Not impressed at all. We ate hibachi and it wasn't good. We were a party of 8 (whole table) and chef only used 3 eggs so barely any egg. No garlic or green onions or any onion. The rice was just full of soy sauce. Not condiment well or flavorful. Or soup had crunchy fried flakes (it was different). A few ordered steak and shrimp. I ordered chicken teriyaki and shrimp. The shrimps were great size but not good in taste. They use a little bit of regular butter, not garlic butter. My chicken teriyaki wasn't good neither. They squirted the sauce (watery) and not the real thick teriyaki sauce that I expected. The chef can clearly see my face expressions and asked if it everything was good. I said sorry but no. We all asked why no garlic or onion. He said we don't use that here. All our jaws dropped. So I asked can you sauté onions and garlic to mix with my food (plate covered in food). He said no. Needless to say we all got to go boxes and threw them away outside. We couldn't even try to eat it was just soy sauce food. PLUS they don't even throw pieces of shrimp to you for a show. read more

Wish I could give less than one star!! I had been a faithful Shogun consumer for a few years but due to moving to the Midtown Mobile area I had not been in about a year... Boy was I disappointed. The spicy tuna and spicy salmon was not spicy and neither really had any flavor whatsoever. The waitress was inattentive and took over ten minutes for us to be acknowledged and have our drink order taken. Let's not even talk about how long it took for us to get the food then beg for a check. If the sushi had been somewhat tasty, the poor service could have been over looked. Shogun is our go-to neighborhood sushi restaurant. The sushi is always super fresh. I've only had the hibachi once but it was great too. It's a bit more expensive than Bamboo which is right around the corner but I think it's worth the extra few bucks. read more

Ask for the Korean menu, and give the Kalbi a try! This place is relatively expensive, but portions are big enough for sharing.

This is by far my family's favorite go to sushi restaurant. We love it. Everything is so good there. We love their sushi and the hibachi. We have never had a disappointing experience in the 2 years we have lived here in Mobile. read more

Please share - we went to sho gun hibachi steakhouse in mobile al last night for my sons birthday- we ordered cheese sticks as an appetizer ( we bit into them and they are frozen ) second order not cooked again that well - ) the food Tasted sour - as my son said , long story short we can't even make it home and my son uses the bathroom on him self , me and everyone in the house are throwing up and on the toilet - with food poisoning all day -we had to pull over this afternoon while driving so my other son could throw up , the manger tell me to go to the hospital he won't do anything or refund it and the cheese sticks are supposed to be frozen they come out of a box ! He was rude and care less didn't care his employee was also in the bathroom and then walked out without washed her hands - we will never go back $130 and we got food poisoning and the manger could care less ! This is where we go for sushi. Have been for years. Fish is always fresh ! The service is excellent from the sushi chef to the owners. Very comfortable atmosphere. Clean too. Have all the traditional kinds of fish and you can ask the sushi chef for whatever you like or tell him your likes and they will be creative. Also have the nouveau creations for those of you on your first sojourns into sushi. Can't comment on the steakhouse. Never eaten there. read more

I went here once and it wasn't a very pleasant experience. I was on a bunch of laced molly and the seats just didn't make me feel comfortable. The other people at my table were looking at me. I tried to get up to use the bathroom but I tripped and fell face flat on the grill. I got up and ran but I got lost in the kitchen and forgot where I was and I was asking one of the cooks if they had a cigarette and they made me leave. read more

Serves great box lunch, box dinner. Great sushi. Serves Japanese beer. Ate here 20 times already. Seems to be authentic versus other places in Mobile, such as Japanese Imperial Steakhouse and Fujisan. Both are nonauthentic. read more

My husband and I moved to Mobile 5 months ago. We love good sushi and were worried we would not find awesome sushi, being as the South is more well known for deep fried food. Not knocking deep fried food, but we love our sushi. Found Shogun and have since made it our once a week place to go. Rolls are great, sashimi very good. Service courteous and timely, no complaints. If you like sushi, but fear taking chances on sushi joint, go ahead and give this one a try. We are pretty picky and this place passed the test quite well. read more

Probably the best Hibachi place in Mobile. It's not as upscale as Stix, but the food is good.

Tried Sake for the first time and I loved it! I was a bit thrown off that it was HOT but I enjoyed it regardless. I tried the dragon and spicy crawfish rolls...Delish! Great atmosphere read more

I normally have had great experiences here but not tonight. We arrived at 745 for hibachi. About 815 this very loud family was seated behind us. I could hear every word of their conversation. Even my hearing impaired mother was bothered by how loud they were. I got up to tell our waitress about it, and she said ok. All that was done was the fan was turned on over our hibachi grill. Our chef didn't come until 845. The chef, Arnold, was great! The family was still so loud, we almost got up and left. They ruined our dinner!!! After the meal, our checks were brought out. I asked the waitress to please split our check. 15 mins later, she came back with the check just split in half. Not actually split up with what we each had, which I could have just done myself. At least 10-15 mins later she comes back after we'd paid. Everyone had been gone from our table for at least 20 mins if not longer. We left at 945. I'm thoroughly disappointed, Sho Gun. read more

Very over priced for what you get. Service is hard to get. Ask for a pitcher, because you might not get a refill. We didn't want to sit at a grill, but could only get a hibachi menu. Had to pay the same price as if we had gotten a show. I'm still not sure why we stayed and ate. Don't waste your money. There are better Japanese restaurants in the area for cheaper. read more

I ordered my lunch yesterday to go. I was approached immediately by a friendly staff. I ordered one adult steak and shrimp hibachi and one child's steak hibachi. The adult serving came with soup and salad. The soup was really tasty, and the steak was cooked just how I ordered it with lots of flavoring. I could of ate it by itself! The to go portion of the adult's and child's plate were both of the same size. The only disappointing thing was the portion sizes.Although, I did get full off of it and believe I will be going back again, next time I'll try to sit down and eat! read more

Very poor customer service. My family and I went in after a football game because the hours online stated they closed at 10:30 PM. When I walked in there were about 6 people standing in a huddle, but no one turns around to acknowledge me. My family then comes in the door, and still no acknowledgement. Finally, after about 2-3 minutes of standing there someone finally turns around and say, "We're closed". Although it was only 10:05 PM. I told them the hours online stated 10:30 and they all just looked at me as if I were a zombie. Then, if they were closed, why was the door still open for me to just walk in. Then I attempted to call on Monday to talk to someone about it. I called the location and ask for a corporate number and was told, "I don't know, it might be a Columbus, GA number." This business is very unprofessional and while I will be visiting Mobile quite often, this business will not get one red dime from me. read more

My family and I visited here to eat on 9/28/15. We were seated and while waiting we had 2 roaches to crawl on the table. We left but I did inform the best waiter and the hostess of this we will NEVER be eating there. read more

My husband and I are regulars here. We have never had a disappointing meal since eating here. The only thing I would comment about is staffing. Most of the servers are great, last couple of times, there are new ones that weren't as attentive. We still highly recommend this place because it is delicious! read more

I haven't been here in a while but I'm always craving their sauces when I got to a Japanese restaurant lol By far my fav Japanese steakhouse and I've been to a ton of them. My favorite yum yum sauce and salad dressing I've ever had, I live all the way in Austin tx and we don't have any sort of jap house sauce as good as that.
