I always get the combo so I get to try their Musubis. The sandwich comes with crispy chicken, Hawaiian bun, macaroni salad and a whole lot of goodness. You'll basically be addicted to it after the first bite to take. There are layers of spicy, sweet, and savory to this sandwich. The Musubis are really good too. I really like the kimchi katsu chicken here. It has this really nice taste and amazing crunch to it. The spam brûlée musubi just has an eel sauce and Mayo layer on the top. The spam in it is really thin. The short ribs just taste like the usual kbbq or hawaiian ribs. Nothing special about it. Same with the coconut shrimp it tastes the way you would expect it to be if you have had coconut shrimp before. The chicken sandwich is a bit spicy. If you're the hangry type, might be best to get here early so you can get your food in time to stave off those cravings. If you're a current or former Hawai'i resident, the entrees here aren't the size of a full plate lunch - maybe about half that. The kimchi butter katsu was the star of our order, though I didn't get much "kimchi" flavor - definitely buttery, definitely crunchy and yummy. The loco moco plate was very okay with bland gravy and patty, not an onion to be seen. The mac salad with both plates was also just okay, I recommend adding your own hot sauce and maybe some relish at home if that's your preference. Yes, its all good to eat them with the shell on, but most people don't like their shrimp like this. The Chicken Katsu was good, the glaze on it was tasty, but not world changing. With that said this review is based on flavor on their take of Hawaii street food. Their Loco Moco is definitely close to the ones you would find in Hawaii. The meat patty is full of flavor, rice is perfect, and the gravy and egg brings it all together. Honey butter chicken katsu, lacks flavor. I personally didn't enjoy this dish because the katsu is drenched in butter, couldn't taste the honey, not worth the price. Musubi, flavor is great, and the spam to rice ratio isn't the best and def not worth the price. Overall this place is Instagram worthy for photos, portion sizes is small and isn't worth the price. This is a Hawaiian fusion eatery located inside Rodeo 39 Public Market. Most popular item here seems to be the Kimchi Butter Katsu Chicken. You can get it as a plate with rice and macaroni salad, or as a sandwich, which also comes with macaroni salad. I personally think sandwich is the better option because the bun is pretty good. I'm not sure if it's Hawaiian sweet bread or brioche, but it was slightly sweet. The katsu chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside with just enough spiciness to make it interesting. It didn't taste like kimchi but the flavor was still good. There was also some sweetness which complemented the spiciness. Not sure if it was the kimchi butter or some other sauce, but that layer of sweetness really made the sandwich tasty. My only complaint is the macaroni salad in the sandwich. I didn't think it added any value because it was rather bland and made the sandwich too starchy and heavy. I think the sandwich would taste better if there was some acidity (like sweet pickle). I also tried Jalapeño Garlic Shrimp, and musubis. The shrimp was flavorful but all the flavor was on the shell. Actual shrimp didn't absorb any of the flavor. Since I don't eat the shell, I didn't get much out of this dish. The musubis were good although the portion of filling to rice was small,.
