very good and fresh Omakase. We did the 15 piece serving which was $100. Not bad. One or two pieces I could've done without such as the squid or the crab claws in the broth, but some excellent pieces as well. Service was excellent, and the sake was fabulous.

I definitely recommend this place for lunch or dinner. The service was good, and everything tasted very fresh and delicious. Good vibes.

When in NYC, I have to get omakase at least once. I got the $88 omakase and it comes with 10pc nigiri, one appetizer, one monaka, one fatty tuna handroll, and one dessert. This was pretty affordable for most omakases as you get a variety to try as it will make you full. I thought the nigiri was good, but nothing too exceptional. My favorites were the cuttlefish, toro with caviar, and uni handroll. The spicy tuna on top of the rice cracker was unique. The oyster for appetizer was topped with ikura and yuzu foam. I thought there was too much foam as it over powered the other flavors. The matcha tirimisu was great. Overall, I wasn't too mind-blown here but I think this is good for omakase beginners

Had a great experience at Shogun Omakase. The quality of the fish was outstanding, and every piece felt carefully prepared. The oyster course and crab soup were both memorable, and the A5 Wagyu tasting at the end was the perfect finish. The chef's counter setting made the experience feel intimate and special. Definitely one of the best omakase meals I've had in NYC.

Found this place on Yelp for a quick lunch. There was only 1 other party when I walked in, so I was a little skeptical. The staff were friendly and came up to my table quickly. I had a omakase lunch with a light bodied sake. Everything was fresh and the chef was friendly and interacted with me. The matcha desert was probably my favorite. it was light and fulfilling.

    Handroll B Set for $58

I was craving for omakase and I've been wanting to try this spot since it's near Grand Central Terminal. I decided to order the shogun handroll experience instead since this was new. I ordered handroll B set for $58. It came with an appetizer, I got the lobster garlic butter soup, 5 handrolls (king salmon, baby yellowtail, eel foie gras, toro, and snow crab), and their homemade tiramisu for dessert. Nice ambiance, friendly and accommodating staff, and great service. Everything was very good and filling, the sushi was also fresh. My favorite handrolls were the king salmon and eel foie gras. My friend ordered handroll A set for $48 and this one comes with 4 handrolls. Her favorite was also the king salmon. I would definitely come back and try their omakase, looks very affordable and delicious.

This was one of those bucket list dining experiences you dream about as a foodie. Shogun Omakase knocked it out of the park! The best way to describe it is umami all the way around. When I first heard about omakase dining years ago, I couldn't really picture it. After this experience, I completely understand what it's all about. For anyone who hasn't heard of it, it's a curated tasting of the chef's best fish, meats and ingredients of the day in a high end Japanese style presentation. No menu, no choices, just trust in the chef's skill and creativity. And Shogun had it perfected from start to finish. I was never much of a sake fan in the past, but that completely changed this evening. The quality and presentation were on another level, and the way they kept it cold without ice diluting it was simply awesome. As someone who enjoys really good bourbon, I can say this sake was right up there with the best of the best. Then came the 14 course omakase set with a wagyu tasting add on that completely blew us away. Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. Foie gras toppings, caviar pairings, sushi that melted in your mouth, and A5 wagyu that was pure perfection. You wouldn't know Shogun was there if you were walking by it on the street. Simple and unpretentious from the outside, full of life and energy inside. From the first bite to the last, this was an experience to remember. For anyone who loves food and foodie experiences, this is something you need to do at least once.

The BEST Omakase Experience! Whether you live in New York or are just visiting, this spot is an absolute must-try. We ordered the 12-piece omakase and every single bite was incredible and the fish was very high-quality. The service was truly exceptional. The staff were incredibly warm and attentive. They explained each piece, kept our water glasses full, and made sure we were comfortable and taken care of throughout the entire meal. I would honestly return just for the service alone. This was such a special dinner. It was the best restaurant we tried in New York and easily one of the best dining experiences I've ever had!! I'm already looking forward to coming back the next time I'm in New York. Wishing this place continued success!

Fast, friendly service. The sushi itself was fine. A piece of the cuttlefish was so chewy, it had to be spit out. The 14 piece omakase was $88 per person.

Omakase To Omakase Set On the Go
    Max H.

This was the Omakase on the Go -- $68 for 2 apps, 8 pieces of nigiri, and a chef's choice roll. With tip delivered, $90. Apps: buttery crab claws and a tuna/salmon sashimi. The main box: tuna avocado roll, spicy tuna on rice, grilled eel on rice, plus 8 nigiri. Fresh fish, nice-sized pieces, beautifully packaged. But... two squid, two hamachi, no toro -- at this price? Even one piece of toro would've made it feel premium. And that spicy tuna over rice felt like filler. Verdict: very good, but not elite. Shogun Omakase gets a B+. Want to see the full breakdown? Hit The Raw Report on TikTok -- I show the box, grade it, and tell you exactly why it scored what it did.

We walked by this place tonight and decided to just try it. It was an amazing deal ($68 for a 12 course sushi omakase and an additional $10 for the wagyu sampler). We started with a delicious oyster appetizer, 4 pieces of light nigiri, 4 pieces of delicious richer fish (I loved the king salmon), a very tasty 2 course set of a rice cake and also eel over rice, and a finisher of tiramisu. We chose to get the wagyu set and they served it 3 different ways. The place was still about half full an hour before closing, with groups sitting at the bar and chatting with the sushi chefs. I would highly recommend!

5/5 for food, service, and ambiance. I've dined at Shogun Omakase twice now, and both experiences were exceptional. The service is attentive without being intrusive, and the quality of the food has been consistently outstanding. They offer several omakase sets to choose from--I went with Set B (19 courses) with the A5 tasting plate for $150. For the variety, quality, and presentation of each dish, I found it to be well worth the price on both visits. The appetizers were thoughtfully prepared. Each piece of nigiri was really fresh. The course ended with Matcha Tiramisu, which was really really good. Highly recommend the chef counter option if you go.

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit.
