charm and idyllic Fairhaven. The front is quickly bustling as we enter right as the doors open for the day, a line immediately building up behind. us. This spacious entryway full of menus in chalk and digitally are graced with a plethora of tasty options for snacks, meals, and treats enjoyed in the large, expansive restaurant or outside in the parking space-turned patio seating area. What I ordered: We selected four of their breakfast sandwiches on signature rosemary bread, each one as delicious as the last. For beverages, a mocha, an americano, and two steamed milks made their way to our table. What I loved: The sandwiches. Greasy, full, tasty and full of a novelty of tastes. They were devoured. Why I loved it: Quaint and cozy, a space for couples, families, friends and everyone in between. Cost: Average to high

They've renovated recently, but kept the heart of what makes the place special. It's now more modern, but still feels the same in all the right ways. Every time we're driving to or from Vancouver, this is a must stop for us. Folks that work there always give me the feeling they they like what they do and they know what they are doing. Their wine selection is quirky and fun. And near the register, there are often bottles you just won't see in typical US liquor stores. I usually pick one or two to try. On the food side, we always, always get the beet salad, german potato salad and mac salad- they are all made european style. Those are non-negotiable sides for us. Last visit they had a watermelon gazpacho on the specials menu that perfectly balanced sweet and bright, super refreshing. What they do best is keep things simple but execute flawlessly. A good chunk of the sandwiches you can get half ( then they become slightly expensive halves due to pricing :) )Great bread, great ingredients, no fuss. The Italian sub is proof. It's classic and spot on. My personal go-to, however, is the horseradish roast beef, fantastic combination. And the rotating panini specials are always worth a look. If you're passing through Bellingham, give yourself an excuse to stop in. We certainly do, every single time

Wonderful food and drinks. I started with oyster shooters (Willapa Bay) along with a Lion's Tail cocktail. Sierra said the bourbon and lime complement each other. I wouldn't have thought so and thought it a bit of an odd choice. But she was right and I was wrong: it was fabulous. One of the most delicious drinks I've ever had, for my tastes. She gave me several recommendations for dinner. I picked the Jalapeño Chicken. It was luscious and flavorful, but the best part of it was my choice of Balsamic Brussels sprouts as my side--oh my! These were so delicious I ordered two more batches to have at home. Lovely espresso martini to end it all.

We were seated promptly by a friendly hostess at a table in DT Fairhaven, and our server was the bartender. After being seated, we waited a long time without anyone taking our order. We eventually asked if we had a server and were told it was him, with no apology or explanation. We ordered drinks and food, but after more than 40 minutes, we noticed two tables seated after us had already been served, finished eating, and were leaving. At that point, we asked for the check and said we would not be staying. About 15 minutes later, the server returned with our food instead of the check. We declined the meal and sent it back. He then asked if we wanted it boxed to go, which we also declined. His reaction suggested frustration rather than understanding. We never got to try the food, so we can't comment on it. The service, however, was well below expectations given the restaurant's reputation. This was lunch on July 15, 2026. We may try The Black Cat again in the future, hoping this was just an off day.
