I wanted to finally try Shogun after hearing good things about it. I made a reservation prior to arriving. Upon arrival, we were asked to wait to the side. Not a problem since hosts generally follow this direction while preparing a table. Multiple groups of people who arrived after me were seated in the teppan area and main restaurant. Multiple staff continually walked by for several minutes without providing an additional update despite multiple tables open for seating. Finally, after about 10 minutes, our name is called, and are led to the teppan area, which we did not want. We informed the host that we made a reservation, which he immediately said all reservations made are only for the teppan and not the main restaurant. We asked him that we were never informed about that and asked for a table in the main restaurant. We were once again asked to step aside and wait for them to locate an open table. We decided to leave upon that and were very surprised that no effort was made to correct the situation. Receiving a response of "okay" and negative body language from an employee who I believe was leadership did not leave a great impression to ever return. read more

I have never been more mad at a restaurant staff like this before. I gave the girls at the front a cake for my brother & cousin to put in the fridge yesterday when we arrived. Come time for us to get the cake, the server and manager told me they lost my cake & it was given to another table accidentally. How can you give a cake to the wrong party?! Do you guys not check with them first to see you're giving them the right cake???? And how did that party just accept a cake they know wasn't theirs?! They gave some money back & the manager gave me my money back for the cake. It ruined our double birthday celebration and our whole party was excited to try the cake too. I usually don't write bad reviews, and this might be the only one so far so the day that we went a few days ago when we first got there the person there didn't say anything and took a long time to finally see that we're there and once we went in one of the servers was super mean she was Japanese or Chinese. She literally like kept on like rolling her eyes when we were ordering because we took a pretty long time and also the chef there when he was cooking one of the proteins that we ordered the hot oil burned my eye and that's when I got mad and the rest of the time I don't really speak. Also, if you're there sometimes they give you less than what you actually order because they give more to the other people that sit with you now that's not really a problem most of the time but this time certainly when he burned me in the eye, I kind of like had an attitude, so I got less than other people like I said this place is really just based on your luck some of the servers who are like American or Mexican is very nice and friendly, but some of the Asian servers really have an attitude and honestly sometimes the chef is really nice, but sometimes they give you new chefs who literally don't know what they're doing read more

Never in the 10+ years my Family & I having been coming here did I think I'd write a negative review but here we are. Last night (09/23/21) I secured a reservation for my Family to dine on the teppan grill, my Wifey & my boys were very excited to finally enjoy a meal cooked right in front of us. Let's start with the beer. Gone is the Kirin draft which was our favorite drink there, instead they offered a new beer which we tried but was way too hoppy. Not only was it not a pint but it seemed to be about 8-10oz instead but in a pretty cool small glass. Oh yeah & I later found out when I got the bill that they were each $9.00, WTHeck?!!! Next was the Mexican Roll we ordered, another of our favorite & again it came out in miniature size. Again WTHeck?!!! Finally our meals. My Wifey & I shared a Sho-Gun Special while my boys shared a teriyaki chicken meal. We ordered our filet medium but the chef made it to HIS liking & cooked it well done, which tasted dry & burnt so that really sucked. The veggies had way too much sauce & really couldn't taste the veggies much. The chicken fried rices tasted off but maybe bc they're cutting back on some ingredients or not using enough, either way it wasn't as good as before. My boys teriyaki chicken was also dry & not flavorful, Waba Grill has better teriyaki chicken my boys said. Overall I don't think my Family & I will be back & this totally sucks bc it was a place my Family would look forward to. I hope the Sho-Gun people read this & do something about the whole experience from start to finish. The bill was also a ridiculous amount too, $150 for two adults & 2 kids who BOTH shared plates!!!! I love shoguns but with the increase in Covid cases currently I decided to get my dinner to go I ordered three dinners one kids meal and when it got to the point of asking for the sauces she said that if I would get any chili paste or the sweet chili sauce I would have to pay $.50 per little side ... mine you if I would eat there I would get unlimited amounts for free and I think that's ridiculous because at the end of the day I still am consuming 4 meals and need condiments for my dinners. My partner and I sat down at the sushi bar tonight- seated immediately on a Saturday night! If you have a chance to sit at the sushi bar, do it. It was so cool to see those guys in their element! Great drinks and great food. I'm a vegetarian and they had a great veggie roll plate! I left feeling full and satisfied. I highly recommend the inari! Came here a year ago when Outdoor dining started up and today made up for it. We weren't planning on going here today but ended up going for lunch and I'm so happy we did. The food was excellent, the Chef and show were great, the atmosphere and cleanliness of the restaurant was amazing. Not one thing to complain about and we will definitely go back again. Typically I would give Shogun 5 stars because I love the food and servers. My rating is only for recent takeout experience. During the pandemic we ate here every week to support our local sushi spot. Since reopening we have not been able to get takeout. We call and are told "we've stopped taking takeout orders for the night". So the next night we try to place an order earlier in the day and are told the same thing. This has taken place for over a month now and is very frustrating given the amount of business we made sure to provide to keep them afloat. Tonight I called and was told to please hold for someone to help me with my takeout order. Sat on hold for 4 minutes only to be answered with "we are no longer taking Togo orders tonight". The teppan grill chef are entertaining and friendly. I was there celebrating my niece's birthday yesterday and I noticed that they have a complete change of staff. This location has gotten worse. We've been here 10+ times and we've always had a great experiences...this was not one of them. We knew we would have a large party and we knew COVID restrictions could be an issue, so a week before we called and were told it wouldn't be an issue. We showed up tonight and we were told we wouldn't be accommodated. So we went outside to discuss what to do, 15 minutes later my brother-in-law goes in and they're more than happy to accommodate him. When I talked to the manager about seating, he insinuated that I was lying about calling beforehand to make sure. We should have left them. We waited over 2 hours to be seated, which was ok, we had drinks at the bar. The bartender dropped an entire beer in a family members lap with no apology. We're finally being seated and they had half our party in the main room, and half in their own separate room, when they could have had us wait 15 minutes longer to seat them at the table next to us. The food was good, our chef was great, but management and front of house was beyond rude. A little communication goes a long way, but I doubt we'll be coming back to this location. read more

We went on a Saturday night and the wait was about a little over an hour, they were short cooks. Complements to the cooks and servers it was really busy, but they still gave great service. Make sure your party is ALL there, that's when they start the wait time. I ordered the sesame chicken entree and upgraded the the chicken fried rice. The service was horrible. After 2 years of COVID I decided to celebrate my 48th birthday here to have a great birthday experience. Our waitress was Madison. The first thing Madison asked after seating us down, was if we were celebrating any special occasion or was it just for Easter. We let her know that it was my birthday. Everything was going great. She took our order. There was other guest at the table. We were socializing and having a good time. Drinks and appetizers started to come out. We and some other guest ordered sushi. Our sushi never came out. But they did remember to bill us for it. Everyone at the table was done eating and were packing leftovers to go when one of the guest realized they forgot about my birthday so he mentioned it to the waitress. She said she would bring out my dessert. I did not want to sit and wait for a scoop of free ice cream. What makes the experience special is the attention and the acknowledgment of the special occasion. After we were done packing our food and we're ready to leave. I feel timing is everything and if she wanted to make this a special experience she could have. I did have to ask her for a few things more than once. In general service, at restaurants has gone down tremendously. People are not making an effort to get a tip . And the worst part is that she never apologized for her errors. So 12/23/22 go in at 9:09 pm say they close at 10:00 pm after stand at house station for 3 mins look at the hostess wipe the menu she final say something and tells me they closed early cause it slow .
