What an amazing place for good food and great vibes in La Jolla Shore. Although parking can be tricky, it's well worth the effort for a great spot for fresh quality food. And it's delicious!!! Allie was our host and was able to find a great place to eat. All the tables are great with even an outside covered patio available. Jade our waitress was very friendly and nice. She was very patient and professional and listened to us in a kind way. With young ones with us, it is challenging. However, Jade ensured that we enjoyed our meal at the Shorehouse Kitchen. At brunch, my go to dish is the French toast that will tell me the quality and care from the kitchen. I was blown away at how delicious the French Toast was. The name is the "CARAMELIZED TAHITIAN VANILLA BEAN FRENCH TOAST with Fresh Blueberries or Bananas and Chantilly Cream, or a Grilled Pineapple". Jade gave away the secret ingredient to me and I was impressed. An applied Maillard reaction with brown sugar brought the French Toast a new level of yumminess. The Chantilly Cream took it over the top, not to sweet and very creamy. Yum!!! Also tried the "RASPBERRY TRUFFLE MOCHA St. George Vanilla Bean Vodka. Raspberry Liqueur, Callebaut Belgian Chocolate, Espresso, Steamed Milk, Chantilly Cream" . AMAZING!!! The Shorehouse Kitchen is a gem with fantastic food and service. Definitely a return visit call for the family!!!
This place is 10 out of 10. Was looking for a cute breakfast spot to go to breakfast too before going to the aquarium. I got the mango guava pancakes, which were out of this world. The granola on top with the guava sauce was perfect. Also got a latte which was very good.
Came here on Friday for late breakfast after a hike. We were seated right away but the parking can be a challenge. Service was very friendly and attentive. I had tofu egg white frittata and decaf cappuccino. Food was pretty decent, but not great. Coffee was very mediocre. My husband had a cheeseburger and he enjoyed it. They have lots of standard breakfast options that you can order if you want that. They have some indoor and outdoor dining. And the vibe is kind of like a beach diner but probably a little better than that. So overall a pretty decent experience.
We are always looking for a good brunch spot and Shorehouse will definitely be making it into our rotations. Honestly might have the best crispy breakfast potatoes I've had. The short rib potato cakes were also amazing. The mango and guava pancakes were great and was a nice twist to the usual flavors. I was not the biggest fan of the pork carnitas cornbread Benedict and would probably try something different next time--it was a little too bland and the texture too one dimensional. Overall, though, a very solid brunch spot in SD!
This is a cute little cafe to have brunch at. They have a variety of coffees, fresh pressed juices, and booze if you're in the mood. They have patio seating outside so you can soak in the sun, people watch, and enjoy a nice meal. I lovedddd the caramelized Tahitian vanilla French toast! It had a little crunch from the caramelization of the vanilla on the French toast. We added the strawberry, blueberry, and chantilly cream to it. Perfect blend of sweet, tangy, fluffy, with a little crunch. Definitely a good sweet treat to start the day. I got a spinach, Swiss cheese, bacon omelet. The hash browns were pretty good! Crunchy, salty, and went well with the eggs. I was hoping for more of a coffee flavor in the white mocha. They make the whipped cream from scratch. The mocha was mid. I would say this place is a lil over a 4 star place. The beach bowl is an açaí bowl on top of Greek yogurt. I thought it was a little too tangy for my taste. I think having either the yogurt or açaí bowl works better than mixing the two.
Came to shoreline kitchen during a quick san diego trip! We came on a saturday morning around 9:30 AM and there was no wait. Parking around is a bit hard to find, ultimately had to park a few blocks down. We got the maple chicken sandwich and an eggs benedict and both were really good. Service was 10/10
Food was amazing. Nice robust flavor from the béarnaise sauce on the Salmon Benedict. Waiter was very pleasant. He asked what kind of side of toast did I want with my Benedict, I responded with "oh? There's toast included? Maybe Rye?" And he said "oh no, my apologies, it doesn't come with toast". I must have had a really sad look on my face when I said "oh ok". because he said "you know what, I'll throw in a side of complimentary toast". Anyways, great little niche close to the ocean. Nice light cool breeze. Street Parking was easy to find
I came for brunch on a Thursday around 11:30 and the place was busy, but not overly packed so seating was quick. I got the Classic Benedict, with the Crispy Hash Browns, and though the hollandaise was delicious there were some problems with the texture of the English Muffin. One side (that came with an already punctured-ish egg) was really tough and hard to cut through. However, the other side was light and fluffy. Another part I wasn't a fan of was that their Canadian Bacon leaned on a thicker cut and a saltier side; but there was still a generous amount of slices. Service was great and were kind in making some modifications to the menu with the scramble. There was also not a long wait time for the food to come out. Ambience leans towards beachy with a nice outside patio and a cozy seating on the inside. Though I didn't fully enjoy the item I got, I would go again and try others of their classic brunch or lunch menu.
In the area for a wedding and stopped by this brunch place. It was phenomenal. We got the chicken sandwich and the spinach/mushroom omelette. Both flavors were amazing!! Service was also good. Recommend
It pains me to leave 3 stars but the service was SO slow. Maybe it was just this timing or being understaffed but it didn't seem busy when we arrived. The food was delicious and the service was slow. After our day date doing kayaking on Sunday morning (11am) across the street at EveryDay California, we saw Shorehouse across the street and the reviews looked good. We came in at 1pm on Sunday and quickly got a table. Thankfully we just had our party of 2. I did see the Yelp waitlist showed 17-30 min but we got right in and seated outside. We were quickly seated but I wish the rest of the experience would have been faster. Our server took our order after 10 min. FOOD- it took a while to get our food. 40 minutes after ordering and a guest that came after us got their food before us. -Monterey omelette - 8.5/10- my husband thought it was good with the chiles and made with quality bacon. -Egg white Mediterranean omelette- 8/10 - I liked that they offered healthy options. The omelette wasn't soaked in oil which was appreciated! -Caramelized Tahitian French toast 10/10 - I had a bite and this was delicious. We did have to ask for syrup though. Overall, this is a tasty place but maybe avoid sitting out front or going on a busy day.
Enjoyed a few hours at the beach. Asked a local where to get food was directed to the strip of restaurants. Fee options but when we stopped at Shorehouse Kitchen we knew we'd be happy with the choice as the person who greeted us was friendly and said "take your time". The roasted red pepper bisque had grilled cheese toast that was tasty and filling. The cucumber avocado sandwich with the seasoned fries complimented the soup perfectly. They also serve breakfast foods as well. Plenty of seating indoor, covered patio and on the street dining. Any seat is the right seat
Popular breakfast place with a comprehensive menu. There can be a wait, as the staff seems a bit overstretched. Unfortunately, the table we were seated at had a sticky surface that did not feel properly sanitized. The owner should consider replacing this type of furniture, as a clean and comfortable dining environment would make the experience much more pleasant for everyone.
Cute spot at one end of the La Jolla shores downtown strip with lots of outdoor, dog-friendly seating. They even have a full doggie menu! We arrived at 1 on a Sunday and I added us got the yelp waitlist while walking up. However upon arrival a minute later there were multiple tables available and they were able to seat us right away. Yelp said there was a 10-min wait with a few parties in front of us, so would not rely on yelp waitlist in the future.. Menu looked great, with classics as well as special items. Something for everyone between the breakfast and lunch menus, as well as a pretty extensive cafe and alcoholic menu. I was eyeing the Kyoto coffee, juices, and samovar teas, but landed on the St. George Ibarra Mocha instead since my MIL went for a spritz and we're on holiday! It wasn't too sweet but definitely a nice treat and best as a dessert after our savory lunches. Her limoncello spritz was also super yummy and both were booooozy. Carnitas poblano cornbread benedict - I don't typically get Benedicts but this sounded intriguing and so glad we got it. Perfectly poached eggs and flavorful carnitas on this great cornbread - no hollandaise needed (kept on side). The hashbrowns were crispy as promised. Quinoa pear pomegranate salad was a great combo of flavors and textures! Filling even without adding more protein (though recommend adding perhaps salmon). Tarragon chicken salad was ok - surprisingly underseasoned, not very flavorful, and the chicken was chopped smaller than I prefer. I'd skip. It was a very light dish, if that's what you're feeling! Great friendly service which we appreciated. The pastries inside looked really good too. I'd love to try a bite of those, their mango guava pancakes, and poblano white chicken chili in the future.
LOVE shore house. The staff is so nice. We went on a beautiful Saturday morning and we got sat immediately. Parking was a little tricky but mot a big deal. Their menu is full of amazing items. We ended up getting the wild mushroom and spinach omelette and the waffle with candied walnuts and bananas. Not sure how but forgot to get pics of those. The food took awhile to come out and the eggs were cold. We notified our waiter and he was so kind about it. Took it right off the bill. Other than that hiccup, everything tasted sooo goooood. The flavors were fresh and strong and the waffle was the perfect ending. I would definitely come back again! read more
Such a great place for breakfast! I came here at 9:30 on a Sunday and there was a 30 minute wait. The I ordered the pork carnitas with poblano cornbread and a side of potatoes. It was pretty tasty and filling. The portions are also pretty good. My friend ordered the California omelet with a side of toast. The omelet came with an arugula salad too. We split the cornmeal pancakes with lemon and blueberries. The short stack had 2 gigantic pancakes. This one was less memorable. I didn't really taste the lemons at all. It was a very average pancake. Great place for a sit down brunch with inside and outside dining tables. read more

Horrible service, delayed. Ordered pancakes and they forgot to bring syrup so I asked for it and they never brought it out. After eating it without syrup, I noticed there was plastic inside the pancakes. Unfortunately I will not be back. They didn't even show any empathy. read more

I had high expectations for Shorehouse but unfortunately was let down. We were sat down immediately outside and I ordered an orange juice and my sister ordered a vanilla chai latte. The latte came out fairly quickly but I never got my orange juice. There were a lot of good looking items on the menu and after debating what to get, I ended up ordering the mango guava pancakes with a side of eggs and Turkey sausage and my sister ordered the chicken sandwich. The food wasn't great. My pancakes were undercooked in the middle and raw. The eggs and sausage were completely cold and hard. The chicken sandwich was hard in the middle and the hashbrowns were cold. Also, the servers were a bit lazy and kept reaching over the railing to serve our food instead of walking around. Hence, the waitress spilled some of the latte trying to reach over to set it down. At the end of the meal I had to tell the waitress I never got my orange juice. They also charged me over $11 for the side of eggs and sausage! The best part of the meal was the homemade granola on top of the pancakes. Two stars because the ambiance of the place was very cute. With all the brunch options in La Jolla, I probably will not be returning to Shorehouse. read more
Nice and sunny weather for outdoor brunch. This place is busy so make sure you make reservations. The menu items are quite expensive. The food tasted average. I was disappointed by the seared salmon and baby kale. The salmon came out dry. The poach eggs on top of it made it a little better but it's not extraordinary enough for me to come back again. The short ribs did not leave a great impression either. It's editable but not that flavorful. The perk of this location is the 5-10 mins walk to the beach. read more

Fabulous brunch spot with great outdoor dining to people watch, hang with friends and pet friendly with a dog menu. Service was great and food took some time as it was a busy Saturday but well worth the wait. We split our food and the kitchen split our food for us. read more

Went her for brunch today after a hike. The waiter said we just missed their rush. There was some delay with him getting to the table, getting our water, but he was very friendly and tried to be as attentive as possible. They still seemed pretty busy and the waiter seemed to be handling a lot of tasks/tables. To the food: we ordered the short rib hash with a biscuit, and the chicken breakfast sandwich with potatoes. The short rib hash seemed like a simple concoction, but tasted so good! The buttermilk biscuit was perfect. The chicken sando was a yummy surprise as well. There are some good options on the menu that we want to try in the future. We absolutely enjoyed our food and look forward to coming back. read more

I liked that this place was away from the hustle and bustle that is La Jolla. My friend and I sat outside on a beautiful, sunny day and it was very relaxing (we even got to witness a marriage proposal across the street). We were provided with a lunch and breakfast menu when we arrived, so we decided to try something from both menus. We started with drinks. I got the Smokey Blackberry cocktail and a Pomegranate Mimosa. The cocktail wasn't bad, but it could've used more blackberry flavor. I was not a fan of the mimosa at all. Since I can't have much citrus, I tend to always get a pomegranate mimosa. This one was my least favorite mimosa I think I've ever had. I'm not sure what pomegranate juice they use, but they should think about finding a new brand. For food, my friend and I split the Chicken, Pistachio Pesto & Burrata Sandwich and the Pork Carnitas Chilaquiles. The sandwich was to die for! We both agreed that this was an amazing choice. The flavor was perfect. I've never had a pesto made from pistachios before, but it really worked! However, the side salad it came with was not good. The lettuce was old and bitter. The chilaquiles were also pretty disappointing. They had definitely been sitting for a while before being served to us because the tortilla chips were already soft when it was brought to us. The flavor all around wasn't there either. It just really seemed to be missing that final ingredient to really tie it all together. This is the type of place I would come back to only if I was already in the area. The only thing my friend and I liked out of our food and drinks was the sandwich, which isn't a good thing. If I did come back, I would probably only order from the lunch menu and skip anything drink or breakfast related. read more
Good place for brunch, food and cocktails in La Jolla Shores! They even have a dog menu! Located in what looks like an older residential house, menu is pretty broad with lots of choices! Chicken bean soup was pretty good. Fried calamari octopus and asparagus was interesting but I wouldn't have it again. Cocktails are pretty good. Service is good, but kitchen takes forever and a day on a weekend to make the food. Plan accordingly. read more

Shorehouse Kitchen was a great place to grab breakfast before starting a relaxing morning walking the beach in La Jolla. There is outdoor seating that provides a little of that SoCal charm. The food was good, but the prices online and the menu are different with the prices being higher in person. The food is comparable in price to similar places in San Diego (and La Jolla). The coffee was a little lackluster when compared to the flavors promised in the description on the menu. We didn't have a reservation and were seated quickly, however we did come on a Monday. read more
We enjoy coming here when we stay in La Jolla! Great breakfast food, lots of options, including gluten free options. Tasty coffee/espresso drinks too! Lattes and more. Milk options as well. This time I ordered the Maple Bruleed Irish Steel Cut Oats with bananas, blueberries, grilled pineapple and brown sugar. I ordered with the toppings on the side, I was concerned it would be too sweet but I ended up adding all of the fruit and it was delicious and filling! We are on the patio- beautiful weather so we had to! Lots of dogs on the patio, to the delight of my kids! They bring water bowls for the dogs and have a dog menu as well! We came here because we saw the reviews, and we were on vacation for my daughter's birthday. We went back in August, and it may have been an off day. I felt like the service was just above average. We sat on the "patio" but it's like the side walk area and it wasn't super comfortable. When we said outside we didn't think they meant on the sidewalk. The coffee was great, but it took at least 20 mins to come out. I got the Traditional Eggs Benedict. The muffin was a little stale, but the flavor was good. Tbh, I'm not entirely sure I'd come back for table service. I would go back for the coffee though. Hopefully it gets better, or it was just an off day. read more

Parking is not the best in this area of La Jolla, but a lot of the small streets a block or two away should be available. Came here for brunch, and we were seated within 15 minutes without a reservation. Most seating is outdoors. Salmon and Kale Benedict- Pretty solid. The salmon was not dry, and the egg was nice and runny. Normally I'm not the biggest fan of the hash brown/potatoes, but these were thin, crispy, and flavorful. Doesn't come with any other sides. 3.5/5 Angus Short Ribs- Beef was a bit dry, but I liked the scrambled eggs and hash browns on this dish as well. Comes with standard toast. 3/5 Prices and service was ok. I wouldn't say this was my favorite SD brunch spot, but it was definitely worth a try. read more
Upbeat music, glad we found this through a Yelp search. Large variety of indoor and covered outside dining. Saw the cutest puppy passing by and a dog looking out across the street. Will continue after food comes out. Doc's cornmeal pancakes were large and became takeout left overs with blueberries. Her coffee design was pretty. I chose the salted caramel waffles- I didn't even have to ask for extra crispy waffles. It was as if they could read my mind. Candied walnuts were delicious. I had chantilly in my mind like Liliha Bakery's but it was like the chantilly in Paris which is whipped cream. My hot chocolate came out with thick whipped cream drizzled with chocolate syrup. It remained exactly like it came to the bottom of the delicious cocoa in the cup. Our server's smile was captivating. The restaurant is huge and it quickly filled up with families Sunday breakfast. Every employee I came across was young and friendly. The restrooms were signed: Women or anyone else. Same for the Men's door. The piped in music was loud like in the patio area. read more

Came here in the morning around 8am. No wait and was able to be seated inside right away. The inside was nice. It's always nice when the inside of these breakfast restaurants feel welcoming and very homey and that's what I felt here. Our server, Dan, was super helpful. He gave us all of his recommendations from coffees to entrees to pancakes. We started off with the Ibarra Mexican coffee and the Salted Caramel latte. For entrees, we got the breakfast grilled cheese sandwich which had an omelette on the inside with our choice of bacon and the pork carnitas chilaquiles. Everything we had was really good. I enjoyed the pork carnitas chilaquiles a lot. It was probably one of the best chilaquiles I've ever had. I liked that the tortillas were fresh and crispy and didn't get too soggy by the tomatillo salsa. It was very flavorful. It was a little bit spicy, but still manageable for me. read more
Finally was able to check out shorehouse after a while! Parking was okay - there's street side parking otherwise you may need to go a couple blocks for parking in the residential area. Highly suggest Yelp Waitlist as the lines will get super long during peak times. Unfortunately, although the menu looked very delicious, the items were just okay. Service was also just okay - our server had actually forgotten one of our items and didn't check up on us. Angus short rib and hash brown potato cakes: the short rib themselves was a mix of fatty and lean pieces and pretty plain. There wasn't really a flavor I picked up nor was there even salt. I did however find the salt in the hash brown cakes as they were super salty. Mango pancakes with granola and guava syrup: the dish was just plain pancakes with different toppings. I had wished there was more flavor incorporated into the pancakes themselves. The dish also advertises guava syrup but we were only provided regular syrup. Overall, the food items sounds good but could've been better. read more

Based on what I remember, your twin was just a little more well put together; definitely seemed cleaner, and she gave me hot dishes, while yours were just a touch over lukewarm. Based on your address, I expected more. But no harm, no foul - you were good, although far from great. I'll likely visit your Carlsbad twin in the future, but I know you'll find someone that better appreciates what you have to offer. ----------------------------------------------------- A cloudy Friday morning after a doctor's appointment and a few days before my daughter heads back to Irvine, I wanted to treat her to a nice breakfast. Morning Glory was my first choice, but it was out of the way and going on Friday guaranteed a long wait. With good experience at the Carlsbad Shorehouse Kitchen a year ago, I figured I'd give the La Jolla location a shot. It was super awesome there was a parking spot right beside the restaurant, literally no more than 30 feet from the entrance, and absolutely no wait to get seated. I ended up picking a perfect table beside a large window - the best view among all the tables inside. After sitting down, I noticed that the window was actually quite dirty, with a couple flies buzzing around. Not the end of the world, but I definitely would have appreciated more cleanliness. Daughter ordered a Chai latte and she seemed to enjoy it. My coffee - meh - it was okay. As for the food: Crispy Parmesan Risotto & Honey Cured Bacon Benedict (B): Very interesting mix of textures. I've never had a benedict with such a crunchy base! The egg was cooked almost perfectly (maybe just a touch over), and the mixture of the egg yolk, bacon & crunchy risotto was tasty & interesting. Very unfortunate that the dish was served colder than it should be, at just a touch above lukewarm. I usually never finish breakfast dishes because of crazy portion sizes but in this case, it seemed a little too light, especially in terms of the size of the crunchy risotto and the two sheepishly small pieces of bacon. The tomatoes tasted fresh. Probably should have went for the unhealthy choice of hash browns but given I didn't ride my bike, I stuck with lower calorie antioxidants as opposed to fried carbs. Norwegian Smoked Salmon, Avocado & a Bagel: I didn't taste this so can't give it a grade, but my daughter enjoyed every bite and commented that "they give you a lot of salmon!" I should have taken a bite of the bagel to see if it was good or not. If in the area, Shorehouse Kitchen would be a good choice for breakfast / brunch. But not good enough to specifically go there from North County. read more

Good breakfast spot but Service could have been a lot better. Carnita chilaquiles were good but green sauce did have some spice. Steak and eggs were super yummy. Luka definitely approved their doggy bowl from the dog menu they offer (which we really appreciate btw). I had asked for a side of toast and never received it. Our food came out before our drinks (one latte and one soft drink). We only saw our server about two times despite him checking up on surrounding tables. read more

The food and service was great! We were seated right away even though we were 4th in line on yelp when we arrived. We told our server that we were sharing food and they split our portions onto different plates to make it easier to eat. Everything came out fast and fresh. The Mai tai's were strong and totally worth the $11 because I was super buzzed after. The carnitas Benedict was fire! The sweet cornbread and the savory egg and meat was on point. The French toast was also very delicious. Super fluffy, great vanilla flavor, and the pineapple was a nice addition. Overall I rate this place a 10/10! Great food, service, and vibes read more

Cute brunch/lunch spot in an awesome Location. The menu has got a lot of variety and ingenuity and is very fairly priced. Our server recommended the risotto and bacon Benedict, she said it was the absolute best thing on the menu. I did enjoy it, but it wasn't a 10/10 for me. I thought the hashbrowns were fantastic and crispy, just the way I like them. The risotto cake on the bottom of the Benedict was crispy but a but overly salty and the strips of bacon were somewhat meager. The poached egg was very nice, but I thought that the hollandaise sauce with the tarragon was too much going on for the dish. It would've been much better with a regular hollandaise. My fiancé had their traditional Benedict and he was quite pleased with it. I wish I would've gone with my original instinct and gotten one of their vegetarian omelettes or the frittata. They all sounded amazing. I loved the fresh squeezed orange juice and I thought the coffee was good as well. To be honest, I was surprised to find such a reasonably priced little spot so close to La Jolla Shores that actually has good food. We will definitely be back and I will for sure try one of those other breakfast items that I was drooling over. Looks like they have a good selection of lunch items and cocktails too! read more

5 star solely for the purpose of the green Pork Carnitas Chilaquiles plate I had! I still dream of their chilaquiles; the chips crunched, the eggs were sunny side up, the spice was perfect, adequate amount of meat. We walked in as a party of two mid morning. We were lucky enough to snag parking right in front. It was pretty busy. The ambiance was typical of a beach cafe spot. The service was not perfect but we were not in a rush. I'm afraid to come back in case the chilaquiles are not as good as the first time! I definitely recommend if you are local or just passing through. Shorehouse is a nice place to grab a bit to eat and relax. read more

Yes they do. Just not on the menu
Do they have bottomless mimosa?
No they do not. I do recommend their pineapple mimosa.
Is there on site Parking?
No. Street parking only, which can be frustrating in the summer. There's a free public parking lot at La Jolla Shores beach that's ~10 minute walk. Also, the #30 MTS bus stops one block from the restaurant. Parking tip: arrive for breakfast…
Is there a kids menu?
I have not seen a kids menu at Shorehouse. You may want to call them directly at 858.459.3300.
Do they have much indoor seating? Wondering how it would be with rain
Decent amount. Open air but still covered.

Not that I seen when I had my mimosa, but who knows, they may accommodate that or work that into their menu. :)
