Good Musubi but the ube beignet on this day was very doughy but did not taste like ube at all

    Rachel H.

Came From a TikTok! Saw a tiktok and this looked delicious, found the nearest location and actually had it delivered via UberEats. Ordered the following: * Kimchi Butter Katsu Chicken * 2 pc Spam Brulee Musubi The chicken was DELICIOUS and moist! With a little crunch from the outside. So good. The rice was yummy, but I'm an easy fan of rice. The macaroni salad was good. The Spam Brulee Musubi was very good as well. Overall, I enjoyed it for sure! Not sure if I'd go out of my way to get though.

A year later and i wanted the same thing as i got last time: katsu plate and spam musubi. And once again, so good! I'm happy to see that quality has not gone down. Service and food was fast. Ambiance is in a food court at rodeo 39. Happy that this place has stayed despite the frequent rotations of other establishments in this food hall!

Got spicy chicken & shrimp with mac salad through online ordering. Food came fast. Surprisingly tasty and fulfilling. Service was great too.

Located inside the Rodeo 39 Public Market. I came here strictly to grab some beignets. Already had lunch and the ube beignets were the perfect dessert. Not too dense, crisp outside and nice fluffy inside with good ube flavor. Must order these through the app but service was quick. A few tables immediately in front but otherwise plenty around the food hall. Overall good vibe. If in the area, must try

Shootz hits the spot for Hawaiian comfort food! The kimchi butter katsu chicken sandwich is packed with flavor. The chicken is super tender and the mac and cheese salad is creamy. Definitely a must try spot!

I came here to meet my friend on a Thursday night - it was my first time trying this place and I was pretty excited to check it out. The katsu was actually very, very good - I've never had a kimchi butter dish before so I was pretty impressed by how tasty it was. I found the musubi to be a little too heavy with all the mayo unfortunately. For first-timers, definitely recommend just getting the katsu! Overall, great casual dining experience. The workers are very personable and helpful as well, so shoutout to them!

I was lucky enough to score a kimchi butter katsu sando at the Shootzgiving event today! I've only heard great things about this place so I was very much looking forward to it. The staff were well prepared for the event and very friendly while we waited in line. The sando was an explosion of flavor and textures in my mouth, the katsu was so moist and tasty, warm inside and crispy outside. The mac salad was creamy and delicious. I could've eaten 10 of them easily, it was absolutely amazing! Mahalo Shootz for this incredible event giving back to the community. Bravo!

Had such a great first experience at Shootz! Me and my best friend were walking by and smelled the aroma of the chicken and instantly knew we had to try it. The chicken itself was super crispy and fresh. Personally, I think the chicken sandwiches could've used just a little bit more seasoning, but overall everything was still really good. What truly made the experience stand out was Danny at the register. He was absolutely amazing and had incredible customer service. Once he found out it was our first time there and that they were close to closing, he went above and beyond and accommodated us with not one, but TWO chicken sandwiches on the house for us to try. That level of kindness and hospitality honestly made our night. We ended up getting an amazing combo with shrimp, chicken, macaroni salad, two Spam musubi, two chicken sandwiches, and two drinks -- all for only $22!!! Such a great value for the amount and quality of food we received. Danny's energy alone made us want to come back. Great customer service goes a long way, and this place definitely left a positive impression on us!

Finally got to try shootz at rodeo 39 on a Monday around noon time. I got the spicy chicken katsu sandwich and 2pc of spam brûlée musubi. The spicy chicken katsu sandwich was delicious. The chicken was juicy, tender, tasty sauce and soft bun. The mac salad in the sandwich definitely enhanced the sandwich. The spam brûlée musubi had a unique but delicious flavor and crunch to it. I definitely would come!!

I've been here countless times. We love the kimchi butter chicken katsu! It's delicious but there have been times where the chicken katsu has been inconsistent for example it maybe be super crispy and seasoned well but the next time would be soggy and drenched in kimchi butter or it could be barely breaded and sloppily prepared. This time we bit into a piece that had something chewy. We pulled it halfway out our mouths and half of it was sticking out the chicken. We pulled the rest out the chicken and couldn't believe what we're were looking at. Skeptical at first and we were too embarrassed to say anything. Just completely ruined our appetite.

Had this spot saved for a month, so I finally decided to come by and try out a plate lunch. Shootz is located in the back of the Rodeo 39 Public Market, towards outdoor seating. Staff was nice and the tables were clean. I got the kimchi butter spicy chicken katsu. Honestly, I have the worst palate when it comes to handling spicy foods so I'd probably opt for a regular order next time. The overall taste of the chicken katsu was really good. Super flavorful and tender! The plate lunch comes with the chicken on top of rice with a scoop of mac salad. The rice was cooked well but was drenched in sauce. If that's your thing, you'd definitely enjoy it. I always love mac salad, so I was happy with theirs. If you are wanting a nice hearty meal, Shootz should be the next spot you try out.

    UBE Beignets
    Violet H.

Tried Shootz today and ordered the Spicy Chicken Sando and the ube beignets. First off, the experience itself was really pleasant. The restaurant was clean, pickup was easy, and the staff was very friendly. I walked in, saw the pickup bags already lined up at the counter, gave them my name, and was greeted warmly with a smile. They handed me my food quickly and told me to enjoy. Overall, it was a very smooth and welcoming experience. Now for the food. The chicken sando was honestly delicious. Super flavorful, juicy, and just a really well-balanced sandwich overall. The kimchi butter sauce added a lot of flavor without overpowering it. I will say mine was not very hot temperature-wise, and the chicken was not as crispy as I expected, possibly because of the sauce. The bun also seemed more like a fresh Hawaiian roll straight from the pack rather than toasted or warmed. Even with that, the sandwich itself was still really good. Also, for anyone wondering, the "spicy" level was extremely mild to me. Flavorful, yes. Spicy, not really. I didn't even need a drink with it. Still, I would absolutely recommend the sandwich and order it again. The ube beignets were a little disappointing for me. The outside was crispy, the inside was fluffy, and the powdered sugar was nice. But the ube filling was very mild to the point where I could barely taste the ube flavor at all. The texture of the filling also was not my favorite. They were not bad, but I personally would not order them again. Overall, the sandwich alone made me want to come back. I definitely plan on trying more items from their menu.

I appreciated the plentiful cold water at the table to accompany this flavor-packed dining experience. We asked for seconds of the cucumber kimchi because it was also so good. My favorite was the bibimpap with bulgogi--sooo scrumptious. The giant flattened chicken katsu was impressed as promised. And we even had leftovers to take home! The servers are aunties that won't check on you after every bite but will come over the second you raise your hand. I took my mom for lunch and we dug in a little too quick - photos were snapped after we've made a small dent on the food. We got the Seolleongtang and soondae platter which was plenty to share between two people. We ended up taking half of the soondae platter home and enjoying it for breakfast the day after. For those not familiar with Seolleongtang, the soup comes out very basic. You're given a bucket of scallions, a little pot of salt, and shaker of ground pepper to season the broth as you please. I recommend adding a few spoonfuls of the radish kimchi sauce. Speaking of the banchan, Jong Ro prepares some of the freshest and most flavorful banchans on the street. I wish they offered a menu option that was just a bowl of rice and bottomless banchan. The soondae was perfectly springy, paired with a salted shrimp sauce and flavored salt dip. The platter also came with boiled (or steamed?) pork belly, pig ear, and other pork innards that were nicely cooked. I love restaurants like this because they are simply good at what they do. Nothing is over-the-top. There is always a constant stream of customers. The times I've gone have been during your typical slow hours and the place was always 60% full. I imagine the house is full during dinner time or on weekends and rightfully so. Definitely stop by if you're looking for a heartwarming and belly filling comfort meal.

Contacted them directly has requested, but never received a response. Tonight's family decision to order once again was a bit hesitant, but we decided to try again as with the majority of my household just did not feel like going out to eat in person. I was a bit taken aback by the robotic assistant taking the order over the phone. But with patience and proper instruction from the order taker, it seemed as though everything was good. It even read back the order to me to make sure everything is correct, as I did have to correct it once before completing the order. I also received a confirmation of the order via text after receiving a link to pay online through a Yelp service here. Unfortunately it happened again. We got home and found that one of the items was incorrect, and one item had something that should have had a standard addition to it but it did not. In particular it was a French dip sandwich that was served without the au jus sauce. There was no indication over the phone that I would have had to confirm that I wanted au jus as it is standard with the item. The other item that was wrong ended up coming as an appetizer rather than a dinner. Even though we did try to consume the items, they just weren't satisfactory and it was difficult to eat the sandwich without the au jus. I've already contacted the restaurant directly, pretty much only being able to send a message through the website as there is no one answering the phone directly by a human being. We'll see if I actually get a response this time, not just the automated response from the business manager here on Yelp. We've never really had an issue dining in, but sometimes my family just doesn't feel up to going out as we have two senior citizens in the home who would rather stay in in order of food sometimes. Clearly now that this has happened yet again, we are just going to refrain from ordering over the phone or through the website.

Another close friend of mine was heading over to attend the latter part of the service, so she met up with me for lunch. She ordered the beef rib soup and she loved it. The broth was strained well, but had a lot of depth and flavor. The banchans were good, too. I would come back to this place if I'm in the area or if another celebration of life happens. The venue was clean, bright, quaint, and the waitress was SUPER nice. She managed the front of the house by herself on a Saturday morning/afternoon. A lot of locals come here and I'm glad because their food is legit good.

The broth was rich and flavorful, the beef was tender, and all the veggies soaked up the soup perfectly. The upgraded fried rice was the perfect side. If you love hot pot or comfort food, this one's definitely worth trying!

The tall male employee and Tuyet were both very kind, attentive, and genuinely hospitable. They checked on us, were friendly, and made us feel like valued customers. Unfortunately, one interaction made our experience end on a sour note. I asked our server, Chelsea, if I could have an extra bowl. She gave a small nod, seemed a bit annoyed, and slowly walked away without saying anything. When she brought the bowl back, she simply set it down and left without speaking. I still said thank you, but she did not respond. At first, I thought I might be overthinking it, but my mom also noticed the same behavior, so it was not just me. During our visit, I made eye contact with Chelsea a few times, but she never smiled or acknowledged us. In contrast, every other server we interacted with checked in and asked if we needed anything else. It also felt like her attitude only changed when it was time to handle payment. After that, she followed me out to give me a bag I had forgotten, but still did not say anything and kept a straight face. I understand everyone can have off days, and I do not expect constant enthusiasm, but basic friendliness and communication are important in hospitality. Thankfully, the great service from the rest of the staff, especially Tuyet and the tall gentleman, made the overall experience enjoyable. I hope this feedback is taken constructively because the restaurant itself is great, and I would be happy to return.
