What an amazing place for good food and great vibes in La Jolla Shore. Although parking can be tricky, it's well worth the effort for a great spot for fresh quality food. And it's delicious!!! Allie was our host and was able to find a great place to eat. All the tables are great with even an outside covered patio available. Jade our waitress was very friendly and nice. She was very patient and professional and listened to us in a kind way. With young ones with us, it is challenging. However, Jade ensured that we enjoyed our meal at the Shorehouse Kitchen. At brunch, my go to dish is the French toast that will tell me the quality and care from the kitchen. I was blown away at how delicious the French Toast was. The name is the "CARAMELIZED TAHITIAN VANILLA BEAN FRENCH TOAST with Fresh Blueberries or Bananas and Chantilly Cream, or a Grilled Pineapple". Jade gave away the secret ingredient to me and I was impressed. An applied Maillard reaction with brown sugar brought the French Toast a new level of yumminess. The Chantilly Cream took it over the top, not to sweet and very creamy. Yum!!! Also tried the "RASPBERRY TRUFFLE MOCHA St. George Vanilla Bean Vodka. Raspberry Liqueur, Callebaut Belgian Chocolate, Espresso, Steamed Milk, Chantilly Cream" . AMAZING!!! The Shorehouse Kitchen is a gem with fantastic food and service. Definitely a return visit call for the family!!!
We are always looking for a good brunch spot and Shorehouse will definitely be making it into our rotations. Honestly might have the best crispy breakfast potatoes I've had. The short rib potato cakes were also amazing. The mango and guava pancakes were great and was a nice twist to the usual flavors. I was not the biggest fan of the pork carnitas cornbread Benedict and would probably try something different next time--it was a little too bland and the texture too one dimensional. Overall, though, a very solid brunch spot in SD!
Came here on Friday for late breakfast after a hike. We were seated right away but the parking can be a challenge. Service was very friendly and attentive. I had tofu egg white frittata and decaf cappuccino. Food was pretty decent, but not great. Coffee was very mediocre. My husband had a cheeseburger and he enjoyed it. They have lots of standard breakfast options that you can order if you want that. They have some indoor and outdoor dining. And the vibe is kind of like a beach diner but probably a little better than that. So overall a pretty decent experience.
This is a cute little cafe to have brunch at. They have a variety of coffees, fresh pressed juices, and booze if you're in the mood. They have patio seating outside so you can soak in the sun, people watch, and enjoy a nice meal. I lovedddd the caramelized Tahitian vanilla French toast! It had a little crunch from the caramelization of the vanilla on the French toast. We added the strawberry, blueberry, and chantilly cream to it. Perfect blend of sweet, tangy, fluffy, with a little crunch. Definitely a good sweet treat to start the day. I got a spinach, Swiss cheese, bacon omelet. The hash browns were pretty good! Crunchy, salty, and went well with the eggs. I was hoping for more of a coffee flavor in the white mocha. They make the whipped cream from scratch. The mocha was mid. I would say this place is a lil over a 4 star place. The beach bowl is an açaí bowl on top of Greek yogurt. I thought it was a little too tangy for my taste. I think having either the yogurt or açaí bowl works better than mixing the two.
Came to shoreline kitchen during a quick san diego trip! We came on a saturday morning around 9:30 AM and there was no wait. Parking around is a bit hard to find, ultimately had to park a few blocks down. We got the maple chicken sandwich and an eggs benedict and both were really good. Service was 10/10
Food was amazing. Nice robust flavor from the béarnaise sauce on the Salmon Benedict. Waiter was very pleasant. He asked what kind of side of toast did I want with my Benedict, I responded with "oh? There's toast included? Maybe Rye?" And he said "oh no, my apologies, it doesn't come with toast". I must have had a really sad look on my face when I said "oh ok". because he said "you know what, I'll throw in a side of complimentary toast". Anyways, great little niche close to the ocean. Nice light cool breeze. Street Parking was easy to find
I came for brunch on a Thursday around 11:30 and the place was busy, but not overly packed so seating was quick. I got the Classic Benedict, with the Crispy Hash Browns, and though the hollandaise was delicious there were some problems with the texture of the English Muffin. One side (that came with an already punctured-ish egg) was really tough and hard to cut through. However, the other side was light and fluffy. Another part I wasn't a fan of was that their Canadian Bacon leaned on a thicker cut and a saltier side; but there was still a generous amount of slices. Service was great and were kind in making some modifications to the menu with the scramble. There was also not a long wait time for the food to come out. Ambience leans towards beachy with a nice outside patio and a cozy seating on the inside. Though I didn't fully enjoy the item I got, I would go again and try others of their classic brunch or lunch menu.
In the area for a wedding and stopped by this brunch place. It was phenomenal. We got the chicken sandwich and the spinach/mushroom omelette. Both flavors were amazing!! Service was also good. Recommend
Popular breakfast place with a comprehensive menu. There can be a wait, as the staff seems a bit overstretched. Unfortunately, the table we were seated at had a sticky surface that did not feel properly sanitized. The owner should consider replacing this type of furniture, as a clean and comfortable dining environment would make the experience much more pleasant for everyone.
It pains me to leave 3 stars but the service was SO slow. Maybe it was just this timing or being understaffed but it didn't seem busy when we arrived. The food was delicious and the service was slow. After our day date doing kayaking on Sunday morning (11am) across the street at EveryDay California, we saw Shorehouse across the street and the reviews looked good. We came in at 1pm on Sunday and quickly got a table. Thankfully we just had our party of 2. I did see the Yelp waitlist showed 17-30 min but we got right in and seated outside. We were quickly seated but I wish the rest of the experience would have been faster. Our server took our order after 10 min. FOOD- it took a while to get our food. 40 minutes after ordering and a guest that came after us got their food before us. -Monterey omelette - 8.5/10- my husband thought it was good with the chiles and made with quality bacon. -Egg white Mediterranean omelette- 8/10 - I liked that they offered healthy options. The omelette wasn't soaked in oil which was appreciated! -Caramelized Tahitian French toast 10/10 - I had a bite and this was delicious. We did have to ask for syrup though. Overall, this is a tasty place but maybe avoid sitting out front or going on a busy day.
Enjoyed a few hours at the beach. Asked a local where to get food was directed to the strip of restaurants. Fee options but when we stopped at Shorehouse Kitchen we knew we'd be happy with the choice as the person who greeted us was friendly and said "take your time". The roasted red pepper bisque had grilled cheese toast that was tasty and filling. The cucumber avocado sandwich with the seasoned fries complimented the soup perfectly. They also serve breakfast foods as well. Plenty of seating indoor, covered patio and on the street dining. Any seat is the right seat
We waited about an hour and a half, even after putting our name on the Yelp waitlist, but honestly, it ended up being worth it. The brunch was really good, and the service was great too. I would have given it 5 stars, but the upcharge to swap vodka for tequila in my Bloody Mary was kind of funny--and a little unnecessary. Still, I'd come back.
The food was delicious. The bacon and hashbrowns were crispy, the eggs weren't watery like some places can be. They had freshly squeezed orange juice. Service was fast and our waitress Jade was kind. We also got to sit outside and it was a beautiful day but their patio is also covered so you're not always exposed to the sun if you didn't want to be. I would absolutely drive an hour and a half back for breakfast
Food- We ordered the two eggs, toast & a side, and seared salmon baby kale Benedict. Both were absolutely delicious. Eggs were scrambled perfectly for one dish, and the eggs for Benedict were poached and not runny just how we like it. Service- I believe our servers name was Allie, and she was so attentive and kind. Refilled our waters periodically, and plenty of table check-ins. We waited a good 15-20 minutes for our food, but it was worth the wait. We arrived early morning with no wait. Ambiance- Plenty of seating inside, and out. I didn't get pictures, but sitting outdoors during this time of year is wonderful. About 6 minute walk to the beach too! I had a great morning breakfast here with my family. I would 100% come back here when I'm back in La Jolla. My nephew and I both got the 2 eggs, side and toast combo. I subbed my toast for the homemade biscuit and my side was breakfast potatoes. Super delicious and the home made biscuits were ! Per the waiters rec I also got the Ibarra latte which was super good. Pretty sweet so keep that in mind, but I don't mind as I have a sweet tooth. FYI on a couple things: There wasn't that much parking as its on the main blvd to the beach. As were sitting there we noticed a line building. There may be a wait if you come by. All in all, It was really good food and just a beautiful area for breakfast. read more

Shorehouse Kitchen in La Jolla is truly a gem! I come here about twice a month, and every time it's worth the wait. The food is always outstanding my absolute favorites are the Risotto Eggs Benedict (so unique and delicious!) and the French Toast topped with fresh fruits. The flavors, presentation, and quality are consistently amazing. On top of the great food, the location couldn't be better just a quick 5-minute walk to the beach, which makes it the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely breakfast before or after a stroll by the ocean. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff always make you feel welcome. If you're in La Jolla, don't miss this place. The wait is absolutely worth it! read more

Lovely staff and lovely ambiance. Loved the out door dining. The smoothies were a hit. The only two things that gives this a 3 star is the food was a bit pricey and the pancakes were said to have chocolate chunks, but actually had like a mix of sugar and abuelas chocolate crushed shavings that you make hot chocolate out of and it didn't taste good. read more

We had a charming experience at Shorehouse Kitchen, our vacay day here was giving everything I could ask for and more! We joined the waitlist while visiting the sea lions at the cove and were pleasantly surprised to get in about 10 minutes before our estimated time. Residential street parking is available - we found a spot just a short, pleasant walk from a free spot on Paseo del Ocaso. We were promptly attended to by our server and were able to ask questions and learn about all their offerings. Excellent service from walk up to walk out. Sitting outside was perfect, I felt so relaxed as it was calm, spacious enough from the tables around us, and great weather. We split the Pork Carnitas Chilaquiles, which had plenty of meat, the perfect amount of heat, and a delicious brunch nacho vibe. The Crispy Parmesan Risotto & Honey Cured Bacon Benedict with crispy hash browns was expertly prepared and flavorful. A nice touch was splitting our plates before bringing them out at no extra charge. They also provided mini ketchup and hot sauce bottles, which elevated the flavor and my perfectionistic self loved how petite they were to have enough table space. Bonus points for their generosity offering anyone waiting free organic ground coffee! We also decided to order iced salted caramel lattes to go and were very pleased. Highly recommend this spot for a relaxed and satisfying brunch. read more

I've been here a few times. The first two times were really good, but the last couple times haven't been as good. The benedict with risotto cakes is unique and creative and I order that each time I come here. This time it was a bit more bland, but it was overall still yummy. I really liked the potatoes with onions and red bell peppers. I also ordered an iced mocha which ended up tasting just like milk and no coffee. My friend enjoyed her burger and my other friend enjoyed her vegetarian meal. Their coffees were tasty. The vanilla latte and hot chai had great flavor to them. I would suggest getting on the waitlist because it can be a long wait on a Saturday morning. The ambiance is beachy feeling and has a good outdoor vibe. They were so busy that our waiter was unfortunately not attentive to us. It took a while to get waters and when he brought them, he quickly dropped it off and left without asking if we wanted to order. We were finally able to order after trying to get him to come over. It took a bit longer for the check too. If you're in a rush, I wouldn't recommend coming here for a weekend brunch. Parking can be rough being in a busy area of La Jolla. I would still recommend checking this place out! read more

It was a first come first serve basis! We came around 2:10pm and got seated around 2:20pm. Our waiter immediately greeted us , came by with water and utensils for us while we browse the menu for a few minutes. We both ordered the Crispy Parmesan Risotto & Honey Cured Bacon Benedict. One with house potatoes and the other one the hash browns. I recommend the hash brown they were so crispy and delicious we enjoyed our Benedicts it was full flavors it pairs well with their house made hot sauce ! Loved the arugula on the side (: Drinks - i ordered the salted vanilla latte. Def on the sweeter side but i enjoyed it soo much. My waitress asked if i wanted to adjust the sweetness of it as well so if yall prefer less sweet ask them they would be more than happy to accommodate! My bf ordered the dirty chai vanilla latte - more subtle in the flavors great balance not my favorite but he loved it more than mine since it wasn't too sweet. Dessert- we shared the Caramelized Tahitian Vanilla Bean French Toast added bananas. Flavors was a subtle yet a good amount of sweetness. We enjoyed it but we were so stuffed ! If anyone is ever in the La Jolla area please check them out great service , great ambiance and great food. Shout out to our waitress Ali ! I joined the waitlist an hour before I wanted to eat so by the time I got there it was time for me to be seated. This is one of my favorite brunch places in San Diego and the quality of the food is always consistent. I got the short rib hash with the Tahitian French toast. We also got a chai latte and a caramel latte. You can sit either outdoors or indoors. It is a dog friendly place and you can even order an entree for your dog. The food and service were exceptional. Our server Brooke was fast and friendly. She gave great recommendations and checked back to see what we thought. The food runner was super warm and engaged with us every time he stoped by. The only thing that stopped me from giving this spot 5 stars was the cleanliness and appearance. I immediately noticed the tables were super sticky even though it did seemed they had been wiped down. I also noticed the patio pavers were super dark and gross. If the owners could invest in a small pressure washer and some degreaser, it would make all the difference. Or even hire a small local company to do it. Finally, the little side table or credenza that the servers use to store silverware or sanitizer buckets, etc. looked a bit unhygienic. read more

Had the best short rib hash and eggs out on the patio here and I'm still thinking about it. The short rib was insanely tender, perfectly seasoned, and paired with crispy potatoes and just-runny-enough eggs--total comfort food elevated in all the right ways. The fresh orange juice tasted like it was squeezed to order--super refreshing and bright, the kind of detail that makes a simple breakfast feel special. The outdoor patio is a gem too. Chill atmosphere, great lighting, and just the right amount of people-watching. Service was friendly and fast without being rushed. Absolutely the worst service I've had in food industry in La Jolla. My family and I had issues with the server Allie, no personality, terrible personable skills towards the customers, until they were ready to get paid for there terrible service. ordered 1 beer and the Beer was almost a year expired!! 08/28/2025!! Current date 07/13/2026! Floaters in cup after pouring. Seriously danger/health risk issues. There response was they didn't know what to say (Allie) and later said supplier was at fault, when in reality they need to be checking for quality control for the consumer and directing it through the supplier before serving it to the public, not only was the brand of beer I was consuming expired, so was all the other brands as well according to the manager. Or (whoever they sent to talk with us) Not okay to be watching other tables consuming alcohol beverages that are considered expired.on top of it the food the food was absolutely terrible. l Personally will not be returning back to this restaurant. Fix your problems before you cause others/ serious ones to the public. read more

This place was absolutely amazing! It's a great location in La Jolla, staff are friendly and the menu has so many options. I went here not really super hungry and wanted to get something small. I ordered the granola breakfast bowl and I was absolutely amazed! It was the best granola bowl I've ever had. It was so good, I went again the next morning at the Carlsbad location. They also have a great selection of coffee and juice. And if you're not in the mood to sit down and drink coffee then that's fine, they have a walk up coffee bar! All in all, this is a great place and I highly recommend giving it a try! Cheers! read more

This restaurant is in such a great location, away from the bustling nature of the middle of La Jolla. It has excellent outdoor and indoor seating, and we had the choice of being seated indoors at a booth-- my personal favourite. Once my boyfriend and I were seated, we were greeted by a friendly face, and he asked us what we would like to drink. We ordered the honey lavender cortado, which made my eyes pop out once I had one little sip. It was so flavourful and sweet, without being too overwhelming. If I had known that I would like it so much, I would have ordered one for myself! We noticed that there were so many items on the menu, all of them offering unique combinations of flavors. We ordered the pork carnitas chilaquiles, maple fried chicken sandwich, and the mango pancakes with house-made guava sauce. Pork carnitas chilaquiles: We chose green salsa over the red because I am not very good with spice. It came covered in the perfect amount of sauce, and the kind waiter offered even more salsa on the side. The pork carnitas was the best choice of meat: it was perfectly savoury and balanced the tanginess of the salsa. Maple fried chicken breakfast sandwich: The waiter recommended that we ordered the hash browns on the side, and I was so glad he did! It was easily the best part of the dish. It was perfectly crispy which makes for a great hash brown. The chicken was seasoned nicely, and the maple flavouring offset the fact that it was cooked slightly dry. Overall, it was a great sandwich but was not my favourite dish. Mango pancake with guava sauce: We ordered this pancake because we were intrigued by the addition of mango and guava. I have been quite bored with ordering buttermilk pancakes-- I wanted to be inspired! This was my favourite part of my breakfast. It was sweet in a fruity, tangy way, not in an overpowering, heavy way. The mango pieces and nuts scattered on the pancakes combined nicely with the guava sauce and soft pancake-- I didn't even need to add more syrup. This is easily one of my favourite brunch spots in La Jolla. This is where I will be taking family and friends for breakfast if they visit San Diego! read more

We had a wonderful lunch at this restaurant after kayaking. We sat outside. My son ordered breakfast, I had the beach bowl, my husband had the Shorehouse salad with chicken and my daughter had a hamburger. We all enjoyed our meals. The service was friendly and fast without feeling rushed. read more

Cute place with inside and outside (patio and sidewalk) seating. It got quite loud with most tables being full and two large groups doing business. Food was ok. Hashbrowns both styles were dried out. Could only eat inside of hashbrowns as outside was burnt and dried out and too crunchy. Eggs Benedict was good 7/10. Their famous pancakes were $7/pancake and slightly burnt which ruined what I believe would have been great flavor. Would not come back. Waitress was nice but only checked on us once as we were finishing. Had other staff delivering food and bussing tables. Worked well together. read more
We stopped by Shorehouse for breakfast on the way to Legoland. It was such a great experience. The menu had a lot of choices. The food was absolutely delicious. The portion were generous. I was stuffed after eating an omelette. We also enjoyed the cornmeal pancake. My brother, who usually does not prefer American breakfast was surprised how good the food was. I would definitely come back again and try out other menu items. read more

Great diner with the ambiance of a small beach town. Service was very! slow that's why I am giving it only 4 stars. Had the beach bowl and really liked it. It is not your typical acai bowl, but still very delicious. It could have been more food for me though, given the price of $12. read more
LOVE shore house. The staff is so nice. We went on a beautiful Saturday morning and we got sat immediately. Parking was a little tricky but mot a big deal. Their menu is full of amazing items. We ended up getting the wild mushroom and spinach omelette and the waffle with candied walnuts and bananas. Not sure how but forgot to get pics of those. The food took awhile to come out and the eggs were cold. We notified our waiter and he was so kind about it. Took it right off the bill. Other than that hiccup, everything tasted sooo goooood. The flavors were fresh and strong and the waffle was the perfect ending. I would definitely come back again! read more

Horrible service, delayed. Ordered pancakes and they forgot to bring syrup so I asked for it and they never brought it out. After eating it without syrup, I noticed there was plastic inside the pancakes. Unfortunately I will not be back. They didn't even show any empathy. read more
Such a great place for breakfast! I came here at 9:30 on a Sunday and there was a 30 minute wait. The I ordered the pork carnitas with poblano cornbread and a side of potatoes. It was pretty tasty and filling. The portions are also pretty good. My friend ordered the California omelet with a side of toast. The omelet came with an arugula salad too. We split the cornmeal pancakes with lemon and blueberries. The short stack had 2 gigantic pancakes. This one was less memorable. I didn't really taste the lemons at all. It was a very average pancake. Great place for a sit down brunch with inside and outside dining tables. read more

Is there on site Parking?
No. Street parking only, which can be frustrating in the summer. There's a free public parking lot at La Jolla Shores beach that's ~10 minute walk. Also, the #30 MTS bus stops one block from the restaurant. Parking tip: arrive for breakfast…
